We have been here a few times over the years and always enjoyed the food, and friendly fast service . This particular morning we stopped off for breakfast on our way out of town. I, as usual, had to take half my meal out. They accommodated me with plastic utensils and napkins for my road trip. I had the ribeye steak with scrambled eggs, hash browns with onion and cheese and sour dough toast. The steak looked a little odd probably Ky because it was thin but it tasted good and was tender. I had enough steak for a sandwich with the sourdough toast, adding some steak sauce, and a third of the steak to eat on its own. One thing I really appreciate is that they don't add salt to their food. Whenever I can add a touch of my own salt to a meal vs the first bite being too salty is a win in my eyes. My husband had the meat skillet with a pancake and eggs over easy. He had me taste his pancake, which was delicious. Sometimes pancakes can be too sweet before adding syrup but this one was just right, nice and fluffy too. He enjoyed his skilled but had asked for habanero how sauce and squirted a bit too much on his skillet. Not enough to burn his mouth but enough to make his nose run. Service was friendly and the food came out fast. I recall having takeout of broasted chicken and have eaten dinners of fish and burgers and had the same experience with great, fast and friendly service and delicious food. read more

I've started eating here as of late and I have to say since the first time I had an experience here it felt like home. The staff was so kind and positive towards me and my family every time we go, the food is always tastes like a home cooked meal, there's not a single complain I could make about this restaurant. I've meet the owner and his daughters who work here and they are such great and down to earth people they make their restaurant have that family environment feeling. If I could leave 6/5 stars I would I'll continue coming back to this restaurant again and again. read more

We used to come here almost every Sunday and the food and service was excellent!! The owner was present and working. His daughters waited tables. Everyone of them was very friendly with wonderful service! Today we stopped by for breakfast and it was terrible! The service sucked. She came by once and asked if we wanted more coffee and we stated yes. She did not bring the coffee. I saw on her phone and talking to another waiter. When we ready to go she be back and asked again if we wanted more coffee and we stated it was too late. The food was ok. The hash browns were flat with no substance. It sure was NOT a three egg omelette, maybe a two. That is not what the menu said. Was very disappointed and will not be back. It was once a favorite for breakfast! read more

7.14.2024 Stopped by around 8 a.m to have breakfast with family while we were visiting! It was 6 of us and service was fast! All the food came out together and our server was great! I ordered the 2 eggs, bacon, pancake with a side of toast, and it was yummy! I ordered my eggs over easy,which can be difficult to get the right cook on, but they were spot on! I believe my boyfriend ordered just pancakes...but honestly I can't remember. Everything was yummy & this restaurant definitely had a cozy/family feel to it. This was our second visit in a year, and we stopped in today for a late lunch as we enjoyed our previous meal. The service was excellent; while the restaurant was clean, it could use some updating. The booth seating's upholstery was quite cracked, and the women's bathroom had chipped and gouged brick-type flooring. As I am temporarily disabled and wearing a leg brace and using a cane, I'd beg for installation of a "handicapped height" toilet, and a wider stall. Hard to maneuver!! But, the food. I had a delicious patty melt with plenty of fried onions and melted cheese on perfectly grilled rye bread with hot, crispy battered fries. My husband selected the hot turkey sandwich; he said the turkey was on the dry side, but the gravy and mashed potatoes were fine. We both had cups of the chicken dumpling soup, which was good and hot with the right amount of seasoning and plenty of small dumplings. We'll definitely stop in next time we're going through Columbus. read more

You take a chance when you stop at these little small town diners, this time it paid off. We were seated quickly by a very friendly hostess. The restaurant is clean and bright with plenty of seating. The food is good and the portions are generous, I had an omelet and it was cooked perfectly. My friend had soup and a sandwich and had to take the soup home because the sandwich was so filling this will be a regular stop for us when traveling through that area, I highly recommend, not fancy but good food, a great value and friendly people. read more

We have been coming here, when in the area, for years. The service, cleanliness, and food is great. We have never been disappointed. This time was no different, with one exception... We froze our butts off while we were there. It was in low 70's outside and very overcast, so sun was not a factor. The thermostat outside the ladies room was set at 67°.!!! Family road-trip to Oshkosh. We stopped in here for lunch/dinner. The food was delicious and service was great! Clean and a great variety menu items. We had tostadas, enchiladas roja, nachos with beef and strawberry rhubarb pie, lemon meringue and chocolate pie! They also sell local honey at checkout. The service here is outstanding. I don't know what took me so long to discover this place. It's family owned and run, and I felt like I really was part of the small town I live in when I ate here. I had a gigantic farmer's omelet that was fantastic (it was huge and I somehow ate the whole darn thing). But the real treat was the accompanying pancake. It was notable. I'm drooling just thinking about it. You know those pancakes that taste like they MAY have been made with cake batter? All sweet and fluffy, with perfectly bubbly edges that aren't burned or crispy, but soft and lofty and PERFECT? Well... that was this pancake. And they're BIG. I was worried one pancake wouldn't be enough to satisfy my craving, but once she set it on the table, I realized each pancake is about the size of a dinner plate. Seriously, do you know how hard it is to grill a pancake so that it's perfectly cooked all around with absolutely no burned spots? Not sure how they did it, but I could seriously wax poetic about this friggin' pancake for hours, Bubba-style. Prices were great--and it was a LOT of food. Charming wait staff. The owner came out and made sure we were happy with our meal, too. Fantastic. Think this is my new Sunday brunch place. Maybe Saturday, too... While visiting the family in the area, mom and I went to this restaurant. I remember when this was built as a Country Kitchen. Nothing has changed. As walking to the door, we were greeted by the owner who was taking care of the lawn - great that he takes care of his surroundings. Very friendly man. We were seated as soon as we walked in by the owner's daughter who really knows the regular customers. The server greeted us shortly after we were seated. The menu is very well balanced - everything from breakfast to lunch to dinner to a full page of Mexican entrees. Mom and I just ordered some breakfast items. I had the eggs, bacon, hash brown meal. I asked for the hash browns to be crispy and they were done just right. Mom's side dishes were done to her likings. The server would check in with us periodically without being overbearing. There was a small incident when the server brought a refill of soda, it slipped out of her hand. She felt so bad, but the way she handled the situation was fantastic and to me... it was no big deal. Accidents happen. I would recommend and go back to this family restaurant when I'm back in the area. read more

I ordered the bacon omelette with hash browns and a side of wheat toast. The toast was cold when I got it. The bacon in the omelette was a little under cooked and the hash browns were very bland. This wasn't the first visit to this restaurant, but it was our first visit for breakfast (11/30). We were greeted quickly by our 12-year-old host (not an exaggeration on the age), who sat us and asked about drinks. The coffee was terrific. Then things slowly went downhill. Our food was ordered and when it was time for a coffee refill, we had to ask. Twice. Our food came and looked and tasted good. Prices were fair, given the quantity and quality of food. Still, coffee refills had to be requested; often more than once. As my wife pointed out, "You shouldn't get irritated as you eat." Let me say that the restaurant was about 1/3 full the entire time; far from busy. I rarely leave a restaurant without tipping; I believe in 15% for average service, 20%+ for good, and 10% for poor. This got nothing; the 1st time in all of 2014 I've left without tipping. Will I be back? Maybe for the food...hopefully they fix the service. read more

The wait staff is friendly Latina waitresses who seated us quickly on a busy Sunday AM. Very good breakfast with big good portions. The corned beef hash was different than I am used to. The sweet waitresses made it a very pleasant meal, with an adorable older waitress obviously very in charge, and very well liked by the local regulars greeting her as they walked by. Hair in the food twice!!! One meal was delivered to the table with hair on it so it was sent back. While that was happening, a long hair was found inside a hamburger of another meal. Needless to say, none of us could finish our meals and we'll never go back. They shouldn't have charged us anything as we ate nothing but still made us pay for one meal and the drinks, even though those weren't consumed either. When I asked for a manager or owner, I was told there wasn't one. Should have been a heads up when we arrived and the place was empty, yet we had to wait for a table to be washed off (with a filthy rag) before we could sit down. Other than fast food, this was the only other option in Columbus, WI. While the servers were friendly and the menu is full of option, my food came out average and on the side was a bread that was 60% made of mold. I was not planning to eat the bread so I did not realize until I was done with my meal. I don't know how someone can miss that. Don't bother going here. We stopped on our way home and ordered the baked chicken special white meat with no gravy. It came smothered in gravy and when we sent it back they only had dark meat left so I ate it, but the dressing was terrible and so were the baked beans. The salad was soso and the baked potato was very good. My partner then ordered a chicken sandwich which was ok. The waitress was very nice but not worth stopping for. read more

We stopped here on the way home after being in Madison. We were seated quickly, but it did take awhile to have our order taken. my husband and I had the French onion soup. It was brown water with onions in it. No flavor at all. We had the combo basket for an appetizer. It came with ranch & marinara dipping sauce. Ranch tasted odd & marinara tasted like dish soap. The breaded mushrooms were still frozen in the middle. We both ordered burgers from their monthly special menu. My husbands just tasted "off". Could get past the second bite. I had the "Nancy Burger". The bacon was all chopped up instead if slices. Most of it wasn't even cooked all the way and some pieces were grey in color. The burger had the oddest texture I have ever experienced. I also could not get passed the seconded bite. We asked for the check & left. I have never had a problem with this restaurant before but tonight, I took my brother and friends out to dinner and my most of the food was good, but the several of the friends and my brother got sick due to dry or funny tasting food. the ketchup also had a aftertaste and was having a spoiled taste to it; almost all of them ate the ketchup. my friends and brother got sick and started throwing up almost immediately. I called when I got home and the manager said they where going to check all the ketchups and give me a $25 gift certificate when my bill was $60. if my friends are sick still tomorrow, then they are going to the restaurant themselves and talk to the owner. Service and food has gone downhill the last couple years. Service is slow, even to get drinks or place an order, even when they aren't busy. Chicken tenders and fish fry both overcooked. Mashed potatoes had some kind of orange colored, tomato-based gravy which was pretty gross. Some of the waitstaff seems uninterested in taking care of their customers. For a simple egg breakfast, I would say that it is OK. However, be warned. They want to nickel and dime you!! I was surprised when I received the bill and realized that we were being charged $1.45 for EACH tea bag, and $.60 for adding cheese to my eggs (which they forgot to cook in, so they just laid it on top). A glass of soda was less than a simply tea bag. There are so many items on their menu that I don't believe that they cook everything to order, so I'm guessing that items are brought in frozen and then cooked. The hash brown certainly tasted frozen and they were a bit watery, instead of crispy. The décor hasn't changed in the 14 years that we have lived here. read more
