The staff is awesome and knowledgable (even accountable...how rare is that?!?), the store filled with fun in every nook and cranny, and the customers are awesome to be around. A decent, small comic store that uses its limited space fairly well but remains slightly on the cluttered/dim/dusty side of the comic store spectrum, Comicazi scores bonus points for location: pretty much immediately outside a T-stop and right in front of the Somerville theatre, making it a great place to kill a little time when waiting for your movie or live event. If this isn't the closest comic store to where you live or you're not in the area anyway, I didn't really see enough that was truly special about this particular comic store that would justify a trip to THIS one as opposed to any of the other multitude of comic stores in the greater Boston area. The selection of new issues seemed decent, the graphic novel selection was good and well organized and they have one "library cart" of markdown graphic novels (mostly old & justifiably ignored stuff). Perhaps the strongest feature of this store is their expansive selection of action figures, both in and out of original packaging. That's the only thing you'll really find better here than at other comic stores within a few T-stops' radius. In summation: it'll do for your weekly fix if its your most convenient comic store, but if you don't live right there or have time to kill in the area, it's not really worth a special trip. read more

This is a big store with lots of stuff (comics, toys, collectables, t-shirts) The staff is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I LOVE Comicazi! I remember loving it the last time I visited too; too bad they're a bit of a hike from where I live. All around the perimeter of the store, they have vintage toys from floor to ceiling. I walked around half the time with my mouth hanging open, I was so enamoured. They have a gaming area in the back room, which is also where they have a few Rubbermaid bins filled with toys. I sat on the floor and rummaged through bins. I totally emptied one bin into my lap so that I could keep track of what I'd already seen. No one bothered me as I did. They also have tons of current comics and back issues. When I asked about the back issues I wanted, a clerk took them out of a box and set them on a stool for me so that I could look at them better. Unfortunately, I had all the back issues they had. The clerks were very friendly and helpful. And I got three "new" toys! Yay! If this store doesn't make you feel like a kid again, there's something wrong with your inner child. read more

Despite fancying myself an alpha nerd, i have to shamefully confess near-illiteracy regarding comic books. When the rowdy crowd applauded the post-credits stuff during "The Avengers", i'm like, "what the heck was that?" (Not the shawarma, obviously). As it turned out, it was a random selection from Yelp's events listing that brought me to Comicazi--a cookie festival! Since cookies are one of my major food groups, i could scarcely stay away. So off the girl and i hiked to Davis Square. This was a fascinating experience. For one, on a Saturday night, i was deeply shocked to enter a comic book shop to find women vastly outnumbering men (sorry, obvious joke, but try to have sympathy--i went to a school where the opposite was the case; dramatically so). But more entertainingly, the place was crammed with toys as much as it was comic books. New ones, old ones, ones i remember from the '80's. It was a good thing i was so distracted by all the cookies, else i might have spent an irresponsible amount of money on something wholly useless. But awesome. Anyway, i can't speak as to how good a comic book store it is, but all i know is that someday when my resolve is weak, i'll probably be back. read more

I am not a frequenter of comic book stores, but this place is everything I would expect from one and more. The guys who run it are true CBG's (Comic Book Geeks). They know everything there is to know about comics and can talk to you about them at length. This is a fun place to swing through when you are in the area. They have another location on Mass Ave in Arlington Heights which is much larger and just as good as this location. If you are a regular, they will assign you a box (kinda like a mailbox)and a number and will put books that you ordered or that you would like into it for you to check out the next time you go there. They care about what they do and can get anything for you if you can't find it in the store. read more

This store is huge! I discovered it while walking towards another store in Davis Square. I absolutely love it! It has a lot to offer from games to comics from all over the world and figurines for all ages. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They also have puzzles for both kids as well as adults. The prices are pretty reasonable. So if you are wanting to do last minute Christmas shopping this is the place to be. They also follow COVID safety protocols by limiting the number of people in the shop and ask you to sanitize your hand before coming in. read more

Every comic shop has a focus. This store is very toy focus. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. If you're in the market for old action figures, Card games, or board game characters, you will love this place. However, if you're a comic book fan, the selection of rare comics is pretty much nonexistent. There's a handful of comics on the wall that commanded a higher price. There is a good selection of back issues in the bins, but the condition wasn't all that great. I guess that explained the low prices on them. Bob took the time to flip through more than a hundred of them and was very upfront throughout about what he was seeing. I love this store. I could spend hours browsing, especially since they expanded. They have so much cool stuff. A great selection of comics, an incredible selection of toys, and something for everyone. And if by some chance they don't have what you're looking for, the super-friendly staff can probably order it for you. I was looking at something in one of the display case, and Mike was happy to open it up to check the price for me. He then opened another case to get a toy for my son. One of the best comic book shops in MA. It is a definite must visit if you're in Davis Square. For one thing, the comic book selection is fantastic. They have a good selection of toys and action figures (dolls ;). They have Magic the Gathering and Pokemon CCG. They also have a decent selection of board games. After getting off the red line yesterday I found myself stranded. My husband was supposed to pick me up but he was not where we were supposed to meet when I got there. I normally would just call but my iPhone was dead, so I wandered in to Comicazi to see if they had a charger. They didn't, but they were very nice and let me use their phone. When I finally got in touch with my husband I found out that he was stuck around the corner, my dog had pooped and he didn't have a bag to clean it up. Rather than leave and let someone step in dog poop he decided to stay and guard the area until I brought him a poop bag. Well, not only did the nice people at Comicazi let me use their phone, they also gave me a poop bag, without asking me to buy anything first. Very nice. The store itself also gets 5 stars. They have a wide variety of cool stuff, it is a mix of old and new. I take my nephew there when he comes to visit, and they let him play with the action figures and toys without getting annoyed. They are very kid friendly, they even engage him in conversations about his favorite super heroes. Kids also get a free comic. That being said, not everything is for kids, they have a great variety of books and collectors items that would be interesting to adults too. They are simply smart enough to have the store organized in a way that allows you to relax when you are with a child because it is easy to keep them away from the stuff that they should not touch. read more

It's been fine the times I've gone through browsing, a pretty decent layout for the space they have. But I was pretty turned off when I discussed getting a possible subscription from them. I had recently moved about a block away and needed a new comics shop. I was told the discount for having a subscription was based on the number of books I bought per month, but without actually telling me what the limit was. When I sent them my subscription list, which amounted to over $100 per month in books, I was told it wasn't enough to qualify me for their top-level 20% discount. Considering I was coming from a downtown Boston store that gives you 20% off if you buy 5 books a month or 500 a month, feeling like I'd be pressured to keep my buying at a high level just to get my discount to 20% wasn't what I was looking for. Definitely understand that everyone has to make their money, but as someone that spends over two grand a year in this industry, I was a little insulted to be told the value my business was mediocre at best. read more

This place is really lovely. Populated by friendly nerds(the absolute best kind) who're super helpful. Obvious cons: the place is super cluttered, and not in a make-sense, we-have-a-lot-of-stuff kind of way, but a there's-only-rhyme-or-reason-to-half-this-stuff kind of way. Collectibles that could/should be categorized together are on opposite ends of the store, et cetera. A non-initiate of the nerdly arts might feel a little intimidated. But keep an open mind to the tchotchke experience. Vintage 80's action figures are not out to get you. Obvious pros: When compared to my other favorite comics stop they've got a much wider selection of _stuff_, though if you're someone who doesn't care about useless pieces of plastic you probably won't be engaged on that level... Me? I _do_ care about useless pieces of plastic. I care so hard. Found here: Action figures, rare collectibles. Minis for warhammer, D&D, and heroclix. CCGs of all stripes. I could have spent the entire day here and still not covered all they have to show you. Not kidding, probably one the best comic & collectables shops I've ever been in. And I've been in a ton, in every state. I would consider this one my top one or two shops I've visited.. The selection is interesting and varied in every way you could think of. From loose figures, to mint on card, to statues, and high end (hot toys, sideshow, ECT), to vinyl collectables and plush . They even had a selection of original art from local and professional artists to pick from! Some great pieces on display here to purchase if you like original art. Do some role play gaming? They got that too! My son and I had a wonderful time exploring and playing with all the fun and wonderful stuff around. Everything was very very well and reasonably priced also. A great time. We were excellently helped by Alex, who had a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of everything they carried and was glad to answer any questions we had and was beyond the normal level of helpful.
