Purchased a Carrier furnace from ACS in 2012. On Tuesday, my system would not turn on. Called ACS Tuesday evening and spoke with Joe, who was very knowledgeable and helpful. After several minutes, Joe was able to narrow down my issue to a likely faulty condensation pump. He scheduled a technician for the next day, Wednesday at a price of $85.00 for the appointment. On Wednesday, Caesar came to the house within the scheduled window. After a short period of time, Caesar confirmed what Joe had suspected, that the condensation pump was shot and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, Caesar did not have a pump with him, but was able to quote me a price of $311.00 for the pump and installation. At that time I asked if ACS would install the new pump if I was able to supply it. He spoke to the office, which confirmed that they would install my pump at a labor cost of $105.00. I was able to find the exact pump at my local ACE Hardware for $65.00 (so yes, ACS was charging me $206.00, $141.00 more than I paid for it). Now I understand markup, as ACS needs to make money, but a 217% markup is highway robbery. Regardless, Caesar told me to call ACS as soon as I was able to purchase the pump, and the office would schedule Jose to come by and install the pump between 1-4:00pm that same day. So, given the high temperature and the fact that my wife has MS and the heat wreaks havoc on her body, I dropped everything to go purchase the pump, which I did before 11:00am. I then called ACS, as instructed, which confirmed that Jose would install the pump and my AC would be up and running by 4:00pm. At 2:27pm, I received a call from ACS informing me that Jose would not be able to make it that day, but would be there first thing Thursday morning. When I asked if there were any other options for Wednesday evening, given my wife's medical condition, the ACS attendant's response was "I understand" (she could not possibly understand unless she is dealing with this horrible, debilitating disease), and that nothing could be done. Okay, so we scheduled Jose for the next morning. At approximately 8:15am, Jose showed up to install the pump, which he did, within an hour. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and tidy, and most importantly, the AC unit was working beautifully. And then came the bill...$230.00. Not the $105.00 I was quoted the day before by the ACS office. So, I spoke with the ACS office to inquire as to whether a mistake was made, and of course I was told "no, no mistake" and that the additional cost was due to a new PC pipe to replace the one that ACS installed in 2012. Now I understand that perhaps a new PC pipe was necessary, and I appreciate the ACS technician wanting to ensure that the system be in the best possible operating condition, but an additional $125.00 for a 2.5' PC pipe? So then I asked if the $85.00, that I paid for the attendant to come out and essentially confirm what Joe had told me the night before, would be applied to the new $230.00 bill. I was again told "no". So, all in, I paid ACS $380.00 for the installation of a $65.00 condensation pump. All of this on top of the fact that I am (was) a loyal ACS customer, having paid ACS several thousand dollars for my Carrier furnace. So let's review, clear price gauging, complete disregard for my wife's medical condition, and clear lack of appreciation for my loyalty and business. All of this said (apologies for the long story), I will no longer be giving my business and my hard earned money to ACS Air Conditioning Systems. Joseph came out the next morning and within minutes of me describing the condition, knew exactly what had failed. My thermostats were on cool but not generating any cold air. I went outside to check the AC unit and the fan was not working. It was a hot day, so I looked up Air conditioning repair and chose ACS because of good reviews, plus they were family owned and in business over 10+ years. Joe was technician that arrived to give me a full diagnostic and price quote. I believe that I'm a good judge of a person and I immediately could tell that Joe was very experienced, not trying to bs me and just a nice guy overall. It took all of maybe 10 minutes to show me that the capacitor was bad. I looked at it and it was obvious that it had blown up. I said "are you sure that's it." Our AC unit stopped blowing cold air rather suddenly during the recent heat wave, and I had three separate HVAC companies come check it out. The first said there was a block in the coolant circulation system and would cost ~$4000 to fix and recharge. The second said there was a leak, and they'd have to do extensive testing to detail the problem, but it would likely be an expensive fix. Then Joe Allen from ACS came out, first thought there may be a leak, but then dug a bit further and found a rodent had chewed through the wire powering the low pressure valve in the AC unit ... fix was $230. He also tested the system, gave us a thorough explanation on the results, and recommended we just monitor the performance of the AC before we do anything else. Our AC went out last month. We initially obtained diagnostic info from another provider, and we were told our AC has a leak. The unit is old, and the refrigerant for our AC has been banned by Murica. We obtained 2 quotes from two other companies before reaching out to ACS. The quote we received from ACS is much more affordable than the other two, and we went ahead and requested their service to replace and install the new AC. The installation took three days because we have 2 levels, but all in all, it was pretty quick. The AC was working on day 2, and they pretty much just ironed out and cleaned whatever was needed on day 3. We are happy with the service from ACS, and the installers were all cool dudes. Would I recommend them? This is my first experience dealing with an AC replacement. I thought the whole process i dealt with was pretty difficult as it took a bit of research just to give you an idea of how much the total cost would be and what companies are out there that you can trust, depend and work with before making a purchase as it does not just involve spending a few hundred dollars. I'm baaack... Our carrier heat pump that ACS installed 3 years ago decided it needed a "timeout" while I was away. Left the house with it running on the cooling function, came back a couple of hour later to find it off. It has functioned flawlessly up to now. Anyway, I called in the AM and got a noon appt, and then a call back that another tech (Nacho) would be able to come out sooner. Nacho found the problem quickly, a blown fuse in the 24V control side. My HVAC system went out in my condo last year and I started getting quotes to have it replaced. I was shocked by some of the initial quotes that I was getting (not in a good way), and then came to ACS where I was given a much more reasonable price. They did a great job, on schedule, no hassle. I recently had ACS install a Carrier HVAC system (furnace+A/C) in my house. From start to finish, they did a wonderful job. Bid: After my initial call, Doug and Justin promptly came out to estimate the job. They arrived on time and quickly and efficiently examined the entire existing system including existing ducting under the house and in the attic (other contractors were not as thorough in getting an idea of the existing state of the system). Using what they learned, they prepared an initial bid that clearly explained our options and what each option would cost. They also adjusted the bids several times to incorporate our feedback. Install: ACS is a union shop and the installers, Darren and Michael, were friendly, well-prepared, and really knew their stuff. They did a great job, including making sure that the house (particularly the hardwood floors) was kept as debris and damage-free as possible while flawlessly installing the system. They showed up when they said they would and worked hard all day to get the system finished by the projected deadline. Two great guys. On final inspection, the install met nearly all of the county inspector's qualifications. Darren and Michael came immediately (i.e., the next day) to resolve the one or two trifling details that the inspector found. In addition to setting up reasonable financing terms and preparing the paperwork for us, Doug came back out after the job was finished to help with preparing refund claims for the union and PG&E. My experience with ACS was like a breath of fresh air (no pun intended) After getting bids from several companies where representatives were not punctual and took days and days to submit unclear non-itemized bis, I had given up on the Air Conditioning industry. I was amazed when Ronnie showed up 3 minutes before he said he would, and after a careful inspection of my property and a lengthy, patient question-answer session with me to assuage all of my concerns had a (very reasonable) bid ready for me within 2 hours. His crew was able to come to my house 3 days after we accepted the bid, and they too showed up a minute or two before they said they would. My A/C was no good due to refrigerant lines leaking underground. After "interviewing" 4 contractors (2 Carrier/Payne dealers, 2 Bryant dealers), I narrowed down to 2. I almost went with another company, but after speaking to Ronnie about the HERS test, I decide to go with ACS and I'm happy I did. FYI, ACS has the second lowest bid. It's also worth mention that ACS is the only company that's willing to give me a quote on AC w/o furnace, others refuse to quote on the AC unless I replace the furnace as well. But nevertheless, I ended up having ACS replace the 30 year old furnace along with A/C. Ronnie is very accommodating to my concerns regarding running new refrigerant lines. But it turns out no sheetrock was cut open thanks to Joe & Jose, so I'm quite happy about that. Joe is great. He is extremely patient with all my questions. Questions like "will you purge the lines w/ nitrogen to keep the inside lines clean?", and "what method do you use to adjust the refrigerant?" ..... (yes, I did my homework to ensure proper install). Joe really knows what he's doing. He also pointed out that the vent register in the kitchen was installed in reverse because the air is supposed to be blowing downward, not upward and he fixed it. Despite the miscommunication regarding lineset covers, Joe came back out today and installed the hat channel. It's definitely not as easy as it looks because of the tight space. Also with the downspout and window frame getting in the way. But Joe managed to pull through with Justin's help. Now it looks so much better. Choosing a HVAC contractor to replace your A/C can be stressful. Been there done that. I can say with confidence that you can rely on ACS for good work & reasonable price. read more

Recently had an AC issue for my HVAC system in new home. Every aspect of what you would expect from good business was met. From my inital conversation with the receptionist to the Service rep that came to diagnose my problem and fix it. Darren was extremely helpful in a thorough diagnosis. Took the time to troubleshoot and pinpoint what the problem by evaluating all components of the system from the thermostat to the outside units to the HVAC unit in the attic crawlspace. $60 diagnosis fee which was put towards the work done and overall slightly more than I was expecting price wise but in the end IT WAS FIXED and thats all that matters!
