Local diner in GlenFalls. Time stopped here in 1970's I think. I like the old Formica countertops and local patrons who have been here forever. Prices are retro in a good way. Good breakfast, coffee is fine, conversations are warm and 'in the know' in ways only locals diners can have it. Had special breakfast (2 eggs sausage and pancakes) for bit over $8. If you want a traditional diner this is the place. Open since 1961. Cash only. I had the grilled cheese and a Greek salad. Best grilled cheese I've ever ordered in a restaurant. The salad used head lettuce and only Italian dressing is available but had a great variety of veggies. Very good taste. My friend had a pastrami on rye and said it was very good. My partner had pepper steak. It came covered in gravy and peppers with mashed potatoes and beans. He said he thought every thing was fresh and home made. High praise for him. The staff was efficient. Came in early Saturday and it was and old school luncheonette/diner. Menu posted up behind the counter and it was as expected, great friendly service, good food and lots of locals coming and going. I really enjoyed it. Reminded me of me when I was young and my grandpa would bring me to a similar place in Brooklyn or NJ. I'll be back and bring my wife who was out of town. Maybe (hopefully) we were here on an off day. Peter's opened in 1961 and appears to have last been cleaned a couple of weeks later. I'm all for local hangouts, but this one takes the "greasy" part of "greasy spoon" much too literally. About the worst coffee I've ever had in a diner.
