The Hojicha Pudding in the Iron Buddha Oolong Milk Tea is a solid standard. But the Ube Taro Mochi Green Milk Tea?! HELLOOOO. Hella yum! I got both at 30% sweet and 50% ice, and I'm so glad I did because it balanced the pudding and that rich ube taro mochi paste perfectly. I fear full sweetness might be a little much, but I'm an old Asian who believes desserts should be "not too sweet." This is usually my go-to for boba when I seek it out on a quarterly basis, but recently I noticed that both locations (Alhambra/ Temple City) keep their temperatures quite high on a hot day so even when it's 6pm (and 90s outside), you still won't feel that comfortable there. FYI- There are some charging ports at Formosa but not all tables have an outlet. Went in for the BOGO deal and got the Assam black tea. Ordered 4 drinks, 3 half sugar and 1 no sugar. Wait wasn't too long, but my no sugar drink ended up being full sugar. The drink was okay for the most part. The girl front tattoo , tattoo with glasses told her I could just keep it so it wouldn't go to waste, but I needed another one with no sugar. They are located at the ground floor of Begonia Place apartment complex on Rosemead Blvd in Temple City. Lucky to have snatched free street parking, but not sure if they have parking in the back of the building. Limited outside patio seating. Adequate interior seating in a cool, modern, and quiet space. Love the subtle yellow lighting with calm and relaxing ambiance. Tables along the windows have USB chargers. Cute little lamp on the table, too. I didn't see any self-order kiosk for use. I had to order at the counter. Staff and service was okay. Since it was my first time here, I wasn't sure what I wanted to try. They have their top 12 popular drinks posted. I saw the Taro Sago Coconut Latte on a flyer. It looked so good. I love taro so I got it and forgoed the popular ones. Price was a bit pricey though. My drink was $8+. I asked for 100% sweetness, but I found the taro drink to not be sweet if at all. Taro tasted pasty unfortunately. Sago was soft and chewy. It's probably not a drink I would order again. So much variety of teas here! I love how they have a picture and description of each type of Tea so you know what youre getting. There are kids friendly drinks as well so the whole family can get something (Yakult drinks, slushes etc.). The boba is ok, the drinks are definitely better than the boba but still ok that I would get it if I wanted a drink from here. Make the boba better and it would be a perfect combination! My husband and I visited this Formosa Aroma location for the first time this past Sunday, 2/22 around 2:00 PM. This is a new location that's opened up in Temple City. We got lucky because there wasn't too long of a line when we first came, but the line just kept growing. It was out the door by the time we got our orders and left! We ended up getting 4 orders of Iron Buddha Oolong Boba Milk Tea - $7.50 (BOGO offer during 2/16-2/22) - The drink was pretty good, we got them with light ice and 75% sugar. The sugar was definitely on the light side so I wish we had actually ordered one full sugar to compare. The boba was warm, chewy, and had the qq texture. I wish the iron buddha Oolong flavor was stronger as the drink was a little on the light side. I would prefer a deeper roasty flavor. Customer Service: The staff member who helped us was friendly. From start to finish, it took us around 20 minutes to get our order and drinks ready. If you're in a time crunch, just be aware. My first time at Formosa Aroma in Rosemead was during a raining weekend, and it was so memorable because the fragrant smell of the shop was so comforting! I've read that the boba here is tasty so I decided to get it as a topping even though I typically do not get boba. The server was really nice and patient with me, since there are so many different drinks and teas to choose from. I eventually got the oriental beauty milk tea with warm boba and it was good. I enjoyed the white peach tea more though since I don't usually get milk teas. I find that their tea is really fragrant and aromatic, which is hard to find with all the different boba shops out there. I also think the Rosemead location makes better teas than the Alhambra location, but that could just be me. Formosa Aroma (Temple City) has poor visibility because its exterior is very difficult to see from the road. This small business is connected to the Begonia Place Apartments. It's also across the street from the Super A Foods Market. Staff at Formosa Aroma (Temple City) is professional. Staff (receipt says Eric) is helpful and welcoming. There's no self-service kiosk, so staff helps guide the customer. Staff asks for the drink's sugar level, ice level, dairy choice, and toppings. My drink took about two minutes. Fairly quick! As mentioned, I ordered the Formosa Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($6.75 - 30% Sweetness - 50% Iced). It tasted like premium brown sugar mixed in cold milk. The flavor reminded me of cereal milk. The boba arrived very hot and fresh; however, it lacked the familiar bounce and bite. These boba are comparable to chewing a fluffy, mini marshmallow. It's a pleasant, unmemorable drink. Concerning ambiance, Formosa Aroma (Temple City) is an elegant work/study spot! The decor is sleek and shiny. I especially loved how the electrical sockets had usb charging ports embedded inside. There's about five easily accessible electrical outlets. The location has internet with password; the information stands written on a plaque by the counter. There's a self-serve water station. There's a gender neutral restroom. And the music is soft. Formosa Aroma (Temple City) is comfortable, very clean, and well-maintained. There's about seven shiny indoor tables. Tables even had touch-activated lamps. In addition, there's two outside tables. When I arrived, the entire place sparkled. Overall, Formosa Aroma (Temple City) is a hidden, charming location. Although its drinks were adequate, the staff and ambiance were sublime. There's quality function and elegance hidden in plain sight. You had me at Oolong tea! This made-to-order hand crafted newly opened formosan tea shop in Temple City looked promising. My friend and I just ate nearby on Broadway Avenue and walked over. The tea shop was packed and looked very popular. From the look of it and their full tea selection, I knew I was in for a great tea from the start! We waited about 10 minutes in line and after ordering, about another 10 minutes to get our tea. Service was quick, friendly, and they answered some simple questions we had about the order. I got the Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea w/ Aloe Vera & Jasmine Green Tea to go. The Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea I only seen a few tea places have in the U.S. here and it is from Fujian where my family is from so I had to get it to try, they did it justice and the tea was spot on. The Jasmine Green Tea was a little chalky and had a little dry mouth feel so maybe it was steeped too long. I was tempted by all of their speciality tea drinks like ube taro mochi milk tea, toasted marshmallow cocoa latte, black sesame or macha typhoon drinks (sounds so good as I am typing this currently) but I wanted a refreshing pick-me-up after the lunch I had. The green teas were the way to go but I know I'll have to come back on a treat-myself kind of day to try their speciality drinks. I was happy to see I can customize non-dairy milk and also by ice and sweetness level, too! The only thing I wish they explained in their menu or signage is what you can expect in the taste and fragrance of the Oolong teas. It is really good and somewhere between oolong, dark, and green tea; lightly oxidized tea with floral notes. Hence, the deep green color appearance. The tea is steeped so well that the flavors are strong and carry through (can't remember what he ordered, but it was the BOGO Milk Tea of the Week). The Formosa Ocean was sweet and refreshing! They have the option to make the boba pearls soft or chewy, which is a nice option because most places only have one standard. The design of the store is so beautiful, and the variety of tea is awesome. There is truly so many options to choose from and for some it may be motivation to try them all. However, I thought that for a tea forward store, their regular sugar level is too high (yes, i know it can be adjusted, and i asked for an adjusted one afterwards) which overpowers the tea. The workers were nice and helped me remake a drink to lower the sugar level. In the current state, I would say the tea is really weak which makes the drinker question its price point, when I know that the sourcing of the tea must be impressive, seeing how much work was put into the design of the store. You can say its mild but other viral tea shops (you know) truly know ball when they say their tea mild but throughly enjoyable.
