My husband and I needed to get our ancient HVAC ducts replacements since they were full of holes. John from High Performance referred me to Tri-City as the only company that he'd trust to do the work. Let's get real. It's really difficult to find companies that will do honest, quality work on your house. I'm sure we all have stories of not so great experiences. HVAC work is expensive so getting it done right is paramount due to the cost of the investment. To sum up our experience with Tri-City: this was one of the top experiences my husband and I have ever had with any vendor doing work on a home in our entire life. In an effort to do some due diligence on my part, I contacted 2 other HVAC businesses which had top ratings on Yelp in my area. Tri-City and these other 2 HVAC companies all met me in person to do look around to quote the work. I took many notes on each of the visits to record what each of the companies was recommending, along with other professional tidbits that they shared to demonstrate their knowledge. Selecting Tri-City as a vendor was a total no brainer for us. From the get go they were friendly, forthcoming, honest (which is so key), and professional. Out of all the vendors they were the only ones willing to REALLY look around in an effort to assess the work properly. They pointed out a few things we hadn't even noticed about our ancient system. From the beginning of our meeting it was clear they knew what they were doing and what they were talking about. With each of the 2 other top HVAC companies (which I won't name in this review), I had caught them being dishonest in their assessments. Each company lied about certain things in an obvious attempt to upsell work. Queue major eye rolling. It was really entertaining to see them suggest work be done which didn't make sense or make up lies about current/upcoming restrictions of what we can/cannot purchase in our county. When these lies came out I did my best to put on a poker face/act normal even though it just didn't make any sense. So although the other company's quotes were lower than Tri-City I didn't trust their estimates/quotes and knew I'd have to deal with major BS once work commenced. The likelihood I'd get surprise additional costs was pretty high which ultimately made all of the quotes even in cost between all 3 companies. The used car salesmanship attitude from these companies which were supposed to be "5-Star" companies only solidified our decision to hire Tri-City. Tri-City never attempted to milk us as a customer and we both greatly respected their transparency. They're real honest businessmen who stand by their work. That decision did not disappoint! Since we had asbestos wrapped ducts the abatement company Tri-City teams up with came first to take out all of the old ducts. Just like with Tri-City the asbestos company was professional, on-time, and clean. The work was done well and I appreciated that the company really made an effort to be careful with the dry wall around some of the wall vents. We were concerned that we'd have to do major patch ups of dry wall but in the end didn't have to b/c of how meticulous they were. Tri-City came in each day, completed quality work, and kept me abreast of their progress. When my husband requested pictures of their work in our crawl space they happily did that with no questions asked. They went out of their way to pick up new filters for us as the ones we had weren't optimal for our system (which we didn't know). Also they did an incredible job installing 2 new wall vents in the bathroom which is finally allowing heating/cooling into our bathroom! The caulking was done so well. The sign of a really great business is when they leave your home as clean or cleaner than when they came in. Each day Tri-City left our home spotless throughout the multi-day project. Our system is working so much better with the new ducts. If we ever need any installation work done in the future we will not hesitate to reach out to Tri-City for help. I don't know where to begin with this fantastic business. My problem with HVAC companies is I never know 1) who knows what they are doing and 2) who I can trust. And the stakes are high because the work is expensive! After 20 years in this house, I can finally say "Problem solved." Tri-City has been exemplary in all aspects and I would place them in the top tier of any business I've ever dealt with. Let me say first how well they work in conjunction with John of High Performance Heating & Air; these are the only two HVAC businesses you need to know (HPH&A for Service/Tri-City for Install). Look up John's company on Yelp and be blown away for good reason. He's the only one I trusted to do multiple repairs on our ancient system over the years. And HE recommended Tri-City to us for the replacement work. I find the best tradesmen usually associate with the best, so it's not surprising Tri-City delivered the goods. Their relationship with High Performance is like a feedback loop between Service and Install, so there is continuous improvement and feedback about manufacturers, quality, problems and troubleshooting. Our initial contact was with Stephen (co-owner), who was kind, responsive and communicated quickly and clearly every step of the way. David (co-owner) and Jacob did the original estimate and ultimately the install as well. They are knowledgeable, professional, thoroughly competent, efficient and friendly. As John said before the process, Tri-City may cost barely more than another company, but it is worth it. I didn't get another estimate for comparison since I knew I would use them, but if it is more expensive, I'm certain the value-add is there. I even appreciated when I asked David about cutting cost in one place by not adding one recommended piece and he politely said they couldn't do the job then, because it would be inferior work and nothing they could put their name and reputation to. But we weren't ready to spend the money, so we deferred. When our heater went out again just before Christmas, we'd had enough, and Stephen made it happen. In two days, David and Jacob were on site and had us heat in one day. Over the next two days they completed the entire furnace/AC replacement, including coaching me up on the Nest thermostat. As they were concluding, I mentioned the issues I've had with hot/cold rooms, which is more about flow and ducting than the original scope of work for them. Over time, we've developed a bizarre ritual of which doors must be open/closed to get heat to the house in the right proportions. I even thought we might have to move at some point as we couldn't get warm in our master suite. So they came back for 1/2 day, adding dampers and ducts in the attic and checking flow at the registers. Combined with the more powerful blower they had already installed, it's a game changer. What do we have to show for the money we were so reluctant to spend? We have brand new, better furnace/AC units; another air-inlet in the ceiling for higher flow; air filters relocated to the ceiling vent grates instead of in the attic; a higher and better distribution of flow within the house which makes it uniformly comfortable (finally); a programmable Nest thermostat; most importantly, a company we can trust to come back and fine-tune as needed. I can honestly say now, money well-spent. Now I wonder why we waited so long! read more

Our air conditioner was broken when we returned from vacation during the recent heat wave. Tri City was recommended by High Tech Heating and Cooling that came out to repair our air conditioner but instead recommended a new one since it was 30 years old. Steve from Tri-City sent out David and Justin the day after our telephone call. They inspected the furnace and air conditioner and Steve gave us a quote the next day. After we accepted the proposal, David and Justin returned the following week to install the new system. They were extremely respectiveful of our house rules of wearing masks and no shoes in the house. They did an excellent job and kept the house very clean and vacuumed any dust or dirt they had caused. They spent extra time with us, installing the NEST app on our phones so we could run the system remotely when needed. My heater/air conditioner was 44 years old and wasn't going to last much longer. When the weather was mild, I had Tri-City install a new HVAC. The workers are excellent. They had to open the walls to install a new refrigerant line, and they left absolutely no mess. That so seldom happens with workers. They were very friendly and explained what they were doing and why. I can't say much about the HVAC itself because the weather is so mild right now. The air conditioner has come on only once for a few minutes. It was so quiet! Very different from a 44-year-old monster. Zero minus 2 stars for Ti-City. On 8/10/23 Chris of Tri - City Heating and Air-Conditioning didn't seem to know why the motor they put in last summer blew out on my Lennex AC which was less than three years old. I called the my electrician who showed up immediatly and confirmed it wasn't caused by an electrical surge as the technician (Chris) claimed in order to wigle out of the warranty. The unit runs on a dedicated circuit that he tested in his presence. Then I learn the parts are on back order and which point he screams "do you want the parts or not." Today (9/5/23) nearly a month later the parts come in. They had made no attempt to get the parts from other sources nor did a manager call me back even once regarding my concerns. read more

On July 13, 2022, the compressor blew out in the 17-yr-old Carrier package unit on the roof of my duplex. It's a rental property and happy tenants are very important to me, so I needed to get this taken care of as soon possible. The first HVAC contractor I contacted for a proposal wrote a too-vague scope of work, never mentioned the need for a curb adaptor, and said the earliest they could start work was August 19, more than a month out. Steve Culcasi at Tri-City Heating and A/C in Antioch was recommended to me so I asked him next. And Steve worked late in the evening to give me a proposal that specified exactly what would be done: remove old unit & dispose of it, supply and install new Trane package unit (crane lift), new disconnect and whip, new gas cock and flex, clean the condensate traps and install unions so drains can be accessed for maintenance in future, supply the correct curb adapter, fix an existing issue with the condensate lines, et cetera. Best of all, they were able to start work on August 2nd as soon as the parts came in. It was finished the next day, August 3rd. I am absolutely delighted with the excellent work that the Tri-City HVAC installation team did - David and Jacob. They were polite, professional, efficient, and meticulous about their work. We recently replaced our old HVAC system with a new one. We have a two-story home with vaulted ceilings, so the upstairs is usually at least 15 degrees higher than downstairs during the summer. We had to set the thermostat in the 60s at night just to be able to sleep upstairs. We got four quotes from four different HVAC contractors and received four different recommendations for how to solve our problem. Trust me, it's not as simple as replacing your heater and AC. Systems are much more complicated these days, and different contractors have differing levels of experience and knowledge, so DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!! Steve with Tri-City is very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. He gave us a quote and spent time explaining his recommendations for our system. He was willing to answer all our questions and freely gave us contact info for prior clients who had systems similar to what he recommended for us. We talked with all of them and did extensive research on our own. In the end, we chose Tri-City. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable, the quote was one of the lowest we received. Technicians Jacob and David arrived on time and did a fantastic job removing our old system and installing the new one. They both were very knowledgeable as well and pleasant. Their work was very clean, which is important to us. The replacement took three days to complete, so they took their time and made sure they did it right. Beware of contractors who say they can slap in a new system in one day. I can say with complete confidence that Tri-City took the time and care to make sure the job was done right. Our new system runs perfectly, is quiet, and has increased air flow. I highly recommend Tri-City. They are knowledgeable, will get the job done right, and the pricing is very competitive. Over the past couple years we've had to add refrigerant to our AC system. We were aware we needed to bite the bullet and replace the 24-year system. Without going into how I received Tri-City's name as an exceptional referral, I have found Tri-City to be one of the top vendors I have had the pleasure to work with all of my years of calling on vendors. As a former commercial property manager, I have encountered many vendors (with no shortage of HVAC vendors). Try-City was extremely professional, knowledgeable, clean, friendly, etc. In a field of companies just taking people's money because their "flux capacitor" is broken, Tri-City is a breath of fresh air. They finished the job early, and for less than they quoted. Seriously, when is the last time you had a vendor finish early and adjust your price quote accordingly? I read the 1 star reviews about Try-City, and I say ignore those. There will always be 1's and 5's. So you need to go with what is in the middle. Except in this case, the majority are 5's. We have used Steve and Dave twice and both times I felt I got more than my money's worth. They went above and beyond, especially the last visit. We turned on the heater for the first time this season and it smelled like something was burning. We called Tri-City to figure out what was wrong. It appears like an old filter was placed in an "odd place" and it choked the blower. They took out the dirty, disgusting filter and replaced the blower. They could have just left at this point, but they wanted to make sure we weren't going to have other problems and checked all our intake vents. Sure enough, they found other issues and made recommendations on things we could do on our own. It didn't cost us much money to do these things on our own. They certainly could have charged us more for the additional service, but they didn't and were very forthcoming. They're great guys and they did a great job! I will definitely use them again. The owner Steve recently came out with his guys and was very professional and of course the technicians he sent out very helpful in explaining issues we had. Only issue is, he is always busy! To add insult to injury I can't say enough about the incompetentacy of the work that was done on my 90% 3 stage modulating system. Tri City came out in Sept and supposedly changed out the heater coil (BIG $$$$) because of an air flow problem. To my surprise they did NOT change out the heater coil at all....They replace the AC coil which is totally different than the heater coil, aka heat exchanger. Today I had a knowledgeable company called Blue Star come to my home and cleaned the Heat Exchanger/Coil. Now I have a fully functioning system except for the EAC Tri City took, along with my washable filters with them. If will take close to 2K to have that replace. Never use this company. They have no professional knowledge on high end systems or ethics. When asked to return my equipment, they refused to even return my calls. Thus this review and a complaint filed with the BBB. read more

Well the condenser they fixed when out they next day. I was not upset because when they fixed it they told me it was going to go and start thinking about a new one. Steve the owner worked with his crew and got me a new system, then installed in Monday(only 4 days later). They tore out the old stuff and not only put in a great new system, & fixed an issue to more cool air into the "hot room" but left it looking clean & shiny like a new toy. Like most people, I only decided it was time to fix my air conditioning during the hottest and busiest time of the year for HVAC companies. I originally went on Home Advisor to look at company ratings, and ended up being spammed by several companies I didn't even look at or request contact from. I ended up using one of the company's free diagnostic services, but I felt like their estimate was going to be ripping me off. In comes Tri-City Heating and Air Conditioning. Steve came out and checked my system without charge, giving me a great estimate and making me feel like he truly cared about his work. His guys came out a few weeks later and replaced the parts that needed fixing quickly and professionally. I felt at ease the entire time they were in my house. After doing a lot of research and getting estimates from multiple companies and seeing how each company approaches the job of selecting the right equipment, sizing, and putting in a new HVAC system for a 2 story house, we chose TRI-CITY and are thrilled we did. When Steve came out and reviewed our old system and made his recommendations he explained everything in a way that we could understand and he quickly built trust with us and HE DELIVERED! It's been 4 months since the installation and this winter has been the most comfortable we've experienced in the 10 years we have lived in our home. TRI-CITY put in a furnace, blower, air-conditioner, new water heater, and a new Thermostat that has a really cool choice of background colors so it blends in with our home décor. They also added an additional air intake to improve return air flow and sealed up the upstairs intake and all the floor vents. I purposely waited to write this review to see how we would like the new system. We couldn't be more pleased and our utility bills are down compared to last year as well. I cannot stress enough how wonderful the installers were. Jacob and David are top-notch! And the owner Steve really showed he cared that everything went smoothly through the whole process which only took 3 days. These guys are superb. Very professional, very concerned and highly responsive to the customer. I used them 5 years ago to replace the heating and air ducts in my crawl space. They did a fantastic job. I finally got heating and air conditioning to the far side of my house for the first time since I had moved in 9 years before. Then, recently, 5 years later, I had an issue in that crawl space that involved both the plumbing and the ductwork. The plumber was going to charge me like $1800 to do a complicated fix. I contacted Tri-City, who assessed the issue, came out, fixed the problem in under 2 hours, and didn't charge me a dime. They were on time as scheduled, clean, and kept me completely informed about what they were doing to fix the problem. And they completely fixed it. Okay I needed advice on whether to replace my ~12 year old HVAC system since the furnace is in the attic and I am planning a re-roof soon. After seeing all the 5 star reviews I wanted to use the service of TRI-CITY Heating & Air-Conditioning for a small problem. The heater I have stops heating after 64 degrees, so I gave them a call. I described the problem and the person on the phone told me that there is a diagnostics fee involved for the first visit. The cost is 100 dollars but will be applied against any repairs. ( The person didn't tell me his name, he was just asking for my name). My assumption was that it might be related to the thermostat. I asked in case he needed to replace the thermostat, how much it would cost me. He said he cannot give a diagnostics over the phone. I was telling him that I am not asking for a diagnostics, I am just asking what he is charging for a replacement of a thermostat. His answer was very rude. He: "a 1000 dollars. I don't know, have a nice day" And he hang up. If this person cannot handle his phone conversations professionally, how will he have his work done professionally? read more
