I paired it with lemon sorbet. It was a wonderful combination of sweet and tart. It was warm enough to sit out on their side patio and just relax for a while. I remarked to DH that I miss all the plants that the previous business owner had kept out on the patio for atmosphere. The current iteration is clean, but on the boring side. We love their food, so I'm overlooking the lack of ambiance for now. That being said, DH and I have been discussing recently how much we miss the kinds of places that used to have great style in their decor. Theme restaurants are more rare these days than they ought to be. They got a variety of ice creams, some common ones but also some new ones. This is the first place I ever had a chance to try the espresso ice cream, which is ice cream with a shot of espresso, and it was delicious, especially as a coffee lover and ice cream lover. Kids devoured all their ice cream, which is rare for them to do. They also serve food here, which we did not get to try but is good to know is an option. They have tables everywhere and a fountain machine and some unique teas I got to try, like their lavender tea! This was beautiful and so amazing. If you were having a special occasion, we would go to three or more different places to order the catering. I consider myself, not an expert but a decent judge of authentic Italian food. This is the spot I choose for meat lasagna and for their meatballs. I haven't tried anything else yet. We ordered their meat lasagna for a birthday party. We picked it up on Saturday afternoon at 3PM exactly when they said it would be ready. They wrote the directions on top of the cover and we followed them exactly as written. The lasagna was so good that our guests were all pleased. Many asked where we got it. I was proud to tell them I'd made the right choice by going the extra mile to Italia deli. We had 20 guests, everyone had a piece and some of our friends took a couple pieces home. We still had leftovers to put in the freezer. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I'm looking forward to going there for a whole meal so I can bring back the comfort of real Italian home cooking.

The website said 10-20min for pickup, so I thought that was perfect timing, as I was 20min away. To my horror, the system automatically put my order 55min out because I had "more than just 2 sandwiches", even though there was no one in line at the restaurant or anyone waiting to pick up an order, when I got there. Why? Well, they blamed it on "3rd party system" and the manager (Zaen?) would not even budge to start making my order right away and could only give it to me 35min later. Again, there was no one waiting in line and they could have easily started making it right away. This extremely rude manager tells me that even if I cancelled my order (which he wasn't even concerned about), and then placed a new one at the counter, they would still take more than 30min for a few sandwiches. Never have I come across such an inconsiderate manager at a place that's known to be considerate and welcoming. Thankfully for me, the other manager (Alec?), was so much nicer and instead of ignoring me like the other guy, he tried to help by fast tracking my order and guess what, it was done in less than 7min. All of it. Did they make anybody wait because of me? Nope! I've been going to Mendocino Farms for over a decade across so many different locations, and this was my first visit to this particular store. And because of this one manager (Zaen?), it ruined my entire outlook for this popular brand. How does the General Manager and the overall franchise operations team even hire such a terrible person, who was just indifferent to losing a customer that had placed an order of over $150??? PS: the online ordering system also defaulted to a $20 tip that you couldn't change. I wish I could get that money back or at least direct it all to the nicer manager.
