Favorite coffee spot in Fairfax (my go-to drink is the caramel vienna with whipped cream). Amazing coffee. The pastries are also very yummmyyyy--light, fluffy, and flavorful. However, their straws are ASS! I cant even stir my coffee without my straw cracking and splitting. And then the straw doesnt work. I came pretty early in the morning for some coffee and food. The store wasn't too busy, with around maybe 2 people in line there when I came in. When i first placed my order, the cashier seemed extremely pissed off to be there, and only said a single word after I put in my credit card which was "okay." Whatever, maybe not a morning person. I got my coffee immediately. I ordered a vanilla sweet cream cold brew and it was overly sweet and barely tasted like coffee. I also ordered a chicken sausage sandwich. However, after around 20 minute of waiting for my food, another worker waves me over and tells me the guy who took my order never put my sandwich in. Keep in mind he was looking at and made eye contact with me maybe around 10 times the entire time I was waiting to the point where I thought there was something on my face or shirt. At this point, I needed to leave so I asked for a refund. The worker told me they could only do refunds at the end of the shift, and told me to write my name and the four digits of my credit card number on a random sheet of paper. I was in a hurry so I did this, and he assured me he would get the refund sorted right away. Not only have I not gotten a refund yet, but I've emailed and called for two days now and have yet to receive a single response. I don't think they do refunds. read more

Sorry to be a stick in the mud, was really excited to try this new coffee shop but was very disappointed. Iced chai tea was horrible (tasted nothing like expected), maple cold brew had no taste, and worst of all just these two drinks were $11+! Unfortunately I'll be going back to the "other guys", better drinks for way less money. Hope future customers have a better experience than I did, good luck. read more

I stayed at a Marriott hotel just around the corner from this Compass Coffee. It's been a pleasant experience each of the last 3 days I've gone. The baristas have been different each morning, and they've all been energetic, happy and helpful. I tried the maple latte and it was delicious, just pretty sweet! My opinion is purely subjective for this review. I am not sure how or why this place has 4-5 stars, unless it is random friends, wives, or Virginia's east coast taste buds are eroding like the horrible taste buds of folks in California. First, the customer service was fantastic. Fast and efficient. I ordered the iced cherry blossom and it tasted very syrupy and artificial. Very hard to drink and about 40 some minutes, I realized that the drink was more than 3/4 full and threw it away, knowing this isn't my type of coffee place. I tried my friend's iced lavender drink after we had ordered and to me it tasted like something was fried and too sweet....it was nasty. I will never return here again. Best coffee shops in the Fairfax/Oakton/Vienna area in my opinion are De Clieu Coffee and Caffe Amouri for their quality and barista making skills. read more

I agree with the last reviewer. The cappuccino tasted burnt. It also had a slight alcoholic aftertaste. Maybe their coffee is better? Other minuses: 1) They don't warm up their baked goods. 2) Seating is mostly hard and uncomfortable (mostly stools). The area feels like a large cafeteria. 3) There are no shades to the large windows, so I can imagine that it will be very hot in the summer. read more

Tried the Almond Butter Latte and it was a good latte, but it didn't taste like almond butter in the slightest. It was essentially just a sweetened latte. Otherwise the ambience was good and there were plenty of seats. They had decent bakery options but not much in the way of food if you're actually hungry. read more

I have enjoyed coming to this location for awhile now but wanted to finally leave a review to give a shout out to the employee named Asia who works here. She was super kind and friendly while taking the orders for myself and my friend today. We then sat outside chatting and Asia came to check on how we were liking our drinks. We both did not like the taste of our Pumpkin Spice lattes but weren't going to say anything and just drink them anyway. She insisted that she make us new drinks on the house so that we could leave with drinks we enjoyed. She went above and beyond, even making a small taster version of a drink my friend was unsure about trying. Thank you Asia! read more

The environment is cute and good for work, but my oat milk chai was definitely not chai. It tasted like a sad fake version of real chai. Very sad I paid $6 for a cavity. read more

I came to this coffee shop hopeful and for some solitude to get some uninterrupted reading done. I ordered an iced chai latte and it wasn't worth the money. They put so much ice in that there was really only a few sips in there. The chai itself wasn't spicy, it wasn't even flavorful. I found myself searching for the flavor of the chai as I sipped. It tasted like I was drinking straight up milk. The pastry case had nothing in it but something called Bethlehem bars. The atmosphere is sterile at best and not a cozy corner if you're looking for one. I also didn't see any dairy alternatives, which was disappointing. read more

For drink sizes, they offer small (1 shot espresso), medium (2 shots), and large (3 shots). The menu that is displayed only shows 1 price which is the medium size (super inefficient and confusing). I asked if the pastry coffee cake had nuts in it because I am allergic to tree nuts. The ladies response was, "I don't know" and I asked if she would check the ingredients and she said, "we get them delivered from outside so I don't know the ingredients".
