I was in Trussville for business purposes and visited this restaurant. We discovered a uniquely Hispanic flair with colorful murals and ornamentation... warm quaint vibe. Our server (I think he is an owner), was polite and responsive. While it wasn't a busy service, he was the only one serving tables. The menu is basic. Breakfast on one side, lunch on the other side. I was so excited to see that Trussville had a new brunch spot, and it is authentic Mexican! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the presentation of the food is as well. Even better, the food is as delicious as it is beautiful. I would love to give them 5 stars, but service was greatly lacking. I was never able to get a refill for my drink and they had zero method for taking names and seating people as they arrived. We had two groups sat before us. It seemed as if they just didn't have enough waitstaff for the amount of customers. Service was incredibly slow and lacking. We came in one day while the kids were at daycare, wanting to finally give this place a try / give ourselves a treat. We got the avocado toast, which was really good. We got one of the tortas as well, but it came with a ton of beans on it, which was not mentioned on the menu, though I think that has since been fixed. The torta itself was good though, and I really liked it, despite the beans being on it. The tinga quesadilla was decent, but nothing compared to the other items. We also got some drinks, and I really liked the whiskey sour they made - caution to those that don't like it when it is made with egg white on top though! - but I like it like that, so it didn't bother me. We'll definitely come back, but I'm sure it will be when we don't have the kids with us. I'm not sure this is really a kid friendly place - or at least a baby / toddler friendly place. read more

Came with some girlfriends for brunch on a Sunday. No wait which was great. Fairly large menu and lots of choices. I ended up ordering the Huevos Rancheros and my friends ordered the Huevos Benedict. We all had the same feelings about the food, the presentation was beautiful but the flavor was extremely bland. We all felt like it needed something, salt or some acidic flavor? Something was definitely missing. I just generally felt very blah about the food. I wasn't eating it going "mmm yes this is good". I would say the serving sizes were mid, not huge but also not small. My ticket was $19 before tax. The cocktails were around $15 and honestly the ones I saw were pretty small. I just didn't feel like paying $15 for a small drink. I felt like for the size they were more in the $7 range. Overall for the price I was a little disappointed. But if you like Mexican food on the more bland side then this is definitely the place. I'm not saying I won't eat here again but unfortunately it's not at the top of the list. read more

This restaurant had been on my list to try and I finally made it in for brunch.The ambience is really nice upon arrival with a floral arrangement around the door and a cute heart on the side entrance as well. They have done a great job with a colorful and bright decor. The service I received was very good... he gave good suggestions on the menu options. I decided to have a Fruida drink with my chips salsa which was really good but the cute bird glasses always definitely cut down on the serving size. The chips and salsa includes four salsa options which was different. I like 3 of the 4 options. For my main entree I had the ham omelet. It was good but could have used more seasoning. Con Huevos is SUCH an amazing new spot for brunch and lunch! Just what Trussville needed-something new, exciting, delicious and local! We went this morning around 10:30 for brunch, and even though it was peak Saturday morning rush, we were seated within 10 minutes. The service was attentive and friendly, drinks were delicious and unique, food was incredibly fresh and SO beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was colorful and fun without being overstimulating. As far as menu items, I ordered a chorizo omlette and te por ocho (which was served in the cutest little bear-shaped glass...I was obsessed) and Mexican coffee-all truly outstanding and unique. I can't wait to go back to try more menu items! Overall we had an amazing experience at Con Huevos and will be back! So happy this is now in Trussville! read more

We had a great first experience at this new restaurant! It is beautiful inside, loved the decor and atmosphere. We had great service from our waiter and many other staff members as well, all very kind and welcoming! The food was DELISH. I got the enchiladas verdes and my husband got the con huevos torta. I went with very high expectations for what had been said about the place but honestly I was disappointed, I ordered an avocado toast and the bread felt just like the one they sell at dollar store, it was very soft and the flavor very basic like the ones you make at home. I passed this place by several times and never gave it a thought. We are very new to the area. My wife being Mexican laughed at the name and said let's go see what it's about. I could tell immediately we were not in your average Mexican restaurant as soon as I walked in. The menu was my second confirmation. My wife and I ordered 3 breakfast so we could share plates and explore. Glad we did. Looking into the open kitchen was also confirming my thoughts. The line seem to work well together. I could tell they were cooking to order and not throwing slop together. When the food arrived I was taken back by the beautiful presentation. You don't get eatable flowers in Mexican restaurants. The food looked like a work of art and tasted even better. The chilaquiles in green sauce were the best I've ever had. I've had Mexican food in many countries and all over Mexico. As soon as I started eating all kinds of bells were ringing in my head. This again was not the run of the mill joint. This is fresh made food (not frozen) in the Mexico City style. I couldn't contain myself and asked the server about it. She confirmed the owner (chef) is from Mexico City and they don't even have a freezer on the premises. Come on folks. When was the last time you had fresh food in a Mexican restaurant? Some complain about the time it takes to get the food. If you want fast go to Taco bell. Con Huevos is a wonderful new restaurant! The inside is beautiful, and the chairs are probably the most comfortable restaurant chairs I've ever sat in. We went for a weekday lunch so it was not very busy, and our waiter was very helpful. I had the Con Huevos Torta with the chorizo, and it was so delicious! I would definitely get it again. I do wish they had some appetizers on the menu, but they did bring out a little flight of salsas and dips with chips. Overall a great experience! read more

We had a delightful experience at this charming locally owned restaurant. My husband and I were seated at the bar, and our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering it-literally adorned with flowers. My husband got a quesadilla and Nutella toast. I got the enchiladas verdes. Not only were our meals beautiful, but also delicious and relatively healthy. The bartender prepared an incredible margarita and was extremely nice and attentive. A weekday 1:00 pm lunch at Con Huevos was a great idea. Parking was easy. The restaurant, though small, was beautifully decorated with a lovely mural and unusual light fixtures. The table was covered and cloth napkins held honest to goodness quality silverware. The chairs were very comfortable and colorful with backs festooned with floral pieces. All that prepared us for delicious food. To begin homemade corn chips with a sample of each of the sauces featured in the entrees introduced even the neophyte to what they would be eating. The verde, roja and mole were all delicious, as was the black bean sample. In case we didn't catch on our waiter described the qualities of each of the samples. The tacos, enchiladas, and huevos rancheros sampled at our table were uniform for their gorgeous presentation and flavor. This restaurant is a welcome addition to the Trussville area.
