There was three flies in the Cookie Monster gelato cone I bought a while back, and my friend got a scoop of nutella crunch in a cup, and there was also a fly in that. I didn't mind removing the flies with my spoon, however, what I thought would be a nice experience was not that great. The gelato melted really quickly, it was messy, really expensive, and wasn't worth it. Also, the worker from last summer that worked the mini coney cones stall by steeple chase told me they kept their ice cream overnight in a freezer for days to a week when the ice cream didn't sell. I've had many great gelatos in my life. Based on those experiences, I can say the "gelato" I had at this location can't be called gelato. I thought I was having gelato for the mood at this place, not for the taste. But since the taste was even worse than my already lowered expectation, it ended up ruining the mood When I asked for a spoon of capuccino gelato for tasting, there wasn't a hint of capuccino there. Finally made it to Coney Island after watching the Warriors movie 10000 times. As I walked across the Board Walk and dazed out while talking in all the glory of my surroundings I came across Coney's Cones! I stopped in and got a well priced and tasty Iced Cappuccino. I also picked up 2 frozen Lemonades. (Passion Fruit and Strawberry). They said they were both very good, and I definitely enjoyed my coffee. The staff was nice, they had a good selection and I would totally go back if I were in he big CI again. My only gripe is the frozen lemonades were a touch pricey at $5 each. It hits the spot if you're having an ice cream craving. On a really hot day, go for their granitas! They're basically Italian idea in a slushee form. Rude! You have to say what you want at the register first. So, you need to know the name of the ice cream you want. You can't just point and say, "that one." My niece asked what flavor "that" was and the employee just...I can't describe it but it had to do with not saying a word and giving attitude and using facial expressions and physicality to elude to "read the freaking sign." My daughter liked the blue raspberry which I'm not a fan just because she'll be walking and talking with a blue tongue. Somehow, I think that's one of the attractions of blue raspberry -just to get that blue tongue. When ordering, go to the left, put in your order , pay and then you move to the right and the staff scoops up what you have ordered. The ice cream itself was creamy, smooth, and lightly sweet with bits of what seemed to be Apple Jacks. Coming from playing frisbee and football on the sand, a big waffle cone of ice cream sounded beyond amazing. As cheesy as this sounds, I like their sign/ logo. It's simple and reminds me of something I'd see in the 1950's. That lured me in , rather than going to the big food stand where they serve everything else. At Coney's Cones, the focus is on the sweets. The first and only strike against them came right when I walked into the establishment. I was browsing the menu, taking it all in, when the cashier was really pushy about asking for my order. If I'm going to spend $5 + on an ice cream cone, I would like to take my time deciding what I want. This has happened to me before and I've completely regretted the end choice I was rushed to make. I decided on a double scoop waffle cone with a scoop of mint chocolate chip and the second of chocolate. The server actually was giving me MORE than the two scoops that I'd ordered, so for the first time ever in this city I had to tell someone that they gave me too much ice cream!
