They had installed our HVAC system in 2024 and provided excellent service at a fair price, so I knew I could trust them again. To my surprise, Connolly also installs both tank and tankless water heaters. By noon the same day, JT from Connolly arrived at my home and had the new water heater installed within 90 minutes. Do NOT use these people to fix your heater or air conditioner. They entered into a contract to fix our heater and did not fix it. When we tried to get them to come out and resolve the issue, they billed us for the visit which should be covered under the contract. They are FRAUDS. We have to take legal action now. Save yourself the frustration and pain. It actually took them several months to get a part for our heater. We were patient about that, suffering several months in the cold, but after we got the part installed in August, they want to bill us more when we finally needed the heater!?! Absolute criminals. My 20+ year old HVAC system was due for a refresh, so I set out to get at least 3 proposals. Since my existing Bryant gear had been reliable, I decided to stick with Carrier. The company that serviced my system quoted Rheem, so they were out. And the company that did a great job installing my Ecobee thermostat quoted a furnace that wasn't ultra low nox, so that was out. It came down to two factory authorized Carrier dealers. Either one would have done a great job and the quoted prices were similar. Went with Connolly because their approach was simpler. I'm pleased to share that everything went well. The Connolly team is professional, punctual, polite and executed flawlessly. Their experience really shows in the efficiency of how they get the job done. I was not around when we remodeled, so I had lots of questions this time around and the team patiently educated me as the project progressed, including an overview of the new system. After constant calls and complaints to the company, they finally sent out the tech that had worked on our unit in the years prior. He quickly realized that there was a sensor that had been knocked into the wrong position on the unit at some point. He turned it back to the correct position everything started working perfectly again. One year later, the unit is still working perfectly. This is a sigh of relief considering that the other techs sent out by the company tried telling us that the system was working as well as it could be expected (not cooling the house below 80-90 degrees in the summer) and that we needed to spend $20k to run an entirely new system if we wanted better performance. read more

I was referred to Connolly by an investor colleague and I'm glad they did. Scheduling my appointment was simple and hassle-free. I received automated emails confirming my appointment and arrival window for the technicians (8a - 10a). Around 9:45a the morning of the appointment, I gave the office a call to confirm the technicians were still coming. Long story short, there was a scheduling conflict hence why the technicians haven't shown up yet. Since I took the whole day off to be present for this work, I requested that someone still come today, thankfully we were able to get this scheduled for noon the same day. Come noon, Greyson and Bill were at my door, but unfortunately, they did not have the right tools as they were informed this was an HVAC duct cleaning and not a dryer vent cleaning. They hustled back to the office and arrived back at my home within the hour with the right tools. They immediately got to work and cleaned the dryer vent in about an hour's time. They were both respectful of our house and knowledgeable. We were very happy with the service albiet the scheduling mishap at the beginning. The whole team (Nick, Brian, Kelly, JT) over at Connolly are all excellent. We had a HVAC remodel snafu with our builder neglecting to leave sufficient clearance for ductwork. Other vendors were quoting unbelievable prices that involved foundation & framing demolition with tons of over-engineering. But the Connolly team actually took the time to listen to the situation and came up with a creative alternative using a ductless minisplit system. Saved us a ton of time & money. Now we love these units compared to the traditional duct system... the whole system is whisper quiet and we get individual room control as a bonus. When we had a manufacturer cosmetic issue come up about a month later, Nick sent a team out to replace the whole unit right away. Brian and his team did an amazing job in explaining the report and making replacement recommendations. We went with them for the job, which they just completed today, after about 2 1/2 days of work. Russ and his crew were friendly, arrived on time each day, kept the work areas clean and were super knowledgeable. Moved into our house about 2.5 years ago. All the previous owners since 1987 were kind enough to leave every upgrade to us! So our almost 40 year old ac unit is what took a dump this time. We used connolly for our furnace the died the year before so we used them again for the ac. They came out quick to take a look and we ended up needed a new one. They scheduled us for the install only about a week later. I believe the name of the guys who replaced it were john and jt. Im terrible with names. But they did a great job. Showed up on time and were done early afternoon. They did everything with zero mess left behind and the unit seems to be working great. Chris came out yesterday for an emergency service call. I was so happy they were able to fit me in. Our AC was not blowing cool air and it was a warm day. He spent two hours working on our unit and diagnosed a possible leak. He got the system up and running cool. Chris explained everything in great detail. He came back today to put dye into the system and more coolant, and spent two more hours working on it. Chris goes over and above to make sure everything is ship shape and teaches as he goes. He doesn't leave until his high standards are met. The pricing was reasonable considering all the work he did. We had Russ and Colin relocate our existing HVAC unit. From getting the quote to having them do the work was only a few days. We had planned to have the piping come out of a certain area of our roofline and come down onto one wall on the side of our house. Unfortunately, upon getting into the attic they weren't able to access that area but they worked with us to examine the other possible placements and find the best solution so we could put the unit where we wanted and keep the piping on the wall as neat looking as possible. They ended up having to come back a second day for a couple more hours to finish it off because it was more work than originally expected, but we weren't charged any extra beyond what was originally quoted. The text alerts /reminders when they're coming are nice. The new plastic base and pipe wall cover they installed are nice heavy duty plastic. And they added in a filter that we were missing to help keep the unit running well. Very reasonable pricing and the best value we found after getting bids from a few places. The owner is a stand up person. There was an incident involving one of their company vehicles. The accountability, communication, and willingness to resolve was appreciated. What could of been a stressful situation was not due to Mr. Connolly's professionalism. If anyone has an issue with this company, I strongly encourage you to simply reach out to the owner. HIGHLY DISSATISFIED WITH CONNOLLY HVAC - BE CAREFUL This company cost me at least $2000 in rebate on a heat pump water heater in 2022 and refuses even to reply, let alone resolve. They delivered a unit that did not meet an important condition I specified; replacement took two months. The then office manager later informed wrongly that I as customer had to apply for the rebate. Another 5-6 weeks elapsed before I learned that this person had been terminated and that Connolly as contractor should have initiated the request for rebate; customer cannot do it. By the time others acted in Oct, the TECH organization providing the rebate had exhausted its money. Connolly's delays, plus wrong information on who was to process the rebate, likely allowed the money pool to be exhausted before formal request finally processed in Oct-Nov 2022. Timely filing, even in Jul 2022, likely would have obtained the rebate. My 10/2022 letter to Norman Grimes, owner of Grimes Green Building Services dba Connolly HVAC, was ignored. My follow-up 8/2023 email, with other details, also was ignored. This, despite phone follow-ups with the new office manager. The TECH rebate was a material benefit that should have attained, reducing my net cost. Connolly's bad handling precluded my getting this rebate. Sales rep Brian Pult, mentioned favorably in other Yelp reviews, did not reply to my lengthy 7/2022 text message and did nothing to help ... has been "AWOL." Connolly's failure to engage in any way, even to acknowledge my issue, should be a red flag to potential customers. If they did this to me, what might they do to others? I now am filing a formal complaint with the CA Better Business Bureau. I gave Connolly prior notice that they also ignored ... maybe they thought I was bluffing. The completed work itself is not at issue; their mishandling of the rebate is. Deal with Connolly at some peril; expect communications issues with owner and sales rep. If you plan to get any applicable rebate on a project, nail down who is to do what, when; get definitive agreement on this. And, ensure they do not seek a deposit greater than CA law permits ... as they did with me. read more

These guys were the first to message me and talk with me on the phone. Additionally, you could tell from the message that they actually read my initial message rather than sending back an automated statement. +1 on that. To give some context, there's a seemingly intermittent odor coming from my mom's air vents. It was awful over Thanksgiving, but now it's seemingly gone. My concern is that someone comes over, takes my $69 for the diagnostic, and then says "sorry, we couldn't find anything." This would of course force me to try and call another HVAC professional to get a second opinion. If the second party were to find an HVAC-related problem and fix it, I think it's fair to say that the first company would owe me my $69 back, correct? For example, I've experienced this same issue where a Honda dealership couldn't find an intermittent issue with my transmission. I got charged a diagnostic fee, they found nothing, and another mechanic had to find and fix the issue. I gave the paperwork from the other mechanic to Honda, and Honda refunded me the diagnostic fee, acknowledging that it's an issue that they should have found in their own checks. This is the sort of security that I was looking to have in hiring a new company that I don't know and have never worked with before. When I asked her, she said something to the effect of "yes, in that type of scenario you would be refunded." I think to myself, OK, great. Is this documentation available on your website somewhere, or could it be given to me in writing? This is where the whole conversation went sour. I very quickly realized that this very polite person was no longer that person. They were no longer listening, and started talking over me, saying that they are probably not the right company for the job. She talked about how amazing her technicians are, how she's covering for someone who's getting open-heart surgery, and how they're a family-owned business, and how she no longer felt right about this job because I was asking for things in writing. If she were willing to give me the verbal agreement, I didn't see any harm in asking for that type of assertion in writing. Honestly, if she just said it existed on the website, I wouldn't have even checked - in my head, this is a basic common sense thing to provide. I'm just doing my best to be an astute customer and check off some basic check boxes when you're looking for a company to hire for potentially very expensive work. This place is well-reviewed, so I wouldn't recommend anyone against using them. Just be aware that you shouldn't ask for anything in writing from them - they don't like that. read more

I just completed a project with Connolly. They've installed my mini-split air conditioner for my bedroom. First of, Brian was very quick to understand the problem we faced and suggested different options - ducted dual zone, ductless mini-split single zone or multi-zone. We went with mini-split single zone that met our requirements and budget. Compared to other vendors, Brian suggested best location for the in-wall unit and i really liked his approach. They also offered competitive pricing. On installation day, we had Nela and Raul promptly showed up and started the work on time. They analyzed our house/bedroom and attic and suggested different options for installation. I really liked their approach as they always consulted before making any changes and they considered not just installing but installing it right. Its important to have installers like them who realizes that they're not just installing A/C but actually adding value to the home. They went beyond to make sure that we are fully satisfied with their work and never took any short cut to complete the work as soon as possible but rather took their time to install it correctly and completely. One star because after 3 weeks I FINALLY got a new heater and looks as if things are sealed properly. This is my issue w/ them: So...I had an appt. to get a new heater installed 1/1 or 1/2. They never called or showed up. I left a v/m the evening of 1/1 asking the status. Never heard anything till 1/4 when Stacy called me back and seemed to have no info regarding my missed appt. (during this call no new appts were made..) Four days later I get a call saying they could come in another 5 days... Day 1: So, Nick and Andrew finally came 1.5 weeks after my initial appt. My issue is w/Nick. Twice he opened my bedroom door WITHOUT knocking! I could've been butt naked...the first time was because he needed room to move the furnace around the corner, which is fine but obviously you need to knock!?! 2nd time I was lying down and he just opened the door. I turned and just looked at him. He said, "Oh, hello. I just need to plug this cord in." I was shocked and responded, "Okay.." No knock, no "I'm sorry." Day 2: I shut my bedroom door, and briefly went into another room. I came out and my door was wide open! I said, "You needed to go in there again?" Nick says "Oh, I jus needed room to cut something." He could've turned himself the opposite direction (down the hall) to cut whatever it was he needed to cut. I didn't have an issue w/ Andrew because he has some manners and knows how to knock. Apparently, Nick has no home training and doesn't know boundaries. WTF? read more

Our 9-yr old gas fired furnace somehow stopped giving us warm air over the weekend of January 6-7 when outside temps were in the high 30s or low 40s, inside temps were low to mid 50s without heat. We were freezing. Techs from Connolly were able to come before noon on Monday 1-8 and fixed the problem quickly for a very modest fee. I highly recommend this company as one that's very responsive, charges only reasonable rates, knows what they're doing, etc. I can't say that about too many service companies in the East Bay but Connolly truly is worth using. read more

From the first call for an estimate to the completion of a 3 head mini split install, this experience was top of the line. Victor showed up on time, answered my questions and provided advice then had an estimate in my hands in moments. Sold me an upgraded Carrier model, but the inexperienced installers could not figure out how to install so they installed a substandard model air conditioning unit. No follow up.
