What's not to love about this family-run and-owned restaurant. The food, phenomenal; the service, the best I've had in a long time; the ambiance, a nice local cafe feel. We honestly had the best food and best experience of any meal on our entire vacation. We will certainly be back every single year going forward. We had 2 kids in our group and they made sure they brought out their food first, an often overlooked and forgotten practice by many places. Everyone in our group of 9 loved everything they got. Everything and I mean everything was cooked perfect including the baked potato, kids chicken strips, homemade honey mustard. The service was the best we had in Myrtle and murrells inlet. The coconut cream pie was better than Kaminsky's in Charleston in their hay day and the carrot cake is everything that everyone raves about. Also very reasonably priced based on what we normally pay for seafood around here. I can't remember having a nice meal in this town under $100 in quite a while! We both had the fisherman's platter - shrimp, grouper and crab cakes - can order it fried or grilled. Crab cakes - best I've had in any restaurant. Deep fried baked potatoes!!! Wow - who thought of that? Makes the skin so delectable. Took a huge piece of homemade carrot cake home to eat later since we were so full. It was super moist and very good. While there, multiple members of the family came out to check on us and chat. This delightful place will definitely become one of our go-to's on our rotation when we are in town. Locally owned restaurant with great local flare and awesome food. My family and in-laws had a mixture of regular menu items and the daily specials; all food was excellent with no exception. The baked potato was fried, which gave a unique texture. The service was great; we were given a picture of sweet tea with because four of us had that as our beverage. The grilled shrimp, BBQ platter, grilled grouper mango, and mixed grill were all excellent. The carrot cake is homemade, which was amazing. Both owners talked with us during our visit. After a 10 Hour drive and not stopping to eat we were all starving. Checked out Yelp for great restaurants that aren't a chain. I came across this place and I'm so happy I did. We were warmly welcomed, and told it won't be too long for a table. My daughter had her Jets hat and shirt on, Rick, one of the owners made sure to let them know they are not Jets fans. This place was a little out of our way on our last vacation. Our son in law told us this place had the best carrot cake he'd ever eaten. He was absolutely correct ! I ordered a ribeye, it wasn't in the menu but the owner said he had one he could make for me and it was delicious. It is the best carrot cake I've ever had in my 50 years, and I have had a lot of carrot cake because it is in my top 3 fave cakes. It is worth the trip. Just do not skip it. Do not. We tried Southside Grill for the first time yesterday and we will be back! We were greeted quickly, menu looked good, prices were good, and servers were there immediately. We both had the seafood combo( crabcake, shrimp and grouper). The food was excellant, the grouper was cooked perfectly as was the shrimp and the crabcake was full of crabmeat, just enough filler to hold it together. Sides were good as well. We decided to try this place due to the great reviews and were not disappointed. 3 of us had the grilled fisherman's platter, and 1 had grouper a la kim. Everything was great. The platter had a large grouper filet, 3 nice shrimp, and 1 delicious crab stuffed crab cake. It came with a nice salad, baked potato, and canned green beans (the only item that was disappointing, but would not discourage me from ever going). The grouper a la kim was covered in crabmeat and some cheese. It is also excellent per my sister in law. The staff is wonderful, most from Pittsburgh, PA, and the place is decorated with a lot of Pittsburgh sports memorabilia. The place is also BYOB, beer and wine. I had the blue cheese burger and my bride had a reg cheeseburger and they were absolutely delicious! The potato salad is a must have and probably the best I've ever had! I wanted to look a little outside of Myrtle Beach for dinner tonight. Browsed Murrells Inlet and found this little gem. I admit, I was skeptical while we waited for our food (my restaurant-snob meter was turned all of the way up). I went on a limb and ordered the fried grouper plate with a baked potato and salad with blue cheese and hubby ordered the grilled fisherman's platter. The salad: Very Good. Lettuce was fresh and pretty sure the blue cheese was homemade. Fried Grouper: Out of this World Delicious. The fish tasted so fresh and it was fried to perfection. The batter was so light and crispy. I never order fried fish, but I'd make the trip back here for it over and over again. Baked Potato: Yum. Not sure what's going on with the skin, but I need all of my potatoes cooked this way Green Beans: I wish I had just asked them to hold the beans, as not to waste them. I'm not a big fan and everything else was more than filling and delicious. Hubs' plate: (his words)- "seasoned well, cooked perfectly and tasted great". We read a previous review that didn't speak highly of the crab cakes, and we both disagree with whomever wrote that. My husband let me try a bite of his and it was delicious! The service: I think everyone in the restaurant stopped by to check on us. The owners/staff were so friendly and attentive. One sweet lady asked us if we had saved room for dessert and told us that she baked them all herself. So of course we took one for the team. The carrot cake: ranks in my top 3 ever. Texture was perfect, not sickeningly sweet, and the icing was incredible. Worth ALL of the calories. Unfortunately, it was the oddest crab cake I have ever tried (and I've eaten TONS of crab cakes). It was very thin and soft. Definitely more like a spread than a cooked crab cake. I couldn't eat it due to the texture. It was not was I was looking for. So while my food experience was not good, the people and the place were nice and maybe they just make crab cakes like that? And I am from Steubenville which is a town about an hour away from Pittsburgh which is where the owners are from and the interior of the restaurant is decorated with pictures and signs from Pittsburgh. I had a fish sandwich with fries which was 14 .00 . I actually went to try their pierogis but they said they were frozen not made there so I have frozen ones in my freezer , so no on those. They push their, I guess homemade deserts for 8.00 a slice , But didn't try any , I think my Bill came to 16 .00 and I noticed they charged a fee for me using my credit card. Brought here by family who lives in the area and I do believe we found a hidden gem. Shhhh don't tell anyone. Or tell everyone...just save me a seat. Reservations are recommended as there isn't a lot of seating inside. But we were able to get a nice table right in the center. It was cool because I believe the staff is all family and that's fun. They had some daily specials and because it was Valentine's weekend we got 2 can dine for $30 I think...and I thought that was a good deal. Plus the kids got a plate of free cookies. I had the prime rib and I forget what my husband got, tuna maybe? We also got fried pickle appetizers and a couple of their desserts which were homemade and AWESOME. The vibe was very chill and it felt like we were in someone's house with family just relaxing and enjoying good food. It's BYOB so that made it better because one thing this area gauges you on is alcohol in a restaurant. So here we have good food at a great price. Good vibes from family. Went there with a out of state friend a little before 8pm on a 710/2019 Wednesday night. Open light was on. Didn't check the hours of operation, just heard the food was good. Opened the door. Walked in (3 of us) and a older man looked at me like I was a alien. Looked me up and down and said "Yes, can I help you"? I was like yeah table for 3. He then looked like he was about to explode and said I guess we can let you get a table. I looked and him and said we will leave. He said thank you. Hey bud, you lost some locals today.
