Sanctuary Coffee Shop is on another level. The coffee is always incredibly fresh, full of flavor, and amazingly smooth with no bitterness and very low acidity. It is dangerously easy to enjoy cup after cup... You can tell they really care about the quality and flavor of their fresh roasted beans. Everything tastes clean and balanced, and brewing a few cups has become a daily ritual in our house. Being able to walk over from home and grab freshly roasted beans is not only convenient, it makes me feel good about supporting local. If you love great coffee, this place is a must read more

The 2 stars is simply for the aesthetics, location, & kids corner that my son loves. If you are coming here strictly for a good coffee or matcha do not expect to receive either. I tried to order something different, but the barista told me she didn't know how to make it even though it was on their menu board as soon as you walk in. Gave the place another shot & tried an iced latte with lavender & oat milk. Zero flavor of lavender & tasted like water that had been soaked in coffee beans. This place is so good!! I love coming here! When you walk in, it's warm and cozy and offers plenty of comfy seating options. There's also a children's area so if you need to get work done, you can bring your kids and watch them from the sofa! The service is excellent! I've always been greeted with a friendly hello and when asking for recommendations, they are always ready to do so. Their pastries, namely the spinach and feta croissant, are delicious! Super fluffy and flaky. I do wish there was a bit more filling to the croissant, but it is still yummy nonetheless. My favorite drink from there is probably the salted caramel mocha! This was my first time trying sanctuary coffee shop and I'm amazed by the service, ambiance, and quality in coffee. It is located on the side of Northwest Church with a large parking lot. The shop is spacious with a TV playing Christmas jazz emphasizing the coziness of the shop. There were family's socializing and students studying. There was enough space where both parties could enjoy the ambiance without distracting each other which is a plus for me! I noticed some delicious looking pastries that I have yet to try. I ordered a large vanilla iced latte that came out to $6.44 which is amazing for the taste in quality. The latte is on the richer yet smoother end, emphasizing on the quality of the beans. Ive been meaning to try this place since it has always come up on my search for new coffee shops to try. Admittedly what kept me away was the fact that it is a religious cafe located on church property. With fear of being judged/ approached with pamphlets, I still decided to go on in anyways. My love for coffee shops is greater than my fears lol. To my surprise, none of that sort of thing happened. I was treated kindly and didn't feel judged at all! The space was large and welcoming with serene classical music playing (not religious music). Also this place has the same owners as Cracked pepper bistro! So if you are ever craving their bread pudding and want more of a grab and go, you can do that here! They also source their other pastries from cultured bake house, YUM! Their drink menu is expansive, there is something for everyone! As for what I ordered: - Iced oat milk vanilla latte (7.5/10) - Decent sized late coming in at about $6 - Butter croissant (9/10) - Huge! Buttery! Delicious! From cultured bakehouse. Met with friends on a Tuesday morning. This quiet coffee shop's parent perk is a kids' activity room. A kind, excellent barista answered my odd questions and made me a spot on drink recommendation. Somethings changed in their formula. You can tell before your first sip with their change in to-go cups. But it's not as good as we remembered. The latte has a new bitterness that is almost inviting of some form of artificial flavoring. The iced mocha was... chocolate milk, somehow?! We are really saddened to post this review with where the world has gotten to with supply chain difficulties, but transparency being a necessity, we may not have a reason to return after the last abysmal experience. There is more technique when it comes brewing a good cup of coffee. I saw quite a lot of red flags as I brew coffee myself with a dual boiler machine. The milk was burned...as I watching the barista the leave the pitcher with the flute in and unattended. Recommendations: Milk froth is about getting a good consistency and understanding how to properly aerate your milk without burning it. Temperature can be monitored by using touch. As a barista myself, its good technique to open up the senses: see, touch and hear. If you hear the flute screaming for more than 15 seconds, its a sign that its been aerated for too long and the milk is already burned. Milk texture can be determined by swinging your pitcher and checking to see if it looks like paint. Do not leave the pitcher unattended while its being frothed! Take control of the pitcher....barista need to bless their coffee with respect. Baked Goods: They had quite a large variety of baked goods. We had the buttered croissants and chocolat. It was absolutepy delicious. Environment: Its nice and spacious with plenty of seating. Overall: As a barista and coffee roaster myself, its good to develop good habits and technique to ensure a good cup of coffee is brewed with every cup. Do not take shortcuts. Machines don't always do all the work. =] practice makes perfect! read more

I choose to sit in the shade under one of the big trees in the little park. This is such a sneaky cute coffee shop! To be honest, I wasn't super excited about visiting a coffee shop that's inside of a church because I didn't want to be presented with any recruitment info while trying to work, but that wasn't the case here at all! The staff here is super inviting and beyond coffee they offer an array of sweet and savory pastries that are a perfect nosh to pair with your drink. I didn't get any food, but I went with a cold brew with a splash of almond milk. They have, Americanos, iced coffee, lattes, drip coffee; pretty much everything you expect a coffee shop to have. There are a ton of places to sit along with a semi-private area for groups, comfy couches, and an outdoor patio area. I was surprised with how many tables and chairs they had. I thought it would be busier because it was a Sunday. I sat and read for a while. So I had some "me" time today and was looking for a quiet place I could sit and write. I drove down Barstow and noticed Sanctuary. I'm thankful they were open! It's a coffee shop that is on the North West church campus. There is plenty of parking. I like that this place is situated in a mainly residential area so it's pretty quiet. I like that it's at a church because it personally makes me feel safe. When I walked in the ambiance put me at ease. The cafe music they had playing was loud enough to hear and quiet enough to hear the person next to you. The barista who took my order was really sweet. They do have options for sugar free syrups like caramel and vanilla. I ordered a cold brew, breve with sf caramel. There is ample seating you guys. The hard part is choosing which comfy chair you're going to pick. They have low seating, bar seating and even couches. The decor is just dreamy and the lighting is perfect. You can't see the traffic outside so you're not bothered or distracted by what's going on outside. It is the perfect place to study and write or meet with a friend for an intimate conversation. They do have pastry's available as well. The bathrooms are clean, everything is clean! The cold brew I ordered was so tasty and lightly sweet which is perfect in my taste. I love the cup it came in too because I can probably reuse it a few times more. Overall it's a perfect spot if you're in the area to take a load off. Sanctuary Coffee is a literal sanctuary! I went in on a quiet Saturday morning. Plenty of seating and lots of parking. It's attached to a church, but it's easy to find. This was such a little hidden gem to come across! I was searching for a new coffee place to study at, and the pastries for this one really caught my eye. They had all the coffee classics that you would expect at other places, but I especially loved unique their Specialty drinks were. I got their Cardamom & Saffron Latte, and it had the perfect blend of spice and coffee. You could really tell they used real, while spices in their drinks! The space was nice and a great place to sit and chat or do your work, but both our coffees tasted very "strong" and I'm normally a dark coffee drinker. But my latte as well as other drink just didn't taste right, not sure if the barista was making the drinks correctly or knowledgeable on how to pull the shots. They were just not smooth or enjoyable. I'm unsure of her name, but the sweet girl with the dark hair ( I see her all the time when I'm here ) always handles a super busy rush all by herself with such grace! A friend told me about Sanctuary Coffee shop & how she loves to study here, so I had to check it out. Parking was plentiful because it's located at a church. Upon entering, the staff was so friendly! I asked for suggestions and the barista gave me an Iced Salted Caramel, which was the sweet drink I was hoping for. Also, can we talk about the QUALITY of the cup?? Thick, sturdy plastic and a cap that closes-- this was such a cute little detail but it stuck out to me. Interior is clean, spacious, has lots of live (and healthy) plants, and large windows provide lots of natural light! It's not busy nor loud and I was here from 9AM-2PM. I came on a Sunday, so the TV had sermons playing. It was nice to see people coming in and watching while they grabbed coffee. :) My main concern when trying out new coffee shops is if they'll have outlets. I added a picture--there were a good amount of outlets along the wall with the pew chairs. Also going back to interior, but it's so cute how these long chairs were incorporated into the design of the coffee shop! There's always something with churches in Fresno having great quality coffee shops. Located off to the side of Northwest Church, you can't miss it! There is plenty of parking space even on its busiest days (usually Sunday, obviously). Been going here for about a year and they are just so consistent. The inside is HUUUGE you just wouldn't expect it. Plenty of seating and wiggle room so you don't feel cramped regardless of how many people you're with. I find it cool that they use refurbished pews as seating. The cozy environment is amplified as they play smooth jazz or pop music. The service is super friendly and are always open to casual conversations or reccomendations on drinks. My first time there they recommended a honey and cinnamon latte and I've ordered it every time I've been to this day! They also offer a wide range of artisan pastries that you should definitely try out. Perfect place to study or catch up with friends. They open early and close pretty late for a coffee shop in this area (5pm). read more

really cute & cozy cafe in fresno next to a church! we came on a saturday morning and there was a car meet event outside in the parking lot, they even had a shaved ice truck too! the interior is big and there are plenty of tables, honestly a really good place to study. they have yummy pastries on display and seasonal lattes! we opted for their vanilla rosemary latte and salted caramel mocha. both were delicious, though could be sweeter. i didn't taste much vanilla or rosemary, but the salted caramel mocha was awesome. the BEST part however, were their pastries. their cardamom bun is AMAZING! they warm it up for you, and it is so perfectly sweet & fluffy. i think the cardamom flavor is really unique too. the salted caramel bun was also sooo delicious. it had a sort of crispy sweet crust on the outside of caramelized sugar, and when paired with the flaky layers of pastry, was literally one of the best pastries i've ever had. the service was super friendly and fast, i'll definitely be back if i'm ever in the area! read more
