I had money in my accounts and for some reason there was a $2. Yes $2. Payment I guess sometime in June but instead of contacting me by email, text, or calling they ignored the oversight and allowed it to decline which it affected my credit score! I went and spoke to someone in accounting and they say they're sorry but they can't do anything! This bank doesn't care for there members! A $2. Mistake has now affected my credit score because of there negligence! read more

Looking at some of the bad reviews and not sure which branch the people are going to, but the branch I go to nearest my house on Silver Creek Rd and the staff are amazing. I have been a member since 1998. The team makes me feel like I am part of the family. They call me by name when I walk in...like I am on the old TV show Cheers. Just wish I could remember all their names...something I need to work on. I do know Emily when I go in though. Highly recommend Luis as a representative. Thorough in his explanations throughout the process. Professional, kind, and helpful. Random comment is that his understanding and wit while onboarding is super helpful - doesn't need to be directed and doesn't ask you to repeat yourself. They were great! Were great!! But then....they cashed a bad check for me in which I requested they hold and violated an agreement with me based on not educating their tellers who assured me the check was good!! The manager even admitted they don't train the staff sufficiently! I was going to file a claim against them with an agency I'm informed will advocate and had my attorney draft a letter explaining the law they violated! I'm out $395 due to teller ignorance and inability to perform as agreed! The President was rude and nasty about it. It was four years ago this occurred but my review was sitting here lingering as unfinished. I like this credit union, I really do but they ripped off $395 from me or should I say allowed it via poor execution of protecting their members , mainly me! read more

I had an issue with a branch manager at the Cambrian branch literally left me in tears decided to reached out to higher management, they handled it swiftly and professionally. They are very unprofessional and rude, primarily Mr Ordonez. I have an issue with them because they have reported me to Chex Systems but I clearly do not have an account with them. I called in and confirmed with Karen and Marlon Ordonez and they both confirmed with me that I do not have an account with Commonwealth Central Credit Union. That being said I requested a letter stating that I did not have any outstanding balances with them. At first it seemed promising that we were going to bottom of the problem. But as the conversation continued Marlon starting getting really unprofessional and agitated with me. I asked to speak to a supervisor but he just hangs up on me. Commonwealth Central Credit Union has reported me to Chex Systems as having an account with them that seems to be in negative status. All the banks that pull my check systems come back with the same information with Commonwealth reporting me to Chex Systems. Mr Ordonez was no help and he expressed he really does not care to help. I have went through the proper Channels to dispute the item directly with Chex Systems. Mr. Ordonez also stated he pulled my Chex Systems report Without my permission and stated the report he pulled did not have commonwealth on there. Common Wealth has me in a bind as I cannot qualify or get approved for financing anywhere. I want to report them to the Attorney General or whoever is in charge of this matter. read more

I visited this, my favorite branch of CommonWealth Central Credit Union, to take care of a financial transaction I couldn't do online, and Luis Nunez once again helped me. As always, he expertly completed my request, I signed the documents for the transaction, received some cash I requested, and was on my way within a short period of time. Luis is always friendly, kind and helpful, and treated me with dignity and respect. I love his smile, which always brightens my day, and hope you visit this branch so you too can feel what I do whenever Luis assists me with my financial business. This is the kind of person who should be training others in providing the very best customer service, and I hope he is recognized for his fine qualities. I'm astonished at how AWFUL they are. Five years ago on behalf of my mother : - submittd my dads death cert. I took it into the office and they took a copy of it. - close and transfered his CD to her checking account - have myself added to her account -I exchanged numerous emails with a rep who assured me they things were being "handled." Despite my having POA they would not answer my questions directly. My mom who was apparently was confused about these procedures said all was fine. Five years later, my recently mother just a few days ago and Commonwealth claims: -there are no notes in the file despite all my emails and my visiting the bank branch at least twice in 2020. - they claim never got the death certificate... - they never cashed the CD-- - they never advised my mother or me about my becoming the beneficiary of the account instead of the POA. I wasn't clear on the difference. BofA gave me MUCH better advice and service in 2020 and ever since. Furthermore, the woman I spoke to today has limited customer service skills. Admittedly, she was clear...but that was it. She did not express condolences. She failed to offer any investigation as to why my requests were not fulfilled in 2020. She did not offer any explanation as to why the death certificate was lost. She did not offer to do anything for me AT ALL and was a very cold fish. I"ve been dealt with both my step fathers estate and am now dealing with my moms estate. This is by far the WORST service I"ve EVER received. Even CHASE was easier to deal with. read more

Honestly, besides the decent interest rates for banking they have been subpar in every other category. I only joined because it was recommended by a friend. Problems: - Constantly locking us out of our account and using our cards because we bought anything out of town or on amazon of all places. - Try to fix the problem? Also get locked out of your account. Give them the correct address? They say it's wrong and again get locked out. - You need to call and wait an hour or go into the bank to ever resolve anything - even setting up our accounts originally was a headache - app always needs to be restarted or won't work Pro: - it's nice to see a greater than 1% interest rate on our accounts Just the constant hassle is going to make us move services eventually. it's not "if" but "when". No amount of nice employees will change this. It's the BS "security" that's making us leave read more

I've had an auto loan with commonwealth for going on 3 years now. Online services are non existent, they have an app that doesn't let you do anything other than check balances. You can't do any form of online transfer or payments. Very inconvenient. Furthermore their hours online are wrong. People have jobs and have to work, the least you can do is update your store hours so people don't waste their time after work trying to make it in time before they close. Won't be going through commonwealth for any future loans or credit cards. Overall an inconsistent and even more inconvenient credit union. read more

Over the last two weeks I've worked with Paul Feist from their Financial Services Department to get a loan squared away that wasn't easy to get anywhere but with the credit union. Paul from the first phone call we had went out of his way to be helpful, kind, caring and calm (!!) and corresponded with me via email or phone, whichever one was appropriate. This whole process could have been wrapped up in 1/2 day but I was the one that had to read every letter and ask a million questions. No problem; he NEVER lost his cool, even when he had to redo the paperwork because I dragged my feet too long. We all know that credit unions are the best but my experience with WealthCU was made by this young man. I would highly recommend him for any job anywhere. There hasn't been a single event that would be worthy of more than one star. They are stuck in some kind of time warp and will only respond to actions made in person or in writing with signature. Phone and online services are minimal and customer service is completely useless. I would never recommend using for any banking services at all. read more

WORST customer service ever and loan approve system! i ask for an auto loan with a tier one credit history under my belt multiple car loans paid off in outstanding criteria and this idiots have the audacity to deny credit to elite credit customers. I have been a member here for over 20 years and these past two weeks have been ridiculous. I do not like the limit of only 7 transfers a month. They take $3.00 then it goes to $32.00, then a check doesn't clear when I have over $4,000.00 in my savings account. not only did Commonwealth take my $32.00 they do not honor my check!!!??? Poor Poor customer service. I could see if I didn't have money available for a transfer, but I HAD PLENTY! I am considering other sources as I type this. So sad, because I really hate change. Also, I was quite surprised at the star rating on Yelp, but now I get it. read more

Car loan from hell. It honestly seems fictitious that they could be this bad. Their systems of doing business are archaic (reminiscent of at least 20 years ago), I can't even set up a direct withdrawal, and can't access my loan information in a way that is meaningful or possible to understand. I live in Sacramento, and they keep telling me I need to come in a brach to resolve issues. I just blindly keep sending them payments through my bank and keep being told I'm behind, even though I've made double payments and even the customer service rep whom I contacted said in the computer, it didn't make sense to her either. Their computers are often freezing, and at this point I'm feeling like I need legal counsel. They have in fact single-handedly ruined my FICO score. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

I bank at the Commonwealth off of Technology Drive, also called "Central Branch." I love this place!!! Let me count the ways: 1 - The convenience (I work walking-distance from it), and basically every 7-11 is equipped with a fee-free ATM 2 - The "fair treatment" I get from the staff, as i'm constantly referred to as "a member" 3 - The security, which is fun to have a "password" before you can start talking to the teller 4 - The music. Yes, the music, i was in the lobby listening to Sleater Kinney yesterday and i swung by today and they were playing a Smith's song. 5 - Virginia, who is helping me buy a new car! 6 - Online banking has saved my life. Period. ... and a couple stamps, and time and money and... hell, online banking is the shizz. read more

I've been a member of CCCU for over 30 years, back when it was the District Employees Credit Union. They have been very good to me, with excellent customer service over the phone. The downside? 1) They no longer have any branches west of Hwy 17. 2)Their bill pay sucks - takes a minimum of 2 days to actually transfer the money, even though it's an electronic transfer. Also, it doesn't act as a check register at all. If you pay $1000 worth of bills, it doesn't show anywhere until it actually pays the bill. Well, it does, but you lose it once you close the page. So you have to write that number down somewhere and remember that, essentially, you don't have it anymore. (Like, who keeps a check register anymore, right???) But as I said, they're helpful, part of the CoOp thing so I can use any credit union atm for free, etc. read more

I don't understand why people think that other people are perfect? I guess people think that things are going to go right, all the time? Well, I had a problem with the 'billpay" and came in to see the CU with a plan A and B. I found out that there were another place where the checks were processed and that they were NOT coming out on time!! i went to plan A to make sure that the checks would not overlap. I canceled the bill pay. I then went to play B to just write a cashier's check, which was free from the CU!!! I DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF! I love the CU, because there are no monthly fees, which other banks charge!!! I don't like fees! I will take this CU, anytime!!! read more

My wife and I have been members of this credit union for 16 + years. They have saved us over $50,000.00 in interest payments on our home loan as the rates are great. We have Checking, Savings, CD's Auto Loan and a mortgage that will be paid off nest year thanks to the low rates. Best ever! read more

Judith provided some unbelievably excellent customer service throughout the entire process which served to highlight her competence at her job, but also her competence at just being a wonderful person who genuinely cares about her customer/s. I've been with many banks and credit unions over the years and CommonWhealth does a great job. I like the fact that I can go borrow $15K for two days to buy a vehicle with no fees charged at all. If you are someone who always runs out of money, performs too many labor -intensive transactions, or just a needy pesky customer, than go to Wells and get charged for everything 24/7. A credit union has to make money to stay afloat, and they should make money off customers fees who are always making bad decisions which can cause living paycheck-to-paycheck.. read more

My former girlfriend (who is also a CCCU member) wrote me a check that came out of a different bank, one of her other accounts, Chase to be exact. Unfortunately she forgot to sign the check. Unfortunately i didnt look at the check to notice the missing signature. Unfortunately the teller at the bank when i deposited it didnt notice either. So the check goes through, gets deposited and the funds are pulled out of Chase and into CCCU. As far as Chase is concerned the deal is done, the money is in my bank now and they have no idea about the un-signed check. CCCU calls me up and says that i'll need to take the physical check back to herand have her sign it. So i take time off work, go pick up the check, drive to Santa Cruz (where she works) have her sign it and then head back. On my trip back i get another call from CCCU saying to not bother, she will have to write me a new check because this one is getting returned. I was a bit annoyed because what changed in the last hour, but whatever. Chase paid the money, CCCU had the money, and we had the check signed and given back to CCCU. Meanwhile CCCU was claiming that Chase didnt pay the money and we would have to get it back from them. She would have to write me another check and we could try this again. That error caused $4000 to be tied up (held by CCCU) for over 2 months. You read that right, more than two months. 10 weeks. 73 days. 1752 hours. 105,120 minutes... you get the point. CCCU eventually released the funds to me after they held it hostage and we gave up ever seeing it again. All the while they could have done this on day 1 and saved us a lot of time, headache, and hassle. Thanks guys! read more

We've been with CommonWealth since the early 90's? It's been a long time for many reasons. Everyone is always happy and willing to help. The line is never more than 4 minutes. The online banking is perfect. Never had a problem that they didn't fix immediately. Most 7-11 ATM's no charge. They actually watch for unusual activity on your accounts and catch it! Auto loans are snag free. I was surprised when I saw the reviews and decided it was time for ours. We have zero complaints with this banking institution and highly recommend them read more

I have banked with Common Wealth on Union Ave. for many years, but not by choice. My company deposits funds here, so we are automatically members. I have gotten 2nd mortgage loans here two times, and each time there have been games played, and major errors made by the loan officers. The phone tag is ridiculous! When you can not reach you officer, the other loan officer says "I'm sorry, only your loan officer can access your application information", which is not true! (ask the manager) The Union Ave. branch has no private rooms, but they can not find your loan officer...??? They seem to drag their feet intentionally, just to make you grovel. On the other hand, all the tellers are very professional, courteous and friendly... Go figure...??? If you have any difficulties, contact the branch manager IMMEDIATELY!!! They will put a stop to the child play. Then write a letter to corporate, so they are aware of the problems! read more

I got myself into a big pinch with a loan...JOVAN on the Customer Service "chat line" was on the call and quickly came up with a great solution that really made a difference for my family's finances! In general, their everyday services were adequate, but they made enough shady moves that I've since switched to Tech CU. CommonWealth automatically opts-in patrons applying for a credit card or loan to an insurance coverage that costs a small fee each month and actually NEGATIVELY IMPACTS YOUR CREDIT should you ever need to use it. I discovered the additional line item on my car loan statement, inquired about it and had them remove it. When I applied for a credit card, I specifically asked that they NOT add it to the account, signed what I was told was opt-out form, but it still appeared on the first month's statement. Strikes 1 and 2. (So much for trying to support a local credit union instead of one of the giant banks.) Strike 3 was when they erroneously reported to the credit bureaus that I was late on my credit card payment. Despite paying on time every month *from a CommonWealth account*, they refused to make the update. If that's their idea of customer service, I'll politely decline. read more

Update...another horrific experience....keep in mind my vehicle was financed through this credit union Recently I bought a new vehicle and traded my vehicle that was financed with common wealth in. So some time after I had already traded in the car I get a call from "Gaby", which not to mention in 2014 she was so horrible that we made the request directly to branch manager that he ensure that she refrain from calling me about anything relating to anything on my accounts there as she was making threats and became verbally abusive. We asked that our acct be assigned to another representative! Now all of a sudden she calls me to say " your acct is now past due" ... She was oddly very nice saying... Oh okay, no problem. Just call the dealership to let them know. She asked questions like where I traded the car in, location, and phone number. I have her all the info and even the name and phone number or the sales manager. That was it. I hung up thinking....this girl is up to something...she's not just nice after treating us like crap....low and behold I was right....I went to lunch and tried to use my debit card for a $7 transaction and it was declined.... I immediately thought of Gaby! I called the bank and found out indeed she has put a freeze on my acct! As irate as I was I went in person to discuss this matter with them....the removed the freeze only to put it back on days later when I was trying to withdraw money to pay my rent...they told me I couldn't do anything with my acct.... Not even deposit $...lol ...I completely lost it after this because the dealership had already paid off the car loan.... Guess what.... They forgot to not put a freeze on the acct!!! I am confidant that this business is run by lazy imbasals.... I would never recommend them to anyone!!!! read more
