2002 Subaru WRX wagon, 85k miles, never had any major repairs or major maintenance. I took it in to replace the valve cover gaskets, which were oozing a tiny bit of oil that made the car stink. Ken found additional drips coming from the front of the engine and I approved a timing belt kit replacement along with new water pump and oil seals, and other bits that were accessible. The work was done right on budget, and the result is very pleasing - I've fallen in love with my old car again. It purrs and runs more smoothly than it has in years. No more stink! Went to Concord Auto Service yesterday based on Yelp ratings. Did not have an appointment at 2 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon so I wasn't confident I could get a repair that day. The sense of urgency was due to my brakes suddenly being very unreliable. I drive to San Francisco regularly. Bad brakes and San Francisco do NOT mix, not unless you are looking to start a trend of being a hood ornament on a cable car. Happy to report that Ken took great care of me. He managed to squeeze me into his schedule and personally undertook the repair. He was straightforward with me. Pointed out another repair that is needed, but stated it didn't affect the reason I came in, which is the braking. It was not immediately apparent what the problem was, as the premium brake pads I had on the car still had plenty of pad left. Final consensus was that the culprit was likely overheating of the rotors resulting in poor stopping power. There was evidence of this, and they were standard non-vented rotors, so they possibly could not hold up to the premium ceramic pads' heat levels. (Something the previous mechanic should have advised me when replacing the pads, and something I should have thought of on my own as well.) Premium pads deserve matching rotors. Long story short, Ken asked me what i wanted to do regarding the brakes, as replacement rotors and pads on a 2008 Charger are not pocket change. I told him to replace both rotors and pads with quality replacements which he then ordered and installed. He took it for a test drive and worked the new brakes at different speeds to confirm that stopping power was restored and about 90 minutes later (and a few hundred lighter in the wallet), I was on my merry way. The cost was not unreasonable considering what I asked for as parts and the level of customer service was top notch. This shop will be around for a while but they will likely have a line of customers, so definitely make an appointment if you can. I got lucky and Ken was very obliging and understanding of my situation. An honest mechanic is good to find. read more

It's so hard to find an honest mechanic. When my clutch went out I took it to a place closer to my home. They quoted me over $1000 more than what people on google had said it'd be. When I balked, I was told, "oh it's negotiable". But, they were so out of the ball park, I left in disgust. If it was possible, I would give Ken more than five stars. When my Grandfather passed, I decided to give the car to my cousin. He lives too far to drive the car home without a tune-up, so I offered to take it in and handle it here, my cousin only needed to arrange to pick up and pay for the tune-up. My cousin took two whole weeks to pick up the car, and Ken was communicative and way more understanding than I would have been. I had my coil-over suspension system installed here. When I arrived to chat with Ken to get things started we had a look over at everything to make sure we knew what the job would be. Ken asked me various questions about how I wanted these installed. On hearing my answers he came up with a clear picture of what he thought I actually wanted and we discussed a bit. I put full trust in him to get things right and he hit the nail right on the head. Additionally, they give rides to and from bart and Ken noticed a noise coming from the front left of my car. He called me and let me know that he took a look and couldn't find the cause of this noise and that I could take a gamble and replace two parts to see if that helps. How many people would tell you that they don't know what the problem is for sure? Ken and his team are a genuine bunch of people. During our various exchanges while he was trying to understand the settings I wanted he said, "I just want you to be happy". That really made it clear to me that he cares about his work and making sure his customers are happy. It's been a while since I wrote a review for anyone, but this had to be done! With the new car, (well.... new/used) there's really no one else i absolutely trust to touch this car but Ken! Especially for big things like tune-ups including the more recent thing my clutch. It FINALLY went out. I tried to baby it for as long as I could, but it just didn't want to work for me anymore. I've gone to Ken plenty of times before for my oil changes so when my clutch went out, he was the only one I thought of bringing my car to. My 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS has sat collecting dust for the past year. My clutch was fried, I knew Iit had some considerable damage from all those years and miles. She was long overdue for some major TLC. Man, did he treat her like it was his baby. He did her right. She hasn't been better. My car purrs, still has great pick up for a car with well over 220k miles. The suspension and steering is tighter and really handles well. As a single mom, i dont have the time or money to be bs'd by repair shops. Ive been duped by shop after shop. I recently spent 1200 dollars for absolutely nothing. Same problem existed and i ended up using all four of my AAA tows only to have nothing resolved. I rolled into this shop with a coolant leak and minor temp increase. The gentlemen helped me out with a bit of coolant to get me home and suggested i look into where the leak was coming from. I brought my car in a few days later and they fixed my leak and didnt gauge me. No more overheat smell. No more coolant dribbles. So then a week later.....im on the freeway and i suddenly lose power and all my dash lights came on. Panic set it. Onstar said get her to the shop asap. I knew just where to come to. I rolled back in to drop my car off and they even drove me to work! Within a day they called me back and let me know that they reset the codes but for some reason....the codes wont come back on even after a lot of test driving. Any other shop ive been to would have done (or claimed to have done) a bunch of costly unnecessary repairs. Not here. Not to mention...They didnt charge me a dime. I cant even express in words how grateful i am. No matter what u need done...this is the shop to bring your vehicle to. Good work. Good ppl. Great service. Thanks guys!
