Summerfield Tea Bar is a popular local tea shop that opens late in the evening (1 am) and offer a drive-thru. They have a good selection of drinks (hot/cold) and snacks such as popcorn chicken, salads, fries etc. I have known this tea shop for quite sometime but reluctant because of the mediocre reviews. I went for a late night drive-thru and had a hot green tea x boba and popcorn chicken x ranch sauce. Their breaded popcorn chicken is soft, tasty and by far the best I had ever tasted in the SGValley. Similarly, hot tea was okay. Drive-thru was convenient. Female staff was nice and affable. Prices seem fairly higher than most tea shops; they charge $1 for toppings and/or dipping sauces (ketchup, ranch and sweet sour chilli). Service was spot on. Overall, I enjoyed my tea and snack and their service. I recommend them. read more

I've been here a few times and the drinks are good! I really like the honey boba. I'm just bummed they don't have a green milk tea. I usually end up ordering plain green tea with vanilla foam to make it creamy, and after adding boba it's around $8, which is kind of pricey. I also like that they have a drive-thru because it's super convenient. The only downside is my order is almost never right. It seems like my drink is always missing something. The inside is really spacious though, with lots of tables if you want to hang out. Overall, I'd still come back for the drinks, but I wish they were more consistent with getting orders right. read more

Came by here for a Friday lunch/snack, was craving popcorn chicken! This was the nearest one to me and haven't checked it out before, so sureee. Very cool that they have a drive-thru here! The space is very pretty and nice lighting. Definitely very clean and cozy. Plenty of parking. Ordering was quite easy since it was at the kiosk. The popcorn chicken was about $10, which is kinda up there for the price... also for the portion size, they use this paper to funnel it in a cup, which reduces the portions of having it actually it the cup they serve. The chicken pieces are also on the smaller end, not so chunky... I feel like the crunch texture was there, but they're missing that taiwanese spice and basil. The flavor was not quite there. This is my 4th or 5th time here since their opening. I have tried their original boba milk tea, ceylon milk tea with mochi, Jasmine milk tea, and their new osmanthus milk tea. To be honest, all of their teas taste basic as in they taste on the lower end when it comes to tea quality. The upside is that the drinks I ordered all have toppings included in their price. I think I have always paid under $7 for a drink at this place. When I got the email about their new item Osmanthus milk tea coming out 7/1, I was pretty excited. I finally tried it out today and was pretty disappointed. The tea was overly floral and tasted artificial. I've had osmanthus milk tea from other places, and have grown a liking to it, but sadly this version was the worst one I've had. Their drinks also don't allow you to customize the sweetness more than regular, less, or none. I am glad they can do no ice though. I usually get no ice to taste the tea as is without it being diluted. The upside to this place is the interior. There is a lot of seating. This is probably the most seating I have seen at a boba shop. They definitely encourage hanging out or doing tasks indoors in their seating area. It is nicely air conditioned and has a lot of natural lighting. I'd recommend if you can find a seat to enjoy the interior. Service inside is mostly self order at kiosk. They are pretty fast with their drink preparation. I think I waited less than 5 min for my drink. Drive thru is also pretty efficient. They accept card only. All in all, if you want a place with ample seating to hang out or avoid the heat for a few hours, this isn't a bad place. Their tea isn't the best, but also not terrible. I still am a frequent customer here, and it's a consistent spot to get a nice drink while working remote! Everything is still true in my previous review, however I have noticed that the music here is often times super loud, making it hard to work without noise cancelling headphones. I sometimes have a hard time hearing my friend who is often sitting across or right next to me. Other than that, their drinks have been great and I'm so happy about the new Munchie Combo addition to the menu! The combos are super appealing because you can get a drink for essentially another couple dollars, which is a steal if you ask me since most of the time I'm getting a snack. Their app has also been really helpful so I can snag a seat during rush hours without having to wait in line for the kiosk. Looking back at the name, Summerfield Tea Bar, that probably should have been my first clue. If you're looking for coffee, this isn't that kind of spot. This place is all about tea, with a variety of flavors, customizable sweetness levels, boba, and other add-ins. When you walk in, you're not really greeted by staff. Instead, everything is done through digital ordering screens. There are two kiosks straight down after you walk in, and the process is pretty straightforward. No cash, no waiting in line, just place your order and customize your drink however you'd like. The inside is very clean, modern, and inviting. It feels like the kind of place where college students could hang out, study, or catch up with friends for a while. There's plenty of parking, which is a huge plus, and they also kept the drive-thru, making it a convenient option when you're on the go. I ordered my drink at the kiosk and settled on the Midnight Milk Tea, half sweet with grass jelly and crystal boba. It may have been that fates that day were against me, as the WiFi at this cafe was out. There happened to be a lot of younger people there as well that evening, so it was difficult to concentrate on the work at hand due to the noise level. Lastly, it was a bit of a struggle to get to the outlets underneath the booth seating. It's kind of a shame, because I liked the drink I got. The grass jelly went really well with the earthy and creamy milk tea and had a flavor profile like those jelly desserts at Meet Fresh. And for two toppings it was price appropriate. Was craving popcorn chicken so I stopped by on the way home for some. I went through the drive-through since it was a hot day, and it was convenient ordering. However, after ordering the girl gave me the receipt at the window and I noticed they selected the Sweet Chili sauce even though they didn't ask when I was ordering in the beginning. So when the food was ready, I asked them if they could give the ranch sauce. But they said extra sauce would be extra charge. I guess I should have specified that I didn't ask for the Sweet Chili sauce but it was annoying that they couldn't just give me the ranch. Also why did they default to the sweet chili sauce when they didn't even ask when I was ordering. Next time I will order through the app to avoid this kind of mistake. The worst of it all was the popcorn chicken was not as good as during the grand opening. They fried it a bit too long so some of it was hard. Also they seasoned it wayyy too salty! Without the ranch sauce, it was so hard to finish the chicken. The sweet chili sauce just didn't hit the same way as the ranch. I was super thirsty after finishing it and also just disappointed. I paid with card at the window and waited about 5-10 min for the food. However I noticed they gave me sweet chili sauce even though I didn't ask for it. When I asked for ranch instead, they said it would be extra cost. I was appalled because they chose the sauce without asking me first and then wouldn't give me a different sauce. I guess their ranch is really precious... Besides that, when I tried the chicken, I was further disappointed. It was way too salty. I had to down a bottle of water while eating it. I checked this place out due to an event that was being hosted here. Despite the massive spike in traffic, the people manning the store were handling everything with such professionalism and speed, it was fantastic. I had a Brown Sugar Milk Tea and it was pretty solid. They also offer other types of teas and drinks and even small bites to pick and go. They have a very handy and useful screen that displays the orders being prepared and in which order they are. I thought that was a clever touch that many other stores should employ. This place was popping after midnight. After playing badminton with friends for some hours we decided to come here instead going out for alcohol . This place was pretty busy on a Friday night around midnight. I didn't try tea because I didn't want any caffeine being so late at night but my friends said the tea was good. I started with a matcha latte with oat milk and basil seeds, I didn't even remember I ordered the banana flavor until the looked at my receipt. I think there might have been an error cause there was no banana flavor in my drink as I'm finishing it up now or the banana cream top is just very faint. The matcha is pretty good though. For the combo, I got the Jasmine Latte that comes with Honey Boba and crystal boba with crispy tofu (spicy). I was so excited to try this place out because it's a convenient drive-thru on my commute, decently priced, and has such a variety of flavors! However, I was a little disappointed when I got there and I realized the service is a little slow in the drive-thru and the drinks (at least the fruit drinks) are pretty artificial. I tried the Aloha, and it tasted completely of syrup, though I'm not sure what flavor because all of the flavors combined kind of muddled together. I also had a hard time getting the mango stars through the straw, so while I appreciated the concept of the stars, I think I'd rather stick with a good old lychee jelly. An average boba shop in the SGV. I have visited with my partner multiple times. I like that there is a drive-thru, but the line does look long sometimes. It might be faster to just order the drinks in the store. The wait time has always been pretty quick. The milk teas and fruit teas here are decent. What isn't good is the honey boba, which is always too hard (undercooked) and unenjoyable to chew. For a topping, I would stick with grass jelly or mango stars. My favorite drinks are the Aloha Tea and Remember Me, whereas the worst drink I've tried was the Uji Matcha Freeze, which was not blended well, so it just felt like eating a bunch of chunks of ice. In addition, the creme brulee spread was very faint. What I like most about this place is that it is quite spacious with an adequate amount of seating. I've been to Summerfield about three times now, and honestly, it felt like a classic case of "the first time was the best time." The very first visit a few months ago was fantastic. I can't even remember the exact drink I ordered, but I do remember it being the perfect level of sweetness. I chose 75%, and it was spot on. My husband ordered the oolong milk tea, and that was delicious too. We left thinking we had found a new go-to boba spot. Then came visit number two...and three...and unfortunately, that's where things started going downhill. The second time, my cup had a crack in it and was leaking from the bottom. To their credit, they were nice enough to replace it quickly. But the drink itself, which was the exact same one I ordered the first time, tasted completely different. My 75% sweetness tasted more like 10%. It was barely sweet at all. By the third visit, it was as if someone forgot sugar existed entirely. Same drink, same sweetness level, three completely different results -- and somehow each one got worse. I'm not sure if it's different staff making drinks without following the same recipe, but the inconsistency is honestly ridiculous. When you're paying for boba, you want it to taste like the drink you ordered, not a surprise experiment every time. The place itself is great: plenty of parking, lots of indoor seating, modern vibe, very inviting atmosphere. But unfortunately, the drinks don't live up to the space. Summerfield gets a 3.8 out 5. We were here on a Thursday afternoon from around 2 to 6. It's quite a nice spot to do work with someone and enjoy a snack or drink. There are plenty of tables but the place does get quite rowdy and loud around 3 pm after Rosemead HS students get out. The lighting in the space is bright and the decor matches the natural vibes of the store well. The restrooms are also quite nice but a little dark. Wifi is also free with every order and parking is a non-issue with the huge lot. Ordering can sometimes be an issue just because the store is popular and the digital kiosk can have a line. I personally like ordering at the main kiosk with a cashier but there's usually not someone there as they're either busy with the drive thru or in the back preparing drinks. Personal issue and just something to note, but tables near the windows do have some glare so it can be a little difficult to do work on a laptop. Otherwise the tables and chairs were nice to sit on. There are sometimes issues with finding spaces to sit when the store is full but it is based on a first come first serve basis. Sometimes my family comes here to just chill and chat. Mango snow is a favorite of mine and I love the star shape jelly shapes at the bottom. This one is so delicious to me and I love how its like a frozen mango smoothie. Chewing the atar shaped jelly is also so fun and they're mango flavored as well which makes it tasty. The Sunset Tea was good but my sister did not like the aloe Vera. She would've much preferred having a different topping like lychee jelly or even rainbow jelly. We got the tea + popcorn chicken combo and the chicken itself was quite nice. I like the flavor of their chicken and it is quite crispy. The sweet chilli and the spicy powder also pairs nicely with the chicken. I wish they gave a little more chicken though as the price is around $8-9. I wanted to also get fries but our total was already around ~$21 so the items do add up. I ordered a Moonlight Milk Tea, which is described as Earl Grey black tea with non-dairy creamer. Unfortunately, the drink I received was completely different--it appeared to be a fruit tea with no milk or creamer included. I was very excited to try out this new spot in SGV as they're opening here in Rosemead. I've tried their other locations in Rowland Heights & Garden Grove so I was pretty hype to finally have one closer to me. This is one of the rare boba shops that have a drive through lane so that's already pretty unique for one. This location is now renovated, very modern, tropical, tea bar cafe type vibes when you enter. Pretty clean overall, plenty of tables and sofa seating for customers. Many seem to choose this spot for late night snack as well along with just hanging out with friends as they close at 1:00 AM everyday. (Free parking in a moderate size lot) Upon arriving, we found that the drive through was closed....so that was a bit of a bummer as my partner and I wasn't looking forward to entering the cafe since we were on the go. For such a big shop, they only have one ordering kiosk, kind of weird but there's also cashier ordering which helps lessen the pack a bit. I would say it's quite the hot mess as staff here are kind of tricky. Drinks take long time to come out even when it's not busy. This specific visit, drive through was closed, other visits, kiosk wasn't working properly and was taking a lot of time due to how packed it was, had to resort to online ordering even though I was in stores as cashier wasn't present at the front. Not really a big problem but notifications were received when order was ready but when showed to the cashier, they said it wasn't, potentially user error but it was a bit frustrating at that point. However, drinks itself are pretty good, my partner and I tried their new holiday drinks, Matcha Colada, Wintermelon Milk Tea, and the Lunaria Milk Tea. All 3 drinks were very tasty, not too sweet with the right sugar adjustments. (All 50% Sugar). Cups are well made, no leaks nor any significant coldness. In the wintermelon MT however, the boba were a bit hard, although chewable but it was a bit much to savor. The matcha colada combo is very tasty, didn't think the coconut combo with matcha would work but it did. Super refreshing even on a colder night. 8/10 for all three drinks. read more

I've tried Summerfield before, but this is my first time at their Rosemead location which is significantly closer to me. I came here because they had a BOGO deal for their Matcha Colada drink on their app. I ordered through their app and got the two Matcha Coladas (both 100% sweetness, whole milk, no ice) along with a popcorn chicken and fries. Pro-tip: definitely recommend downloading their app as I got the fries for free as a sign-up bonus! Upon arriving, I thought the interior was quite stunning. It's very aesthetically pleasing, clean, and spacious! Lots of tables and chairs, so I could see this place get crowded during peak hours. I came here to do some school work and was able to find a spot with an outlet, so that was great. After finding a place to sit, I went up to the counter to pick up my food, but there was no employee in sight. They have a TV screen that displays if orders are complete or in progress, and despite my order being done, I had to wait a few minutes before an employee finally came out and gave me my order. While my popcorn chicken was still hot and fresh, my fries were just slightly warm which was odd to me lol, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. I thought the matcha colada was good, but nothing extraordinary. While I thought the sweetness was perfect, I wish the matcha flavor was stronger! It also has a coconut cold foam, but I only tasted a hint of coconut. Honestly, I would not pay $7 for it if they didn't have the BOGO deal, there's definitely better drinks out there for around the same price. Popcorn chicken was good, tasted like most popcorn chicken I've tried! For $8 though, I wish the portion was larger. As for the fries, VERY GOOD. They taste just like Potato Corner's BBQ fries which is high praise from me haha. Since I got them for free, I'm happy, but I also don't think I would pay full price for them. Would I come here again? Maybe, but only if they had a BOGO deal because $7-8 for one drink is too expensive for me. Food is fine, but I know other places that sell them for cheaper with larger portions. My overall gripe is that Summerfield's prices are not that affordable for the quality and quantity. read more

this is a newest boba shop in town , so I decided to check it out at noon one day when I went out running errands. They have online order, I didn't realize it was happy hour until I got to pick up at the counter, it wasn't on the counter so I had to ask, he brought two taro milk tea w boba to me, I first thought I accidentally ordered 2 until later I realized it's happy hour. However, taro favor is very much artificial and 50% sweetness is way too sweet but their boba is really good! 2nd time I got seaside tea which is fruity but 50% sweetness is still too sweet for me. Until I found my fav drink , it's matcha gon' banana...and there's 0% sweetness option! One time they ran out of boba and I was told it'd be a 10-minute wait. Instead, I switched to lychee jelly and it actually paired really well with the matcha. Parking is generally easy since they have a huge lot, but during heat waves it can still fill up. The drive-thru is a bit hit-or-miss--sometimes packed, sometimes completely empty. Either way, their consistent drinks and friendly service make the stop worth it. read more
