We ended up at this place because the other congee place we were going to was actually closed on the day we wanted to go. Searched Yelp and found this house to come to. They have a decent selection of items and the things are quite well done. The Chinese deep fried dough was very good and we ordered and extra one after the initial order. It sort of has a diner atmosphere in here but the decor is more fancy with the black chairs. The servers were all older men. We ordered different congee and fried dough. We got a fish congee and also a preserved egg and pork congee. Both were done really well. The fried dough was good too, so much so that we ordered a second order. We also did one order of the beef cheung fun, those were decent too.

Solid. Came here for lunch with the family. Passed by this place when was heading to Michaels in the same plaza to pick up some stuff. They have a pretty decent sized menu but we opted for the lunch specials. Ordered the classic Pan Fried Beef Rice Noodle (12.95) and it was very good, it's got that wok hei (if you know you know). Not quite as good as Broadway Restaurant but it's definitely up there. Also tried the Sweet and Sour Chicken on Rice (11.95) which I think was excellent, nice sauce and good amount of chicken. Prices are reasonable, service is good, food is delicious, will be returning to try some other things on the menu.

This is not my first time ordering from this place and it's not going to be my last. I think this place is a bit underrated for a small business. Their congee and rolls are surprisingly good, not overly salty but with flavour. It's also reasonably priced compared to other big chain congee restaurants. I was surprised to read some comments about portion. I poured the eggplant dish out onto a plate and you could see there's quite a bit for $13. It's always a little bit more quieter around dinner time, so it's not a bad choice especially after a Costco run :)

Congee House serves more than Congee. This is more like a Hong Kong Style Cafe menu set up with lunch and afternoon tea specials. I had been here numerous times and always have an enjoyable experience. Friendly service. Ample parking. Great neighborhood restaurant for Chinese food.

This place may not look as new inside, but the food is not bad! This is the first time the food looks better than their photos on the menu. Even the French toast, on the menu it looked like it uses thin bread , not that appetizing , but when the dish arrived, the French toast was thick and looked delicious!! We always order the oyster congee and it is always fresh and hot! The rice rolls were good too, and also the ribs were amazing. The fried chicken wings were good too but I wish they were add some Sides, like even if it was just some fries included in it. This place is still considered reasonably priced.

If you're around Elgin Mills and Leslie, Congee House is a great spot to check out. They offer afternoon specials which includes coffee and tea for certain dishes that runs from 2-4:30pm. There is also lunch specials from 11am-4:30pm which is worth trying. Lastly, there's a variety of classic Asian dishes available to try. As this was our first time visiting, we wanted to try their congee and rice rolls. Our server was an old man who was quite friendly and welcoming, and was the only managing the restaurant when we came on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered two congees, and a rice roll which took roughly around 10-15 mins to come. The congees were in big bowls, and definitely a lot for me to finish on my own. There were alot of shredded pork pieces, as well as preserved duck eggs in my congee which was great. The shrimp rice noodle roll was also good, and tasted like the ones you'd get at dim sums. As there's so many different items to try out, we will definitely be back - especially after we move to the neighborhood. IG: Ayenomz

The food was average. Nothing special, just average but we did find the portions on the light side. Seating is comfortable and service was ok. However, you need to step it up to do well when you are mere minutes away for so much competition.

The price has gone up since the business owner posted the menu 5 months ago, the price $0.75-$1 increase. Lunch menu was great, just wish it came with a drink like their afternoon tea menu! The noodles was huge and delicious!

A nice addition to the plaza! Interior is clean and spacious and the service is quick as the restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered a couple things and all had that traditional hk cafe taste without being too greasy or msg heavy. In particular, I found the congee very good, lots of toppings and very smooth. I would be interested in trying other flavours as well next time. While some things like their congee and rice rolls were decently priced, I did find their lunch special rice and noodle dishes a little expensive in comparison to similar restaurants in the area as it does not come with a soup or drink. Overall though, this is a great place to come for a quick bite especially after a trip to Costco!

I have been to this restaurant 2 times in the past 2 months, both times on Sunday morning. The place is not to busy and with a few tables of regulars. Congee I find a little bit watery, so it won't fill your stomach too much. rice noodles wrap are decent and tasted freshly made. We tried the Cantonese Fried Noodles on our second visit and it tasted good. I don't taste any Msg in my food which is good.

I tried the dan dan noodle which has a spicy sesame base for the sauce. I also had the red splash which is just chili oil. This came with a fried egg and bok choy. The thick noodle had a really nice chew. The rice noodle option was great for gluten free customers. They also have some appetizers. We had the soy sauce wok fried chicken rice noodle, which is what I usually love. They had just barely enough wok hay. The duck tasted ok, but the flavour was a little mild (and I have a very simple palate). It was ok. The skin was excellent though! The YC fried was huge. Overall good taste, but the BBQ pork was a tad too sweet for me. I prefer Auric King's BBQ pork instead. The guy server was super nice and attentive. He asked for feedback and suggestions. We suggested an "all day meal" menu like the traditional hk cafe. The vibe is very 80s Hong Kong style. Very aesthetic, like Garden Cafe, who also does the same style. Check out my interior pics to see! Tables and bowls are a little sticky though lol. Overall, I might come back when they have an all day menu. I see most people ordering noodles, probably because the portions aren't as massive. As of right now, they have the white menu for non members, which is BOGO half off. Also, $30 for lifetime VIP.

The dish comes with a thick flat super chewy ribbon noodle. It doesn't look like a big portion, but the noodles never seem to end! We particularly loved the aromatic garlicy spicy oil, which was full of umami and slightly sweet. It coated the noodles perfectly without making it seem like a noodle soup. The spice doesn't hit you at first, but sure enough it comes back with a vengeance. Be cautious if you decide to up the spice levels! It comes with quite a bit of seafood - scallops, baby abalone and crawfish tails. We've never really had crawfish tails in Chinese cuisine, so this was quite interesting. Make sure to suck on the tail before you de-shell to really get all the umami, and then dip the tail back into the spicy oil for a burst of flavour. Surprisingly, the chewy texture of the seafood complemented the noodles really well. Customer service here is impeccable. We saw nearby tables with phone holders, which we suspect you can request if you want to eat and watch your videos in peace. The staff also hand out individually packaged plastic bibs and gloves to avoid the oil from slashing onto your clothes and will top up your napkin supply without asking. The restaurant has a couple of tables but noticeably, some long benches that run throughout. We were sat in the middle, and were asked kindly by the Owner to move to the end of the table once a bigger party arrived. We had no issues with this, but the Owner decided to give us free pop and apologized for the inconvenience. So nice! Little surprise - there's a Beef Noodle Special after 8:30pm on Monday-Thursday. "Authentic hand pulled noodles in slow-simmered beef bone broth". Sounds like music to my ears - can't wait to come back and try this one out.

We ended up getting the ham macaroni soup with a cheese ham sandwich combo, along with the O Street signature beef sandwich and fries from their new menu. Despite how busy it was on a Saturday, the food came out at a pretty reasonable speed, which I appreciated. The macaroni soup was just okay, very much the kind of simple comfort food that fills you up, but nothing especially memorable. I was most excited for the signature beef sandwich, but it didn't fully meet my expectations. The burger/sandwich itself was smaller than I imagined, and it only had about 2-3 pieces of beef brisket inside with marinated bell peppers and their homemade sauce. The sauce leaned sweeter than expected, which might work for some people, but personally I was hoping for something more savoury and more generous with the beef. However, the brisket was tender, which was a win... ish. Overall, still a decent spot if you're craving classic HK cafe vibes and variety, especially for a casual meal with family.
