Visiting Saratoga and you have to stop at Compton's. They were busy but still were able to seat my party of 7 super quick. Our orders were taken swiftly and our drinks and food came out fast. Classic American diner food kind of like a hole in the wall but everyone is friendly. read more

Nice little old-time main-street cafe. Probably been there since the days of Man of War, or SeaBiscuit. |It's pretty good, in all respects, but pretty good is pretty good, and not really outstanding. There are better places of breakfast in the area, IMO. read more

Definitely hits the spot for Sunday brunch. Its a pretty straightforward diner experience. They didn't have a long wait time like every other breakfast spot(even the doughnut shop had a line). It was nice to be seated quickly and have our food come out fast. Definitely don't go hungry there. read more

I love breakfast/lunch spots like this. They open early and close early afternoon. The menu has all the breakfast classics that would rival your local diner. The prices are very reasonable and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I went with the chicken salad sandwich and ordered corned beef hash side. The chicken salad had large chunks of chicken and just the right amount of mayo. Great flavor too. My wife had the tuna melt with macaroni salad and loved it. This is an old school down spot that serves good ole comfort food. Btw the benches are old school rollerskating rink/arcade benches. It gets packed so I would make sure to get here early. The people get in and out pretty quickly so you shouldn't wait long. It probably isn't the best for big groups though since it is small. Awesome place overall. read more

Good and service is always best , the other day I ordered my food first , went to ATM and realized I had reach my max withdrawal for that day.. As I went to cancel my order and let the waitress know, she then went to the back and spoke to the cook and return and said it's ok the food is free .. I was shocked ... I even said I would come back again and pay for it , she said that's ok and don't worry about it .. few days later I came in and order my meal , and when time to pay came , I reminded her who I was and that I wanted to pay for my order from the other day and she said no sir , it's ok and wouldn't accept it .. I said ok thank you .. and I made sure to tip her decently.. such a great place read more

We visited on Columbus Day and were seated without a wait! There is a pretty steep step to navigate getting up into the building and parking is a bit challenging on the street, which is very busy. Compton's offers a great classic, old fashioned breakfast and we were stunned by how fast the service was! I asked for a hard boiled egg, which they weren't able to accommodate but my breakfast sandwich was smothered in bacon and cheddar cheese on an English muffin with a side of hash browns. My son ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon. My son quickly proclaimed it was his BEST breakfast ever! We'd definitely visit again. read more

Compton's Restaurant is a good choice for a reliable, predictable breakfast that will fill you up without emptying your wallet. Eggs, hash browns, toast, pancakes, milk, juice, coffee , tea - all the standard breakfast fare - are served up quickly by waitresses who know how to hustle. The place is neat and clean without being fancy. Compton's sits right downtown on the main business street and it's easy to find. We arrived fairly late in the morning, 10:30 or thereabouts, but even so the place was just packed. EVERYONE - teenagers, college students, tourists, retirees, local business people, families with little kids - eats at Compton's and... THAT SAYS IT ALL! read more

Cash only, but there is an atm available in the restaurant. This place is a mainstay of the Saratoga area. Seated immediately around 8am on a Monday morning. We walked from our hotel, so I can't speak to parking. Huge portions. I got the broccoli cheddar omelet with home fries and toast. Good strong coffee. Efficient service. About $40 for 3 people with drinks for breakfast. We made multiple meals out of it. read more

I love Eggs Benedict. Over the years, this once "fancy" breakfast has been mainstreamed by hash slingers using powdered bland hollindaise, ham and eggs sunny side up or even worse - Oh my God - over easy! I'm not sure you can imagine just how frustrating it can get when you've had 5 star over-priced fancy-schmancy restaurants destroy a very specific breakfast that your Mom and Dad would meticulously put together for you as long as you could remember on late Sunday mornings - or maybe you can. It's a divine relic of Saratoga. A no frills time warp nook in a town full of overdressed uppity pseudo-sophisticates.....Compton's has the eggs and their bacon is not wilty-limp...and the coffee is strong and smooth. I'm not a breakfast person, but I do an annual pilgrimage here... support these folks. The Jersification of Saratoga Springs has turned it into Morristown/Great Neck/and Uniondale all mixed together. This place seems so out of place for Broadway in Saratoga and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Lots of history here as it's been around a long, long time and if you want a staple breakfast or lunch anytime, then this could be a good place for you. Definitely no frills here and the main seating area shows it's age. Service is fast and friendly and the food made to order and served hot! Prices are reasonable for Saratoga Broadway, though would be a bit high based on the interior decor if you were to eat at the same place outside of town. Strange hours kept here and that's awesome for the Skidmore late nighters or those that like to eat at 3 or 4 in the morning. Coffee is a 1.75 and most breakfast sandwiches run about 4 to 5 bucks per. No WiFi (I don't understand how any restaurant doesn't have it anymore). Ordered my eggs over medium and of course they were served over easy. Almost nobody can get fried eggs right at the over medium, but I always try! Toast was soggy with tons of butter, but I did like the sausage patties. My meal of coffee, 2 eggs, sausage patties, and toast ran me near 8 bucks without tip. Cash only here; no credit cards accepted and you pay at the register, not at your table. read more

Wow. . . . in town for a wedding and wanted to grab an early breakfast. The food, the service and the place were a real find. Great service, great food and a fascinating place. I love the walk up coffee and take out window on the sidewalk and the Compton's coddle cups are awesome. A real find! read more

John Compton and his family opened in May of 1983. In February of 2016 John retired at the age of 84. Two of John's daughters and one son in law partnered up and bought the business.

Meet the Business Owner: william M.

Bill started working at Compton's at the age of 12 as a dishwasher. After 20+ years of doing different jobs at the restaurant he was given the chance to be one of the partners to buy the business. He still works there hands on as one of the main cooks.

We walked here from our hotel (Hilton) as parking anywhere/everywhere in Saratoga can be a challenge. There is street parking right in front of Sweet Mimi's but it'll probably be taken so you should probably just walk. And you'll appreciate the walk to help burn off a few calories of Sweet Mimi's delicious offerings. (And there are plenty to partake in.) The omelette actually came with the same challah bread that the french toast was made from. If I lived closer, I'd be buying that challah bread every week. It's so freakin' good! The french toast is HUGE! Really... you should share it. The several bites I took were incredibly satisfying. The cinnamon was just right. And because it was already sweet... we opted to forgo the syrup. The french toast also came with a bunch of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries!! Everything was good--the eggs leaned more toward over easy--but the real standout was the grits. They were done exactly right: not runny, not stiff, just perfectly creamy. This is the first place north of Virginia I've found that actually gets grits right. The staff was friendly, and the coffee was solid. I didn't notice a restroom, which was a little odd, but the place is small, so it might just be tucked in the back. Overall, definitely worth a visit.
