After we were finished they offered to take us out for a celebration retirement dinner. They mentioned sushi. I quickly looked on Yelp & found a sushi restaurant named Nami Sushi @ 7344 W Lawerence Ave in Harwood Heights, IL that's rated 4.5 stars in Yelp. Nami Sushi is located in a strip mall on Lawerence Ave. We found that they have a fairly extensive menu of different sushi's. We started out w/several appetizers. The first one & of my favorites was the soft shell crab which was delicious. We also ordered several sushi rolls to be shared w/the table. They came together on one platter. One was an assortment of sashimi on rice. The pieces of sashimi were very skimpy. The other sushi roll was ok. The best appetizer was the soft shell crab deep fried & served w/a dipping sauce. After the appetizers we ordered our dishes. My wife and her friend ordered a chicken teriyaki dinner that came w/miso soup, an artistically arranged salad & chicken teriyaki which was mediocre quality chicken. Sorry to say the chicken wasn't very tender & kind of lacked flavor. My buddy says every time he flies to the Philippines (he's Guatemalan) they stop in either Japan or Korea he orders Tempura Udon in the airport. I ordered the shrimp tempura & vegetable tempura. The quantity was generous but the shrimp tempura batter was lacking. By this I mean good tempura batter/panko is very light, flaky & crispy, this was none of the aforementioned. The batter was heavy & lacked the consistency that shrimp tempura should have. The vegetable tempura was decent. I especially liked the onion & the red pepper as the tempura batter nicely complimented these vegetables. This also came w/miso soup & an artistically presented salad. Overall the restaurant is nice the service was good but sorry to say the food was lacking. For me personally I was disappointed as the Yelp reviews had 4 1/1 stars that I didn't feel were justified.

The employee initially asked if we were doing two transactions, which I had no issue with and understood. However, after I completed the first transaction, she questioned whether I had paid for my orange juice, even though it had already been included in my purchase. She then asked to see my receipt and snatched it out of my hand, which felt very disrespectful. What made the interaction even more upsetting was that she was only paying close attention to us the entire time. There were several other WHITE customers using self-checkout at the same time, and she did not ask to see any of their receipts or question whether they had paid for their items. My sister and I are both young-looking and have a brown appearance, and the clear difference in how we were treated compared to other customers made us feel racially profiled and singled out because of our age and appearance. I understand employees have a job to do and may need to verify purchases, but that should be done fairly and respectfully with all customers. This experience made us feel unwelcome, and I hope management takes this seriously and ensures customers are treated equally going forward.

He then told me, "you people are not welcome here." This was blatant racial profiling. Instead of treating me with respect as a customer, I was humiliated, judged unfairly, and made to feel unwelcome because of my race. I left the store feeling deeply hurt and shocked that this could happen in 2025. No customer should ever be treated this way. For a manager to behave like this makes it even more disturbing. Businesses should be safe, welcoming spaces for everyone, and this type of discrimination cannot be ignored. I am sharing my experience to warn others and to urge corporate to hold this location accountable.

Today, I did not find what I needed so I will have to try again tomorrow. This store has a nice variety of items for the value and it's a "sister" store of TJ's for those who don't know. The store offers self-checkout which is quick and the shelves are pretty well stocked with many different items especially now for the holidays. Update: Went to the Niles location and found the items I needed. Aldi has the best European dark and milk chocolate which are made in Germany, Rainforest Alliance Certified. Milka chocolate is another brand that sometimes you can find at Aldi but other stores like World Market or Fresh Farms store in Chicago has many times from this brand.

Tired of walking the same five aisles at your regular grocery store? This place is the antidote…read more The first thing that hit me walking in was how different everything felt: shelves stocked with items I don't normally see, the kind of variety that makes meal planning fun again instead of routine. If you've ever stood in your usual store wondering why every dish you cook ends up tasting the same, this is where you go to break that cycle. It's a big store, but don't let that intimidate you. I expected to get turned around a few times, but the layout makes sense and everything is easy enough to find. What really stood out was the produce and the fresh sections I walked through. You can tell things are turned over regularly, nothing looked tired or picked over. Now, the honest part. Prices here run about 20% higher than what you'd pay at a typical grocery store. That's the trade-off, and I want to be upfront about it rather than let you find out at checkout. But here's the thing: if that difference doesn't break your budget, this is absolutely worth it. You're not just paying for groceries, you're paying for the chance to discover something you wouldn't have found anywhere else in the neighborhood. So if you're the type who gets a little bored buying the same brands week after week, do yourself a favor and take the detour. Wander the aisles, grab something you don't recognize, and let this place shake up your routine a little. Sometimes the best meals start with a store you didn't expect to fall for.

They have dine-in available, which I found helpful and was grateful for. I was also grateful that they have prepared meal options, including sushi. Anyone looking to cater a party/event, I'll make this really simple for you: CALL ZERO OTTANTUNO!…read moreEverybody knows how stressful hosting an event can be, but the most important issue, and the biggest attraction, is always the FOOD. Zero Ottantuno was phenomenal from top to bottom. They don't just bring you food that was prepared the night before and left to sit or be reheated by yourself, they bring their entire setup to YOU, and make the food fresh for all of your guests. This is something you will definitely not get from your typical caterer. Beyond the fact that this alleviates any stress about having to prepare the food and cleanup afterwards, the food is better than anything I've had in the Chicagoland area. You can genuinely tell the difference in the quality of the food with owner Gianni's expertise behind the oven. Everything is done by hand, the ingredients were completely fresh, and it's all cooked in their custom mobile oven, which is really unique to the whole Zero Ottantuno experience. You don't know how big of a difference this makes until you've tasted it yourself. Lastly I wanted to note how pleasant the service was. Having the staff of Zero Ottantuno cater my event seemed more to me like having additional family join us, just WAY better at making pizza. They made is so easy and comfortable for everyone to order more food, ask questions, and engage in general fun conversation without having to be too formal. This was a huge deal for me and my guests enjoyed their company as much as they enjoyed stuffing themselves with their delicious pizza. All of my guests were full and having fun, which is all I wanted. In short, Zero Ottantuno is delicious, it's simple, it's fresh, it's UNIQUE, and I can promise you it will be a good time. I know my guests are already asking when I'll be having Zero Ottantuno back around... hopefully soon!
