I decided to stop by and order an iced raspberry matcha latte, which was $7 before tip. It was done within 2 minutes, and the raspberry part was very sweet and fruity. The matcha itself is decently strong too but make sure you mix it if you want the flavor to be even throughout, or alternately you could drink it from the top to gradually go from a strong matcha flavor down to a dairy and sweet finish at the bottom. Came here on a Saturday morning and the line was long and out the door and the place itself is pretty loud and cramped inside, so I grabbed my drink to go. I ordered a latte with oat milk and added the peppermint syrup from their holiday menu, and easily one of the best lattes I've had. What really made it work was how subtle the peppermint was. It wasn't sweet or candy cane like at all but more herbal. And despite all the chaos, the baristas were super friendly. The person taking my order was especially helpful and patient. This was the perfect drink for a cold SF morning and a long walk afterward. Worth the line for me, at least for that peppermint latte. read more

It's been over four years since I last tried Compton's Coffee House, and frankly I had forgotten that I'd been here before until I saw my own review upon checking in. Despite this passage of time, my latest visit was just as good as the first time (based on my previous review!) My partner and I both decided to get flat whites. Both came out at the perfect temperature - hot but not tongue-scalding. The espresso was *strong*, and the steamed milk had the perfect creamy mouthfeel, with an extra bonus of pretty art. It was quite busy when we stopped by shortly before lunchtime on a Saturday. There was a line out the door, but it moved quickly; it took a bit longer to get our drinks, but understandable given their popularity. The staff we interacted with were all lovely. I wish I lived closer to Compton's so I could go more often! Next time I return, hopefully it'll be much sooner than four years. read more

I love the location of this one, I have found it tough to work from here because space and seats are a bit limited and they do get taken pretty quickly... but it's great to stop, grab a drink and stroll fillmore. Visited San Francisco for my birthday weekend and I wanted to try ALLL the Coffee shops!! So many options in the city I was overwhelmed by which one to pick for the day. I asked the girl taking my order what she recommended and we decided on the Raspberry Matcha since that was the reason I wanted to go there in the first place LOL. She was the most friendliest staff I have ever come across! It felt like we became friends at the moment!! She also let me know that if I didn't like my drink we could trade it out. Of course I tried my drink and did NOT want to trade it out... it was soooo yummy!! Even though the shop was pretty busy she still made the time to double check and make sure I liked my drink. EXTRA POINTS!! The space is small but super cute! I wouldn't recommend working here but a great space for pick up or to grab coffee with a friend! Compton's on Fillmore is one of my go-to coffee stops. This joint is snug and absolutely charming. They have my favorite seasonal lattes. In the summer, I opt for an iced touch of grey latte, their take on like an iced london fog. It's creamy, has the lovely earl grey aroma, and is not overly sweet. In the winter, I go for the maple cinnamon latte. It tastes like cinnamon toast crunch milk in the best way possible. The most perfect treat and I wish they carried it all year round, it is that good. The rest of the year, I'll settle (wink, wink) with a classic vanilla latte or just black iced coffee. I'll always add extra ice to all my drinks because they usually go pretty light on ice, which is loved by most! but I just prefer more. They do everything so well and the staff is always super friendly, even when there is a line out the door! Weekdays are easy, quick in and out. There are always a bunch of people working or catching up, so it's typically always lively in there. Fridays and weekends, you can expect a a crowd and lengthy line. Unfortunately, this matcha was a miss for me the iced matcha latte tasted so watery and bland. I tried to add honey to sweeten it, but it only made it slightly better. The raspberry matcha latte was definitely better than the normal matcha latte, but it was sooo raspberry forward, it just tasted over sweet and like drinking straight raspberry flavored syrup. I am so, so appreciative of the staff for working on Thanksgiving Day, and I am glad they closed early and could hopefully spend time with loved ones. My friend and I dropped by Compton's Coffee House for caffeine and to warm up. The shop is quite small but due to the holiday, there weren't many people inside. I got the raspberry matcha and it came out quickly. The matcha was a gorgeous green, and did not taste bitter. The raspberry syrup was a bit of a letdown to me as it tasted more candy-like than I had expected and overpowered the matcha. While I did like the raspberry matcha as an overall drink, next time I will likely order a plain matcha latte to better taste the tea. read more

There's wifi, but because of how packed and loud it is, I can't imagine doing work here, at least on the weekends. While waiting to eat at Woodhouse Fish Co. right next door, we sipped on the lavender latte and the Touch of Grey, a special spring latte with house made earl grey syrup. Both drinks were yummy but tasted pretty similar. I was searching for the earl grey flavor and couldn't really find it, so I wish I got their elderflower spritz with espresso, lemonade, and elderflower syrup instead. I enjoyed the drinks, but since this coffeeshop is out of the way for me, I'd probably only get Compton's again if I was in the area. read more

As I waited in line, I saw many people order their matcha so I ordered a regular iced matcha latte since it seemed popular. Unfortunately, it was very bland and milky. Usually a FIVE STAR experience, but this time it was meh. So, I decided to use this as my coffee spot for my Friday morning zoom class. I arrive 30 minutes early to find a table. There was a table available and I placed my things down while I was ordering. A young woman tapped my shoulder and told me that was her table. I looked over and she had her things on one table already. She said she needed both. I told her that I was sorry, but I saw no items on the table and my things were on there and I needed to prepare for my class. Let me tell you, I was a little disappointed in the staff that might have seen her get angry, stand up, and star to cause a ruckus. At least four customer turned over to look and I decided to not ruin my morning, make it hard on the employees, or make anyone uncomfortable so I kindly told her that it is generally a good rule of etiquette that you reserve a table by placing an item on it, and she did not, but that I will be moving to the bar. She went off telling me to move that the bar was open when I was already heading that way (she was also rolling her eyes and sighing pretty loud). Again, I decided to be the bigger person, did not want to cause any sort of scene but I certainly believe that I rightfully claimed the table to use for my school work. I let an employee know, when I was picking up my drink, of the occurrence and they just said "oh." Did I expect them to move her? Maybe not. I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly more than an "oh." Anyway, she got some looks from other patrons and she left. In the end I got the table (after an hour) but I think it is good habit for employees to be mediators and maintain a good cafe ambiance. I know this cafe can do this as later in the day, they made sure to correct a patron and let them know that the outside chairs could not be inside for accessibility issues. Great, totally fine. Now getting to my drink, I ordered a doubled iced oat milk matcha (always bring my own cup). I usually love it this way but the matcha here was eh alone. I asked to pay the difference for some raspberry sauce but the cashier said it was not necessary, she will put some. This CERTAINLY salvaged my experience here. It's always the little things. I overall still recommend this place and I am fully aware it is generally not the employee's or the establishment's fault for the conduct of patrons, but they could certainly be more involved in case of discussions. I am proud though that I deescalated the situation. read more

Met up with some friends here for a quick 2pm pick-me-up on Friday and it was packed with people. This shop is located on a busy street so it gets a lot of foot traffic. It's a small shop so all the tables already had the remote workers posted up on them. Luckily, Alta Park is a short walk away! I got the Honey Rose Latte off of their seasonal menu and unfortunately, it came out more bitter than I had expected contrary to its name.
