This is one of my go to comic stores here in SD. It's not a far drive from me but the parking lot is small so be aware when you come you may have to park on the street. I like this location the best as there usually isn't any kids here and only adults so it's not a hectic as the mall locations of kids running around. They have such a huge section of everything: Funko Pops, licensed merch, lanyards, plushies, action figures, model kits, new/old/kid/etc comics, graphic novels, and their whole wall of cards from sports to franchises and of course pokemon. I will warn you now don't buy their squishmallow or pokemon - its very very overpriced which I know what the market is going for but I recently saw a kid a big one for 90$. The same goes for Pokemon yet so many people buy from here as they're fully stocked. Just now its highly marked up eg: ETBs are like 90 and up. I come here for the comics because they have a wall of new ones and their hugeee back issue inventory. I usually always walk out of there with at least 25 bucks and easily more of comics trying to complete older sets. If you shop here a lot I recommend getting their membership it's a one time payment and you easily make your money back if you shop often. We came in on a Sunday night. My husband was looking at Pokémon cards. We asked the girl at the front for 5 packs and the girl looked at him and said "sorry, we close at 6pm" my husband looked at the clock and it was exactly 6pm. Instead of helping us check out and take the business she pretty much said she can't help and when we walked in no one mentioned anything about them closing when we walked in? Seems odd for a shop that looks like it could go out of business. No one was in there? I would not come back. What kind of store denies service when all we wanted to do was pay???? read more

First trip here was around 2012ish and I purchased a cool McFarlane Medieval Spawn statue that I had to fly back east with... price was fantastic and service super accommodating. Most recently, 2025, I dropped in again and found a very rare Michael Jackson piece I got as a gift, some cool comics and one rare Transformer g1 hardback, and that same friendly service/conversation I was hoping for. The second we walked in the employee, white man with glasses walked up to us asking if we were okay aggressively like if we did something. And almost blocked us from coming inside. The second we picked up some items by the entrance he approached us again and said be careful with those.... We just immediately walked out. This behavior is disgusting and felt racist af. read more

Disappointed in this shop to say the least. 16 year customer who has spent thousands of dollars here through the years...all the way back to when they had the X rated, 18 and up, backroom section. Went in to buy about $100 worth of comics today, (I typically spend $50-$100 each visit), and asked about the free comic book day and if they had any extra because I had to work on the actual free comic book day. One employee told me they should still have some and I'm welcome to one. The other guy there with a beard was very stand off is and told me they had extras but were saving them until next year and said I couldn't have ONE free comic book. He said they kept them all until next year to sell back. When I told him the other employee told me I could have one free one he stated that employee hadn't worked there long and told me to and I quote, "Get the fuck out of his shop," to which I replied, "Fuck you I'm never coming back." I won't ever be back to spend another dollar here. The service was never really friendly but I still liked the shop. I also want to add that one time while I was in here another customer was robbed and beaten up outside before the robbers sped off hitting 2 other cars on the way out. The shop workers didn't seem to care and didn't seem organized enough to call the police or adequately handle the situation. After a day of thinking about the items I sold this place for 50 bucks when it was well worth over 200 and remembering what the owner said and made fun of the last person that sold him there items and making 10k off of it feels like a super low budget pawn shop never am I ever coming here with anything after all the years I've brought stuff to them and gotten from them. There's way more shop that buy and sell comics and collectors toys. Makes sense that he has to pay rent to all the other shops he open up in every single mall. This is a really good store, with a great selection. Unfortunately, some of the staff here seem pretty racist. (I am black) I spend a decent amount of money here, and I am not going to say I feel mistreated... but... when you go to a cashier, and they do not speak to you, throughout a whole transaction, no thank you, nothing, it just lets you know. It was a young kid, 20's, so I'm not gonna start stuff with a young kid. A girl did thank us as we were leaving, so it's just a couple people there who don't appreciate all skin colors. UPDATE: DON'T SUPPORT THIS PREDATORY BUSINESS. The staff is always friendly but typically very uninformed. I have had employees in the card game section not know what inner sleeves were and often they have to get the most up to date prices on things from their boss because the prices are always changing. I have bought MTG boxes only to have the box topper promo cards "not able to be found", sadly this happened twice to me before I learned my lesson. Squishmallows are overpriced and appear to be scalped off the shelves from local stores, taking away the chance for anyone else to find them in the wild. They also were having collectible signings during the height of covid with no mask enforcement at the time. I have also over heard the manager loudly talking over speaker phone about business while I was just trying to browse. It's a shame because they have so many cool things to browse and buy for yourself or as gifts but I can't look past my negative experiences and as a result I can't recommend this chain to anyone. Ahhh.... to open and smell the pages of an X-Men #178. I come here just to sniff that old newsprint. It's a morphine-hit of nostalgia that few understand. This shop is a welcomed hit of youth and color when my world gets a little too grey. It's also a great place to find an authentic nostalgia gift for someone who appreciates it. My collecting days are thousands of miles in the rear-view, so I have no beef with the store's policies or the long-haired guy who works here. I'm just here to relive old glories on the battlefield. Sometimes I like to gamble on a pack of Topps Football cards from the 80s and then attempt to chew the included tasteless petrified gum stick as it shatters into glass-like shards, embedding sharp pains into my gums. DON'T BUY AT ANY OF THESE STORES!!.. They are crooks, they sell damaged action figures at a high price. These Filipino owned stores tend to sell items that are factory rejects or repackaged used items. I bought something and the item was definite tampered with before hand and it had uneven feet. This for a hefty price. There are good stores in San Diego to go to, than these scalpers. Now or Never is a much better option so is TC's Rockets, Comics & Toys Please don't support Comics-N-Stuff they are immoral and are giving the action figure and comic industry a horrible name, they are scalpers and cheats and are making money from your hard earned money earned with your blood sweat and tears. I've been coming to this location for years now and I think it's one of the best Comic stores in Southern California. They offer a wide variety selection of comics and graphic novels. This location and the Mission Valley location offer excellent customer service and help you find what you are looking far. They contact other locations to check if the other shop has it and are willing to ship it to you if you are a serious buyer. read more

Bought a Lim-Duls Vault that felt funny, and was in NM condition, but I bought it anyways, seemed fishy that a 25 year old card was in perfect condition, bought it for 6$ mid. Terrible staff, terrible service. I walk in and there's a big wear a mask or be vaccinated sign, will ask for verification. First time I saw the sign, I knew I wasn't spending a dime there if I could. So uninviting, having to wear a cloth gag on my face. Sadly they had the only Pokemon trainer box, and a 15 dollar scalper markup. Also guy behind the counter was clueless and the woman behind the counter was a real b*$+&. I asked if there were the newest and she chews me out about rare cards and card packs. Like, lady, I don't care, I just wanted to know if it's sold out. Their store is old, stocked with old junk, Dr. Who stuff that doesn't sell, and they barely get new stuff in. And all there stuff is price scalper priced! Besides this place being overpriced, it also has no customer service. I asked if they had a Comic before I drove down to pick it up for a gift for my husband. The young lady at the counter said she had one but wouldn't hold it. I drove down there in 8 minutes and as I asked for it she had it in her hands walking to the register but there was no one with her. She said I just sold it to someone he's still shopping. "I'm sorry" very condescending. I officially hate this place. Better to buy your stuff on eBay so you get a better deal anyway. After having been to the Comics N Stuff at grossmont center and having a fabulous experience, I figured I'd come to this one being as it's a bit closer to my house. Well that's the first and last time I'll ever come to this location. Let me start by saying their selection is amazing but that's where my nice experience ends. I went in with my brother in law to purchase some cards and immediately when walking in we we're greeted by a gentleman with long hair and with the warmth and personality of a jar of mayonnaise. We asked for help with out selection and he came over and stood there like a statue with dead eyes. Both my brother and I were put off by this to say the least. Trying to engage him in a smile at least my brother made a small joke about he'd love to buy everything on a specific shelf. The gentleman didn't even acknowledge the joke (however lame it was) and continued to stand there like we were wasting his precious time. Then when we made our selection he took us to the counter to ring us up and I noticed a young blonde lady who also had the warmth and personality of a jar of mayonnaise. Never made eye contact and was busying herself on her phone. I have never had such bad and impersonal service in my life. I will be going to the one in grossmont from now on. read more

Holy Nerd Alert Batman!!! Comic N' Stuff is newly renovated and looking good! It looks like they expanded and de-cluttered a bit, but all the things you lack,want, and need are still where you remember. So I came to upgrade storage for the husbands G.I Joe and Transformer comics and my (insert drool) first print Walking Dead comics. I looked all over and online for white comic boxes and they are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper here. I paid $4.99 for the short boxes and long boxes were only $1-2 more. They also had a pack of 50 backers for $3.99. Amazon had the boxes for $12-15+ which is ridiculous for a let's be honest ,cardboard box. I was so happy and saved so much money that I bought some more comics. So I guess I need more boxes....OOOO vicious cycle. read more

If you are a die-hard comic book geek, you will love this store. I came here with my roomie's son in search of a comic book that I was unable to find at my local Barnes & Noble (apparently it is hidden in their inventory or someone "stole" their one and only copy). It is quite possibly the biggest comic bookstore I've ever been to; I was overwhelmed with the selection. There is also an adult section partitioned in the back, for any of you pervs who like that kind of stuff. Additionally, they've got some figurines, coins, Beanie Babies, and cards. Anything that you'd consider a novelty collectible, they probably have it. The girls behind the counter were super cool and laid-back. I'd definitely come here again. Just an FYI, but getting here can be a little confusing if you're not familiar with El Cajon. I only say that because I got a little lost while trying to get here. Thankfully, my pal got a gps on his phone and he helped navigate the way. :) read more

Walking up to this place, you'll get the sense it's pretty big. Walking into this place, you'll find out that it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger than you ever imagined. Statues, actions figures, coins, cards, comic books, toys, stickers this place has it all! Are they going to have EVERYTHING you're looking for? C'mon man, this isn't a freaking comic convention. Pffffshhh. They do have a good variety of things though, way better than I've ever seen assembled under one roof. You have to be sure you come able to spend about an hour or so here, walking up and down each aisle, and looking in each glass case and cabinet if you're going to find what you're looking for. My moment came when I was looking towards the bottom of a glass case. As I laid my eyes upon it, the angelic music played in my head: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh". The comic book my parents didn't want to buy me on my sixteenth birthday was sitting there, just waiting for me to purchase: Wolverine, Issue #1 (original printing). No longer restricted by an "allowance" and now armed with a credit card, I just had to buy it! My eyes darted back and forth looking for an employee. As I failed to see one, panic set in. Should I go walk around and find one? No! What if someone snatched it up in my brief absence? But wait! The longer I waited, the more time I gave more customers to come in, and browse, and possibly find my gem, hidden among other memorabilia. I made the decision to walk, briskly, to the front counter. Clearing my throat, I whispered, "Can I get some help at the cabinet?" The female employee says, "Sure thing." As she hands me the comic book, I'm filled with excitement. I can feel each side of my mouth touch each ear as I walk towards the counter to purchase. This, is what coming to a comic book store is all about. So yeah, they've probably got a few things you've been looking for or always wanted to buy when you were a kid and couldn't afford back then. Walking around will also help you determine the value of some of your items back home (I saw about 8 toys, in original boxes that I have right now at home, and was surprised to see what they were selling for). Nice! They've even got a retro porn section (if you're into that). Maybe you saw that Playboy in your uncle's closet, but only remember the cover because you were never brave enough to swipe it for viewing. Ahem, not that I'd know what that feels like.....anyway, they've got some of those issues here. So stop in, and check this place out. Chances are, you'll have a good time looking for and through stuff. read more

I've been here on a monthly basis the last year. Service is always subpar but I've over looked all that because I've been coming here for years and it's been a tradition for me. The stick is pretty plentiful when my main shop is out of stuff. But the reason I'm here for a review is because the older gentleman who I think is a manager is never wearing a a mask. He has long brown hair. This is every single visit. The rest of the staff and all the customers have them on but this clown is hanging one from his ear on one side. Even when he's talking to customers about two feet away. Not to mention he's the loudest one in the room constantly running his mouth. I'll not be returning to this place. I'm a big fan of Firefly and Serenity, and I ordered a Yahtzee set in the form of Serenity. Something I've wanted for years and haven't been able to get. The crew there at the store wrote some of the best Firefly lines on the receipt. You'll never know what that meant to a lonely person like me. It brought tears when I read it. I tried to sell a coin that had been in my family for years, but I didn't know it was a fake. I asked staff to see what it was worth and they yelled at my for bringing in what I didn't know was a fake coin and embarrassed me and my brother. I never argued with the man or pushed to get my coin sold he yelled at me and my brother after he took a look at the coin. I cried after the embarrassment, never coming back here again. read more

I've been looking for certain comic books to add to my collection and I've been going to many of the comic book stores in the San Diego area. Sunday April 24, 2016 was my first time to Comics-N-Stuff and I wasn't sure what to expect as I entered the store on El Cajon Blvd. When I entered I could see that the comic book shop was clean and organized, it seems they hold magic events there too. The customer service is terrible! The man behind the desk was not very friendly. Just a really unapproachable individual to represent a comic book store. i got the impression he is the sort of individual who thinks he can look at a person up and down and tell weather or not the individual can afford what he's selling and acts accordingly. Read on so you understand how i gained such impression. I asked him about books he had in his display cases and his CGC stuff on the wall. He made no effort to pull out the book from the display case, choosing instead to say...."They are higher grade and more expensive." What is that sort of statement?? I'm a comic book collector......I KNOW THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!....I didn't ask for you to give them away to me! I wanted to simply see the book. I have CGC books on my own wall so i felt awkward when this pompous man wouldn't even hand me a book to SEE. I will never go back. I suggest anyone looking for comics to go to Yesteryear Comics....Mike is personable and he gets it. He doesn't judge, he wants to sell you the Comic. When I lived in the area, this was a regular stop for me. It's the largest comic store I've ever been to, and one of my top three all-time favorite comics stores. I moved away years ago, but while I was in town, I thought I'd stop by and see how the old place was doing. Miles upon miles of comics. A ton of collectible toys. Massive shelves of back issues. The place is colossal, and goes WAY back on archive stuff. The funny thing was, after not being around for nearly three years, the manager recognized me, and treated me the same as she always did: As an established customer and old friend. To be honest, I was actually quite touched, and it made me a little homesick that I wasn't around anymore. I don't go around like I used to, but it's still one of my favorites, and I'll visit every time I'm in town. I'm glad to see that they are still seeming to do well, and I really do wish them the best in the future. Large shop but the condition Of the books was not the best. The two people working seemed more interested in having personal conversations than helping me spend money. I asked about some of the books I was looking for, and was advised that they had them, but the owner wasn't in the shop and they are not allowed to touch them? This place is amazing!! One of the biggest comic store I have been into. I felt like a little kid in heaven. They mostly have everything from pop, comic, cards, and more. My boyfriend and I went in and wanted to buy something but couldn't make any decision coz it was to many to pick from. But I suggest if u love comics and such I would recommending seing this place.
