The shop itself is small but clean, with a few seats inside and a little outdoor seating too. It's nothing fancy, but it's exactly what you want from a sandwich place: quick, easy, and comfortable. Customer service was great... everyone was friendly and the order came out fast. No long waiting, no confusion, just straight to the point (and delicious). I really wanted to like this and had high expectations, but I left disappointed. Two dudes were working, and when I walked in, there was no greeting or anything. I got the #2 with the dutch crunch, not enough bacon, and the bread was just not good and seemed pretty old. $17 for a medium-sized sandwich (definitely smaller than Jersey Mike's) and a small bag of chips. I would call this a hidden gem, even though it's easy to find and just right off the 101 freeway near Thousand Oaks. Had to be one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time! I had the hot turkey on toasted brown bread with avocado. My husband had the roast beef on a sourdough roll. The bread was fresh and soft and the turkey had a good flavor. My husband said that he had some stringy pieces in his roast beef. Highly recommend stopping here whether eating in or takeout. The Spot is squeezed into a space in between larger stores and you can easily drive past it. There are tables inside but it was freezing cold and it was chilly in the restaurant. It's been over 3 years since I've revisited this location, but I used to come here more frequently when I worked in the area. The place is still good and since I'm in the area, I had to get a turkey sandwich on dutch crunch. The bread is Amazing and why I really like it it here. I have been here many times and I have tried many of their sandwiches and can honestly say its a great spot. Its located in a nice area and there is always plenty parking. The service is always speedy and the staff are always willing to answer questions. Today, I ordered the Stanley Cup on the dutch crunch and with everything on it. Every single bite was enjoyable! The chicken was juicy, the spice level was perfectly medium, and the bomb sauce really makes it stand out. If you are not a spicy person test out The Gator, The 805, the Hulk, or anything else really. I always leave satisfied when I come here. The dutch crunch bread is a must here and here is a pro-tip, eat it upside down. You'll know when you get it. Called in our order for pick up an hour later. The Dutch crunch was highly recommended to us. We picked up 3 sandwiches for our road trip. The sandwiches were a little soggy on the sides when we got them but the Dutch crunch was hard, maybe too hard. We weren't fans of the bread. The deli meat was cut a little thick. And some of it was stringy and hard to chew through. I did not appreciate the pickles either. I ate the chicken salad sandwich a few hours later but I just ate the salad, the rest of the sandwich didn't survive over time. The Sandwich Spot is a very unassuming place for such a tasty sandwich. Even the lone employee provided little to inspire. But ultimately the sandwich is worth all of it and plan to keep this place in the fold. I mean everybody seems to be talking about the dutch crunch bread so obviously I had to try it too. I went with the Skywalker (turkey, avocado, bacon, cheddar) on the DC and it truly delivered. Fresh ingredients + fresh bread = winning combination! Dutch crunch can do a number on the roof of your mouth so be warned. A super stellar sandwich spot in the 805, definitely don't overlook this spot as I've been guilty in forgetting they are around as their location isn't super "in your face" based on location. Located in Newbury Park this is a great sandwich takeout spot on this side of the county. They actually are a fairly large chain in NorCal and we're lucky to have a location down south. I can't speak to the ambiance or service as I've only ordered delivery from here but the subs never disappoint. I like that through yelp you can order delivery from this spot. Yes, it's makes it pricier but it's a nice splurge when you don't want to get in your car and go through the inside ordering process. Plus these subs travel well and always taste good "to go" so for that reason it's an easy delivery staple for me. They have a pretty cool and unique menu of sandwich options. I like the names of the subs such as the lancer or the lion or the 805. Fun play on names and the menu has something for everyone, hot and cold subs. My go to continues to be the 805. I'm a sucker for the cream cheese added to subs and their bomb sauce is definitely bomb aka delicious. I'm a saucy girl so that's why their subs are supreme to me, never dry, always flavorful. And you definitely need to order the Dutch crunch type of bread, just do it, it's phenomenal. While I can't rate service from dining in, I will give credit where it's due and say that my order is always made correctly and packaged nicely - which is a way to review service so I definitely think they deserve 5 stars. Remember this is a local sandwich shop. It's no frills, not fine dining but even a good sub sandwich takeout spot can be 5 stars worthy and this place is that all day long. Unfortunately, the secret sauce is loaded with garlic. It's not listed anywhere on the menu online, so even though the sandwich was good, I got insane acid reflux because I didn't know there was going to be garlic in it. Went there a few weeks ago after reading some of the reviews below. From the outside , it doesn't look like much....but I didn't go for the appearance of the exterior. I went for what they do inside.
