Visiting Saratoga and you have to stop at Compton's. They were busy but still were able to seat my party of 7 super quick. Our orders were taken swiftly and our drinks and food came out fast. Classic American diner food kind of like a hole in the wall but everyone is friendly.

Classic Diner feel! Love it, the people and the food are always amazing, the service is always fast, never had a bad serving here before. It's a local favorite, a little small so expect a wait during breakfast rushes. They do grilled muffins here and if you don't know what that is I recommend you try one!

Old school breakfast! Very simple flavors. Traditional scrambled egg, toast and home fries. Sweet staff! Quick and fresh!

The best diner. Excellent food, service, location. Comptons never disappoints. Fantastic breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg and cheese), Eggs Benedict, Pancakes, everything!

A favorite place to visit anytime before they close for the day. Staff is great and food is freshly prepared. The decor hasn't changed for ages and that's the best part. Naturally retro. Cash only but there is an ATM conveniently located IN the restaurant. :-)

Chocolate chip pancakes and scrambled egg! I love Comptons.

Compton's is by far the best place to get breakfast. Their pancakes are my favorite pancakes in the world and the corn beef hash is my husband's favorite! It's a small quaint place, and the service is great! I highly recommend Compton's!

I love breakfast/lunch spots like this. They open early and close early afternoon. The menu has all the breakfast classics that would rival your local diner. The prices are very reasonable and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I went with the chicken salad sandwich and ordered corned beef hash side. The chicken salad had large chunks of chicken and just the right amount of mayo. Great flavor too. My wife had the tuna melt with macaroni salad and loved it. This is an old school down spot that serves good ole comfort food. Btw the benches are old school rollerskating rink/arcade benches. It gets packed so I would make sure to get here early. The people get in and out pretty quickly so you shouldn't wait long. It probably isn't the best for big groups though since it is small. Awesome place overall.

I'd come back just for the rolls, they were so soft, fluffy, and light with the perfect flaky salt on top to balance with the whipped honey butter. Delicious! Everything else was also great, the hanger steak is also tender and loved the hash that came with it and the crab spaghetti had ample crab meat in it. Presentation was gorgeous. Love the seasonal menus and you really can't go wrong with anything here. We skipped out on dessert but I'm sure there's great options too. Highly recommend and hope to be back!

My better half had a Cosmopolitan, which she enjoyed. Started with the charcuterie board (You choose a total of five meats and cheeses). For cheese we selected Burrata (cream filled mozzarella), Drunken Goat (goat / red wine dipped) and Parmigiano (cow / the real thing). The meats were Serrano Ham (dry cured Spanish ham) and Speck Ham (dry cured and lightly smoked Italian ham). OMG. Delicious. And the portions were on the hearty size. For a main I had the Mussels (garlic, butter, white wine, chili and fennel pollen). Another OMG. It was divine, and we had bread to soak up that wonderful sauce. We also had the Lobster Pizza (lobster, tomato cream, spinach, leeks, roasted cherry tomatoes, ricotta and grana padano). This was only ok. Not enough lobster, in my opinion. Overall, a very good meal before the concert.

The remaining slices were essentially on the darker side of well-done, almost burnt ends. For a restaurant positioned as an upscale dining destination on Broadway in Saratoga Springs, I expected much better. The quality of the steak was more in line with what I'd expect from a chain like Applebee's than a higher-end establishment. The service started out excellent, but unfortunately declined as the meal went on. By the end of the evening, we felt largely forgotten.

I requested to sit at the chef's table because I really do like to see what's going on in the kitchen and our reservation is at 7:15 and we arrived a half hour early and we're able to be sat so that was nice. We were greeted by one of the servers in the restaurant and then shortly after another came by and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water and that our server would be there with us in a second. It took a little bit longer for our server to come by and he took our drink orders. The line chef started to realize that our server was taking quite a while so we asked us what he wanted him to start so that he can relay it to our server when he got around to us, and I thought that was very nice and great that he recognized that we were waiting for quite a while. Our server finally came back with our drinks and asked what we wanted to get started and we told him that they already started our appetizers. He also didn't come back for quite a while after that and he finally asked us what we wanted for dinner and he didn't ask how the food was or anything. He just said OK cool and put in our food order. When we got our actual entrée, I had the New York strip steak and my husband had the scallops and they were very good. We ordered those entrées because the line chef said they were good and we wouldn't be disappointed and we were not. Our server finally came back around after everyone else buster plates and asked if we wanted anything for dessert and we already made up our mind what we wanted. I ordered the coconut rice pudding and my husband ordered the pistachio cheesecake. Both of those were also very good highly recommend them if you have room at the end of your meal. Our server then came back with our bill and just randomly said he took off one of our desserts because of the weight which was nice but he didn't really acknowledge anything else. We thought it was very odd but also we were happy about that. This restaurant was very good and I think the staff is very in tuned to what's going on in the restaurant if something is not as it should and they communicate to others if they need to start food for people or accommodate other people's needs so that's the only reason that I'm giving it a 4 because the server we had wasn't great but the food and everything else was awesome.

Ordered beverages (coffee), then lunch, basic order, grilled cheese, omelet, funky short ribs with eggs and potatoes, fruit for the child. Tables around us start to fill up. In the 50 minutes that passed until we got our food two tables that sat 15-20 minutes after us were served their food. The waitress never came to our table, walked by a few times, no refresh on coffee, no status of obviously delayed food, nothing. I flagged her down and believe it or not I was met with attitude. She said she would check the status. She then stood at her station, 10 minutes pass, she is walking by heading to the patio, I say to her what is status, she says she hasn't checked yet. I ask for the manager. She never returned to our table for the remainder of the service. The most arrogant untrained and unprofessional server I have ever dealt with, and that is saying a lot. My daughter had to leave before the food was served, she and the baby left. Now let's get to the food. Maybe sat under some lamps, overcooked, dry, no flavor. The short rib, egg and potato dish was not fit to be served. Grilled cheese rated a 2, Comptons, a diner across the street is ten times better. Manager, tried to be professional and dropped off a gift card . $25 for a 115 dollar tab one hour plus wait for terrible food and bad attitude. I left the gift card for the waitress. I feel like I should have done more to make it right. I do not get the positve reviews. I ate here twice, both meals were terrible. I hope they read this review then reassign the server to cleaning and dishwashing and maybe provide some training to the staff. This frequent Saratoga local will not go back. A problem in SS is our success allows for bad food and terrible service providers to stay in business.
