Time of arrival was between 8-10 a.m. At 10:20 I called the office, someone was supposed to call me and reschedule because the tech was tied up. A week before Christmas, my boiler started leaking a bunch of water. I was hoping I could repair it to get us through the holidays. I contacted the company And asked them to come look because it was leaking quite a bit of water; they requested that I send pictures. I sent a picture and without even seeing it in person, they diagnosed it as unfixable and insisted that it needed a full replacing to the tune of nearly $15,000. I was absolutely horrified; I immediately burst into tears and explained it was a week before Christmas. Not only did they not offer financing but they wanted half of that upfront to even get us on the schedule and the rest on the day of installation. I was absolutely floored at the cold and callous nature of the company after being a customer for years. The secretary on the phone initially was fairly rude, but felt bad for me as I was sobbing and said she would call me in the morning with my options and see if we could get creative with financing; never heard back from them ever again. We ended up taking our business elsewhere, getting a cheaper price, and getting very reasonable financing. I have a lot of sympathy for the office at companies like this because I'm sure they get screamed at all day, but I just could not believe how we were treated; asking for 15 K when you didn't even lay eyes on the item is pretty crazy and asking for half of it upfront the week before Christmas is even crazier. They also could not give me any kind of timeframe on how early they could come out to my house and offered zero assistance with the fact that copious amount of water were leaking and how to manage it. This year, my wife and I were blessed with twins. This also means our expenses caring for a little own are multiplied. While facing a financial hardship, our furnace started leaking dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and we needed a replacement. We couldn't afford the cost of a new own and care for our babies equally. With temperatures on the decline, it was imperative that we replaced it as soon as possible. When Tyler Air Conditioning heard our story, they offered to help. During an extremely difficult and stressful time, they offered to donate their time to help offset the cost of a new furnace. Within a few weeks, a new boiler was installed. We now have heat at night, our babies are thriving, and we are living with less stress. The entire staff on board truly amazing people. Two weeks ago, they came out to fix a bathroom tub leak. I was charged $1,300 to replace the cartridge, handle, and spout. The parts cost around $250, and the job should have taken less than an hour, but they stayed for about four hours because they kept getting the wrong parts. They came back last week because the tub was still leaking. This time, they said I needed to replace the shower base where the cartridge goes and quoted me $3,400. I declined and asked them to put everything back together, but the leak was actually worse afterward. What bothered me most was the lack of transparency. I asked for a breakdown of the charges and was essentially told, "That's just what we charge." After almost spending nearly $4,700, I feel I could have had the entire tub area remodeled by another company. I also recently tried to cancel my membership and learned that it's a one-year contract and that canceling early may require paying back the discounts. That was not my understanding when I signed up. I'm extremely disappointed with the pricing, communication, and lack of transparency. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and looking for a company with fair pricing and clear, honest billing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Service Stars based on my experience.
