We live in Saratoga however lived in Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz Mountain area for 15 years so always looking for a good reason to go over the hill. Precious did not provide exact location details for the first visit. Had no idea this location was so hard to find on first try. I've been to the Hemp clothing and Sports Apparel hemming location 10 years ago, but unless you know EXACTLY where it is in this complex, add 10 minutes to driving around in circles We arrived 15 minutes after. I know I know, late. After driving in circles I dropped by son off with his friend so they could try to find it on foot. They ran around and in/out of buildings and were directed by another business how to get there. Before I got there, Precious had told them (they are both teens) that said its too late to be seen for a haircut and she would only give a consultation. Anyway once I found the business, my sons friend approached me and she said that Precious was turning him away but will give him a color consultation. I was shocked. Yes it was My bad, We were late. I just didn't think she was going to be so rude and blunt and hard lined about it. She did not even call her next appt to ask them arrive 15 min, so she offered my son only a color consultation. She was headlined about it even when I explained CoVid is more hectic than ever with work, driving over the hill, no directions had us driving in circles and running on foot. Nothing. The place is very tiny and forget about an additional person being inside. I did not know that either. She could have said "sorry" but that is definitely not her personality. The wind was blowing pretty hard and it was cold waiting outside Anyway, when my son came out from color consultation she gave us two options. 2 weeks from now for haircut or 3 weeks from now to do cut/color. We preferred cut/color. She told us Feb 24. My son said that is my birthday, Precious said "well you can sit in the chair" I asked for other options. Precious said "2 weeks for cut" Clearly Precious ONLY wanted us to take the date of my sons birthday. The 24th. We made it clear we had plans and it's my sons birthday. Precious was inflexible. So we scheduled Feb 24th, my sons birthday. He moved a few birthday plans to Tuesday Feb 23rd so he could accommodate Precious, not the other way around. So here comes a short 2 days before and Precious texts him to move to cut/color from Wednesday 02/24 (His birthday) to now Tuesday 02/23 - the date that he changed his his rescheduled birthday plans to accommodate her. Precious expected us to be accommodating and flexible while clearly she is not. Precious was dismissive on our scheduling, driving over the hill, WFH during CoVid and birthdays but when it came to HER needs, she somehow thought they were valid and meaningful but ours were not. I've never been so happy with my hair!! Much thanks to Priscilla. I am so low maintenance, and almost never pay for a haircut or dye, especially salon prices. Priscilla helped me talk my way through the issues I had with my hair, I didn't realize there were so many. She was able to hear what I was saying and use it to cut my hair into the perfect shape for my length, curl, and morning routine. We also dyed my hair darker. Best money I've spent in years!! Highly reccommend. I was doing this because I'm in a wedding this weekend, but now I'm never going anywhere else! I've added (silly Snapchat) before/after pics so hopefully you can see how lifeless and flat my hair was before, and how bouncy and healthy it is now. We had a super thorough consultation (which I didn't even plan on) to ensure we were on the same page. I felt listened to and I couldn't have asked for better communication from a stylist. Then, I had the most relaxing scalp massage and wash OF MY LIFE! It completely set the tone of the entire appointment. Noelle is as good as it gets. I've been seeing her for years, and I am so happy that she finally has her own salon! Unfortunately for me, I moved to Seattle, and as a result of being spoiled by Noelle, I've been unable in the two years I've lived here to find anyone that compares to her expertise and charm. So, I fly back to Santa Cruz to get my hair done (yes, seriously). And, apparently everyone else now knows how incredible she is, because she's booked at least a month (usually more) in advance! I've never encountered another stylist who has such skill with color. She creates unique combinations that have the end result of stunning but subtle colors you don't see on other people. She has a passion for continuing education and it shows! She uses ethical products and has started some cool programs (bring in unwanted hair product for credit, and she'll donate them to the women's shelter), and most important - she really, truly loves what she's doing. In the 10+ years I've been seeing her, I've never been kept waiting once, nor have I had a hair color or style I didn't like. When I had plans to shave my head, she walked me through it, taking me through various lengths to make the process fun and soften the blow. Every style was wildly different, and they were all amazing. Lastly, she knows how to make a girl comfortable. The salon is unpretentious, but has what you need to feel pampered, and she's a great conversationalist with a sense of humor. I just can't say enough good things. This place is awesome, all the women here are great at their craft and KIND! I felt very welcomed when I walked in and was made to feel very comfortable. The place was clean and cute and I was offered something to drink. I got a cut and balayage and am so happy with the results, my hair feels incredibly healthy. I've never had a better salon experience than the one I've had at Concrete Rose Salon with Precious! She takes time to get to know you and your long term hair goals, which is really refreshing! Her techniques work really well for my fine hair type and I've purchased products through the salon that have made all the difference in my hair routine. Disapointed I wish I could be writing a positive review, but Noelle canceled on me last minute for absolutely no reason saying that she had no time or space in my schedule for me even though I had scheduled very far in advance and had had a previous color consult with her and a separate appointment for a patch test (as I had never colored my hair before). She also knew how hard it was for me to get childcare lined up in advance for such a long appointment as I have two really young kids, and yet she still canceled last minute for no reason. If you value your time and want to find someone reliable, I would highly recommend not going here. read more

I really love the name of the salon and it's dedication to Tupac Shakur - but I was more than disappointed in a "master stylist." Priscilla cut my hair shorter than I would've liked, and really didn't seem to know at all how to Deva cut wavy hair. It's basically a mediocre cut one supposedly I'm booked going to an expert and going to get my hair rocked out. I paid to not have that happened - and I only cut my hair three times a year so I don't really have time for mediocrity either. My length kept edging up - as predicted - as she figured out my hair - in the end I had to ask Noel the owner to intervene and by then my hair was shorter than I would've liked. For $150 I don't think this was worth it and I definitely would not go back. Noelle seems to be really good with curly hair and they seem to be in the funky colors but I'm just disappointed that the original salon L'Atelier didn't have any room for me. Yet another 3 to 4 month period of my life with a mediocre haircut. If you have wavy hair, this is not your place. In fact, I felt like I should've paid like $25 for her to learn on me - this wasn't even a $75 cut. But I would've preferred not to have my hair touched by her in the end and waited for a real expert in diva wavy cuts. There goes my length yet again! I have been meaning to leave this review for quite a while! Stacie Keil is my stylist and she is WONDERFUL! She takes the time to really listen and understand what I want (and even helps me figure out what will work best for me). She takes into account my hair texture and condition, the previous processes that I've had and also my coloring and face shape and lifestyle. Add to that, Stacie is precise and meticulous with her cuts while being fun, easy company! She always takes her time to give me a perfectly smooth blowout and style. The salon itself is very cool, modern meets vintage and sparkling clean with local art (that changes every month) and always great music on the stereo. They have great hair products here too! I came to see Noelle for a keratin treatment but she convinced me to embrace my natural curls. She is so knowledgeable and sweet. The style and cut she gave me was awesome. My experience here was absolutely amazing. Noelle is a "logic psychic" and knew exactly what I wanted. I've never experienced such a thorough hair consultation before my cut! Noelle guides you a step-by-step as she styles/cuts/colors/perfects your hair. She is kind and friendly. I was floored by the final result, she gave me exactly what I wanted! Though my hair was bleached and colored, it looks healthier. She sent me on my way with a special color conditioner to maintain my locks. I followed Priscila to this new salon as she is an amazing stylist and I was super excited for her to open her own spot. This salon is hands down the nicest salon I have been to for a number of reasons. Location is amazing, they are located in the Sash Mill in a very cool group of buildings that offers great parking and safety. Their location is super convenient and not only is there parking but its completely free which is becoming a rarity in this town. I also love that its centralized so I can run some errands before heading over for my appointment. The salon itself is beautiful, clean and offers top of the line hair products. Priscila not only is my stylist but also just did my wedding. My 5 bridesmaids, mother and sister in law all had their hair done by Priscila along with myself and they had nothing but good things to say about her. She is talented and really listens to what you want. When I see Priscila for an appointment, I am the only client she sees during that time, start to finish. She sits down with me and talks about how my hair has been, what I have been experiencing and what I would like to change. I love this about her. I have been doing my hair since I was 16 years old, color, cuts, balyage, highlights, extensions so I have had a lot of different experiences with stylists over the years and my hair is definitely not easy.
