I was really looking forward to eating here after my sister raved about it. Let's start shall we? The chips are way too thick. It's like eating old hard bread, it's so crispy, that it doesn't seem quite right. Of course it could just be a preference of mine. Sides are reasonably priced. We had the green salsa, red salsa, and Elote Queso. All were very good. I also ordered a $12 Margherita, and it came in a tiny glass (see picture) that was all ice cubes, and barely any liquid. It tasted good, but I was expecting a normal tall Margherita glass, and was disappointed to say the least. The biggest letdown was the tacos however. Each taco is roughly $5 each. So you would expect perfection at that price. I ordered one of the brisket tacos because it wasn't supposed to be spicy. Ever since I had covid back in 2020, I can't eat anything even remotely spicy anymore (sad face). It was almost too spicy for me. It's disappointing to see that almost all their tacos have little flames next to them to signify spicy. The meat in my taco was cold to luke-warm at best. It was flavorful, but the flour tortilla shell wasn't even warmed up, or cooked on the flat top. Even chipotle warms their shells up. Honestly I would rather eat at chipotle. So we had 5 tacos between the three of us, some chips, 2 salsas, and some queso. Along with the Margherita, and a Diet Coke, and lemonade, and it was $60! I didn't expect to spend so much in a taco place. The one redeeming quality was the service. Everyone who worked at the restaurant was super pleasant and professional. Our server was delightful, and she was Johnny-on-the-spot with the drink refills, and all our needs. I hate leaving bad reviews, but it is a nice restaurant, with a good chill atmosphere. We love Condado's. The quality of the food is always on point, and the menu never disappoints. Lately, though, the service is slipping and the most recent visit left us bleeding. Literally. It was a Saturday afternoon, not too busy. My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner. We were seated quickly, and our drink orders were filled by the same person. From what I gathered, she was tending bar and saw we had entered the restaurant, so she seated us. Having the bartender seating you also makes for a quick drink service, too. As she returned with our drink orders, she let us know who our server would be. Then she returned to her counter. Our server was average. We corrected her on our orders twice, and after suggesting we start with chips and queso, we agreed. Except she took our, "Yes, that sounds like a good idea" for "No, thank you." It took three attempts to flag her down before we were able to re-confirm we really did want the chips and queso. So, off she goes and returns quickly with our order. At this point, My wife winces and says, "Ouch!" I had shooed a fly off my leg earlier, but since the garage door-windows were up, we were sort of dining inside and outside at the same time. It wasn't long before I felt a sharp pain as another fly took a chunk out of my leg. We kept getting bit, and my wife showed me her bleeding foot where one of these flying menaces took al three layers off of her. We finished our drinks, as well as the meal and left feeling very underwhelmed. Not sure how to fix the fly issue, but I'm also fairly certain I won't be the one to worry about it. Was in the area for work and wanted something casual but good! And since it was a Tuesday a taco joint was on the list! This place has some kick butt tacos along with a killer margarita! The guacamole is very solid and I'm a huge fan of the thicker chips! My tacos were excellent and definitely fresh! Service was great and the bar tender gave me her favorites and definitely a fan of the steak tacos! You can choose from one of their creations or make your own! Which is always fun! Meh. I mean really, it wasn't terrible. They were out of some of the ingredients for 3 out of 4 of their cocktails I was about to order. I settled on the house margarita, earmarked as a house fav. It was sickeningly sweet, but hey, most people go for that l suppose. I got the gran classic (?) as my end of dinner drink, that was much better. ( l why no recommendation for that when I mentioned that I like dry cocktails from the get go. Chips served with my guac were mostly crushed to smithereens and the precious few full sized ones serviceable for dipping were sooo salty they brain said "NO MAS!" The tacos are hyped as being "very filling"; they were actually on the meager side, but at least relatively tasty. I will get the negatives out of the way, there are only three: 1. I've never had fast service. Ever. It's my fault for arriving hangry and I KNOW it's going to take forever to get waited on but it gets me every time. Do they see us? Are they deliberately not looking out way? Don't they know I'm hangry. The GOOD news is that once you fondly get your order placed you get the good from someone else REALLY quickly! 2. Their tiny drinks are good, but EXPENSIVE!!! You pay like $14 for basically a shot of margaritas. I advise saving your drinking for later and keep extra space for deliciousness. 3, I hate their high top chairs. Solid with no back = no bueno Now on to the yum.... Order the dips! We get the one with three choices. Street corn, dirty and smoked cheddar are favorites. The queso is pretty good too but the other three are superior As for tacos, get AnY of them! Seriously. I do the happy food dance with every single bite. I have been to several other locations, but super happy to see this one open. It is the nicest in my opinion, as well as the biggest. There is a huge patio out front, unlimited parking, and the inside is spacious and bright with cool murals. I placed an order ahead on the website for pickup. It was easy to navigate, build your own creations, and pay. My order was promised fairly quickly and ready in the time promised. Before I had even arrived at the location, I received a phone call asking me to check my order because they were afraid my tacos had been left out of it as they were found still in the kitchen. Wow what great customer service! Luckily I hadn't arrived yet and they were just able to add them to my bag. I was really impressed that instead of wasting time to check if my order had been picked up, they wanted to call before I got too far away! I purchased a blood orange margarita. It comes in its purest strong form, so I opted to put it over ice upon arriving home. It was plenty strong, but more sweet than a distinct orange flavor. Still good though! I also ordered two build your own peezler tacos. These are soft shell, with a layer of refried beans between a hard shell. Both were tasty but did not have enough "glue" between the two shells, and didnt have a ton of filling either. What was in them was tasty. I particularly liked the brisket one (other was chicken). Finally I did a build your own nachos. The chips taste unique and perhaps housemade. The toppings were fresh and the steak tender, however once again the toppings seemed a bit skimpy. They packaged the included queso on the side along with the added guacamole, which was nice. I still enjoyed everything but in both cases the topping to chip ratio and the fillings to shell ratio could be better, especially for the price. This doesn't mean I wont be back, because everything is so tasty, just hoping it was an off day and they'll do better in the future! read more

Hubby & I were craving some good Mexican food & ended up here. He couldn't decide what he wanted so he went with make your own bowl with pulled pork. I ordered the Lucy's Fire (chicken taco) for $5. That's a steep price for one taco that is on the smallish side. I'm not sure why it's called "fire" because it wasn't spicy. The guacamole appetizer I ordered was delicious! My hubby said his bowl was just okay. We had no complaints about the service - it was excellent. We both left there feeling still hungry. Prices are high & portions are small. read more

Hit it on a Sunday afternoon with some friends after letting some of the hype die down. First impressions is the space is nice & the garage doors let you feel like your outside when you're not. A friend ordered the chips & roja/corn salsa - not impressed. The chips were very thick & both salsas were very thin on flavor; so much so that all 3 items were left largely untouched at the end of the meal, which is unheard of with this crew at any other Mexican place. The menu was a little confusing at first but our server was super helpful in deciphering it. I got a BYO taco and a Bad Habit. Both were good...but I wasn't see what all the hype was to where there would be a multi-hour wait to eat here, especially when the tacos are averaging about $5 per. I'd have to hit it again to give it another look but meh...for the money & flavor, I'd rather hit the authentic joint around the corner & get 2x the portion & flavor. read more

It was exciting when you walk in with the art, staff, and looking around seeing the food. I couldn't wait to sit down and order(I never get this excited). The margarita was refreshing, and icy! It was perfect. The tacos are good but a little too much going on but I enjoyed all of them. The corn salsa was like a portal to deliciousness that will have you thinking about it for days. I've heard a lot about this place from a coworker so I figured it'd be nice to get some tacos, because who doesn't like tacos?? This place is pretty hip. I love the deco and open air concept of the building. Servers were very friendly and attentive which is a plus! The menu is very simple and easy to navigate. You have different pre-made meat or meatless options or you could build your own! Such a great idea! I ordered the Bubba Kush and the Braised + Confused. With some Pineapple Guac + Chips. all items came out quickly and I have to say the Pineapple chipotle honey guac was the star of the feast followed by the bubba kush. Not up to standard yet. I have visited the downtown location many times and I have ordered takeout many times since the start of coronavirus. My order was not ready close to the stated time... Over fifteen minutes late which for a workday lunch isn't good (I've never had problems at competitor Chipotle). Very hot outdoors and many others waiting. They also don't have a separate takeout line which leads to some awkwardness and difficulty with distancing. The food was good. Same as downtown. But they need to update their wait times to align with reality. I may be back if they start to improve. I'll be monitoring reviews. But right now it's a pass for me. Great appetizers and drinks, but you can definitely find better tacos in the area. I came here for the first time in a while to start branching out a bit more in the area. We ended up sitting outside because Ohio finally decided that the weather would cooperate and I think their very large patio is one of their best offerings. I would say half of their seating is outdoors seating. We ended up getting the build your own tacos, the chorizo queso, and the tomatillo salsa. The tacos were far from bad but it almost tasted like their sauces and salsas packed too much of a punch and everything else didn't have enough flavor. But at the end of the day - I built my own tacos so it can always just be an ordering error on my end. I would definitely come back if some friends wanted to go, but it probably won't knock out my usual taco place in the burbs. read more

We usually go to the Condados in Beavercreek or the one in Cincy by the Red's stadium and we've always had a great experience! I thought I would try this location because its not far from my new job. I was meeting my family after work but they ended up being late due to traffic downtown caused by an accident. I decided to order an appetizer while I waited, so I ordered chips and guac but was brought chips and queso. I didn't send it back because I was thinking maybe I did order the queso and just wasn't thinking when I ordered it, so I just smiled and said thank you. The waitress did not come back for 45 minutes (that's when my family had arrived). This was at 4:30pm and there were plenty of empty tables. They didn't seem to be busy at all. I was hoping to order something other than water and chips and eventually put in an order for my family before they arrived at the restaurant but she never returned. At first I was sitting outside and it ended up being too hot (no shade), I was waiting for the majority of the time for the waitress so I could order and ask her if I could move to a different table. She came over to the section where I was sitting and checked in with the tables next to me but skipped over me. I finally got up and asked the hostess if I could please move and she let me move to another table shortly before my family arrived. The waitress finally approached me at this point and with a forced smile asked if "I was doing ok over here." I was a little annoyed at this point though, so I just shook my head yes and smiled, but decided let it go because it wasn't worth getting mad over. My family arrived and we ordered. The food was good and it was brought out very quickly. The waitress kept the encounter with us very brief. Her demeanor seemed cold, off putting, and barely spoke to us. Usually the staff at Condados is extremely nice! I tried to smile and make the most of it hoping that maybe it would make her feel more comfortable with us but it didn't. At this point for some reason we were all uncomfortable. My family and I couldn't wait to leave. I totally understand that sometimes people have bad days, or they may not be talkative, and that's totally fine. I just think she should check in with the guests within a reasonable amount of time and try to be cordial because that was one of the most uncomfortable and frustrating situations I'd ever experienced at a restaurant. read more

Condado really dropped the ball here. My wife ordered two tacos and a bowl online. I have posted part of online order. My wife has an autoimmune disease so she can't have cheese or beans. The food was incorrectly made down to the type of salsa. She tried to ask for hostess to please remake the food according to the order. Somehow the manager had to be notified in order for an order to be remade. The manager promised that it would be done correctly and they would personally take care of it. After my wife got home, we took a look at the food and it had liquid cheese on it. For a store which highlights their ability to customize food to cater to the customer's needs; we are pretty disappointed with the service and the time wasted today. read more

Service was attentive, and the food arrived in a reasonable time. They have a few interesting Tacos that make it unique, like spicy tortilla shells and jack fruit options, all served individually in foil wrap. They also serve build-your-bowls similar to Chipotle or a custom nachos plate. Ordered a variety of items, and ALL were very disappointing. . . . various tacos, avocado dip, chips, etc. . . . . all were either poor or marginal. And how hard would it be to put the name of each taco on the wrapper of each taco when there are VARIOUS tacos so we don't have to open every one and guess which one it is, even after opening it?!?! I can't believe how uncultured this place is. I have to admit it looks very appealing, but the food tasted like it was made by an uncultured person who took a quick peek at the Taco Bell menu and tried to add some flavor (when really they just made the food very salty and vinegary). The meat was salty The "hot sauce" had as much spice as watered down ketchup sprinkled with a pinch of salt and mixed with vinegar. They added shredded sharp cheddar to my taco Their "Mexican" food was as bland as the moisture extracted from a piece of wet wheat bread that has been sitting outside for two days straight. Condado Tacos - A huge box of YUM! $10 js - Bars Near Me - Mason, Ohio

This was my first experience with Condado and it seems the overall concept is to blur the lines between authentic Mexican tacos and mainstream Americanized tacos. My experience was equal parts new wave American restaurants that strive to create authentic Mexican dishes (e.g. Mazunte), casual dining Tex-Mex (e.g. Don Pablo's and its successors), and Taco Bell. The latter might raise some eyebrows, but it's difficult to avoid the Taco Bell comparison when hard shell corn tortillas are involved, especially when they're nested inside a soft flour tortilla. Based on my rating it's obvious that I think the combination works and, yes, I'll definitely be eating at Condado again. It's worth noting that I had them delivered and, even though the order was ready and delivered super fast, it was already lukewarm when I started eating and the second half of my meal was downright cold. This isn't a complaint because it couldn't have been delivered any faster and everything was well-packaged to retain heat, I only mean to point out that it was still very tasty despite the temperature issue. As far as what I ordered, I went with a Bud Box (two tacos w/ chips & queso) that included The Heater (steak) and Sweet Heat (brisket) tacos. I also tacked on the Bubba Kush (pulled pork) taco for some variety and because I heard Condado's tacos are on the small side and figured I'd need a third taco for a complete meal. The tacos I got were actually not small at all and instead were full-sized Tex-Mex tacos opposed to the smaller authentic variant that often come in trios or pairs at your mom and pop taqueria. The Bud Box alone would have been a more than sufficient meal and this is coming from someone who has a pretty deep stomach. After three tacos and chips and queso I was stuffed and disappointed in myself for powering through such a big meal. The Sweet Heat was probably the best of the bunch even though the The Heater sounded better on paper. I'm interested to try them again except fresh out of the kitchen instead. The Heater was definitely good though and the Bubba Kush was right there in the running. All three had what were clearly quality ingredients. With that said, the tacos are a bit on the pricey side as they more or less range from $5 to $6 which seems like a buck or two over-priced even given their size. The queso was impressively good and I usually find queso to be fairly underwhelming. The tortilla chips were so-so though. They looked great but they were so greasy that they left an oil slick in the bottom of the box. Plus they were also kind of... I'm not sure if stiff or chewy is the right word. Though others report that their tortilla chips are excellent. I have to wonder if they were over fried and/or not properly drained and/or stale. In any event, it wasn't a huge deal because it's all about the tacos and so the chips and dip were pretty secondary to me. In the end it wasn't a perfect meal, but it was quite good and I look forward to trying the other tacos and especially giving the Build Your Own Taco portion of the menu a shot too. read more
