The escargots were the best I've had in a long time, and is a go-to item for me any French place I go. Very tender and not overly parsley forward like some can be. The duck was cooked perfectly, rendered and crispy while remaining to temp Staff were helpful when needed, didn't constantly check in. I'd call it "French style" where you should ask if you need because they don't coddle you and constantly check in, which I prefer. It's a bit small but that's neither good nor bad, just what it is. The "casual fine dining" they're going for is the perfect description. I felt neither over nor under dressed in a button up short sleeve and a nice pair of jeans. Side notes: 5% discount for cash. The RW fish was the salmon from the menu I was here with a small group recently for their 2025 Restaurant Week menu having been prior to their sister restaurant Taureau. The RW menu is a very good deal and we all left stuffed. The restaurant is small and most of the folks eating were older which is expected for this area (and especially a brasserie.) The temperature was a bit warm but was adjusted several times throughout the meal and the two staff were nice. I didn't bother with a drink while two others had a glass of their sweet white wine with their meals which was $10. They gave us some good bread with some very cold butter (perhaps a bit much so it was a bit hard to spread) to munch on. I started with the Foie Gras au Torchon with toasted sour dough bread as well as grape and apple confit which was listed as a signature. It came with three substantially large pieces of foie. The grape accompaniment was my preference of the two fruits as the texture went well while the apple was almost like a sour apple sauce. The foie gras had good texture and this was a rich satisfying dish. Another person got what I got, three others had the Escargots à la Bourguignonne listed as baked 1/2 dozen escargots stuffed with butter, garlic, shallots, and parsley, and one last person got the French Onion Soup listed with toasted bread with Swiss au gratin and they all enjoyed their appetizers. For my main dish, I went with the Filet de Boeuf Poêlé Truffle Sauce listed as a seared filet mignon with veal stock truffle sauce. The steak was moderately sized and cooked perfectly with a few thin slices of black truffle. The sauce was excellent with some earthiness and sweetness. The dish unexpectedly came with some pommes frites which was a nice touch and said fries were thin and nice and crispy. This was overall very tasty with the sauce being the definite highlight. The dishes came served with fresh vegetables on the side for two to share consisting of a few pieces of roasted cucumber, squash, and chayote along with a pumpkin puree which matched those served at Taureau (there might have been carrots to replace one of them.) Otherwise, several people had the Braised Rabbit Dijonnaise listed as being with a white wine dijon lightly creamed sauce which was a smaller portion by comparison with the rabbit almost being prepared like a sausage and they enjoyed it. Another person had the Oven Roasted Cornish Hen au Jus which was served with fries like my dish but lacked a sauce and he preferred my dish after trying my sauce. All 6 of us for dessert went with the Croquant au Caramel listed as a puff pastry stuffed with vanilla Grand Marnier custard and topped with caramel. This was a tasty dessert being lightly sweet with a good soft puff pastry. Nothing notable but better than the usual crème puff or similar you find. It was small but satisfying. This was an excellent deal for Restaurant Week with better options than most French spots. Good portion sizes and good flavors. Would recommend read more

For our appetizers, I ordered the escargots à la bourguignonne and my friends ordered the French onion soup. We all enjoyed it and thought it was delicious. For our entree, I ordered the salmon with mushroom sauce which was the fish of the day and my friends ordered the seared hanger steak sauce au poivre with French fries. Also served with fresh vegetables on the side. We thought the portions were good and tasty. I couldn't stop eating my friend's fries, they were perfectly cooked and crispy. The desserts were amazing and mouthwatering, we all ordered the croquant au caramel and my other friend got the choux chantilly. My favorite among all the appetizers was the French onion soup! The soup was very rich and flavorful and the melty cheese on top was to die for! For the entree, we thought the salmon was just okay. It was cooked well and tasted pretty good but nothing too special about it. We also got the chicken, which was very juicy and the skin was crispy. Among all the entrees that we ordered, our favorite was the steak! We had to pay extra for the steak but it was so worth it! The steak was so tender and the sauce was very savory. Lastly, desserts! To be honest, I think the desserts were pretty average. The banana brûlée and croquants Au caramel were too sweet for me. The profiteroles was probably the only one that I would recommend. We ordered a few apps and one main plate to share. Salad de Betteraves, steak tartare, escargots and foie gras. All GF and flavorful. As a main we chose the chicken plate. I've been craving French food and what better way to try La Sirene The restaurant was a vibe and so happy we got a table next to the window. This was an early dinner and the food did not disappoint! Escargot was super bomb! Eating with the bread and dipping the garlic sauce -- so good. I already miss it. French Onion Soup was super dense and tasty -- I actually couldn't finish it cause it was just so heavy. But the flavor packs a punch. This place is about a 3.5-4 for me. My friend and I shared French onion soup and French ravioli for appetizers and these were the highlight of our meal! Both were rich in flavor. The French onion soup wasn't too salty and the truffle actually stood out in the ravioli!! I hate when dishes say they are truffle flavored but you can barely taste it. They do a good job with this dish. The teeny tiny pieces of ravioli are so cute fun too eat one at a time. For our entree, we shared the duck breast. It was okay. I've had more tender and flavorful duck breasts before but it wasn't bad! The sauce paired nicely without being overwhelming. The fries were okay. Not a fat of thicker cut fries to begin with please they lacked seasoning. For dessert we got the banana brûlée which I wasn't a fan of. First time coming to this location and for lunch. Used to go to the Tribeca location often for dinner, the steak foie gras is such a good comfort food. Still dreaming of it from time to time ... There's outdoor section that is well thought out, 4x4 tables along the corner wall, covered and some more tables curbside, also covered and decorated with plants. Complimentary bread and butter is good, sometimes restaurants serve you next day bread and some prepackaged butter taken out from the fridge not too long ago. Not here, thank you. Ordered escargots, French onion soup, and Cornish hen. The escargots were swimming in garlic and butter, and I liked that as it went well with the baguette. When you dine French, forget about the calories! Can burn it later at the museum or Central Park. The soup and hen were a delight as well. Surprisingly to some, this does not extend to French cuisine, where whole swathes of Manhattan are utterly bereft of delectable and honest French fare. Enter La Sirène. Nestled on a tidy parcel of New York--the corner of 80th and Amsterdam--La Sirène stands as a sturdy and neighborly redoubt against the prevailing winds of overwrought and overpriced French restaurants that have long infiltrated our food scene. La Sirène's dimly lit and charmingly decorated space, provides the perfect perch from which to observe the city's ever-flowing hustle and bustle, all while enjoying authentic and delicious Bistro classics. The Steak Tartare is one of the standouts in the City. The protein is cut into perfectly symmetrical cubes, appropriately seasoned with egg, shallots, mustard, etc., before finally being coaxed into a compact and carnivorous puck as good as any one might stumble upon in Paris. The seared Foie Gras with Balsamic Glaze is an increasingly rare treat, and while it's executed well here, the center remains slightly cool, detracting just a bit from the otherwise rich experience. This is a dish that would be considered "passé" and thus removed from many menus across the country, much to the detriment of their collective palates, I say. The Onglet and Duck Breast with Cranberry Sauce are expertly cooked and are indulgently satisfying with the accompanying sauces and frites. Finally, the famously plump Profiteroles are always stuffed to the gills with ice cream before being brought over to the table to be ceremoniously drowned in a decadent chocolate sauce. An apposite ending to a very good meal. The staff are attentive and personable. The atmosphere is cozy and decidedly "New York." The crowd is usually local and low key. The steak was cooked to perfection (medium-rare) with butter and lots of garlic and super flavorful, the fries were kind of on the cold side or a little lifeless I'll be honest probably seems like they had it on standby My fish had crispy crinkly skin (not for everyone) but I happen to love fish skin...the spinach was ok but the most impressive was this complimentary side dishes of veggies which we just kept eating - it changes but ours was carrot purée, squash, hericot vert aka tiny string beans, and slices of zucchini I think. But the entree went downhill. We both got the hanger steak, which is supposed to be a signature dish. It was really greasy, a little chewy, and extremely garlicky (and I absolutely love garlic so that's saying a lot). I would not recommend ordering that at all.
