I gave this place a fair shot. I tried it a few times and went back a couple weeks ago to try with a +1. That was the end for me. There's never much of a wait to order here so that part was quick. The mocha we ordered was just straight chocolate milk... zero coffee flavor at all and it was thrown out. And our other drink tasted like way too much (bad) artificial sweetener. I had the Sweet Latte and it was perfectly balanced--not too sweet, with just the right amount of coffee flavor. I also really appreciated that the coffee was served in a porcelain cup; it's a small touch, but it feels special when most places rely on disposables these days. The café has plenty of tables, making it easy to find a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy your drink. Such a cute cafe! It was giving co-op vibes lol, especially with the windows boarded up. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon but definitely a good amount of people coming in. We did still get our drinks fast. I got a strawberry matcha latte and my partner got the cyclops latte (oat milk latte on tap). The cyclops latte was nothing special--the barista said it was a stronger latte but tasted pretty milky. The matcha latte was layered so I was able to taste the matcha first without the strawberry, and it had a strong umami flavor. The strawberry flavor kind of took over when I mixed the drink, so maybe I'll opt for a regular matcha latte next time. This is my first time trying component coffee and I'm blown away by how yummy our drinks are! The workers greeted us and answered any questions we had. The shop has a nice environment but I wouldn't choose to study here, it's more suitable to meet with a friend to catch up. We tried the vanilla iced latte and a vanilla iced matcha latte. The coffee has a deep yet smooth flavor profile that blends amazing with their house-made vanilla syrup. I find that many coffee shops make bitter coffee where it is too overpowering, that is not an issue here. The vanilla iced matcha latte is made with ceremonial grade matcha and it's creamy with a sweet umami flavor. First time trying Component and really enjoyed it! It was pretty busy so it did take a while to place my order, however, once I did my drinks were ready within a few minutes. I really love both Component Coffee locations. The Visalia location has a little bit more of a vibe, but I do like the coziness of this Fresno location. I came here to work on my laptop, and only ordered a cold brew coffee. They do have avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries if you're feeling a little hungry. The coffee was delicious and very smooth. I defiantly ordered a second for the road. This coffee shop is smack dab in the middle of the Tower District and has a front seating area and a back seating area that offers both private booths and a community table. Great for co-working! The parking lot is on the side of the building with only a few spaces. Kudos to Fresno and the Tower District for having some amazing coffee shops. Food & Drink improvements needed. I lived in Visalia, California for 4 & a half years. The component shop there definitely understood the assignment with ambiance & quality. However, this Fresno location is missing the mark. Service was per usual, tower style and to be expected. However, when ordering a Hot Lavender Latte w/ oat milk, I was disappointed with the results... it was in your face, eating a lavender plant.. As you know, lavender syrup used in coffee is artificial so it's really sweet. Too much of anything can crash anything and that's where we are this morning. The lavender is poorly measured with the oat & coffee mixture. Very unfortunate. Temp of coffee is decent and comfortable . Bread is dry & a bit too warmed (stiff ends). Not sure if I'll consider this spot in Tower, again. read more

This place definitely got a facelift from its last business. I got an iced coffee with oat milk and one pump of vanilla sweetener. My coffee costed about $5-6. The smallest size was 16 oz which is pretty big for me, lol. It was standard and did the job. Don't think I could rave about it but I'm also not a coffee connoisseur. I like my coffee simple. I came in the morning and worked. There was plenty of seating and outlets for working in the back room. I moved a couple times to get comfortable. The seats are stiff and wasn't super comfy for working on my laptop. It does the job tho! The music was a bit too loud for my taste since I was in the back room trying to get some work done. Service was friendly and great. The employee was patient and kind and gave me her recommendations. I'm so glad I came out to finally check this spot out. I've been obsessed with component's speciality drink: ORANGE BLOSSOM LATTE with oat milk you can taste the orange and a little floral taste but nothing too strong. The employees are super nice and friendly. They have pastries now woohoo. I'm happy component was able to continue the coffee in tower after the revue closed. Super excited to see what component brings! I always wanted to drive to their Visalia location just to get some matcha and their breakfast. I hope they start doing breakfast in this location. The blueberry cream cheese danish was very good, a little sweet but most danish are like that. It's the perfect place to go get some coffee and chill with people. So so yummy! I believe this is just a drink for the month of May, but I would love if this was a permanent addition TO the menu. 〰 Coco Mocha: My boyfriend got the coco mocha and he liked it! If you like coconut, this drink is for you! It has the same essence of an almond joy (chocolate and coconut). 〰 Strawberry Matcha Lemonade: I could not help myself and since I liked the regular strawberry matcha latte so much, I decided to try the lemonade! This drink was so refreshing and is great if you're feeling a lighter drink. It's summer in a drink! 〰 Espresso Tonic: My boyfriend also got a second drink and he got the espresso tonic, it is definitely an acquired taste! 12/16/23 Getting breakfast for tomorrow! Two small lavender lattes with almond milk, Sticky Fingers and hipster toast with an egg ordered. This was after a small wait in line. Very nice, low key coffee shop. Calm music playing. Seating in the front and back with a lounge area and booths. After ordering, paid and waited on the side where they have a long bench. The worker that took order wasn't really welcoming, but still kind. Order called shortly later. The worker was very kind and happy to bag it and provide a cup holder. Appreciated! 12/17/23 Happy Sunday everyone! Lavender latte was really good! Sticky bun 1/2 half was good. Brown bananas, but it did have tasty PB & cocoa nips to add more flavor! Hipster Toast 1/2 with egg half was just not fresh since I got it yesterday. Brown sprouts and avocado, but still had good flavor with the egg, tomatoes, etc. Definitely more of an eat the day you get food. Doesn't stay fresh. Plus, you only get 1 slice per order. Normally places give 2 slices for 1 order. Not really worth it. On the bright side, the service was really good at the end and the Lavender latte with almond milk was really good! The following review is for a very niche audience. I've decided to use a new metric for this that goes along the lines of "HFOT99FITBW" which is basically "How far off the 99 for it to be worth". It's been a hot minute since I've made the drive to Modesto from LA and on a recent trip I found myself looking for a good cup of coffee and a place to rest and recharge. I decided on breaking early in Fresno and after an intense one minute search I settled on Component. Not too far off the freeway, and they roast their own beans, let's do it. On the HFOT99FITBW scale, this is a 5 star. About a mile and a half off the 99 with quick access to get back on the road. Good vibes, friendly staff, clean bathroom, and most importantly great coffee. Decided to splurge on a pour over and it was worth. Their beans (grabbed a bag) are also reasonably priced and what resonated with me most was the intergenerational and multiethnic crowd they had on a random Thursday afternoon. Can't wait to come back again. read more

I'd been looking forward to a quality coffee space to fill this legendary coffee space in Tower since the closure of my beloved... whatever was there before Hi-Top (it's been years, man, give a geriatric brother a break). So Component was a yummy joint in Visalia that I am glad tricked it's way to Fresno. First off, the parking somehow got worse. Before it was cramped but functional, but now you will find cargo trucks, trailers, and other larger than pickup vehicles blocking all exits, leaving only entrances available. So you will have to hope rearview mirrors don't miss as people are attempting to exit the entrance driveway. Secondly, the physical spacing within the establishment leaves a lot to be desired. From patrons sitting with chairs to walkway spaces, to the right line to order, to the tightest space of all, the pickup counter, which quintuples as an employee entrance exit, guest entrance, access to the rear booths, and the sweetener/stir stick bar. Now to the coffee. The iced Oatmilk Aztec mocha was delectable. Loved the intensity of the roast. Enjoyed the darkness of the chocolate and strength of the cinnamon. On the other hand, my wife stated her hot Americano was weak. So we chalked it up to a break even. The customer service was wonderful. The art was lovely and eclectic. But the positives do not outweigh the difficult negatives upon our experience. Some serious zoning needs to be considered in making this location more functional and user friendly. Our exiting the parking lot was met with the aforementioned 3 exits being block. A semi truck, a trailer, and a truck bed. Leaving us to exit the entrance. That, in itself freaked us out that our car could have very well been met by another head on vehicle. Close call, indeed. read more

Great coffee, the Mexican mocha is very sweet and bitter. I like to stop by here from time to time when I am in tower. A great spot to work for a bit, but note that it is quite hard to find a spot once it is busy, as fellow customers will stay for hours as well. So, it's best to get there early. read more

I was very excited when I heard that component was taking over for The Review as they have been one of my favorite coffee shops in the central valley. I have a monthly service where I get whole beans delivered to my house but I love going down to the tower location and getting a nice fresh cup of coffee and a monthly rotating pastry. The service is always quick even when it's busy and the Ambiance is very nice and pleasant. Seriously if you love coffee this place is a must stop! read more

This was a challenging review to write. Our drinks and food (Lo-Fi Beets toast and Hipster toast) were tasty (4/5). The service was efficient but not welcoming (3/5); though they did appear to be friendlier with the regulars. But the low point was the uncleanliness. The floors looked like they had not seen a mop in months and at 9:30am, they looked like they still had crumbs from the day before. We had to wipe down our own table and in the 2 hours I was there, not once did I see staff come out to clean. With enough good and clean local coffee shops to choose from, I won't be adding Component Coffee to my rotation. read more

I ordered a hot Mocha and a GF Banana Nut Muffin. The GF Banana Nut Muffin was pretty good as far as the flavor goes, but they tried "heating" it and it had and warm outside with the rest of it being pretty cold. The Mocha on the hand was absolutely awful. It literally tasted like they scooped some unsweetened Hershey's baking cocoa into my cup and just added some hot water. I took one drink and couldn't force myself to take another. It was the worst mocha that I've ever been served at any coffee shop. The gas station coffee machines taste better. I'll definitely never be going back and I would not recommend anyone reading to try it out. There's plenty of other quality coffee shops around Fresno to choose from. read more
