My insurance company sent me here. Big mistake. These guys are so sexist, talking down to me and outright gaslighting me so obviously that it was embarrassing. I needed my windshield replaced. Pretty straightforward, right? Nah. First they order the wrong windshield. Then I come back and they replace it with a windshield that has obvious scratches on it and the inside of the car has grease smudges and soot all over the place. I go back again and the guy putting in the new windshield is the same guy who put in the scratched one (when I specifically asked them not to use him! Owner says "Don't tell him you were unhappy." WHAT? By all means, we don't want to upset the incompetent installer at the expense of the customer.") Utterly ridiculous. To make matters worse, now 3 months later the trim used to hold the windshield in place is peeling off on either side and I'm worried it's going to come off when I'm driving. Just an utter nightmare from beginning to end. read more

Called this place to get a rough estimate and to just verify they could replace the glass in my storm door*. They gave a rougher number and I brought the door in. After telling him how I'd rather use polycarbonate instead of dealing with shattered tempered glass again, they gave me a "sure no problem, give us a week". Got a call 2 days later that is was done and they helped me secure it in the back of my jeep for transport. Theses guys are awesome and I had a great experience. *so the storm door glass got shattered by a rock getting thrown by my lawnmower. These people are CRAZY. I went there to get an estimate for a crack in my windshield. One of the owners, Augie, was there so I told him after I spoke to my insurance company I'd call back to schedule an appointment. I phoned back and got Anthony. I booked an appointment for that Sat. which I then had to cancel because something personal came up and I couldn't go that day. The guy who booked my appointment, Anthony, then proceeded to call me, write me, send me post cards and now is crank calling me! WHAT A COMPLETE WHACKJOB! Returned to NY from Florida. Back windshield was broken probably from a snow blower. Went on safelite site, could not schedule a convenient appointment. Waited on call back. Meanwhile called my Allstqte insurance broker who arrange for me to go to Competition in Port Washington. They are approved by Allstate, and provide a warranty. Glass was replaced in less than 2 hours. Great workmanship and service. Highly recommend them, and greqt appreciation to my Allstate man Michael Weiss. read more

My car was broken from back. The technicians are nice people and helpful. The manager is the rudest person I met in years. He refused to get his fees by card. He didn't mention that until the end. He took my ID to leave to the bank to get cash. He didn't want to give me a receipt until I insisted. He was intimidating in purpose and I was so close to call the cops. On 7/12/19 this company came to replace the windshield I was busy doing laundry I allowed them to work on my car and not stand there to watch them. Afterwards the other man came to calibrate the eyesight part on the windshield. I came to my car and noticed the damage on the drivers seat it looked like someone sliced the drivers seat area. I called the company and was asked to send pictures which I did. I never heard from them and I found that to be very strange that you would ask for pictures and not acknowledge the damage was done by one of your workers. I am giving this as a warning to anyone about this company I have no complaints about the windshield but this is going to cost me to fix my leather seats. read more

I had my windshield replaced here. I came in and started the process, they ordered the glass and I came back and had it installed. Took 2 hours and they did a perfect job. The glass looks great. The car was clean afterwards. I also had a broken home thermopane window replaced here. They measured the window and ordered the glass. I came back and they installed it . Rude. Unpleasant customer service. When the work was completed they didn't bother to call me to tell me my car was ready. Then when I went to make the final payment with my credit card, they tried to hide my original cash deposit and pretended to "forget" that I had paid it. Never again. read more

I'm going to make this as simple as I can... If you want your glass changed for pretty cheap and done at the very least what I call decently.. then go to competition glass. However -- make sure you know that the windshield will not be ready for at least 6+ hours, and no one will tell you that it's not worth it to wait at the shop, just having the owner tell you that your car is next inline, while you acually see his workers either working on 1 car or not working at all and was very apparent that they were just "dilly dallying" around. After sitting in the shop patiently waiting for 2.5 hours constantly looking out the window to see if my car was taken in yet after I was told I was next in a few... that just ain't right. Thankfully the owner had to leave and his wife took over. After about another hour passing by she noticed me and asked why I was waiting, and then enlightened me that I wouldn't be done for another few hours. For the same price, maybe a bit less you can go to the glass shops in Flushing and have your car windshield replaced in 1 hour, and have it sit for one more hour so the glue stuff they use can set. The thing you should take away from this review most -- is very, very, VERY poor customer management skills. 8 people scheduled at exactly 8:30AM for a windshield replacement.. that's nuts. This place is pretty decently reviewed on Angie's List.. and they do have an enormous amount of business, however I left disappointed. Wasted majority of the day for a very stupid reason. **The window was set what I'd call decently. There aren't any creaking noises which is always a plus, however just make sure you know they do not use OEM glass, and that is how they offer cheap prices. There was some of that black goopy glue on the inside of window. A pain in the butt to get off, and I feel the workers were in a rush after the boss's wife got on their backs. read more

You can count me as a very satisfied customer. Last Friday afternoon, I discovered that my 1998 Subaru Forester had been vandalized and I had no front passenger window. I thought it would be impossible at the late hour to make arrangements to have it fixed, but my wife made phone calls to the insurance company and Competition at 5:00pm on Friday and was told they would make it happen late Monday afternoon. The man they sent called when you said he would and arrived when you said he would. His name is Jose. He is a friendly man who efficiently, skillfully and thoughtfully took apart the door, put in a new window and put things back together. He vacuumed the broken glass I couldn't clean up and even cleaned the new window. It speaks well of a company to have such a good man working for you. Thanks for all your help. read more

I had a positive experience with Competition Glass. I dropped my car off without an appointment to have my rear view mirror re-glued to the windshield. I opted to leave it and pick it up at the end of the day. It was my first time there, and I was pleasantly surprised when I wasn't charged for the service! Competition Glass are excellent. They came out today, which is a Sunday and absolutely unheard of. I expressed my concern of the possibility of rain yesterday and they came out early this morning. They called to let me know they were on their way. They took their time and were very meticulous. When they left, they explained in detail what to do and not do with the new windshield installation and left my car cleaner than it was. All pieces of glass were removed from the interior. I highly recommend this company and would readily use them again. read more

Competition Glass was recommended to me to get my window tints done, so I came down here in good hopes. The owner quoted my hatchback car for around $160 cash (with lifetime warranty), which was a great price as compared to other window tinters I have looked at. Though cash is a little cheaper since it is off the books, I like to keep records so I charged the service which was a little more expensive at $195.52 (2 full windows, 2 small port windows, and rear hatchback window). I chose my % transparency and left my car at the shop for a couple days. I came back and my car was done but with a few bubbles and scratches in the windows. The technician took out the scratches in the tint, squeegeed some of the bubbles out and informed me to wait a few days for the rest of the bubbles to clear out. I waited about a week, and some bubbles were still in my window so I scheduled an appointment to take it back to the shop to have it looked at. The owner, who was a bit rude and insensitive, commented how I came during the pollen season (May-June) which is why there were bubbles in the windows because he was not working in a dust-free environment, and also that no one can do a perfect job on window tints regardless if you are in an open or closed environment. I thought to myself that this was his profession and this is what he specializes in. I argued with him for a couple minutes, asking if he could try to get the bubbles out. He attempted to flatten them out with his fingernail and said there was nothing he could do. He ignored me and walked away. I tried talking to the technician and he also said it is what it is and that they were not going to re-tint the window for some bubbles in the window. I was a bit upset at this point, realizing that they were not going to try to fix the bubbles so I left. Since then, some of the bubbles have gone away, while others still remain, but since the bubbles were so small (each a size of a grain of sand) and were not in significant spots (bottom of driver's window and rear window) where I would be looking out of, I have learned to live with it. In all, the cost of the window tints was cheap but service was a bit disappointing as well as the owner who carried a bit of an attitude. I would have easily gone to another shop and paid a little bit more to get better customer-service and more considerate technicians. I would avoid this shop and try checking out other places. read more

I do a lot of expressway driving with my Pathfinder and I've needed about three windshields over the past 10 years. I've always used Competition Glass to replace the windshield -- they work well with my insurance company, get the job done quickly, and are great with the little details, like making sure that the registration and inspection stickers are taken off cleanly and are put back nice and straight. read more

I have a Jeep Wrangler. My insurance company recommended these guys. I thought it would work because they came to my house to change the windshield. I mean, how complicated can it be? Well, apparently pretty complicated. The windscreen whistled as the car accelerated. I called them back. The next guy told me that the previous guy had done a terrible job and no wonder it whistled. Well, the new one whistled too! Now they say I have to bring it in, which is extremely inconvenient because they are miles away. Their attitude is questionable (no apology when I called to sort this all out, just "well bring it in") and their work is shoddy at best. Use someone else! read more

Competition Glass in Port Washington was great! Had to replace the sunroof glass on my car and the dealership recommended them. Gina was excellent in getting me set up and answering my many calls and keeping me updated as I needed my car ASAP...Had issue getting authorization from insurance, and Augie was so helpful with contactacting them and helping me to fight for the authorization, staying on the phone with me and going back and forth until The authorization was approved!
