A very Dear Friend, from the Michiana area, who had been caring for her severely disabled husband for 36 years,had made this her first destination to see me and stayed at the Compass. She had never stayed at the beach and satisfied, however, I have over 30 years experience in service, I worked at Daytonas most visited and repeat customers for 30 +years. Treasure Island, on Daytona Beach Shores. Gone now due to hurricane damage. This Compass, has only been here in Flagler Beach a couple years and already going down hill... The staff however wonderful and made the best of it for the guests. The floors are filthy... Shower and walk through there are black imprints of your feet... The railings on the terrace seemed to have never been cleaned, as well as the chairs. One night the elevator broke down and they helped to get everyone up and down the stairs. The pool very small as well as the pool bar. I think maybe 10 chairs available due to lack of space. Same for the Rooftop Bar, seating outside minimal and the view is hard because of the way they built it. No mirrors aside from the restroom. No table though there were 2 chairs for one. No microwave. I will stop listing the cons... Pros, the beds are comfy, the food is great... Especially the chocolate cake in the downstairs restaurant... I wrote an email to the manager with no response. Given she owes us nothing, yet hope she read and corrected, retrained housekeeping and stepped up to make this hotel a wonderful experience. She plans to visit me again soon. Not sure yet where we'll stay. The residents of Flagler County were completely against this hotel but those in charge ignored us. We are one of the last little quaint beachside communities left and we want to keep it that way. We have wonderful restaurants and B&Bs. We want to keep it to be as is and not expand to a hectic over commercialized area. PS Across the street The Ombré Nail Salon is a must, for services, and scenery. Blessings read more

For my 3200th review, I'm going with Compass Hotel by Margaritaville in Flagler Beach, FL. Stayed here for two nights leading up to Christmas Eve and it was such a great stay. I picked this hotel bc I noticed it was newer, and it was away but close enough to the St Augustine. I love that they have free parking and a parking garage here was a nice surprise. I came into town and asked if I can check in early. They let me know to come back in an hour and they would have a room available. Once checked in, they gave us bracelets to use to open our door and use the elevator. These were so convenient bc I always had tons of stuff in my hand. Our beds were super comfy and our rooms were very roomy. They had small fridges. We had a view of the small side street in which there were a few businesses including a coffee shop. Though did not get a chance to visit it. We left to go to St. Augustine both days, but what I loved the most was their breakfasts in the morning and walking across the street to see the sunrise on the beach. It was such a nice location for that. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, & I was def happy I chose staying here during our holiday. I do wish we got to check out the roof top, but each time I checked it was close. This was such a great visit and I'm glad I know it's here. I would gladly come back. Now I want to search for all their locations. I know there is one by Anna Maria Island which we also love to visit. This is also a dog friendly hotel Which is great for all the dog lovers! read more

No hostess appeared at the restaurant and we went to the bar-a lady there said she was the only server at the restaurant (in other room). We sat directly in front of tv where the bar tender, Ray, after we had been there for awile, changed the channel for another patron without even having the courtesy of asking us if we were watching (we clearly were watching). We liked this hotel and would stay here again. It's right in the heart of Flagler Beach so easy to walk around the shops and restaurants. The room is pretty basic but had everything we needed. The included breakfast is above average, but they needed more staff the weekend we were there. We enjoyed the small pool. Parking was free and no resort fee, so the price is right. read more

My wife and I booked a quick staycation here a couple of weeks after the grand opening, and it mostly lived up to the Margaritaville standard. Alanna at check-in set the tone with a warm smile, easy energy, and zero stress. The place is still rounding out a few finishing touches, but everything we cared about was up and running: pool, gym, gift shop, bars, restaurants, etc. You're one block off the beach, so if you want that full ocean-view, east-facing rooms on one of the higher floors provide a decent option. We went with a standard room (no balcony) and didn't feel short-changed; there's plenty to keep you busy in and around the hotel. Despite there being multiple bars and restaurants at the hotel, we enjoyed some of the local restaurants along A1A. The room itself has a spacious layout with the usual Margaritaville touches--coffee maker, mini-fridge, and plenty of outlets. They did make some odd design choices: The wooden headboard + low-hung artwork basically turns the art into a makeshift pillow. Not a deal-breaker, just funny. The shower has solid pressure, but the half-door design means water on the floor and an unnecessarily cool shower. The pool area has plenty of loungers, umbrellas at every other chair, and towels. Wi-Fi was free, strong, and steady everywhere we went. We had drinks at the bar--service was relaxed, fitting the laid-back beach mood. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was surprisingly good, one of the better hotel breakfasts I've had lately. Rates are right in line with other Florida beachfront spots. The usual Margaritaville rewards perks haven't rolled out here yet. There's no beach service, but the shoreline was perfect for a stroll, and watching a few surfers. I was pleased with the free parking, something I don't usually see at a beachfront location. Overall, the friendly front-desk staff, well-appointed rooms, and Margaritaville vibe made this an easy place to recommend. read more

We booked a Friday night stay at this new property in Flagler Beach to celebrate Father's day a little early. It is half a block from the beach and nearby restaurants. The property is on the smaller side with only two floors of guest rooms as well as a rooftop bar with beautiful views. They also have a restaurant, bar and pool on the ground floor, as well as a gym. They have only been open about three weeks so they are still working out a few kinks. Overall, the rooms were nice, with a refrigerator and coffee machine. They provide a complimentary breakfast buffet in the mornings, which was a step above your standard complimentary breakfast buffet. We did not eat at the hotel for lunch or dinner but enjoyed frozen drinks at their poolside bar. read more

3 things were less than ideal. 1. Parking. On the first Friday of every month, there is a festival in front of the hotel as I'm sure you know. People park in your parking lot to attend the festival. So I, as a paying guest, had to park three blocks away. When I asked the front desk about it, her initial response was there is nothing they can do. I then spoke to two managers, John and Cassie and at least they were sympathetic. Cassie even gave me her parking spot so I could park at the hotel. But I think you should really keep a monitor in your lot the first Friday evening of every month and turn people away if they don't have a parking permit. Simple solution. You guys are aware of the problem, I don't know why you don't fix it. 2. Your Chromecast function on the TVs simply does not work. I suspect that your TVs are hardwired and not on wi-fi. Chromecast won't work unless the TV is on the same Wi-Fi as the phone. This was very disappointing when, during a rainstorm, we wanted to cuddle up and watch a movie together. 3. Your walls are very thin. I was awakened several times during my three night stay by the voices of people in their rooms talking. I thought perhaps they were in the hallway, so I checked. They were not, they were simply talking in their rooms. read more

A friend and I are locals and she needed a day out. We decided to cart to lunch at Barnhills but it was closed. Against my better judgement, we went Nextdoor to the Compass Hotel's chill bar. One server and she had only been there 2-3 days. She had no clue how to serve but did give it her best shot, I think. We both ordered the nacho platter, it came out cold and mushy. We should have sent it back but really just wanted to remove ourself from this hot mess. 3rd time here and it gets worse and worse. The large windows are so dirty you cannot see out them. Went to restroom and the sinks are filthy, the bathroom was dingy and unclean. For the life of me HOW ON EARTH do you let this new and once beautiful hotel decline in less than 2 years!! The place should be thriving and making money left and right. It is maddening for us locals who want to love it. Who has the money to just sit there and watch youre investment waste away? It is SAD! The manager on the way out seemed a bit concerned but never tried to "make it right". Pay your workers better and get caring management who will do the job! DO BETTER compass! You don't need to move your car from the hotel parking (unless is a weekday, everything is closed by 8:30pm) because you can walk to bars, restaurants, or the beach...excellent service from the moment you walk in the lobby. Rooms extra clean and well kept. The roof top bar has an amazing view...100% recommended! read more

Wow! Probably the worst meal I've ever had. The meal took forever to arrive. The chips and dip~ the dips were good but just cans opened but the chips were really stale and really crumbs. The Hawaiian chicken was drowned in teriyaki sauce to the point of being inedible. This may have been a good thing since the chicken was barely barely cooked. The icing on the cake?! ~ the Caribbean chicken salad came out with NO chicken. The bartender/server was swamps and MIA most of the time. Everything took way longer than it should have. The bill was over $100 w no drinks at all. What in the world justified the cost? I really wish I had taken pictures bc it really is too crazy to believe. First off, Margaritaville was AWESOME! Food was so good, drinks were so good and our server Brielle was THE BOMB. She was so sweet , friendly and efficient. I give the actual restaurant 100 stars. I gave 3 stars because of the lady on the first floor front desk... my girlfriends and I walked in and asked the lady if we took the elevator upstairs to get to margaritaville ( we are from PA and were visiting) this lady looked at us like we had 6 heads. She was so rude answering us we all just kind of stared at her trying to figure out if that really happened. We all looked at each other then when we looked back she was mocking us to the younger girl working with her. This was Saturday, May 2 around 6/7pm. She was miserable and not the person you'd want representing your business. read more

My stay was fine, it was decent place to sleep. The room that I stayed in was clean but not super clean. But I have some critiques, the room that I stayed in didn't have windows that can open for fresh air. Which wasn't great because when I first walked into the room it has a really weird smell and it sucks that had to use the A/C instead of opening a window. I wish the windows open up! I also didn't like it that room artwork and the hotel ads are AI slop and they didn't commission an artist to do some artwork or design the ads. Over all my experience was fine. read more

After our last encounter with this hotel's front desk clerk we will not be going back. Also our family and friends will not be staying there. Yesterday we went there for a late lunch-2ish. Street parking was limited. The parking lot had plenty of open spaces. We assumed we could park there while spending our money at their establishment. Important note: only to dine there on their property. We then planned to leave with our vehicle. We stopped by the front desk to confirm we were considered "guests" as we were dining there and that parking in the garage would be fine. Upon asking the clerk the first word out of his mouth was "no". The parking is evidently only for "overnight hotel guests" not those dining there. After a very rude and condescending lecture from this clerk I finally managed to get a word in and ask is there dedicated parking for hotel guests that are dining there? Rather than a concise polite no ma'am. He continued on his rude and condescending litany. Stating "I'm trying to tell you" in an egregiously inappropriate and aggressive tone of voice. A much taller, older, wiser, and well mannered individual looked at me and said no ma'am we do not have dedicated parking for those dining here. I then advised the front desk clerk if you wonder why you do not have business from the locals review your treatment of them. We left and spent our money elsewhere. When the hotel initially opened we dined in the restaurant. Everything went well until we went to the front desk. We wanted to see the common area decor (hallways). We discovered a fob was necessary to do this. Of course, in attempting to ask the front desk clerk about that we were treated to a condescending and rude lecture about fobs. I believe it was the same front desk clerk, and we can only assume he believed because we live here we must be too ignorant to possibly know what a fob might be or how to utilize one. When he finally stopped lecturing us long enough to understand, we wanted to see the hallways and to see a room would also be nice he dismissively informed us that someone would be down in a minute to show us. We waited a few minutes and left. It was apparent it would be more than a few minutes. After this experience, we contacted corporate and were assured we would be contacted by someone. We never were contacted. All of that said my best advice at this point would be to either replace the clerk or train him adequately in manners and listening skills. It frequently is not what you say, but how you say it. Rudely lecturing and/or arguing with a customer or potential customer is not good business assuming you have a profit motive. Both situations should have been handled completely differently. You might consider new signage. Guest by definition includes someone dining in your establishment. The signs should say "overnight guests". That would be much clearer. All of that said we will never set foot in that establishment again. It is a shame. We so looked forward to having a clean hotel for our family and friends close to our home. However, we cannot recommend any establishment that treats its customers this way. read more

Visited the Compass Hotel in Flagler Beach for dinner with friends. Keep in mind that the hotel is new and not fully open and they are not ready for prime time. Lobby restaurant is typical of a Margaritaville Hotel and it's a little noisy. Staff are friendly and service was adequate. Hopefully, as they become more seasoned and confident, they will develop and charm which is lacking at the moment. Finger food was adequate but the shrimp basket was overdone and the batter needs a major overhaul. Again, it's early days so my comments are meant to be helpful. Wine a spirit portions are small and this was the primary complaint of the 6 guests at our table. Management was unconcerned with the complaint and this will be a problem if not taken seriously considering the growing number of choices in the area. The potential of the Compass in Flagler is huge but it needs to develop its own 'personality'. It could be the crown jewel of Flagler Beach as it matures. read more
