The work was excellent, but what really impressed me was the follow-up. A year later, Payman sent his crew back just to handle the little adjustments that come with a house settling. Even years later, he's still helpful whenever I need to get in touch with one of his subcontractors for maintenance. Because of that trust, I hired him again last year for a major remodel of my vacation home, and he didn't disappoint me as always. Payman is easily the most responsive contractor I've worked with, he gets back to every email within 24 hours, no matter how complex the issue is. His project management is top-tier. The crew is respectful and polite, and they actually finished the job ahead of schedule. It's rare to find a contractor who is this efficient and actually stands by their work long-term. From the very beginning they were professional responsive and transparent about the design and construction project. Payman took the time to explain different design options in detail--outlining clear timelines, estimated costs, and how each plan would fit my goals and budget. Payman and his team kept me updated on city approvals, vendor coordination, and project timelines. They were patient in answering all my questions and flexible with revisions as the design evolved. I truly appreciated their honesty, attention to detail, and commitment to quality. It's clear that Bay Area Design and Construction takes great pride in their workmanship and client satisfaction. I would highly recommend Payman to anyone looking for a reliable, skilled, and trustworthy design and construction team in the Bay Area.

What was going on and what was happening if I had any concerns, he addressed them immediately and make sure that they met my expectations. I would use Wise Builders again and I would request Marc to be my project manager again on any future jobs that I had. He worked really well with our designer Jocelyn, I appreciated having a designer. Having a designer to bounce ideas off have her expertise on fixtures and toilets was amazing. Jocelyn did an excellent job working with me and when my daughter had some changes to this design, she was very receptive to those changes and helped me update the changes in our design The only thing that could have been better is, if the tile supplier had communicated with Marc that the tile for the guest shower floor was backlogged. Marc worked really hard to expedite the tile and was in communication with me along that process. In order to give us options besides waiting for the tile, Jocelyn, our designer gave us an alternative tile. Looking at the tile floor now I like it better than what I had originally chosen. I have done other remodeling projects and I would have to say that working with Marc has probably been one of the easiest remodeling projects that I have done. I appreciated that I did not have to be so hands-on in the project because I trusted that Marc would get it done.

All prior interior work in our house had been done by handyman. I really appreciated the communication from our project manager Marc. He created a WhatsApp chat with me and the incredible designer Jocelyn. They were both consistently responsive to any of my questions or concerns -- and opened my mind to design options. Jocelyn spent time in our home, drafted plans, took me shopping, and sourced all the fixtures. From her spreadsheet I was able to find less expensive options for some items. I appreciated the input and control I had on these expenses. Since we needed to move out, I had a tight timeline for the project -- mid October until Thanksgiving. Marc and the team did their best despite City of San Jose delays with inspections. We were able to move back in before the final inspection. Every member of the team was kind and courteous. Marc also did a great job working with the window vendor that specializes in older homes. I'm rating the experience a 4.5 out of 5 for two reasons. I was disappointed that the medicine cabinet, switch plates, and hooks were initially installed unevenly (it was corrected). I expected more attention to detail. And I was disappointed in the wear & tear that happened on my wood floors as well as the overall dust in my dining room. I was warned that things would get dusty -- but didn't understand the extent and would have packed away more things. WISE offers lots of support with design -- they could also offer as part of their package a full cleaning! I offer this feedback to help others calibrate their expectations. Overall it was a positive experience. I waited several months to post this review until I returned from travel and could see how things were settling after regular use. I'm loving the new bathroom and recommend WISE.

From the start of the design project, they used high quality sub contractors for design, engineering, and all the trades in the house. Fernando, our project manager was incredible. He approached the project with a keen eye for details and took total ownership over the sub contractors. He would stop by almost every night to ensure that the subs were performing their work and not leaving or damaging any other contractors' work. Sarmad is a problem solver. He sees an issue and thinks through how to solve it, then presents clear options to choose from. Throughout the process, we were not surprised by unanticipated expenses - all changes were clearly explained and we had the option to make changes via clear change orders. EDR uses Buildertrend for all program management and billing, which made payments, change approvals, and scheduling tracking seamless. While this sounds like a basic requirement in 2026, not all contractors use these services which just adds friction to the process. We couldn't recommend EDR more for the quality of work on our house, the schedule execution, care for detail, and just taking care of our project. Along the way, we never felt nickel & dimed, and the value of their services definitely exceeded our expectations.

Mehus Construction was synonymous with building some of the finest homes in Silicon Valley. A firm founded by Paul Mehus who was renowned for his attention to detail, quality craftsmanship and building long-term relations with his clients. During the 2009 financial crisis we were very lucky to find a 100 year old home in a historic neighborhood. We had a very well known architect design the home of our dreams including a full basement which required some serious engineering. The project generally went well considering the scope, the occasional finger pointing between architect, mehus and sub-contractors. We pushed through and the house of our dreams came to fruition. The original team we worked with at Mehus is long gone, the firm retains the name but has been taken over by a gentleman named Aaron Ewing. This firm is no longer the Mehus of old, it is a shell of its old self. Over the years problems have arisen, I have dealt with original subs or new firms to help clean up Mehus' mess. At times Mehus was responsive with suggestions but in the past year you can barely get a peep out of them. They will build your dream home but good luck in getting them to care much 5 to 10 years out. We have a leaking back patio with extensive wood damage, we are currently having a new firm tear it down and rebuild it properly, $150K. So, nothing interesting till now. One of Mehus' sub-contractors is Keller Heat and Air out of Gilroy whom we spent over $200k improperly installing 3 Mitsubishi heat pumps. Mitsubishi requires at least 10 inches of clearance, they left 1 inch. Why is that important? Well when the coils fail, which they will, there needs to be enough clearance to replace the coils. Instead we now have to replace and reengineer the shoddy work to the tune of $20k, that is just the first unit. So what do we find when the ducts are opened, a pornographic message left in the unit that serviced my children's rooms who were 4 and 6 at the time. The message is crude and I get construction banter but this is pretty damn weird. What does this say about Mehus and their choice of sub-contractors, what else is lurking in my walls. We will be opening the other two units and lets see what surprises await. Please direct message me if you have any further questions.

    ADORE Homes - final product

    ADORE Homes

Same review I posted on Google, but putting it on Yelp too:…read more I started a project with Adore homes in late dec 2024 because we had an empty plot of land next to our house which was perfect for a sizable ADU. I had heard of them through the San Jose official websites and on the Adu partners list. My goal was to find a project management company that would (since I have a full time job): - work on getting all the legal work - file and chase all the needed permits - deal with contractors - find the right vendors - coordinate the entire end-to-end build to turn-key worthy - include building the foundation and its cost in the project's fixed fee price (most adu companies do not do this !!!) Adore Homes met all my requirements, and we spent 1-2 weeks discussing the Contract upfront with one of their cofounders (Tom Ginsberg). He was very patient and open to negotiating terms to satisfy our fears and concerns, and the pricing was very transparent (fixed fee, gave us pricing for add-ons/upgrades). The easy upfront billing part is the cost of the foundation plus the building itself and upgrades within the house. But if you're budgeting, keep in mind that permit/city fees and extra exterior work aside from the foundation and front/backdoor steps are extra. And these costs can be a lot, and quite unpredictable. This isn't Adore's fault, I think it's mainly the city and public works which don't tell you these costs upfront and only design/give you and estimate after your whole build is done. pricing has changed due to the world events too, so make sure your budget has plenty of buffer room (eg. PG&E upgrades are very expensive, new fencing and extra outdoor work were priced very fairly by Adore. And the quality is good too) Anyways, the project took a total of 1.5 years for a 900 sqft adu to be fully built (including exterior etc). Keep in mind, 50-60% of the slowness is due to paper work and waiting for city or public works approvals. Adore does not have much control over these, but once those came through they were very quick to schedule the build and get their contractors working. As the customer, it helps to keep tab on things and check with Adore're PM if you have any items you want looked at or have concerns. Also make your payments on time moves things along. Anh Nyugen was ours and she is amazing to work with! She delivered on every ask and followed up on each question/concern we had. I'm very happy with how the project ran even though it did take longer than expected (I blame the city & PG&E for this though). Overall I'm glad I took the leap and did this project with Adore Homes. Would definitely do it again.

The quality of workmanship on the bathroom, flooring, windows, skylight, cabinetry, and finish work was very good. The crew was hardworking, skilled, and detail-oriented, and we are very happy with the final results. The project was also completed on or ahead of schedule, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience with the project managers, Amir and Hamid, was less positive. Communication was sometimes unclear, change orders were not always worded or documented clearly, and some issues led to misunderstandings that could have been avoided with better communication. For example, there was confusion over touch-up painting after stucco was patched around the new windows. The scope and pricing could have been communicated more clearly. We also had an issue with the shower glass door installed by a subcontractor, which failed inspection. We expected Aria Build, as the general contractor, to take greater ownership and help coordinate the resolution rather than leaving us to handle it. Overall, we want to give credit to the crew for their hard work and craftsmanship. We are pleased with the finished product, and the timely completion was a definite positive. However, project management, communication, and accountability fell short of our expectations. With better documentation and more ownership when issues arise, this could have been a much better overall experience.

After a quick initial meetup, Ray wasted no time sending us information, setting up visits to houses we were interested in, and answering all our questions in a timely manner. He was professional about everything but also personable and approachable. We had a very specific goal in mind: a small but comfortably sized house for our family, smaller front yard, big backyard, no HOA, and preferably on the Peninsula (among other expectations.) Working with Ray felt like having a trusted friend guide us through every twist and turn of buying our first home. We showed up to our first open house clueless--but Ray patiently explained the entire process, and never made us feel embarrassed for asking the same question twice. He was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We appreciate that he shared his experience and insight, not just regarding real estate but everything including financing, lender info, commute patterns, potential diy home improvement, renovations, land/mineral rights, etc. Needless to say we learned a lot at every meeting and in a very short period of time. He turned home tours into fun learning opportunities, pointing out things we'd have missed on our own--like noise pollution or foundation issues, cracks in the walls or unevenness in the floors, the temperature of the electrical box, etc. Within the 3rd week, we "had Ray's voice in our heads" when looking at listings and visiting homes. We had a wide range with regard to location: which included most of the South Bay and nearly all the Peninsula. Ray was more than happy to show us many neighborhoods around the Bay Area. He even encouraged us to spend extended amounts of time staying, visiting, or at least driving each area to feel the vibes of each location. We even visited homes 'slightly outside' our ideals so we could garner a feel for what we were most comfortable living with or without. Ray helped us to shop with hope and see the potential of certain spaces but also kept us grounded in our expectations and budget. Throughout our search, we never felt rushed to 'put in an offer.' However, it didn't take long for us to find a home we were interested in. With the knowledge and guidance Ray provided, we were able to submit our first offer, which to our pleasant surprise, was accepted! In June, we bought a home that checked nearly all our boxes: a small mid-century 3bd/1ba on the Peninsula with an immense backyard and in a neighborhood we love. We absolutely love our new home and because of Ray's expertise and help, we have the peace of mind we made the right decision. If you're diving into your first home purchase and want an agent who listens, educates, and celebrates every small win, Ray's the perfect partner for the journey.
