So this store is 100% at fault for my massive hiking shoe collection that only continues to grow every time I visit. Some of the deals they have are too difficult to pass up. They also have a pretty good selection of clothing and other Columbia branded items for discounted prices as well. The store itself is clean and well maintained, with plenty to choose from. There are also changing rooms to try stuff on. Service at the checkout can be excruciatingly slow here for some reason. It's happened many times so be prepared to wait if there's even a small line. There has never been a sense of urgency here but maybe that's the intent. Overall four stars and a good place to find a deal on quality stuff. read more

On Wednesday June 24th 2026 my son was in the store shopping for a late father's gift for his dad. He was with two of his friends and they were browsing the selection of jackets and coats when an older woman named Gaby W confronted them with an incredibly rude and hostile attitude asking them what they were doing in the store and what they wanted. They tried explaining they were looking for a jacket for his father but the woman apparently didn't like their answer and she kicked them out of the store. She told them they need to get out of the store or she will be calling security on them. I'm shocked this behavior is allowed and I'm appalled that this happened to my son and his friends. I will not be shopping at this store and Columbia has lost a customer for life. I will also be letting my friends and family know not to visit this location if they do shop with Columbia. read more

I normally love this store but I was very disappointed in the customer service today. I and the patron in front of me read and interpreted the clearance sign attached to mean an additional 70% off the price marked. The manager stated this is not the case, "the sign means the price marked is up to 70%off and they don't make the sign". No "I'm sorry, I can understand that". "I can give you 10% off if you give me your email address". They got my money anyway because it was the only jacket left ,however not sure I'll be a returning customer. We tried to return items from several online purchases and were told by the store manager we have to return online. The store will not accept more than nine items from online order for return. The store manager was a heavyset man with a very disagreeable disposition who seemed to hate being there and absolutely disgusted with talking to customers. He told us the nine item limit is a new Columbia policy. So we told him we'll return nine items only but he said we have to return EVERYTHING online because we brought ten items into HIS store. This is Columbia's new customer service?! Really?! We checked Columbia's website but could not find the new policy the store manager mentioned. We also asked a different Columbia store location and were told there they've never heard of such a policy at Columbia. Seems Columbia corporate has really lowered the bar on customer service and selecting the right people to run their stores. The North Face is our family's new go to store after more than twenty years with Columbia . We've warned all our relatives, friends, and coworkers to stay away from Columbia. Very disappointing change in Columbia. Their stock COLM will likely decline given the abhorrant customer service. read more

I love Columbia products, but after today I was beyond UPSET with how I was treated as a customer & will NEVER come back unless that employee gets disciplinary action or gets fired. I stopped by to purchase new hiking boots, which I have yet to try on, but they look super cute & seem comfy upon initial try. Anyhow, they're having the 4 day President's Day weekend sale AND military & first responders receive an additional 20% off as a thank you for our service. Upon checkout, I pull out my EMT card as proof to the Hispanic/Latina lady dressed in plaid & glasses telling me the 20% is only for military & first responders only get 10% off. Excuse me, but the ad never mentioned the segregation between services and discounts it says 20% off for military AND first responders. I didn't argue at first, but then having exited and reading the sign again, my mom asks the guy guarding the front of the store about the discount if it's for all or military. He says it was for all & there's an extra button employees need to press for the discount as the bottom or something so he tells me to go make a "return" & get the discount applied. So I end up going back inside, very upset at this point that I was deceived and lied to about the discount, and had a different employee make the return. Funny thing, the same lady was like oh no it's only for military but then we say the guy outside said there's another button etc. Then she tells the cashier who was in front of us to make the return & apply the other president's day discount. Hmmm sounds like she knew very well which discount was the correct one & she kinda looked like a manager too so what kind of person/manager would do such a thing?! WOW TALK ABOUT THANK YOUS TO US FIRST RESPONDERS. SHEESH I'VE NEVER FELT SO DISRESPECTED & DISCRIMINATED AGAINST. Take a look at the ad yourselves & see if there are separate discounts listed for military & first responders + other EMS personnel bc I don't see it! So did she make up that BS bc she has something against EMS or bc she's racist or WHAT?! Jeremy was awesome!! We came in to buy warm clothes at 4th of July Sale for cold weather for a trip to China/S Korea in December. For my wife who is going and wears size large/ extra large. I didn't see much in the way of 2X and higher. But I did get a pair of Velcro sandals to wear in the pool! He was super helpful from beginning to end! Got thermal pants, tops, jacket, fleece jacket, gloves, socks, boots! Spent about $350 and we get $75 credit to spend in August! Excellent value! read more

We will be traveling to freezing temps in Beijing soon, so we had many questions regarding the differences between down and synthetic jackets and puffy versus non puffy ones. Specifially, William took customer service above and beyond when WiFi wouldn't cooperate on our phones. He found a way to pull up our Greater Rewards points, which he had to manually input, AND reminded us about a Welcome Reward. Unfortunately, so many people provide such horrible service these days that when someone provides what we should regard as standard (good) service, we often mis-identify as great service simply because we're used to receiving bad service Great service should be identified as above and beyond good service. At the end of January this year I received great, commendable service from Jeremy and his coworker at Columbia Sportswear at the San Clemente Outlet mall. I was heading up from San Diego to Orange County on a Friday ahead of a planned Saturday morning trip to Big Bear for what turned out to be record snowfall there. After having searched 5 other stores in San Diego for snow jackets for my two young boys, and coming up empty I called the Columbia Sportswear in the San Clemente outlets and described what I needed to the employee over the phone. He said they had a few different sizes, and would hold them for me. We departed with plenty of time to spare before the store would close at 7pm, but two bad accidents along the way resulted in us having huge traffic delays. I called Jeremy and explained my situation, and I said that because we were supposed to leave early in the morning for Big Bear, his Columbia Sportswear store was my last option, but according to my GPS I wouldn't arrive until 10 minutes after closing. Jeremy told me not to worry, and that they would wait for me after closing, and they did! I was able to have the boys try on two different sizes of snow jackets, and shop for gloves as well without ever once being rushed to leave by the employees (although we were only there about 15 minutes total). The jackets were exactly what we were looking for (as Jeremy had described previously over the phone): a waterproof shelf over a removeable inner fleece, and had hoods, in blue--perfect. It was actually even similar to my own Columbia snow jacket from maybe 10-12 years ago. I highly recommend this location, and the Columbia Sportswear products. read more

One star off because it doesn't always have what you need, but it's an outlet store. You can't really go into Marshalls or Home Goods and expect to find exactly what you're looking for. I do love most of the products that they carry here and the staff. I haven't been to a Columbia store where the staff wasn't helpful or friendly. They have a great selection and stand behind their products. My typical piece of clothing lasts me 3-9 years which is awesome(I travel on pretty adventurous trips) I don't buy shoes/boots or accessories too much here. I would rather pay 1/3rd the price here than pay 3x more for a similar jacket or pair of pants from a more expensive brand. read more

We got a pair of snow hiking boots as a gift that one of the employees specifically recommended; however, the boots did not fit so I attempted returned them today. The manager YT refused to honor the store's return policy, saying that the boots had been "walked in and full of dirt." The boots were brand new and had not been walked in any dirt. He refused to even give store credit. I asked him to donate the boots and he refused. As a result, we now have this brand new pair of boots that no one in our family can use. If you shop with them, be absolutely sure you are happy with your purchase and intend to keep the items. I don't want anyone to experience the horrible encounter I had when I tried to return our item. For sure, I will shop at other more professional stores not Columbia. read more

I went to the Columbia factory store in San Clemente on 5/15/2018 with my two little boys in search of outerwear for our upcoming Alaska vacation. I found everything I needed (plus more) at very affordable prices and very quickly. The sales were stellar and the staff was great; Amanda was attentive, personable, had great recommendations on products, and made me feel very comfortable. It is difficult to shop with two seven-year-old boys but she made me feel at ease and helped me find everything I needed as well as get it tried on very quickly. Thank you so much!! read more

I was so disappointed in the customer service here. We had a return that was initially purchased at the employee store. After seeing there was a closer location to us in San Clemente we thought maybe we could return it there. We called the store and asked if we could make a return explaining that we bought it from the employee store in Carlsbad. We were told, sure as long as you had the receipt. We went in with the receipt and realized we did not have the credit card used for that purchase. They were unable to make the return...FRUSTRATED but understood. They physically held our receipt in their hand and said, sorry we need your card. We then drove home (17 miles) got the card and went back to the San Clemente store. We were then told after making the second trip and being told we could return the items that we could not return the items. This whole process took up three hours of our day. The manager, Yasu was very unresponsive, unsympathetic and obviously not helpful. I could do without this store and never miss it. This entire description has been written while I am on hold with him...so far 8 minutes and 22 seconds. Hung up and called back, apparently my call was forgotten about. Again,very disappointed in the whole Colombia experience. Stick to manufacturing not retail. read more
