Nice vibe and great coffee. Not a roaster, but they do pull their espresso from Demitasse which is a local LA based roaster and coffeehouse. Espresso is generally fruit forward and not overly roasted. Skip the big chains and come here. Support local. read more

Finally decided to walk over to Confidential Coffee to try it out, and I'm so glad I did! From the outside it looks pretty plain, but you step inside and the vibe changes immediately. There's a large Frida mural that greets you right away, which I loved, as well as plants placed throughout, chalk writing on the pillars (and chalk so you can add to it, how cute!), and plenty of naturally-lit seating. I went with the Cajeta Latte (iced) as I had seen it is a fan-favorite, and it was SO good! Perfect amount of sweetness & cinnamon, overall very well balanced and smooth. I also love that they have more than one option on their pup menu! I hope to come back again soon to try out some of the baked goods I've seen others rave about. Definitely a must-try spot if you're in the area! read more

Another great coffee shop in Long Beach! I normally don't like to stray away from my usual oatmilk latte, but their mazapan latte is just too good. It's not too sweet and has the right amount of the peanut candy flavor. The rompope latte is surprisingly refreshing and the orange zest they add on top complements the drink perfectly. This place would be ideal for me to study since it is spacious, has large tables and food, but the parking is such a turnoff. I don't want to study at a place where I'd have to pay for parking, or park far to avoid paying for parking. It's not expensive to park, but it still isn't worth it for me. I wouldn't come to study, but I'd definitely stop by for a quick cup of coffee! read more

I stopped to check out Confidential Coffee because I saw the rainbow flag and I wanted a latte. I liked the atmosphere and over all vibe of the cafe. The barista was nice and made my oat milk latte perfectly. It's more of a sit and sip type of cafe, but I needed to take mine to go on this particular occasion. I can see coming back to hangout with some coffee, and read or work. It was quiet and peaceful even with people sitting in the cafe talking and working. I recommend checking it out for yourself sometime! read more

I wanted coffee for my drive back to LA. The place is cute! But the drip coffee was awful: super sour. I couldn't actually drink it. Plus, the to go cup was paper so it lost its shape when I picked it up 10 mins later (I did that thing where you continually try it thinking it'll change haha), the cup lost its shape, the lid shot off into the floorboard of the passenger seat, and sour coffee went all over my console. Mazapan and Rompope are my favorite house special iced lattes. But... I thought they were served with too much ice by default. Hot matcha latte is good. Cajeta and white chocolate is ok, but I definitely prefer the items above. The iced tea is refreshing option, glass rim is lined with tajin and salt. Been here a few times now, and it is still just as great. Everyone's always super friendly there, and it still totally feels like a place you might want to hang out, though I usually get stuff to go, since I live nearby. They have a full list of normal coffee drinks for normal coffee prices, but they also have a handful of expensive ($5.25) bougie fancy drinks, which are what I generally go for - I've tried a few of them now: The first time I got the cajeta, which was pretty great. It's sweet, but not too sweet, with a lot of cream and cinnamon flavor. Clearly made fresh, and took a few minutes, which was totally worth it, because it was delicious. It actually tasted a lot like the milk that's left over after eating cinnamon toast crunch or something of that nature. On that note, though, I do want to mention as an aside: it was *very* milky. I'm slightly lactose intolerant, I can have a bit of milk, but I could tell from drinking it that it was made with quite a lot of milk. There's clearly coffee in it, I was just expecting a coffee drink with a little milk, instead of a milk drink with some coffee. That's on me, though. The second time, I tried the other one I particularly wanted to try, the peanut candy latte, and it's even tastier. I was expecting it to possibly be too sweet, but it's actually only a little sweet, which is good, but very nutty. I suppose also extra nutty because I confirmed that they do indeed have a milk alternative, namely almond, which I'm not usually that big a fan of, but it works perfectly with the peanut candy, so that's cool. I also loved the crushed peanut candy bits on top, especially. One of my favorite fancy lattes I've had! I did notice afterwards, the almond milk was an extra 50 cent charge. On one hand, I don't fault them for that, and it is totally worth an extra 50 cents to not feel mildly terrible after drinking it... on the other hand, they really should tell you that up front, if something is going to be extra, which they definitely did not that time. I'd still pay it, though. I'm updating my original review because I was just back to try their new cafe de olla - it's also, unsurprisingly, delicious. Not as sweet as the other two, so if you want something a little more like coffee, but still spruced up with extra orangey and cinnamony flavors (and a little sweet), get that one. I'd usually go for the cold, super-sweet stuff, but that's perfect for a rainy wintery day (of course by the time I was done drinking it, it's gone sunny and warm again, cause it's SoCal. Oh well.) I also got a cheese pastry this time - the pastries are from Porto's, so you already know they'll be good, and yep, it tasted just like a pastry from Porto's (i.e. totally delicious), cause that's what it was. And it was only $1.75! Do they even make money off that? Pretty sure they're about that much if you go to Porto's directly! Not complaining, obviously - it's great having a local source of Porto's pastries, even if they only have a couple things (cheese, cheese and guava, chocolate chip cookies, and the potato balls, basically the Porto's top hits.) edit: just popped back in to try their regular non-fancy $3 espresso this morning. Not nearly as exciting as the fancy stuff, but it was a very good espresso, and $3 is a pretty typical price for good espresso, which that was. Tastier, richer espresso than Rose Park Roasters down the street (which also had pretty good espresso), and had it in my hand in about 30 seconds. read more

Me and my boyfriend just moved close by and found this gem only a few blocks from us. Super cute inside and definitely somewhere you can chill out and work. The barista was very kind (not sure of their name) and even though there are only a few things on the menu, I think that's the key to making sure every drink is delicious. The Mazpan latte was perfectly sweet and my iced tea was amazing, very fragrant & refreshing. Will definitely be returning:) read more

Lived here for a year and a half now and just barely found this cute little spot directly across the street from my apartment! I'm very basic when it comes to coffee but went here with my boyfriend during this "quarantine" and had the white chocolate mocha. Oh. My. God! This is nothing short of a little piece of heaven! Have gone back every day since for this deliciousness! Not to mention the spot itself is so so so cute and cozy AND the store owner is a sweet heart! Support small business y'all, especially during this crazy time in the world! This is one I plan to support even post quarantine! Make your way over there, good vibes, good coffee, and great service! I wanted a spanish latte, but those are hard to find. Confidential Coffee had the next best thing: the Cajeta latte, which is very similar and uses cinnamon too. Doors were open on a Saturday morning before the advertised 9am, which was great because I didn't need to wait 20 minutes. Barista was friendly, not talkative, and prices seem average. The shop itself had a vibe that I know I'd have enjoyed pre-pandemic. Free apples, games, plants, water bowl for dogs, etc. A bit of a walk from my place but I'll be back. read more

OMG! My world just got alittle better now that there is "real" coffee shop in downtown LB, not Starbucks This coffee shop is absolutely hands down the best place to get your cup of Joe.. Such delicious lattes and other fab drinks with lots of our over options AND they use only local coffee suppliers to boot.. Inside the vibe is chill with some cool beats playing and with the coolest tables and chairs.. definitely original! tables and chairs They have enough of table and chairs to go around AND the ambiance is so chill it enhances my concentration!!! Based on the Yelp reviews, this place is quite new! Convenient location in Downtown Long Beach, right off the 5th street stop if you're taking the train. Amenities here are great. AC works and the wifi is strong! They take card here which is great and they have a lot of unique drinks that not all cafes have. It was a hot day and I ordered the Cucumber Green Tea and that was absolutely the right choice. It had blueberry infused and rimmed with tahine. Absolutely delicious. cute coffee shop! came here to work while i waited for my dog to be done from the groomers. their internet password is located at the front. they have a bunch of games & books. i had their tea which was really good. ended up coming back to get my dog a pup treat which was only a dollar. def recommend if you're in the area. make sure to park in the parking lot & not the street, street parking is only 15 minutes. read more

Unique little coffee shop in Long Beach. The brewed coffee was delicious, and it was very sweet that the front counter staff came up to me to make sure it was great after I sat down. It was the last cup in their carafe and was actually a bit cold, so they offered to remake my coffee as a pour over. Great service! There is a definite wood theme to the decor here- the small tables' chairs are really uncomfortable but there is a table with long benches that is much better. Usually my go-to stop in Long Beach for coffee because it's super convenient to get to, but parking can be tough!

The low rating is for the horrid and hostile service provided by one of the "baristas" The woman who attended to me did not seem to be happy therefore she had a sour attitude. No greeting upon entering or leaving the premises. Only a "what can u get for you" and a "ok" at the end. No eye contact either. She was also in her phone when I entered the store and seemed unhappy because I interrupted whatever she was doing online. She was the woman with lots of tattoos and a weird nose piercing . This occurred on Wednesday the 2nd of September at around 3:40 PM. I can't understand why would she choose to work in the hospitality business when she clearly demonstrates that she is not good at it and willing to perform her job duties with integrity and dignity. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've been here every day since it opened that the staff already knows me by my name. The owners are so nice and welcoming and seem to really know what they're talking about. I normally drink tea everywhere I go, but I finally decided to branch out and I had their mazapan latte. SO GOOD. Reminds me of my childhood. It wasn't overly sweet. I was able to taste the coffee and they topped it off with some shaved abuelita chocolate, which provided great aromatics. Amazing coffee all around. I am so excited they are finally open! I had to create a Yelp account just to give them a review! lol! Everyone needs to come here and hang out. A lot of seating. Finally an amazing coffee shop about 5 minutes away from my house! I had their cajeta latte over ice. At first I was kind of skeptical because I'm an avid coffee drinker and don't like my coffee sweet. But it was perfect. The cajeta latte was not too sweet. I could definitely taste the cajeta after taste which was great because it did not interfere with the coffee taste. Staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They have a big communal table that is great for big groups. One thing that I really loved is that they had electrical ports everywhere!! Which is very important to me because my laptop is always dying. Overall was an amazing experience. Coffee was great, staff were beyond amazing and helpful. This coffee shop is an absolute gem! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming--they truly make you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. One of the coolest features is the chalk wall, where customers can leave fun messages or drawings, adding a personal touch to the cozy atmosphere. Regardless of how busy it might be on any given day, I'm always acknowledged and greeted with a warm welcome as soon as I walk in. A simple greeting may seem like a no-brainer in a customer service environment, but not every employee greets customers when they drop in - so it's much appreciated to the Long Beach staff. The café isn't big, but the interior is very quaint and homey, so I generally prefer to snag a seat indoors when I am around. The music isn't oppressively loud like at most Starbucks in my area, so I really appreciate that as someone who is likely working, reading, or doing both when I do hit up a café. While I can't offer any insight into the quality of coffee, lattes, etc. I can vouch for Rose Park in LB if you need a low-key spot to relax or get some work done.

Update: My point proven with their response…read more Original post: I honestly wasn't going to post anything because I thought the whole situation was really weird, but I feel the owner should know how this interaction was handled. I've been to this coffee shop many times before and have never been treated this way by any of the brothers who work there, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I asked to use the restroom because I genuinely had to go. I was told I needed to make a purchase first. I was already planning on buying something, so I made the purchase. After I paid, I was STILL told I couldn't use the restroom because the employee said she felt uncomfortable. If there is a restroom policy, I understand. But I followed what I was told to do and made a purchase, so I don't understand why I was still denied. I then asked for the employee's name because I wanted to make a complaint. Asking for an employee's name is NOT a threat. It is a normal thing for a customer to do when they want to provide feedback. What I don't understand is why the situation escalated to the point where I was being kicked out simply for asking for a name. That's why I didn't immediately leave. I wanted to explain myself because I genuinely felt like I had not done anything wrong. The dad was the person I was trying to speak with because he was the only one I felt I could have a calm conversation with. I was NOT screaming at him. I was trying to explain what happened. He was explaining their restroom policy, but I don't think he understood that I had ALREADY made a purchase and that there was more to the situation. It felt like everyone immediately took the daughter's side because she said she felt uncomfortable without stopping to ask why or what had actually happened. As a business owner, you should understand the entire situation before making a decision. If your daughter says she feels uncomfortable, why not ask what happened and understand both sides before removing a customer? I eventually left because I didn't want the situation to escalate further. Instead, I was being pushed out while people were recording me and putting their phones in my face. I did not give permission or consent to be recorded, and I specifically said that during the interaction. I was not recording them during that time. But then I did have to record and I do have a recording of the moment when the mom touched me to make me leave, and what I said during that interaction is on the recording. There are also cameras at the busines that can show what happened. I should have called the police when she put her hands on me, but I chose not to. I'm a mom too, and I didn't want to put another family in that situation while emotions were high. I would have preferred for someone to simply take a moment to understand what happened. This was never about who was right or wrong. It was about basic etiquette and customer service. I also looked at the business Instagram afterward and saw that it is Latino family-owned. I'm Latina as well, so it was especially disappointing to feel so unwelcome. I'm a mom and a single mom, and I had gotten very little sleep that day. I'll be honest I did not look put together. I looked tired because I WAS tired. The way I was treated left me feeling like I was being judged based on my appearance. I'm not saying I know what was in anyone's mind, but I know how the interaction made me feel. If someone walks into your business looking tired, messy, or not "put together," should they receive different treatment? Customers deserve basic respect regardless of how they look. After everything happened, I didn't even receive my full refund. The money was thrown back to me in a way that felt extremely disrespectful. I've been here many times and never experienced anything like this. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will never be back and I will never spend another dime here. This isn't about revenge or threatening anyone. It's about basic respect, customer service, and etiquette especially here in Long Beach. I came in as a customer. I expected to be treated with respect. That's it.

I want to note - if you're someone who likes a stronger coffee please request an additional shot, as the drinks are more flavorful based on the type of latte you get. However if you're new like me and unsure, you can more than likely go in and get an extra shot and it would be no problem :) if you're a coffee person who loves supporting your local cafes, give them a shot you won't regret it. I do want to note a few things, have a chitchat with the staff very helpful and you're a learn about where they started from. The second, there is no public bathroom.
