As a result, Dear Hubby and I haven't been close by to Little Calf to remember to stop in for quite a while. Recently, though, after a nearby medical appointment I felt like some non-dairy ice cream. It was a Saturday in the mid-afternoon, and they weren't very crowded, which worked out great for us. They always have at least four options for frozen "ice cream" without the cows' milk dairy. Having just been through an MRI test, I decided to treat myself to a small sundae. Hadn't had one in ages! Their hot fudge is outstanding! Just the hit of chocolately goodness I was craving. I paired it with lemon sorbet. It was a wonderful combination of sweet and tart. It was warm enough to sit out on their side patio and just relax for a while. I remarked to DH that I miss all the plants that the previous business owner had kept out on the patio for atmosphere. The current iteration is clean, but on the boring side. We love their food, so I'm overlooking the lack of ambiance for now. That being said, DH and I have been discussing recently how much we miss the kinds of places that used to have great style in their decor. Theme restaurants are more rare these days than they ought to be. I'm sorry for our kids and grandkids that they don't get to experience more of those kinds of visually interesting kinds of places without having to go to a theme park. I definitely enjoyed my small sundae as a wind-down from the whole MRI experience!

They got a variety of ice creams, some common ones but also some new ones. This is the first place I ever had a chance to try the espresso ice cream, which is ice cream with a shot of espresso, and it was delicious, especially as a coffee lover and ice cream lover. Kids devoured all their ice cream, which is rare for them to do. They also serve food here, which we did not get to try but is good to know is an option. They have tables everywhere and a fountain machine and some unique teas I got to try, like their lavender tea! This was beautiful and so amazing. I can't wait to come back and grab another ice cream espresso from here and maybe try one of their sandwiches. Yum!

It's my opinion that it really is hard to find a local bakery offering sweet and savory pastries freshly made with a very personal touch, they are far and few these days. This place also offered daily specials and a variety of coffee drinks, small dining area to enjoy the treasures baked and brewed daily. So many wonderful pastries to choose from, so more visits will be in the future to explore the deliciousness baked daily. She is open from Thursday to Sunday and closed Monday through Wednesday. Very friendly staff ready to guide you through the many pastries baked fresh each day. This is an incredible bakery to have close to home, it does remind me of establishments you would visit in France or Italy or other European countries. If you like freshly baked pastries from a boutique local friendly bakery then Le Herisson is the place to go to. Bravissima, I just can't say enough other than let your taste buds tell you.

It's a special seasonal treat you won't want to miss. I also took a picture of the Matcha ice. I purchased the strawberry ganache pastry and also got a Matcha ice drink to go on ice. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. I also always appreciate a self-serve water station that's so pretty and maintained. Every aspect of Le Hérisson is so elevated, beautiful, and thoughtfully curated. My only little suggestion would be to consider putting the more delicate pastries, like the raspberry ganache I ordered, in a small box rather than a paper bag. I've been to different La La Land locations all over Los Angeles, and they generally have all been…read morea somewhat good experience, mainly being based on the drinks and food vs. the experience and customer service. This La La Land cafe location, though, is the worst one of them all. The customer service and experience is always terrible and horribly long. It's NOT that other locations aren't popular like this one, it's that the baristas here use this as their hour to chat like it's group therapy. It has always been, on multiple occasions now, a shock to witness the way the workers are completely oblivious to the customers and lack any consideration, especially on speed. Today was the breaking point for me as I gave them the benefit of the doubt, as maybe the first time was just a one-timer experience. Unfortunately, it was not. Today, my boyfriend and I came by and ordered drinks and a piece of hazelnut toast. The line wasn't too bad while waiting, but what took a long time were the drinks and worse, the food. We watched as the girls making the drinks were chatting away, one with dark brownish black curly big hair with blond streaks and glasses, talking to her other coworker. It was really frustrating as they were holding onto drinks while they were finishing stories before calling out the names for them. I eventually had to ask that exact girl if she could check on my toast, as it had been around 10 minutes. She said she'd go check, and that was great....up until she saw someone she went to college with after walking 6 feet towards the back and then got into everything that was new in her life with her. After another 5 minutes, I had to ask the black girl with a bandana that she was working with to go check on my toast; as she was now doing multiple drinks at once since the other worker decided to take a 15 minute break apparently with no notice or communication to anyone. She went to the back and came back out with my hazelnut toast that I ordered a couple minutes later, and I thanked her. I also said a quick sorry to her since I had asked that girl with the two-toned hair already and knew that this girl was busy, but she nodded and said it's totally fine. Realistically, this puts the customers in an awkward position because although she might be okay with taking on another coworkers work and job, the customers aren't always thrilled to ask multiple workers where their food is when they shouldn't have to in the first place. You know it's bad, too, when the older gentleman next to me looked at me and stated how "nice" it was that I had to ask for them to check on my food for a second time, as he had also noticed that she completely disregarded her job, too. He said he'd go ballistic if he was the manager. "Me too," I said to him. Like stated earlier, though, this isn't the first bad experience here. Coming here previously consisted of the girls also talking so much to each other that they got the drinks WRONG! One of the girl baristas mentioned that the drink was made wrong as they were putting it out on the table to grab. To make up for it, they opened the lid and squeezed a half cup of chocolate sauce on top of the iced Camp Rock matcha latte I'd ordered. With La La Land, I enjoy their matcha and their food, but with these consistent terrible experiences, it has solidified my service at Makenna Coffee right across the street. All of these issues could be avoided if the workers paid attention and did their jobs. Literally. If everyone acted like this was their job and they had to get the drinks out in under 2 minutes like Coffee Bean does, it wouldn't be such an awful experience. But because there is no sense of urgency at all with any of the workers, and the lack of attention leads them to messing up the orders, then this location really isn't deserving of any business.
