I love this park! Very spacious and is surrounded by lush greenery with a view of the hills. The playground has two areas, one for toddlers and one for bigger kids. My 3 yr old son enjoyed going to the big kids' slide! He had a blast and didn't want to leave.

Very small South San Jose neighborhood park that's sandwiched between two schools (Challenger & Herman Middle School). There's not much to this park. Here is my report: 1) Playground that's in some serious need for an upgrade. The structure is so old that it makes this place seem abandoned by the City, but it hasn't -- more on that later. It's also supposedly designed for children aged 2-11 according to the sign posted, but my 3-year old was done with it in less than half-an-hour. I can't imagine anyone above the age of 5 getting any enjoyment out of this thing. 2) Huge grassy fields that are in decent shape. 3) Benches. No picnic tables just benches. Hey I'm trying to stay positive, but this place is making it difficult. 4) NO restrooms. That about sums it up I suppose. I feel bad bashing this place, but it is what it is. However, it's not all bad news for poor ol' Comanche Park. I was able to obtain some (not-so) super-secret City documents and there is some money (around 900k!) slated for this fiscal year and next for some improvements to Comanche. The way the money is broken up it seems like they'll be doing the design work this fiscal year (2013-2014) and the actual construction next fiscal year (2014-2015). After they're done building it I will gladly come back and update my review, but until then I don't think I'll be visiting this park again.

Clean park. Very fun structures. Not under shaded areas. Neighborhood park, nice grassy areas around under big trees perfect for picnics.

My little one and I went to Comanche park because I heard that playground had been recently remodeled. The play area was new with one structure for younger kids and one for older kids. My little one had a blast. The only downside is that there are no bathrooms so I am only giving it 4 stars. There is a nice review that you can find here - http://svtoddler.blogspot.com/2015/08/playground-review-comanche-park-san-jose.html.

Super clean park, just wish they had a little bit more to do for younger ones. If your kid is 3 or older they should have a blast!

Very nice clean park. Lots of small children from babies to toddlers. Has a lot of different slides and webs to climb.

Awful park. No bathroom. No picnic table. No shade. You can find better parks in sj, skip this one

I really like this park for my daughters. I just wished they had more shades around the eating area and the playground itself.

What kind of park has a zipline?!? THIS ONE. Two seating options, one with a harness for toddlers,…read morethe other for older kids (I even saw adults using this). The park also offers a fun and inclusive space for children, with climbing structures, sturdy cement slides, swings for both toddlers and older youth, a see-saw, merry-go-round, trampoline, and spongy material making up the ground's surface. The occasional squirrel, lizard, and butterfly too. As an adult simply looking for a place to relax while waiting for my car at an auto shop nearby, I was pleasantly surprised to find this park accommodating. Dirt and concrete trails weaving through the garden, lovely vegetation in spring, and a good amount of picnic tables and benches scattered throughout. Also, a shady area with fake grass and seats made out of smoothed-out logs and tree trunks, as well as adirondack chairs where I was able to hang out and nap while I was there. It wasn't too crowded or crazy on a Friday morning, though it got busier as it neared noon time. In addition, the place offers a parking lot and clean restrooms for convenience.

The play garden has everything kiddos love -- slides, one seesaw, one round spinner, one rope climbing thing (that can also spin), swings (bucket and standard), small water play area, and a Zipline (one for little kids 3+ and one for older kids). They also have an area with tables, where someone was having a party (no idea if reservations are needed though). Expect to wait in line for a turn of the park is crowded. The play garden is fenced off from the rest of the park. They have a restroom on site. They have a small parking lot that is nearby the entrance of the play garden. I noticed some people parked on a smaller side street and walked over. I'm not sure what other parking options there are otherwise. We would return if we're in the area again and if it's less busy. It's a solid park and play area for those who live nearby.

We visited during our trip to San Diego & oh my goodness, it was absolutely amazing…read more This is such a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. Located inside Balboa Park, you can tour the museums in the area, but don't forget to stop and take a moment to smell the flowers at the Japanese Friendship Garden... There were so many beautiful birds, butterflies, koi, and plants I've never seen before. The grounds were very clean and well manicured. Pricing to get in was about $60 for a family of 4 (including student pricing for our children) which may be a bit steep if you have young children with thin patience.. however, if you are able to come in and find your Zen for a couple hours, this is the spot to do so. They offer free crafts for visitors- when we were there they were doing an origami workshop, which seemed very fun. However, our kids weren't up For it- so we did not participate. Would definitely visit again in the future!

The parking fee is....fair which means you only need to come here once or twice a year. To get to the Japanese garden you need to walk a bit to find the big gate? In terms of size it is medium length. Still being built yet good enough to walk around. Lots of lush green views and refined scenery verdant for miles. You could even think of it as a mini nature get away from the busy city life It's worth the trip and you could visit the other parks if you have time for it
