Had a very relaxing 60-minute foot massage for only $29. I was happily surprised when the masseuse (Andy) began with a head, neck and arm massage before he started on my calves and feet. I am pregnant, so it was perfect for me to be able to sit in a reclined chair. I am looking forward to returning!!! So relaxed and rejuvenated. Music was nice, and I was able to tune out the people coming and going in the shared open space. I've gone here three times now and it is always excellent. $25 for a 1 hour massage is a great deal, too. This isn't the traditional massage where you get completely undressed in a private room under a sheet and yada, yada. This is more of an "in an out" type of deal. You basically walk in, sit down, pull your shoes off and away you go. I like that the place is quiet, dark and relaxing. The employees are also skilled which is cool, too. First visit here today. I'm a new local resident and there are 3 or 4 of these type places within close proximity of each other in Old Monterey. I started with this place....and l can safely say l will now check them off my list of ever returning. There was one client in there and one massage therapist when l walked in. The place looks clean, but it was cold inside and l ended up waiting for about 15 minutes before another massage therapist came in to serve me. Her name was Yoyo....and while she did an ok job on my massage...her insistence to give her a bigger tip than the 20% tip l offered her, put me right off. This is so completely fucking rude, and l've seen this type of thing before at Asian spas. Even if they don't actually say anything, they complain under their breath and smirk if they feel you have "stiffed" them. I know they probably don't make much, but if they aren't being compensated enough for their liking ...the LAST thing they should do is try and take that out on the customer. They don't seem to either care or grasp the concept of trying to have repeat clients. I could have been a regular who consistently booked, and tipped, resulting in regular income. This is regarding the Lighthouse St. location - I have gone to ComFOOT SPA on Lighthouse around 15 times, and each time I was very happy with the service and the massage - I always leave between a ten and twenty dollar tip, since I ask for extra firm foot massages. Today, I went after a very stressful weekend. After I went to pay the $25 (reasonable) fee, I asked for ones with my change since I was going to school and planned to use the vending machine - I guess the guy thought that I was going to give him a few dollar tip - actually, I planned to give him ten - however, he was so rude about the change, that I handed him a $5 bill as a tip, which he threw back at me and waved at the door angrily, basically ordering me out - I won't be going back unfortunately. read more

I've been to a LOT of these places up and down the coast from San Diego to Seattle. This is definitely one of the better ones. Most have a similar routine: head neck and shoulders for 10-15 min while your tootsies soak, 20-25minutes of foot rub, 15-20 min of back rub. All in all I had a wonderful massage. The guy (didn't get his name) was firm but not so hard that I was in pain (of course, I like a deep, hard rub down). It wasn't the hurt-so-good that I usually like getting but it relaxed me oh-so-wonderfully. The thing that impressed me was the quiet of this place. My experience with these places is that the workers are chatting to each other, sometimes incessantly (and annoyingly). This room full of men whispered to each other when they had to but I never got the impression that they were chatting (I wouldn't know. I don't speak Chinese...). The guy answering phones spoke quietly AND their phone ringer was on silent!!!!!!! Thank you thank you! Comfoot spa has gone that extra step to make the environment as serene as possible (given you can have 10 clients and 10 masseur in one big room). I'm a big fan after My first visit. I have gone back a few times, and I am very happy with it. I realized that it is not a relaxing massage, but it is very good for my muscles. Some days the face opening in the chairs is better than others. But it's still worth it overall, especially to work on the knots in my back. The price/value is very good. Great to see this place getting the reviews it deserves. Looks like people have finally figured out that this is not a spa. One room, very quiet, a dozen big cushy chairs that transform into massage "tables", serious cleanliness, and firm, deep tissue massage. They will put lotion on the parts of your body that are exposed like your feet and hands. I always wear a tanktop and they will throw some lotion on my shoulders as well:) This is not for the faint of heart. The water you soak your feet in is hot and the massage is DEEP. They go a full hour and do your whole body. It is amazing and a major bargain. I still haven't figured out why they charge $25 for an hour and $40 for hour and a half, though. They stay open until 10 pm and are even open on major holidays. Serious work ethic here and you will not be disappointed. read more

I used to LOVE this place. I've been going since mid-high school so since around 08/09. But the past two years or so it's gone COMPLETELY downhill. Same with their business on lighthouse. It feels like they're trying to rush through it as fast as possible, like you're an inconvenience. Not relaxing at all. And they don't understand the concept of gentle. The last time I was there (which will be my last time ever), I had to tell the guy FIVE TIMES to be gentle because he was physically hurting me to the point of tears. I even showed him with my own hands how soft I preferred it and he still didn't get the message. I left in tears and pissed that I had wasted my money on that. Never again, until they learn to train their people better. If you'd like a better foot reflexology massage, I'd HIGHLY recommend the place on Fremont. So much better. read more

If you are in Monterey, you have to hit this place for a foot massage. I was reluctant to go until I read some of the reviews. For $40 I got a 1.5 hour massage that started with a foot bath and ended with a seriously intense back, neck and shoulder massage. I get medical massage regularly and seriously needed one after a long flight. This place rocked. It was my first time getting a massage with other people in the room (there are about 10 massage chairs set-up) but I forgot where I was after about 5 minutes of foot rubbing. They dig their elbows into your shoulder blades, grinds your tendons the only almost decent part was the leg massage which lasted maybe 30 seconds a leg. Grind their elbows into your tailbone. We did the 90 minute foot massage which includes the entire body for $50. This is not a Spa like in a hotel. No robes or sitting in a sauna beforehand. It is a cultural experience where there are 8 wide chair/beds in a quiet room. They soak your feet for while when they were working on my head, neck, arms. I never knew that I knots in my feet! My favorite "foot massage" place in the area, and I've tried them all...even the ones that are closed now. Lockers right out in the open to secure your belongings, $25 (add a $5 tip at least, please!) for an hour, totally worth it. At this price I can afford to bring my son, who says it feels like he is "floating on a cloud" afterwards. Bring cash, and just give up trying to verbally communicate...all they want you to do is point to the price/time on the menu that you want to buy. Free parking on the street is an even bigger bonus! I always just walked in (probably 6 trips to this location) and never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Disappointed. Called to make an appointment for two 7:30pm 90 minute massages. It sounded like whoever answered was on a cell phone in a car, I had to give my name at the end of the conversation. Fast forward to the evening. At approximately 6pm I called to see if we could push the time 15 minutes later, I even stated if that wouldn't be convenient we would still make the 7:30 time. No problem, just come to our other location. We showed up @7:35 for a 7:45 appointment & was told they had no time until 8:30 and they close @9pm. I called the number back and was told to hold to see if somewhere in Monterey could take us. I was on hold for a while....this was turning into a pain, when this evening out which doesn't happen often was going south...we just decided to head home. This place is incredible. For $25 you get a full body massage in a quiet and comfortable setting. I have to preface that it isn't a private room with the traditional "custom" massage work. It's an open room with other people getting all the same or similar treatment. You stay clothed and only if you are a guy you just take your shirt off. They do so much in just that 60 minute time frame. The therapists consisted of all men when I went which was totally fine. The staff was friendly and accepted my girlfriend and I as a walk in. Bottom line: 5* for being the best value for a massage in Monterey. I came to Comfoot expecting a cost-effective massage, but they happily exceeded my expectations. I come to Monterey yearly, and last year I had the misfortune of going into Happy Feet massage. My experience at Happy Feet became the butt of my jokes for the past year. Needless to say, we never ventured back there again. I digress, Comfoot Spa offers a similar style massage (full-body clothed plus "reflexology"), but unlike Happy Feet, they do it right. They took me right away- awesome. I asked for extra pressure, and she accommodated. A different masseuse entered following the facial massage, and kept the pressure up to my liking. I felt great after. Now I want to explain what makes Comfoot a little different: Sanitation. They have a very clean and accessible bathroom- no joke, try and ask Happy Feet to use theirs (Where do the workers wash their hands there?). Venturing to the back, I also saw their washer and dryers- very assuring, as they put towels all over your body during the experience. It was nice to know the facilities were sanitary. The receptionist (owner?) was very nice and spoke English very well. I'm happy to see they're still in business, as these types of businesses tend to disappear due to the lack of exposure. I have had more than my fair share of massages, and this is by no means a 5-star massage, but is close to the best thing $25 can buy. If you've got some sore muscles, or just need to relax, definitely give this place a try. read more

Even though the curtains on the windows and door, and the classy neon sign, scream "rub and tug", this is not such a place. Instead, they offer two different type of reflexology massage. Reflexology, for those who don't know, is an ancient Chinese word meaning, "Make round-eye suffer." For $40, you can have a well trained torturologist rub the point of his elbow into your back, but only in places that will make your teeth clench in pain. Lack of English communication skills led to an hour of the most unrelaxing massage I've ever had. My mistake. People must love it though, because the place was pretty busy. There must be a lot of sadists in Monterey. Three stars for cheap, friendly, and clean, -1 for the searing pain and -1 for the lack of communication. read more

Among other things, they "massage" your back while you're lying on your back, use their fingernail to literally scratch inti your foot and then after it all, assume a tip. They really take time to massage your feet so it is very relaxing.The only time I didn't enjoy my time was when a man was snoring like a bear, but even through all the noise my massage was great. Getting a massage here is commensurate to getting a manicure at the mall: nothing fancy, but does the trick. From the outside, the place definitely feels a little sketchy- no visibility of the interior whatsoever and a tacky neon "Open" sign above the front door. Once inside, however, the vibe is much more comfortable. I was greeted by a friendly lady at the front desk and led promptly to my massage chair. The massage itself was very thorough- head, feet, hands, arms, legs, neck, back- and everything felt clean.
