The ambiance is a little confusing. Looks and feels like a more upscale atmosphere, but I'm looking up at a women's steeple chase race. There wasn't a large crowd even though we had reservations they were hardly needed for a Saturday evening. Our server was very attentive and gave it his all to sell us alcohol and desserts. I hope he had more tables after we left. The fried green tomatoes were amazing. These were the highlight of the dinner for sure. I was almost against ordering them, because this is such a cliche southern pedestrian after the harvest what do we do with these unripe fruits type of thing. But, I acquiesced to my wife, because I'm not right about everything. The tomato itself was more on the bitter end. The batter was super crispy and the greens and pickled onion and aioli really worked amazingly with smoothing the bitterness for me. Entrees weren't as amazing. My wife might write a review about her more specific experience. She had the poblano and bean enchiladas. There wasn't much poblano as far as I could tell. The oddity was a load of masa in there. It's not listed on the menu. Here's where the meal really starts to stink. Baja fish tacos. My wife said I can smell the fish over here. And yeah, it was strong and they tasted fishy too. Not good.There is no specification about what type of fish this was. There were two tacos. The fish dry to boot, and the chunks were really quite big. I could'nt close the tacos in anyway. It wasn't flavorful enough to cover the fish smell and taste. And there wasn't enough sauce to combat the dryness. The elote creamed corn was really good. There was more corn than tacos it felt like. Anyway, it wasn't worth the hassle of downtown travel and paid parking. Hope your meal is better! read more

Extremely Overpriced drinks and food that didn't taste great. Service was absolutely awful. The waiter kept disappearing for extended periods of time. We sat with no drinks or food forever and the restaurant was pretty empty. We watched our drinks sit at the bar and our waiter never brought them to us. Conner's is surprisingly kid-friendly! I was apprehensive, at first, to bring my young children inside this pretty-looking restaurant at a time during the day and during the week when people wearing heels and buttoned shirts would be visiting to grab a drink and unwind. But kids are welcome here! They have a kids menu and everything. And I saw two other children at different tables while we were there. The food is good. I got the Smoked Turkey Cobb Salad, which was like a typical Cobb salad, except it included grilled turkey and grilled corn kernels. It also included sunflower seeds and pickled onions, which was an unusual but welcome addition. We also got the Lump Crab Hushpuppies, which were hot and crispy. They came with a side of lemon dressing. My kids got the cheeseburger to split, which was plenty for both of them. So keep that in mind if you have two kids who want the same thing: Just split their meal -- you'll save money. I almost forgot to mention my favorite part of the meal: the watermelon margarita. It didn't have salt on the rim or anything; it came in a skinny glass with ice and a flower on top. It was the least margarita-looking margarita that I've ever seen, but it was dang tasty. This was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is part of the Marriott, but not at all what you would expect for a hotel restaurant. Nice fresh urban ambience, good drinks, and good food! Thanks to our waiter, Erson who gave us great service. We had the signature dish of shrimp and grits with chorizo. Wow! Just delicious! Grits were a creamy base with very tender shrimp and the chorizo and sauce were a flavorful finish. Our friends had chicken and it was also wonderful. Very crispy but light with an amazing spicy honey drizzle. Sorry to say we visited this place since it had a promising menu and good review. We were slightly greeted and felt over looked and ignored. 20mins later I had to get a bartenders attention to place an order then witnessed how urgently other customers were attended to which made feel like it was time to leave. Stayed at the courtyard and dined here practically everyday for a week because of a snow storm. Desiree was quick, accommodating and overall a great waitress for our large group. Overall, I was very appreciative of the staff for making their way through the storm to provide us with dinner and service. However the only decent food I ate was the salad. The steak was chewy, the "wagyu" meatloaf was a failed mimicry of elevated dining, and the cubano fell way short of expectations. After dinner we moved to the bar and in the rare times I could even flag down our bartender Eliza, the service continued to be oddly slow for an empty bar. The delay was probably attributed to her taking multiple shots of liquor with another rowdy group across the bar. And the cherry on top was my bill. I was blindsided and got charged for double pours of all of my drinks when I didn't specify doubles or even receive anything close to double strength. Eliza definitely pulled a quick one on me and when confronted about it, didn't provide a decent response. read more

I've dined at conners 3 times now and it is glaringly clear that they struggle to serve patrons in a timely manner. The 3 times have I been at conner's, it has been nearly empty, yet I've had very slow service. The food is okay, but is over priced. The last time I went to conner's was on a Friday at 12. I was at a meeting at the grand Wayne center and my group decided to have a quick lunch at conners. We were told that all the restaurants were informed that a meeting was going on and that they might have more business than usual. We arrived at conners at 12:02. It took about 8 minutes to get seated in a place that was full of empty tables. Everything happened in slow motion. The server came over and shushed one of the people in my party because he was explaining the menu. The worst part of the experience was that at 1:15, we still had not received our food. Half of the party left to grab something before we had to get back to the meeting. I waited and had to get my food boxed up. The excuse was that they were slammed. The dining room proved that to be untrue. I think conners could be a great place to go to downtown, but move faster than a snail and make your food reflect your prices. read more

This is a great addition to Fort Wayne's downtown. Overall the atmosphere and menu tie well with the location - it is convenient to the nearby hotels and convention center, with an ambiance that feels like you are visiting a larger city. Better than a larger city though, as I have found the servers to be friendly and attentive. This is a relaxing place that feels comfortable to hang out and spend some time after a long day. I feel like it is geared toward business people and those coming or going to the Embassy for a show. It is a decent place for business lunches. The food menu is pretty standard American - as they say on cooking shows, if you're doing something simple, you had better nail it - and I think they do. Let me start with the Southern Fried Chicken. This is one of the best places for fried chicken I have been, possibly ever. It is crunchy without being overly greasy, and flavorful with tender meat inside. The dinner comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, the lunch comes with shoestring fries, and both come with a tasty crunchy coleslaw. The fries are pretty salty so I would choose a different side next time. The dinner version also came with a very spicy-sweet sauce (the silver container in the photo) and I was disappointed that the lunch did not also include that. I have also tried several appetizers; I would recommend the lump crab hushpuppies or smoked chicken wings. Dining partners have enjoyed the baked mac and cheese, cuban sandwich, and cobb salads. I'd love to see some local food specials on the menu since we have so many excellent farms in the area. I enjoyed the Raspberry Bees Knees cocktail, and several others looked interesting too. I appreciate that there is a featured section of Mocktails (no alcohol) that look flavorful and interesting - perfect for those who don't drink and want something more interesting than a soda. The only downside to the cocktails is the price. Decor here is upscale and trendy. There are several TV's that tend to have sports on them, although I have not yet spotted any tables or seats that would be ideal if you actually want to watch a game; it's more the idea that you could watch, I guess? Background music is at a good level where you can have conversations at your table at a reasonable volume. They are following the current no-straw trend with sodas and waters (although they do have paper straws available as an option). Portions are normal person sized, so you can enjoy a meal and be full but probably not have leftovers. Let's be honest, if you are staying in one of the hotels, you don't want leftovers anyway. A couple of other reviewers have mentioned that it's a bit more expensive here than they expected, and I agree with that, but I also feel this is a case of getting what you pay for; I definitely plan to return. read more
