I really loved this place. My friends and I made a last minute brunch reservation and were able to be seated in a short period. I want to say I loveeeeed the bartender Quinn. He was amazing! Every drink he made us was phenomenal. You can also order from the regular drink menu during brunch. Restaurant was empty, very clean, cozy, and well decorated. I gave 4 stars as there aren't many protein options for brunch. I wish some form of breakfast meat was available. Your only choice of protein are the fish sandwich which my friend had. She said it wasn't very seasoned but okay. You may also request smoked salmon. I loved the French toast. Very filling. My friend enjoyed the Spanish baked eggs. We stayed for hours and had bites from the dinner menu: blistered Shishito peppers, Brussel sprouts, patatas bravas, hamachi. Everything on the evening menu is phenomenal! I will be back for drinks, slow weekend convos, and yummy evening food. read more

Saw this place on Insta so we decided to head uptown and give it a try. We really enjoyed it! The place is open and airy with high ceiling and as you would guess, columns. The bar is bright and attractive with a lot to offer. The service was friendly and while we watched them fall into the weeds they recovered quite nicely! DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. I used to really enjoy this spot in my neighborhood, good vibes and wine. Unfortunately a few weeks ago, not only was the service not the best but they handled my partners allergy SO POORLY. Even after openly discussing his severe peanut allergy, we were still served a platter of food with nuts covering the dish after being reassured that they would be removed. The worst part was the lack of attention and accommodation to this. So unfortunate, I've never been this critical about places I've been too but it put my partners health completely at risk with no regard!!! read more

Columns is great. But Jordan is better. My girlfriend and I came in after an expensive but mediocre broadway show. We intended to order a quick drink and make our way home, but Jordan turned our entire night around. He is hysterical and so charismatic! We sipped SEVERAL glasses of the sparkling Albariño (divine), and snacked on the bravas, the fish skewers, and a couple dips. Before we knew it, hours had past! Food, wine, and ambiance here are great. I loved the playlist which was essentially just Lorde deep cuts with Harry Styles and Maggie Rogers mixed in. Service has room for improvement... I had a reservation for two at the bar and the host took me to one empty barstool and just left me there with no further communication? I returned to the front and the bartender found two spots for me at the bar. Very weird. I think the issue is that all of the servers and bartenders are also hosting, and Columns should hire a host to alleviate confusion. Tldr: overpriced, food not bad, terrible service The restaurant has a nice ambiance, I have to give it that, but beyond that, it was one of the more disappointing dining experiences I've had. We sat down and were not served water or talked to by a waiter until we flagged someone down. We ordered a number of items, and the first couple came with fairly long wait times between each dish (isn't tapas style supposed to arrive all at once?) After three dishes, our waiter came by and asked if we were good on food and if we'd like to close out. We told him we were still waiting on 3 more plates and he seemed surprised to hear that. Finally, two more plates came and after picking at the tiny portions, another 20 minutes passed without our crudo. We again had to flag down our waiter and asked about our last dish ("oh, the Brussels sprouts?" he said). We ended up just cancelling it, because clearly it'd been forgotten and no one was making it in the kitchen. Tbh I was confused because it seemed like our entire table had been forgotten somehow. The food itself was not bad, quite creative. Honestly a shame that the service is unable to deliver this food out to customers in a timely fashion. However, the portions were very small and I left hungry. After spending $50 pp on a meal, I'd hope to not leave hungry. I don't usually write reviews like this, but this was just an egregious lack of service and frankly a waste of time and money. read more

So happy that Columns has opened up in the neighborhood. The restaurant is pretty big! Beautifully decorated. The staff were kind and the service was attentive. They have a great selection of food, wine, beer and cocktails. I love their toast boards. I had the Dragoncello Fizz drink and it was very strong!! It's got a pleasant vibe that manages to feel upscale and casual at the same time, with none of the pretentiousness you might expect at a wine bar. Very airy feel, with tables throughout the open floor layout and some seats at the bar. The wine was good, pretty straightforward menu. Glasses seemed to range around $17+ as of July 2025. Yikes. Greasy food and lifeless service. Atmosphere is what brings this up to 2 stars. We went for happy hour on a Saturday. Our server asked us for our drink order and asked for our IDs, which is fine. When my partner said she forgot hers and I had mine, she just scoffed and did not say anything. She just left with our menus. My partner and I were a bit confused and were not sure what that response exactly meant. Later she just comes with my drink and again does not address anything. Drink tasted like vodka. Once the food came out, the honey from the brussel sprouts spilled on the table and our server just walked away despite watching it happen. We had the fries alongside the brussel sprouts and they were both just so greasy. Then, when we only ate half (greasy ass food is not my favorite as you can see), I asked for a takeout container and she gave us a few drops of sauce and placed the bag right in the spot where the honey spilled. Just felt like we were another table. I used to be a server and it's disappointing to see a server resort to just to working on autopilot. Will not recommend. read more

SHARP DEGRADATION IN QUALIFY AND DANGER FOR PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES!!! When I first went here I loved the place! Great aesthetic, decent happy hour, and pretty good food. However when I went here last night, it was obvious that the quality has surely degraded. I had to ask for a menu, the menu itself was a bit wonky and had stains. Worst of all, they blatantly disregarded my nut allergy and caused me to have a reaction. Before ordering I disclosed my allergy and was assured that it would be put in with the order. When the Brussels sprouts came, I took a bite and knew something was wrong. When I asked a server, I was assured that there were no nuts, just a seed crumble. My itchy mouth and danger sense said otherwise. Lo and behold that seed crumble had hazelnuts. I had to run out to get some allergy meds and when I was returned all I got was a sorry, offer to remake the food, and the specific item taken off of the bill. This disregard poses an actual health threat and I am lucky my reaction wasn't more severe read more

Cozy place. Loved that they had a coat rack so our stuff wasn't cluttering the small space. Brunch was SOLID. Really enjoyed the latkes that came with plenty of sour cream and apple sauce. They were thick, fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Best I've ever had! Fish sandwich came with house made potato chips that were addictive. Fish was tangy from the tartar sauce and otherwise melt in your mouth and beautifully flaky. Beautiful venue, thd aesthetic feels like a bar in West Village. The seating and table were stunning as well. It was a delight seeing this establishment amongst all the construction and vacant spots in Manhattan Valley. Staff was amazing the whole experience as well. Issues I had was the AC was not operating on one of the hottest days in spring. I ordered a wine flight which I thought was fine and the table next to be had a noticeable larger pour on their flight. Any time I see someone talk about a new gluten-free spot, I have to visit. We went to Columns Wine Bar for a brunch on a Saturday and were blown away. It's not just gluten free--almost EVERYTHING can be made gluten free. I'm not used to having so many options that I don't know what to choose! I ended up getting the avocado toast. I don't know where they get their gluten-free bread, but it's the best I've ever had. My friend got the egg scramble and we split the French toast. It was all so good. Beautiful wine bar in the area. Stopped here for dinner I grabbed a seat in the front which offered indoor/outdoor access as it the doors fully open. During a previous visit, I had a very disappointing experience. I waited at least 15 minutes to be seated, during which time several waiters saw me but did not acknowledge me or offer assistance. Eventually, a waiter approached, and I said I was happy to sit at the bar. Instead of seating me, he turned away and began serving someone else. I later spoke with the manager, John, who asked me to follow up by email and offered two complimentary drinks on my next visit as a gesture of goodwill. When I returned and presented the email, I was told the offer could not be honored by a server because management had changed. I understand that staff and management changes happen, but written commitments made by management should be communicated internally and respected. Unfortunately, this made the follow-up visit disappointing as well. read more

The waitress/host was very friendly, but we ordered chai lattes and were told 10 minutes later they were out of chai. We ordered coffees and they were luke warm. We ordered eggs and potatoes and gluten free bread. About 15 minutes later we received our eggs and potatoes and they were cold. We were starving so we ate them anyway. Then we asked for the gf toast and were told they were out. Columns Wine Bar received rave reviews on the GF communities on Instagram. We were extremely disappointed and feel it was not worth the hassle to get their from NJ Penn Station. We will never recommend and never go back. Also, have stopped following on Instagram. read more

After being here a few times we ended up loving their happy hour. that is, until they recently changed their happy hour menu. they took off a lot off a drinks and bite options, and changed the ones they did have with no warning. the bruschetta now comes with two big anchovies on top, which is not listed on the menu, and is extremely dangerous to anyone with an allergy as it was never on the dish in the first place. really sad to see the shift here :( read more

I live 4 blocks from this place and was very excited to try it. After putting in our order we waited a very long time for both drinks and food. When the food finally arrived we were missing an item and informed it was not available. Not after ordering, not while waiting, when the food arrived. After waiting a very long time for the new item a man who introduced himself as the GM said the new item would be comped. Great! Until we closed out. I left an 18% tip which I consider generous as the service wasn't great. Our young blonde waitress then rushed over to her manager complaining then marched back to the table to remind me on of our apps was comped and trying to pressure me to tip more. She's lucky she got the 18%. I approached the manager and said this was completely inappropriate and he excused her behavior as they were short staffed. The lack of staff explains the crappy service not the entitled attitude of the server. I worked in hospitality for a decade and you NEVER approach a table about their tip amount.
