Vodka pie with pepperoni to go
    Moriah H.

This pizza lives up to the hype! We tried it a few weeks ago and have been back multiple times since. The perfect combinations and the crust is one of the best around Pittsburgh.

    Cheesesteak
    Art B.

Long story short - best cheesesteak in the city and best I've had in a long while and maybe ever. Ordered this take out and it was still amazing. Seeded roll was soft but held up and wasn't soggy (even during the 15 minute travel time to mum's house). Fully stuffed with high quality beef, perfectly caramelized onions and melty Cooper sharp cheese. And of course chopped and mixed together the right way. Might be slightly salty for some but was perfect for my taste. Also had a red pie. Was solid but didn't hold up as well as the cheesesteak during the travel. This style of pizza is always way better eaten right away so next time I'll have it in house before giving a proper review. Flavor profile was quality though so I'm guessing it's great right out of the oven. Common Oven is absolutely worth a quick roadtrip to New Ken. And if Pittsburgh Brewing has an event then this is the perfect base before drinking some beers.

Finally made it to Common Oven and WOW--this place is absolutely out of control incredible. We tried a lot: both sourdough pies (round and grandma), the pizzeria salad, meatballs, and their cheesesteak--and I'm not exaggerating when our crew said it was hands-down the best cheesesteak in Western PA, cooked perfectly on their homemade seeded rolls. Everything was truly 10/10. The pizzeria salad was so fresh--crisp romaine, perfectly balanced homemade red wine vinaigrette, no notes. And major shoutout for offering vegan cheese at no extra charge (a breath of fresh air--thank you for thinking of us vegans ). The staff was incredibly friendly, the vibes were immaculate, and the setup is great--Common Oven is tucked in the back of Strange Roots Brewery with tons of indoor & outdoor seating. Already can't wait to go back.

    Pork sandwich

Highly recommend! A fun place with excellent food! The roasted pork sandwich is outstanding, and the homemade bread/bun...wow! Our group also had the meatballs, salad, cheesesteak and prosciutto pizza. We would order all again! Large selection of libations. Very pleasant service. I can see why they're one of the best in Pittsburgh!

Last night I had the privilege of being taken for pizza @commonovenpizza and participating in last minute entry trivia! The pizza was fantastic. Likely one of the best pizza joints in the 'burgh AND it's housed with @strangerootsnewkensington Everyone was super friendly from bringing out the pizza (I was making sure we paid attention to the messages!) to serving samples and conversing while we sat at the bar. The best part-- there were dogs! I definitely recommend it and I will return (it's a bit of a hike from the city but oooo so worth it)!!

    Small red pie

What a hidden GEM! The food and service here are incredible and well worth the painfully long drive out to the middle of nowhere :) Food: I tried a small red pie (perfect 6-slice serving for 1 person) and added pepperoni, mushrooms, banana peppers, and pickled shallots. Tip: do not order chili flakes as a topping as you are limited to 4 toppings and they offer free shakers of chili flakes on site. The pizza was perfectly cooked and the sauce was seasoned to perfection. My friend and I also split a cheesesteak sandwich which was INSANELY good (albeit the bun was a little burnt) and the meatball sandwich which was delicious and comes with a much appreciated side of marinara for dipping. I'm really looking forward to coming back and trying some of their specialty pies and the italian sandwich as others around me got it and it looked spectacular. Service: The woman working the counter was friendly extremely efficient. She brings your order out to you quickly and clears away pizza pans and sandwich baskets with a smile. She also is incredibly passionate about describing all of the menu items (especially the bakery pop up, see tip #3 below) and can help bring the products to life so you can make a better decision on what to get. Pro Tip #1: Go online before heading over there to see what is currently available/out of stock so you aren't disappointed. They keep it pretty up to date. Pro Tip #2: Use the online ordering feature and order your food while en route to reduce the amount of wait time while your food is cooking. HOWEVER, if you forget, no biggie as you have extra time to sip on some Strange Roots beverages. Pro Tip #3: Go early on a Sunday to experience their bakery pop-up. Seriously some of the BEST bagels I've had in Pittsburgh. They also have focaccia, pepperoni rolls, cinnamon rolls, and cookies.

    Red Pie with Pepperoni

The pizza was delicious!!! Will definitely be back again. Worth the drive ftom Pittsburgh.

Great pizza! Tried the honey pie with half ricotta. Delicious pizza, great atmosphere, service was on point! Ordered from my phone and they brought it out to the table.

Awesome spot for pizza and other great Italian options. Super fresh food, very well made, and everything is pretty much made in house. I got to try their vodka pizza. This was my first time having vodka sauce on pizza, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good it tasted. Definitely a little sweeter than regular pizza sauce, and a little creamier, but very good. Their pizza is thin crust and the tomatoes add a nice hint of acidity. Crust is great, cheese is very nice, and so is the sauce. What's not to like? Highly recommend this place as one of the nicer pizza spots in the area.

A small calzone, yes, small! With sausage, mushroom and extra ricotta!

It was my first time going there with my twins, and the service was great. The people were nice and informative... the food was excellent! Portions were huge! The atmosphere was relaxing as we ate outside.

RUN here. Two people recommended me this spot back when I posted the cheesesteak from Davide and the second I saw the video of Gavin making it, I knew it was going to live up to the hype. It SURPASSED it The cheesesteak is made in the wood fire oven with actual ribeye steak. For whatever reason is so fucking hard to come buy here. He keeps it traditional. Cooper sharp, caramelized onions and cheez whiz. The bread it's on is made fresh in house as well and you can tell. He finishes it off in the oven to give it a little crisp to it. I like my cheesesteaks a tad softer so I let my one half sit for about 10min. Was very hard to do All the pizza crust is sour dough and fucking outstanding. Looks like it would be brittle but nowhere close. The mozzarella is made in house as well so get a pie with that The White honestly tasted kind of like a garlic bread drizzled with olive oil but on steroids with that beautiful mozz and garlic olive oil The Hot Honey had a plum sauce base, mozz and topped with banana pepper with pep cups. The type of pepperoni that should be required for all slices. The hot honey paired so well with the sweet sauce That grandma pie... All I can say is just go and get that. One of the best slices I've had and by far the best Pittsburgh The spot is in the back of the Strange Roots in New Ken. Dimly lit, Gastropub style with a minimum seating options. Our waitress was super polite (forget her name) and the owner Gavin was awesome. Came out to make sure we were enjoying the meal and helped us with whatever. Do yourself the favor and fucking go

We stumbled upon Strange Roots Experimental Ales in New Kensington by complete surprise, not even knowing it was there. The moment we walked in, we were hit by the most incredible aroma--it immediately made us think, What is this, and how do we get some?! In the back of the brewery is Common Oven Pizza, which was an unexpected delight. Even though pizza is my favorite meal and I could eat it every day, I wasn't in the mood for it at the moment, so we decided to try their meatballs instead. Ordering was super convenient--you can do it in person or straight from your phone. Our server brought out the meatballs, along with plates and fresh bread for the sauce. Let me tell you, these meatballs were next-level amazing. The sauce was so good we couldn't resist soaking up every drop with the bread. It was pure bliss. The setup is perfect--Common Oven Pizza is nestled right at the back of the brewery, making it an easy and seamless experience. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Whether you're there for the beer or the food, this place is an absolute gem!

We ordered our appetizers, and the employee told us that ribs would not be available to order for another half hour, so we waited for them. Our loaded nachos and loaded fries were topped with similar ingredients of shredded meat, jalapeno peppers, gooey cheese, and a sauce. The ingredients were fresh, and we enjoyed the flavors.
