The food we great! It is CASH ONLY, no atm on site. This place has a great mission to support recovery and addiction. I will definitely be back next time I go to the smithville Sunday farmers market, just across the street.

Love everything this place stands for. This one is a little different from the location I went to in San Antonio as you order at the counter and they bring the food out & you pay afterwards for most items. Nobody really checked on us after our food & bill was dropped & I had to walk back to the front counter to pay. It's pay what you can with a suggested 15$ donation per entree- all the funds are going it back into facilitating programs to those who strive to recover. One thing I loved about SA location was hearing the story from our server about how she overcame addiction and what her "why" was. So I was a little sad not to get this interaction at the smithville location. Food was great, large servings forsure. Breakfast potatoes could have used a little more seasoning. The Vietnamese coffee was delish! However they don't have the large coffee selection at this location either and I sure was looking forward to a "flight" of iced coffees. Deff will come back when I can and recommend anyone to take the drive or make the stop at least once as your contributions make a world of difference not only to the addicts themselves but their families & the food doesn't disappoint!

Another 5 star experience @ the Comfort Cafe, Smithville! The cheeseburger was big and juicy, the patty melt was loaded with carmelized onions and the served on marble rye toast! The food is sooooo delicious- it's magical. Not kidding! You have to try the breakfast potatoes... loaded! (The staff is sober... but the potatoes are loaded...hahaha) Fun friendly staff... and the coolest vibe of any place I've ever eaten!

Jalapeño Popper Omelette. Sooo goood. Hash Brown casserole n rye toast.

We've been coming to CC for years. The drive from Katy is well worth it. If you're a foodie, you got to come to this place. It's truly a bucket list place. CC has so much history- too much to put here. It may not be the only restaurant to not publish prices, but their reason is truly unique. Most everything is made from scratch. Portions are plenty. Flavors are hard to beat. If there's a line, wait. No alcohol- you'll understand. Cash only. Be hungry.

I have had this establishment on my list to try out for a while now. Finally tried it Saturday morning with my family. They do accept cash only or check so make sure to come prepared. There are no prices on any of the food on the menu. Keep in mind they say donation as suggested $15 per plate. We ordered a pancake kids meal for my daughter and my husband orders a hash bfast and I ordered the blueberry compote pancakes and let me tell you, they did NOT miss! Everything was so fresh and hot. So fresh and homemade. I cannot wait to come back to try more items. My daughter's pancake was Mickey Mouse and she loved it! Great service, friendly faces and love the art and ambience of the area we will be back soon.

Oh wow! I don't know where to start. The staff is so friendly, and so open about their past. And the food is absolutely amazing. Listen people! If you come here, and you eat, you will be a happy person! So awesome! The service, the food, the intent behind this whole organization is just absolutely unbelievable. You will be pleased. You will be glad you came here. So please do so. In health and happiness! Danny

Note it's cash only and purely donation based with suggested donation amounts per person provided. This restaurant is a branch of a charity assisting with addiction rehabilitation and everyone who works there is in the charity program from job experience and assistance getting back on their feet. All the proceeds go right back to the charity and the people working there. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The space is cute and cozy and feels like your grandmas living room in the best way. The food was delicious and the servings are huge!

You pay for what you think it's worth! And it is so good!

The food here was amazing. There were 8 of us and it was an easy wait to get a table. We all had a mish mash of breakfast and lunch items all of which were excellent. The restaurant was clean and very well decorated along with an incredible staff!

Absolutely Amazing! So we decided to take a road trip to Smithville to see the sights and i am glad we did. After driving through the town, we noticed this eclectic restaurant with some art work outside. We stopped, parked and made our way inside. BTW they have a huge outdoor area for games and hanging out. Inside there is a huge menu on the wall you can order from as well as daily specials. The food is amazing. Very filling and a self serve syrup station! If you heading to Smithville, do yourself a favor and stop here!

And they keep the place exceptionally clean. Our server made us feel very welcome even though we showed up just before closing time (they close at 2 pm Tue - Sun and are closed all day Monday). Half the menu was breakfast and the other half was lunch. Beverages were colas, coffee, tea, lemonade and horchata. Lunch here is your typical Mexican lunch menu: tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, etc. They also had two specials today: Enchiladas Verde and Quesabirria Tacos. We tried and enjoyed both. The enchiladas had a lot of chicken in them. And while the birria lacked its typical au jus to dip the tacos in, they were still quite authentic and flavorful. The complimentary chips and salsa comes with a bean dip, and with two additional chile options, a spicy red chile and a chile verde. It was nice having all those options. For a healthier option, they also offer a large bowl of tortilla soup with spanish rice on the side. I'm not sure why they choose to open a Mexican restaurant right next to a Mexican restaurant, but the two restaurants are very different and keep different hours. We will come back to try their breakfast, as that appears to be their specialty.

I usually call in our order when we are about 20 minutes away from our stop. Everytime I call in the order the person on the other end is friendly and repeats back what we order. The convenient store part of Hruska's has a lot of items that you can choose from to purchase and they have clean bathrooms which is a positive. When we get there we park, walk in and head to pick up our food at the counter. It's usually labeled with the ticket stapled to the bag. We then get in line to pay for our food. The line is usually backed up but moves fairly quickly. There is also a small area with tables and chairs that you can sit at and enjoy your meal or sit there if you need a rest. For my meal I usually order a Hamburger which comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. I usually get mine with mustard. Their burgers are so good and a good size. Overall Hruska's is a great stopping place while traveling. Whether it's for gas, a bathroom break, or if you want to grab something to eat this is a one stop shop place.

Arguably one of the greatest foods ever invented. Atleast in my world. How can you go wrong with bread filled with sweet or savory fillings? Hruska's is about halfway between Houston and Austin and a perfect rest stop to fill up on gas, use the clean facilities, grab a snack or indulge in their amazing baked goods. They are steeped in history and have been around for decades passing along the family recipes. It's obviously improved structurally over the years from a country store and looks like a modern gas station now. It's always pretty busy every time I have stopped in, but they are a well oiled machine and keep the masses moving with excellent customer service. They have all your gas station essentials like snacks and beverages. What sets them apart is their bakery. Here, they label their kolaches as the traditional fruit filled variety. I like them, but they are never my first choice. I love the ones with meat inside. Here, they label these as pigs in a blanket. They have a large variety of both. I usually go for a regular sausage and cheese, but over here, they sell a delicious pan sausage kind. On top of all their sweet and savory baked goods, they also sell burgers on the grill. Their burgers have made it to the Texas Monthly Top 50 burger spots. I have yet to try it. Overall, this is an always stop place for me. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs and enjoy a delicious pastry while you're at it. I will definitely be back.

It took our server a little while to get to our table, but she arrived with waters in hand, which was appreciated. We started with the fried green tomatoes. Everything on the plate was delicious, from the thick-cut slab of bacon to the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I especially appreciated that the eggs were seasoned before cooking, something I don't often see at restaurants, and it really made a difference. The hash brown casserole was also fantastic and tied the whole meal together. My brother ordered the fried chicken biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
