I went in the other day because I wanted a boba drink. Big mistake. I ordered a mango smoothie boba what I got was an ice mango boba with tea pore in the drink and she was shaking it. It had no flavor at all and was $9 way more than a Starbucks drink that I get for $7.25 that tasted way better. I will not return. read more

Don't judge the looks of this place from the outside. Very friendly family owned restaurant. I ordered the pho with beef balls and beef slices. I was impressed by how hot and flavorful the broth was. The broth came out nice and hot. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the overall taste of the pho was amazing. Also very generous portion sizes of the pho. There were ample amounts of noodles, broth, and meat in the bowl, making it a very satisfying meal. I appreciated that the restaurant who also leaves the condiments out on the table so you can adjust the broth flavor a bit. As an appetizer, I ordered the spring rolls with shrimp and grilled pork. They were served fresh and the combination of shrimp and grilled pork was a great choice. The peanut sauce that came with the spring rolls was also very tasty and complemented the dish perfectly. Tasty vietnamese food! Good for groups! Dined here with a few friends during a weekday evening. Expect some traffic getting here from Roseville especially during commute hours. The restaurant was open for indoor dining, tables were nicely distanced from each other. The menu was extensive offering primarily Com tấm dishes. Com tấm translates to broken rice. They specialize in broken rice or vermicelli with a variety of BBQ meats. This is one of the signature dishes of Vietnamese cuisine and to my understanding people in Vietnam eat Com tấm anytime of the day --- breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Hubby and I ordered the same thing... #28 Broken Rice w/ BBQ Pork and BBQ Shrimp. Our food came pretty quick! Oh man, that pork was tasty and delicious! I don't know what marinade they used but it added a garlicky, lemongrassy flavor that paired great with the pork. The pork was grilled and it added an amazing aroma and sear, and as if the chops aren't flavorful enough, they're topped with scallions. Absolute deliciousness!!! Others in our group ordered different combinations of the broken rice. Everything looked scrumptious. Each meal came with veggies. Small bowls were provided for dipping fish sauce. We were given a huge bottle of fish sauce for our table (see pic). Service was speedy and the owner (?) was friendly. I don't eat a lot of Vietnamese food so I don't consider myself a connoisseur and I thought there was only pho! LoL! When I return I'm getting the same thing... #28 (I'm a creature of habit). Found a gem on Yelp so we wanted to try it. We came here on a Sunday around brunch time and order a couple of rice plates and a bowl of Pho. The folks in here were nice and welcoming. First time in for indoor dining, party of 6, close at 7:30PM. Best to enter the lot from Fruitridge rather than Stockton. The sign just says "Dat Thanh" restaurant and not the full name as listed here (Stockridge Plaza). At most Vietnamese places I will get spring rolls, vermicelli noodles or pho, but this place had almost 2 pages of the menu of the com tam (broken rice plates) listed and it's in the restaurant name, so I had to try it. I'm not too familiar with Vietnamese street food. There are photos on the walls for some things but the server also provided a little photo "album" with each menu item and number with a picture to flip through as well if the description wasn't enough to help you decide. I ordered the Special Combination (Com Tam Dac Biet) #5: Broken Rice with Shredded Pork Skins (roasted rice powder), Egg Cake (steamed omelet with meatloaf), BBQ Beef, BBQ Shrimp, and Fried Shrimp Cake ($15.95). Cucumber, lettuce, pickled carrot and radish, and fish sauce! Broken rice as the name suggests, are rice grains damaged during harvesting, milling or transportation. While there is nothing wrong with the broken gains, they are deemed inferior and considered low grade because they are not perfect grains. Due to the different shapes and sizes of the rice, broken rice has a softer texture compared to "unbroken" rice and absorbs flavors easily. It also cooks faster making it a popular choice for rice dishes that need long cooking times. I have actually seen broken rice for sale at SF Supermarket but didn't really think about who was marketed to/for. Traditionally the main protein is pork for this dish, but I was super happy with my decision. The fried shrimp cake reminded me of crispy fried shrimp balls you get at dim sum! The egg cake was savory with the filling but the steamed texture was nice too. The pork skins were interesting with the roasted rice powder. The BBQ beef was perfect and the BBQ shrimp were decent sized for the one skewer. Also came with a bowl of soup/broth. At one point the server made sure we were using the fish sauce -- such a huge bottle provided for the table! I finished everything except maybe the lettuce and green onion garnishes, so good. Huge portions! The others at the table got BBQ Pork+BBQ shrimp (2x#28), BBQ beef+BBQ shrimp (#21), and Beef Ribs+BBQ Shrimp special combination (2x#6). Huge portion sizes. The food is excellent, except I've had much better Pho elsewhere. They charge a 3% fee for credit cards, so use debit or cash. The things I don't quite like was the ambience, which is stale. There was one music track that was on a loop the entire time I was eating that was distracting. And the surrounding area is sketchy to me. A few homeless walking around the parking lot. Two visits within a week to get a bowl of phô, and a #36 and #41 with hot tea. The service is perfect, quick, and they serve you water without having to ask. You can access a togo container and pay when you are ready which means a comfortable environment to utilize during the meal. The vermicelli bowls are 10/10, the phô is okay! The egg rolls are even better! They even give you a full bottle of fish sauce for your noodles!! My boyfriend loved the homemade sriracha blend sauce. We just got off the plane. Yelp directed us here as the group wanted pho and Vietnamese coffees before we checked into our hotels. The establishment is a dive, mom and pop shop. Usually they produce the most authentic, best tasting food at a reasonable price at places like this. We were looking forward to our lunch. Surprisingly the dining area was empty on a Friday. We ordered 10 bowls of pho, 6 iced coffees, and a flavored boba tea. The flavor of the pho broth was off for us. Perhaps our group got a watered down pot? We all loaded it with hoison and sriracha but nothing could save it. Unfortunately the broth was shot. But the meat was fresh and so were the herbs. They gave plenty of noodles though. I prefer more noodles than meat and other toppings. The iced coffee was heavenly. It was the perfect drink for a hot September day. Definitely helped us to stay alert and fight a little jet lag. It was not overly sweeten. You can taste the bitter coffee and the creaminess. However, too much ice for my liking. Service was prompt. We didn't get our waters refilled immediately. We had to wave someone over for that. They forgot an order of boba for my 3 year old niece so when we eventually got it, she took it to go. Sacramento being such a populous Asian community, we were expecting a better pho experience. I honestly never thought anything to be special about rice and bbq meat, especially if it's something you can make at home. Long story short, my Vietnamese friend took me to his favorite broken rice plate restaurant in the Bay Area and I was so into it that I had to find something similar in Sac. Thank God I found this gem because it's SO GOOD! I have been here a few times now with my bf. We always get take out and we always have left overs, especially when we each have our own plates. Their bbq is marinated perfectly and has such good flavor. They give so much rice and veggies to eat with your meal. Really, a great bang for your buck and it tastes great!! It's been a while since I have had bun bo hue and this was the closest to work that would not be too hard to get in and out quickly. The spring rolls was good and I like the fact that they provided a different sauce, something other then your typical nuoc mam sauce. The bun bo hue was ok, I wish it was spicier. Maybe that was my bad, I didn't request for spicier. I'll go back and give it another try. My friend ordered the large pho... man, it looked like they gave him 2 lbs of noodles.
