Boba Ave Express is such a cool spot, mainly because they have a drive through. You pull up, order at the window, and pick it up at the next. Super easy and convenient, especially if you're on the go. I got the Mango Yogurt Blended, and it was really refreshing. Not overly sweet, nice balance between the tartness of the yogurt and the sweetness of the mango. Perfect on a warm day. I didn't get to try any of the food this time, but based on how smooth everything went with my drink and the solid service, I'd definitely come back for more. read more

My go to drink is the strawberry yogurt.... It's refreshing and perfectly balanced not overly sweet, but a little tangy from the yogurt mixed with fresh strawberry flavor. The yogurt reminds me of Yalkult. Also, this spot is drive-thru only and usually there's always a long line! read more

Finally gave this drive thru boba a try and my impression so far is meh. The first time I got the strawberry yogurt with boba and it was so good that I went back the next day and it was a complete 180. Seeing that it's the same drink I ordered within 48 hours, I found a big discrepancy in the quality of the drink. The 2nd visit did not have the same texture or temperature as the first time and the boba was also much tougher. Unfortunately I'll give this place a break until there's a desire to come back. read more

We tried the cheese grape drink and the peach & passion fruit green tea at Boba Ave. Both drinks were refreshing and tasted pretty good, especially the peach & passion fruit green tea. The downside is they don't have a huge variety of drinks to choose. The drive-thru line was also very long, so be prepared to wait during busy hours. Also they only have fresh milk boba which is basically milk sweetened with boba which is their caffeine free option. I still visit Boba Ave when I need a drive thru. My dog appreciates the rides and we don't have to get out of car. But I'm sure it's getting harder to compete with all the drink places opening up down the street. Thank you boba Ave for being consistent with your drink quality and offering food snacks as well. They also updated their drinks to have a little cover so you can shake it and not fear anything leaking through the plastic lids. Thanks for wonderful service as well. read more

Drive through only it seems but that's ok. It's cute but easy to miss. I think the drinks are too artistically flavored and they add way too much ice. The convenience of a drive thru is the reason why I always come back. They don't have non dairy options so I tend to stick with the fruit teas. I recommend ordering 75% or 50% sugar as they do get pretty sweet. They use to have two windows in their tunnel but now it's one ordering window and a pick up window on the other side. 2 words: DRIVE THRU. There have been other BOBA AVE locations that have come and gone and one that is closer to me but this is definitely worth it for the late night stop or a grand go. They do have seating inside too, but it is a much narrower establishment. Drinks are standard but come in HUGE cups even if you get regular. And getting a large means that I have some that I can ration off for the next day. Just be careful with their straight teas and adjusting the ice and sugar levels. I got a zero percent sugar and it was disgustingly bitter and had to be readjusted at home. Other than that, their Hokkaido milk tea is a creamy milky solid choice. They give plenty of snack foods too inside their to go cups as well and not many boba places have food which is a plus. Also just keep in mind if you're driving down the road, the drive thru sometimes leaks out and blocks traffic! read more

Unevenly spiced -- here is one of many pieces of chicken -- half extra, EXTRA, extra spicy, half mild -- we ordered mild A lot of these pieces were way overly spiced & caked with powder to the point of 70% being inedible for either my partner (usually able to handle any spicy stuff) or I to finish. My partner tried to finish but had to throw out majority unfortunately :( -- was not even enjoyable at all, just pain -- helped me get my water intake in early for the day though :,) We love the sizes of the pieces & flavor here, been coming here for 2-3 years. But for some reason, the spices have been so patchy & inconsistent -- last month they added more pepper which threw the flavor off, this month it seems the spices are applied lazily and uneven -- asking for mild gets you extra, extra spicy. Sad we havent been able to enjoy this weekend's or last weekend's batch but we'll be taking a break for now. read more

Was looking for a late night snack and drink and found Boba Ave Express on Yelp. Came by around 1030 pm for some popcorn chicken but was advised that their kitchen was closed. The drive thru is super convenient and I love that it was an option for a boba place. We ordered a peach green tea drink and a milk tea drink. They were both so delicious! Bummer that the kitchen was closed and my late night craving wasn't satisfied but glad the drinks hit the spot! read more

Terrible treatment here, they served a group in front of us without cars so we decided to do the same then they turned us away cuz we didn't have a car. Once I called them out on it they said yea you need a car. Once I said what's the difference between the group infront and us ? The said they won't serve us without a car. Will not be back. I've been coming here since they opened at the Arcadia location and I always bring people here. They have the best takoyaki and I love the drinks. The wait times have gotten better over the years and even though the recipes have changed, I still enjoy the drinks. I do miss the pudding in my tea though but the lychee jelly keeps me satisfied. The biggest issue I have with this place is how awful the inconsistency is with when their kitchen hours. I've been here multiple times where the place doesn't close for another 1.5-2 hours and the kitchen is already closed. I come here for the drive thru convenience and I'm somewhat of a loyalist. I love the food. But tonight was the last straw for me so I decided to write a review finally. I'm 5 months pregnant and I'm always craving their takoyaki. I ordered a takoyaki and my usual tea order and the window cashier (who was very friendly and professional) told me that if I had ordered at 10:35 he would've made my order. I ordered at 10:38, there was a large line out into the street, and he decided to split hairs and deny me part of my order. They don't close til 12 so I feel like an hour and a half is adequate time to close down a kitchen. I won't be coming back. Those 3 minutes were really worth it I guess. This is the last time I'm turned away with adequate closing times. I usually end up at meet tea in Rosemead for food every time this happens. They don't close til 2am and have a really great dining area and are fast when ordered through yelp. They have always made my food. Meet Tea also has a mix and match special. They have great fried tofu and they have a larger food selection there and calamari rings as well as takoyaki. Goodbye boba express, hello meet tea! read more

Years ago I came to try this when they were relatively new and when they had a long line out the door. But I discovered their drink was terrible and couldn't figure out the popularity. Thinking back now, maybe all those people were just as curious as I was and was trying them for the first time. Years later. Today I decided to give them a second chance as it was hot and I wasn't properly dressed and they were perfect for my needs. When I pulled up, there were 2 cars in front of me. The wait was long for some reason. I thought to myself, they must have/better have placed a large order! The line started stacking up, and there were 3 or 4 cars behind me. The drive through feature is nice! And so are the prices and portion sizes. Unfortunately, the drinks were not good. I got the Hokkaido Milk Tea and it was so sweet! I have a huge sweet tooth, but this was way too much. It tasted like milk after cereal had been sitting in it, and i barely got any tea flavor. The staff were great, super friendly, and they gave one of the clearest drive through speaker boxes I have ever heard. The mural inside is also fun.
