Feeling adventurous so ordered coffee from Delah for delivery. Process was quick and smooth. A lot of interesting latte flavors and specialties to choose from but ended up with iced Yemeni latte and rose latte as well as some milk cakes. Didn't realize the rose latte would come as a hot drink but it was still good. Opted for less sweet but was a little more sweet than expected compared to the Yemeni latte. Yemeni coffee was light and subtle with cinnamon. Milk cake was moist and not too sweet - texture reminds me of a les tres cake. Rose and saffron flavors were perfect and not too overpowering Turkish coffee is not bitter or too strong. My friend and I were catching up after a long drought and chose to meet up at Delah because it was so we'll rated. It's located at the filthy corner of 4th and Clara, which made the outside smell of urine. Fortunately the cafe itself is pretty clean, which is a nice escape from the street. I ordered an Americano and my friend got one of their $8+ lattes, which were fine, but nothing special. My biggest gripe was the service and absolute scorn of the customer. My friend and I sat at the counter basically in a staring contest with the woman behind the counter, who just stared right back. After some 30 seconds, we finally flagging her down to place our order. After turning around the drinks suspiciously quickly, my friend and I sat down to catch-up in the empty cafe. Before long, the barista pumps up the volume, increasing higher and higher every 5 minutes or so, as if to signal to us that our time was up. I asked her to turn down the volume, which she tuned down from an 11 to a 7, but minutes later it continued to creep up, like the snooze setting of an alarm clock coaxing you to wake up - except in this case, to get out. Ultimately, the volume got unbearable and we finally threw in the towel and got out of there to let the barista enjoy her music. Came here with a friend to try out a new cafe to work in! We came around 5pm on a Monday, and it was so crowded and busy that we were barely able to find a seat and table to sit at. Middle Eastern style coffee shops seem to be cropping up everywhere in SF downtown. We came to Delah Coffee because we are seeking flavors beyond the ordinary. For this particular visit we came specifically for the Adeni Chai. I have to say the Adeni Chai is one of the most flavorful chai I have tried this year. Most chai are weak and have too much cream. Here the chai is rich in flavor with just a hint of cardamon, and not too much cream. I was surprised when the barista asked how much sugar I wanted. I requested for slight sugar and was glad my chai was not too sweet. I ordered the 16 oz size and it came in a big black mug. The portion was large enough to be shared by my wife and I, and we found this to be a great value. Delah Coffee also have a good selection of Turkish sweets but we did not try any in this visit. I tried the spinach and cheese börek. It was tasty, but the price is too high for the portion size. Paying $7.50 for such a small börek doesn't seem reasonable. I think a fair price would be around $5 to $5.50. I don't understand why they don't put price labels on the items in the display case. I noticed another café in Fremont that has the same concept--Arabic coffee and Arabic food. The name is different, but everything else is very similar. They don't display prices either. Maybe they have a menu board behind the counter, but customers should be able to see the prices on the items in the display case. This place is great! I've been loving seeing the rise of Middle Eastern coffee places lately. Very crowded and busy when I got there at noon because it seems to be a popular meeting spot for social and business matters. My friend and I actually then ended up taking our order to go because it was too noisy. I got the Adeni Chai with less sweetness as well as the Zataar Bee Bites. Both came out within 5 minutes, which was impressive considering the busyness of the shop. The line kept rotating through, definitely no shortage of customers here. We also got a box of Baklava to share. Adeni Chai: 4/5, well-spiced and warm! A little thin for my taste but I loved the blend of spices. Zataar Bee Bites: 5/5, fantastic savory option! There's cheese in each of the bites which was fantastic. Such a fluffy bread with a great flavor combination and balance. Baklava: 5/5, deliciously dense with nuts and flaky dough. The honey oozes out for sticky hands, but it's so worth it. Even as someone who doesn't drink coffee, I thought this place was a real hit. This is a great spot to work from! The iced yemeni latte w/ honey was ~$9 after tax & tip. It was great but definitely pricey for a 16 ounce latte. The spices in the latte reminded me of a chai, it was very refreshing & the perfect amount of sweetness!
