This is a convenient location for garden city and surfside residents and visitors. My favorite part is sitting by the ocean and enjoy the company of my friends and family while eating their. I have never eaten inside at this restaurant why would I when you can sit out on there covered porch on the beach and watch and listen to the ocean. The service is friendly and fast. I love the she crab soup and the Reuben sandwich. I also enjoy the shrimp pasta salad although I wish you could just get a cup of it. My fiancé loves there's spicy shrimp and chicken wings. This is a cool place on the ocean. That makes it right there. The view from the covered deck is most impressive. The beaches down in garden city are more pristine in my opinion than,other areas in the grand strand. The food was good but not stellar , especially for the price. We were in town visiting family and my mother-in-law wanted to take us to Conch Cafe for lunch. It is like other "dive bar/restaurants" in the MB area only the food was worse than usual. It's located right on the beach with plenty of roomy outdoor patio seating, so the view is nice. If you don't like melting away in the heat there is also some nice air conditioned indoor seating. Unfortunately my mother-in-law is all about the view so melt away we did. Service was pretty fast, as we were sat immediately and our drink orders were taken and delivered. The menu consists of some fried seafood, seafood sandwiches, burgers, and other ocean side dive bar fare. Silly ol' me went with the pulled pork sandwich ($8.50). I said to myself, "hey, I'm in the South...this local restaurant has to have good pulled pork." I was so wrong. The pork was a big pile of mush that looked more like tuna salad and had absolutely no char. Fortunately the BBQ sauce that is served along with it was not all that bad and helped mask the paste of the obviously processed pork. The cole slaw that came with it did nothing to help...not only was it bland and flavorless but it was semi-warm, which is no way for slaw to be. The miss' didn't fair much better. She ordered a crab cake sandwich ($10), and while the crab cake was more crab than filler, it was tragically under-seasoned and had no flavor. My mother-in-law got a burger which she said was good. I stole one of her fries and I did like that it was a very potato-y . In the end, the Conch Cafe is not for me. I'm sure if I went for some late night drinks and fried appetizers while watching the sun set on the beach, it might be good for that. However, based on the food I had today there is no way I would go back for a full on lunch or dinner meal. read more

Just left this place.... Furious! It's 11:45 and we wanted some lunch, having eaten here multiple times and like it... So, thought we would grab lunch with a beautiful view. There might have been 7 tables occupied out of the whole place. At least 4 waitresses, multiple busboys and 3 young hostess. We were seated and then began our 11 minute wait with absolutely no one speaking, stopping by to get our drinks!!! Nothing at all, so we finally stop one of the waitresses going to another table and politely tell her we haven't seen our waitress yet. Meanwhile in the front may I add there are the 3 hostesses sitting eating and laughing... Still no waitress..and then we wait another two minutes and had enough. I know they have lots of customers, but we happen to be local and think you really should pay more attention to customers!!!! read more

Great establishment if you're a tourist. Decent vistas,and food is not that bad. They promote sea food of course but please a disclaimer; this is not local caught fish,many that's okay. Not many places at the beach to local. If you doubt ask the staff. It's frozen and again that's okay. The portions are satisfactory and predictably fried, broiled, or fried. They push the she- crab soup as do most fish eateries here at the beach. It's decent...a little heavy but over all good. If you are here for the first time and settled in one of the myriad motels near the Conch Cafe please go. You won't be disappointed...but if your a local I'd stay away and maybe go to the fish mongers,( Harrelsons is my favorite and seven seas as well but be careful with Murrells inlet seafood, The last two times I went the fish eyes were cloudy, it smelled way to fishy and well just not pleasant, maybe it was an off day!) in Murrells Inlet and make your own dinner. read more

Right when I walked in, the view from the large deck windows were so nice I knew I had to stay. There is just something amazing about eating dinner on the beach at sunset I just can't find elsewhere. The folks that work here have been at it for over 30 years, and they definitely have a system that seems to work. After wandering in the first week of the season they open in February, the place had quite a few patrons, though not too busy. With lots of drink specials to choose from, I was on vacation in minutes. The fish tacos were good, and quickly delivered! Oh, and the sweet potato wedges were huge, give them a try if you drop by. The food was excellent and our waitress was nice. The place is super cute and great for families of any size. We had a table of six which included two small children under 5. We sat in the balcony and had an amazing view of the water. My meal was delicious I had the small seafood platter with shrimp and oysters. I substituted regular fries with sweet potato fries. The seafood was cooked to perfection. Additionally, I ordered a cup of she crab soup. It was overseasoned, but still tasty. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

We went here when the place was fairly dead thanks to the recent weather. Really expected the food and service to be really great. Service was very attentive and kept our drinks full. I had the fish tacos which had great reviews recently. Unfortunately they were fairly dry and bland. Our little one had a simple hot dog and it was actual severely over cooked on one end. Fortunately he didn't want to eat anything but the fries. Which I must say we're pretty good. I had a side of onion rings which were really good as well. Also had the calamari which was just ok. We were looking forward to eating here after hearing good things. But we were sadly disappointed in the quality of the food, especially for the price. After being seated pretty quickly, we waited and waited for our drinks and our food. The kids even had time to walk the beach, come back and still wait. We had finished our appetizer long before our meal arrived. The calamari was well cooked (an appetizer) and we looked forward to our other food to arrive. The she crab soup was over spiced & we never found the first piece of crab. Really the worse we've had. The salad was fair but for a $10 soup & salad--not worth it. The conch combo appetizer was mixed with good grouper fingers, great shrimp wrapped in bacon, fair shrimp salad, and the worse conch fritters we've ever had (tough & hard). Could barely eat the crab cakes, didn't finish them. Fish tacos were fair. The waitress apologized for the delays but that didn't make our experience any better. Personally, I don't care about short staffing issues when I'm paying that kind of money for a meal and given bad food to go with the service. To summarize, go for the view & maybe the drinks. Pretty standard seafood fare at this beachy restaurant. I was with a family group and we ate out on the patio overlooking the beach with a fabulous 180 degree ocean view. I had a platter with steamed shrimp and a crab cake. It was pretty good...certainly not the best crab cake ever, but it was chunky and fresh. My cousin got an appetizer of fried shrimp wrapped in bacon. That was yummy...we Southerners are so good at adding bacon to things :) read more

Only go to this place for the atmosphere and the cheap, cold draft beer. Those factors are the only reason this place isn't getting a 1 star. Don't come hungry because you do not want to eat here. We visited this place after getting off the plane, before we headed down to Pawleys Island. We were not looking for brilliant food, just something decent in a nice location. We came here with no high expectations. But we did expect the food to be good enough to eat. I did not know it was possible to render a Shrimp Po-Boy inedible. This place did it. Grossly overcooked shrimp and then covered with cheese! It was simply gross. My husband's crab salad wasn't much better. And by the way, Conch Cafe is not in Murrells Inlet. It is in Garden City. Seafood salad was full of shrimp, scallop and crab blend salad on top of a garden salad. Wonderful balance. Generous portion for $12. Accompanied with a nice sangria $6. Special of the day was Golden tile sandwich. Perfectly prepared served with sweet potato fries by accident but server immediately brought out the requested slaw. Child flounder was huge. I'll give it a 3 stars for the view. I've gone once about a year ago with my whole family and thought it was pretty decent. I decided to go again yesterday and I'm pretty disappointed. The price of the food was ridiculous and honestly not that good. Grouper fingers are decent because whatever sauce they bring out with them makes it taste pretty good. Overall, I'm just not satisfied with the price. Portion sizes for what I got, are way too small for the price they put on it. Nestled right on the beach by a bunch of condos, this place has a great view of the water and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. During high tourist season you may have to wait a bit for a seat- add some minutes if you prefer outdoors. The food was excellent- fried bacon-wrapped shrimp, crab cake and flounder sandwiches, and fish tacos were all impressive. Drinks are great and draft beer is cheap. Service was incredible (thanks Jessie!), and even though the line for a wait was out the door and the restaurant was full (given half capacity due to COVID), our server was on us very often checking in. The owner/manager also came over towards the end and asked how everything was which was great customer service. Overall a great experience and a really good meal. read more

We went Sunday night for dinner. The service was horrible. We ordered 2 appetizers, and only got one. Our drinks weren't refilled until we were about to leave. The server smiled and was friendly when we actually saw her. I had to stop another waitress to ask her to send ours to our table. We went back tonight (Tuesday). It was busy. We only waited 15 minutes. Our waitress came and took our drink orders. Those came rather quickly. The waitress took our appetizer order. We ordered 3 appetizers. We didn't get our appetizers for 45 minutes. Once they arrived, the buffalo shrimp was correct, however; the chicken quesadilla came as shrimp. We didn't say anything because we were so hungry. Then we hurried and ordered our meal. 50 minutes later our food arrived. We didn't see our waitress during these wait times. I actually went to the bar for refills. I ordered mashed potatoes, and got fries. I ate them out of hunger. And didn't say anything. We ordered dessert to go. 1 slice of key lime pie, 1 slice of Oreo cookie pie. We didn't check them, we waited until getting to our condo. Guess what? We got 1 peanut butter pie, and 1 cheesecake. At least we think it's cheesecake. It def wasn't key lime pie. We've visited the Conch Cafe several times a year for over 5 years... Very disappointed this week. read more

5 stars. LOVED this place. We had a great waitress who was patient with all of our questions. But the food stole the show. We started off with the app platter for three of us, then one ordered the crabcrakes with shrimp on top while 2 of us shared the seafood platter with an added crabcake, we each got the crabcakes 'oscar style' which I super recommend , it's pieces of asparagus with grilled shrimp and scallops with a light sauce over it all on top of the crabcake. You won't regret it! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the ocean, then afterward we went right to the beach, so it was a perfect location. The seafood all tasted amazing and fresh. Ugghhh just thinking about this place makes me want to gag. It started off nice, a huge patio overlooking a beautiful stretch of beach... that's where it ended. Almost everything on the menu is deep fried and over priced. I got the shrimp and pasta salad (one of the few things that wasnt fried) and m'lady got the crab cakes. We both felt ill afterwards and I ended up throwing up all night. There are much better places to eat - including the McDonalds up the street. AVOID! read more

Nyum! Came down to SC for the first time to Murrell Inlet to visit in law grandparents and grandpa took us here!! Right on the water, cozy and touristy, huge outdoor terrace. Had conch fritters which were not oily, perfectly crispy and quite delicious with just a hint of conch! I also had the shrimp po boy which was my first time having a po boy and it was YUM! I really really enjoyed it. The pina colada I had was also quite yummy and you could taste the alcohol! If I go to SC then I would definitely go back. Actually got takeout from here, since it was rainy and we are only staying a mile away. Food was packaged perfectly and was ready just as I got there, so it traveled well and was hot and fresh. Staff was friendly. Got the ribeye and shrimp, crab cake and shrimp, and the tenderloin, all with fries and side salads. Really nice portions, steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious! Happy with the seafood too. Seems like a normal priced place for good seafood and steak. Tiny gripe, I don't like when they put the core of iceberg lettuce in a salad, but that's a minor quibble. Overall I would recommend and we will be back next year when we come for vacation. read more

We saw this place as we were driving by and decided to walk down there for lunch while waiting for our condo to be ready for check-in. The place is right on the beach and has an awesome view of the oceanfront. The weather was great so it wasn't a difficult decision to sit outside on the deck. We were seated immediately and our server was great. He was knowledgeable about the menu and able to offer plenty of suggestions. He joined in a little light-hearted banter but never over stayed his welcome. He kept the drinks flowing and our food came out quickly. The portions were generous and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the fish tacos on our server's recommendation (I had planned to get them anyway, but it's nice to let them think they talked me into it!) and thoroughly enjoyed them, the fries were good too. Others in the family enjoyed the she-crap soup, mozzarella sticks, salads and a burger with blue cheese. All good "lunch at the beach" food. We all enjoyed the experience and may wander down there again later in the week if only for drinks and appetizers and to enjoy the view. Actually, I have no idea what the inside of this place even looks like, so you'll have to check other reviews for that. Speaking of other reviews, I was surprised to see some of the others on here. If you're expecting some grand fine-dining experience then you're in the wrong place. I'm not sure what happened when I first visited (and reviewed) Conch Cafe, but we have returned numerous times and had wonderful experiences. It is now a favorite, and we visit at least once every time we go to the beach (which is often). Two items are so great that I simply alternate between them: (1) The Soup and Half Sandwich Combo. Their She Crab Soup is fantastic, and paired with half a tuna salad sandwich (which I request with extra mayo and the bread toasted) is outstanding. (2) French Dip. This is not on their menu, but if you go on a Saturday or Sunday for lunch, they usually have it. Outstanding, with a great quality meat. (They have prime rib on the weekend nights and use the remaining meat from this for the sandwiches). Amazing stuff. The service can be spotty, but all in all is still acceptable. Love the food, love the ambiance - and more specifically the gigantic deck overlooking the ocean. read more

As a local, one of my all-time favorite restaurants! Great location, right on the beach. It can get a little windy outside, but that is to be expected.
