TERRIBLE!!!!! This is the WORST company I have EVER dealt with. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I paid them $150 to come spray my yard for bugs & the only thing they did was spray the bricks on the perimeter on my house. The yard was not sprayed, the bushes was not sprayed, ONLY the brick at the bottom of the home. When my husband called them about this the guy had the WORST attitude. He kept the conversation with my husband going in circles for 20 minutes about how spraying for ants was a different service than just spraying my yard for bugs like we asked them to do. NONE of this was explained to us beforehand & there was no written contract. We told them we had ants & asked to have our yard sprayed. Now all this drama because they did a poor job & only spent 5 minutes doing what I could have done myself with some Ortho spray. They weren't answering the phones either until I left a negative review stating I would update my review after they returned our phone calls. He had some remarks about my review as well. My husband told me he was pissed about my review & was complaining about it on the phone. Do yourselves a favor. Spend half of the money these guys charge you & just go to Terminix, even they do a better job. I also DO NOT appreciate your comments about being a psychiatrist after I made a comment about your work not being good enough. Who are you to make comments about my mental health? We had the pleasure of working with Commonwealth Exterminating Company at our home yesterday and we couldn't be more pleased! From first contact on the phone they were polite, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help us immediately. We had a decade long relationship with another local exterminator and when we discovered we had a large group of hornets that had taken up residence underground right next to our pool. When I contacted the other company they were not able to get us on their schedule for over three weeks. As you can imagine, in the middle of summer, with kids in the house, during a quarantine, not having use of the pool because of inch and a half long hornets is a pretty big issue! Well, Commonwealth to the rescue! I reached out to them and they had me on the schedule within a matter of days. Their technician Chris was courteous, professional, friendly, masked and gloved the entire visit (both inside and outside while he was here for our safety and his), and their pricing was incredibly fair. We will now be switching our semi-annual service to Commonwealth and I hope to bring them more business through my employers. Thank you, Cory and the team at Commonwealth for making it safe for my family and puppies to enjoy our backyard again, since it's not safe to go anywhere else right now. Commonwealth does my insect and rat services the last year and I couldn't be happier with the service. They respond Well when I call they show up on time the services last and they stand behind their product. I added termite Service and they completed repairs in my tiny crawlspace. I can tell they did a good job. And for the first time my crawlspace breathes because they fix the ventilation. I'm not sure what the others are talking about. I am an agent at Greg Garrett Realty and Commonwealth has been my go-to termite/moisture company since the beginning of my career. They do excellent work and I have been very satisfied whenever I have used them. Cory, Johnny, and Chris Seek are great to work with. There was one particular time when I was especially glad that I used Commonwealth. A seller had an old house where we noticed signs of potential foundation problems by sloped flooring. I got the standard home inspection and a termite/moisture inspection. I also got a foundation inspection. The sellers wanted me to use their termite and moisture company that they had the property under warranty with, but I advised the buyer I was representing to insist that we get our own inspection with our own termite/moisture company. It was an older house that had settled and the inspectors had difficulty getting into the crawl space. Out of the 3 inspectors, the only one who said that he was willing to dig in order to get into the crawl space was Chris Seek with Commonwealth. Chris and I cleared away some rocks and he was able to get into the crawl space. What he found was 10's of thousands of dollars worth of damage to the foundation. The termite company that had this house under warranty refused to acknowledge that there was a problem (they probably never crawled underneath the house!). We were able to get out of the contract on the house that otherwise would have seemed to be a good deal. Someone else bought the house and to our knowledge, those major foundation issues with visible evidence through sloped flooring and plenty of evidence underneath the house have never been resolved to this day. After that, we found another older home in a historic district. While it didn't have nearly the sloping of the first home, Commonwealth did find that it needed a lot of work in its foundation as well. This time, the seller was willing to do the work, and the buyer I was working with not only had the problem resolved but got new flooring as a result throughout most of the 1st floor of their house at no added cost to the buyer! When I bought my own house, Commonwealth didn't find anything wrong with it, and I was glad to know that if something could have been found, they would be much more likely to find it and thoroughly resolve it than many other termite/moisture companies. When I had a bug problem at my house that I called an exterminator about earlier this week after traps I put out weren't enough, of course, I called Commonwealth! read more

The work was done adequately enough but dealing with Cory Newell, the owner was horrible. The payment was not made at closing and due to a misunderstanding regarding the loan and draw terms. Cory harassed my contractor, the title company and myself and placed a lien on the house even though payment was made on an invoice that was just over thirty days old and then charged $250 to remove it. He is the rudest person that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with in my entire life and I feel incredibly sorry for the folks that have to work for him. .. The fact that he calls himself a "Reverend" is a joke. STAY AWAY FROM COMMONWEALTH EXTERMINATING IN NEWPORT NEWS! read more

I was with this company for 10 years until recently. The technician, Richard was always courteous and professional. The front office, however, has many problems. The manager??? David is rude, entitiled, pushy, and unprofessional. After not returning several calls regarding a no-show appointment, he finally left a message telling me to call when I could schedule one. Before I could do that he sent out a different technician who put a potentially toxic granule down where my dogs could get to it. This technician did not have my permission to be on my property or treat my home, even for the 10 minutes he was here for which I was charged $100. He didn't consider the possible consequences to my dogs, nor did David care at all when I informed him. Th management doesn't care about loyalty, customer satisfaction, or potential harm to animals of long time loyal customers. Don't sign a contract with this company. read more
