Waist of time. I waited for a week for them to order a supposedly new replacement part for my phone, which turned out to be defective. They refused to refund me until I left a bad review, then insisted that I take the bad review down before they would issue a refund. In contrast, I just called ClickAway, where I have had great experiences in the past. Turns out ClickAway charges less for the same job and they are able to to obtain the part in 2-3 days instead of waiting a week. read more

Don't ever go there! TERRIBLE SERVICE with really EXPENSIVE PRICE! The price for one hour work is $79 and usually gonna cost you at least 3-4 hours to fix your computer even small issues. The service here is terrible and the repair work they did on my IPad was shoddy and didn't last. They took over a month to fix it, charged me ahead of time, and never called to update me on the status of the device. Less than a couple of weeks after pick, the iPad literally starting coming apart at the seams. I'm not even going to bother to go back to complain. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Not only is their estimate almost double the price of every other computer repair store in Santa Cruz, but the employee that I spoke with was extremely rude and would hardly give me the time of day let alone discuss my computer issues. I took my laptop here after my screen turned completely white... I thought it could possibly be a loose or shorted wire or something like that, most likely an easy fix by someone who knows about computers more than i. I just went here in a pinch because my computer is important to me and this place was close-by. I walk in and the guy behind the desk doesn't seem friendly, but I tell him what's wrong anyways. Immidiately he starts talking $$, totally not interested in hearing my info. He makes me fill out a form and pay !!!$65!!! JUST TO LOOK AT THE COMPUTER! I felt as if I had to pay the fee just to talk to the guy, who didn't give me any insight into what could have been wrong with my laptop, nor did he ask me if I had any insight into what was wrong. I paid the $65 because he says that the price includes the diagnostic and 1 hour of labor, thinking that 1 hour of labor should be enough to fix a silly screen problem. I went back an hour or two later to check up on it, and they hadn't even begun to look at it yet. They told me they would call the next day to tell me what' s wrong with it. When they called the next day, they told me the lcd screen was broken (Thanks I knew that already, did I really pay you $65 just to figure that out?!?!) and that I had to pay an additional $250 for them to fix it. I asked about the hour of free labor I paid for and they said they had already factored it in. They said that the part was expensive ($130) and it would take 2 more hours to fix. Well I only paid $400 for the computer originally, so that seemed like a rip off. I went back and got my laptop back, and will never go there again. This place is a scam, seriously. Went into find about work on two MacBook Pros, which I planned to bring in the next day. They guy inside was very courteous and helpful, but when I returned to my car after getting a coffee-to-go two doors down, the apparent owner accosted me and told me not to park in their lo--period. absolutely terrible. i bought a charger there for my macbook, hearing that they would give it to me cheaper than apple. however i ended up paying $10 less than i would have if i went to apple. i bought the charger, completely new he said and it stopped working a month after i bought it!!!!! then when i tried to return it he said it was past my thirty days warranty. spent $70 on a charger and now i have to buy a completely new one. dont ever go there!!!! read more

I brought my laptop in about a month ago because after I performed a factory reset I lost Microsoft Office, the audio & it kept turning off randomly & not rebooting. I was told they would diagnose the problem & call me the next day with an update & to ask before any work was done. I was called 2 days later & the person I spoke to said they ran a bunch of updates & wanted to open it up & clean it out (of course for a fee). I asked about the issues of losing Office, turning off & no audio, it seemed as though he didn't know what I was talking about. He said he'd look into that & he'd call me tomorrow. Well, after not hearing from him for 2 days, I called & the guy I talked to (I guess he's the owner) kept going on about how it had never been updated or serviced (which was not true), he was stuck on what he thought the problem was, never being cleaned & it overheating. I told him it never got hot & reiterated that I did a factory reset & lost my Microsoft Office, audio & it started shutting down & not rebooting. He said it wasn't shutting down, it was in safe mode & all I needed to do was hold the power button down, if I didn't want it to do that then don't close the lid. I told him that's not what was going on & the only way to turn it back on is to take the battery out & put it back in then turn it back on. He kept talking over me & down to me like I didn't know what I was talking about. He wouldn't listen to me & kept telling me that it was overheating & it never shut down on him. I picked my computer up after they had it for 6 days & brought it home. I quickly realized that not only did I still not have my Microsoft Office & audio, it was still shutting down! My computer was running great other than that before I dropped it off, it was super fast. After they "worked" on it, it's super slow & glitchy, it takes forever to load a page, forget opening multiple pages! I paid $225 for what?! More problems?! I called & told the guy that nothing was fixed & now it's slow & glitchy, he told me to bring it in. Of course he had to restate how it was overheating & it had never been cleaned & it wasn't shutting down while in the shop, all I needed to do was press the power button or not close the lid. I dropped it off & was told that I could probably pick it up in 5/6 days! Really?! When I went to pick it up it was the same story (you get the point), I asked him what I spent $225 on considering it's now worse than when I originally brought it in! He again repeated the same thing, seeming very put out by this. He claims that I needed to buy an external port to plug in speakers or headphones if I wanted audio, don't close the lid if I don't want it to shut down & I could pay for a new OS disc if I wanted Microsoft Office. Angry is an understatement!!! He wasn't budging & I really didn't want him touching my computer again! So I left. Of course it doesn't stop there! That external device he sold me doesn't work at all & my dvd/cd driver doesn't work! WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T TAKE YOUR COMPUTER HERE!!! They are rude, they don't listen & they will make it WAY worse than when you originally bring it in & charge you for it! There are other reputable shops out there, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!!! read more

My old Dell laptop froze. Updated with Windows 7 and more memory. I'm computer deficient. Did not understand that I would have to reinstall programs. Spent 3 days of trial and error trying to install my lovable but of of date HP 7350 printer. Even HP couldn't reassure me. But, Alfredo was able to reinstall it in a half hour. read more

This place rocks! Went in with my busted laptop and the guy pretty much told me exactly what was wrong. We ordered the part and he fixed it pretty quick. Laptop works great and it only cost me less than $100 and not even a week of my time. Definitely worth a look if your looking for computer repair. read more

Ripoff. Theses guys charged me $80 dollars just to tell me my printer had nothing wrong with it. Also took longer then they had said it would to get my printer back to me. Will NEVER GO BACK. These guys do not do business right, have no integrity or care for the customer only the money. read more

I've gone here a lot, they're good. In all honesty 4 stars, they could have been faster than 5 days, but I'll give it 5 to offset all the people who only give it one. If it appears they deleted old useful data, its stored in C:\BACKUP and may need to be relocated back to it's old directory. read more

I have had three positive experiences with Computer Zone - They were up front about the $60 one hour minimal charge to look at the computer and figure out whats wrong. My desk top would not start at all and after looking at it they said it needed a new hard drive. They ordered the hard drive we talked about and installed it and had it running in less than a week. My son loves video games World of War Craft and they suggested a used video card - They installed it in one day and it greatly helped my sons computer handle the intense graphics. I also a a laptop that did not work it needed a new Mother Board, which is what her school said it needed. They ordered the mother board and installed it unfortunately it quit working after a week, Computer Zone has a 1 month warranty on their work and replaced the mother board with a new one at no additional cost and it has worked perfectly for months now. This is a good place to take your computer if you want it repaired by an experienced repair man. If you looking for cheep parts and can install them and configure them properly yourself just go on the internet and do it yourself. It is nice though to know that when Computer Zone puts in a new part they also install the right drivers and get it working properly. They also do a good job restoring your hard drive if you need to have that done they also put on free public domain anti-virus and Open Office to help you get running again. I am planing on taking my IPod Touch in to replace the Glass as they fix IPods as well. They want about $140 Parts and Labor which seems high but I have a 16 Gig and figure it is worth fixing. read more

I've gone here several times over the past few years, and they've done a great job fixing my laptops (2 different Macbooks). The customer service definitely leaves something to be desired, however. I'm not an expert on computers, but that's why I bring my computer to a shop rather than trying to fix it myself! Talking to any of the people who work at Computer Zone is like going to the dentist - you'll get a condescending lecture about how you haven't been caring for your computer correctly and how any ideas you have about what the problem might be are probably wrong. If you call to check on how things are going, they'll snap at you and refuse to estimate when they might be finished. I can understand that it's annoying for them to have customers bothering them all the time, but I would hope that they understand that a computer is a vital tool for most people's work, so it's hard to be without it. For me, Computer Zone is worth it because they do such an awesome job, technically speaking, but I dread interacting with the people there, and not just because it means my computer is broken. read more
