Mixed experience. The actual crew did an excellent job throughout our garage remodel and related projects. The quality of workmanship on the bathroom, flooring, windows, skylight, cabinetry, and finish work was very good. The crew was hardworking, skilled, and detail-oriented, and we are very happy with the final results. The project was also completed on or ahead of schedule, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience with the project managers, Amir and Hamid, was less positive. Communication was sometimes unclear, change orders were not always worded or documented clearly, and some issues led to misunderstandings that could have been avoided with better communication. For example, there was confusion over touch-up painting after stucco was patched around the new windows. The scope and pricing could have been communicated more clearly. We also had an issue with the shower glass door installed by a subcontractor, which failed inspection. We expected Aria Build, as the general contractor, to take greater ownership and help coordinate the resolution rather than leaving us to handle it. Overall, we want to give credit to the crew for their hard work and craftsmanship. We are pleased with the finished product, and the timely completion was a definite positive. However, project management, communication, and accountability fell short of our expectations. With better documentation and more ownership when issues arise, this could have been a much better overall experience. read more

A friend of mine referred me to Amir from Aria construction. I texted Amir for consultation and a quote. He just replied by saying that I need to send an email and request an appointment through Yelp. I didn't get any response from Yelp. But someone replied to my email asking for my address and phone number. After my reply, they said their only available appointment is a week from now on Thursday 10AM. I replied that it does not work for me. Two days later they responded that their next available appointment is the week after that again on Thursday 10AM! So, it's been now almost 3 weeks that I'm just trying to get an appointment with these guys to come in and get me a quote! I'm sure I can get an appointment from my doctor easier than these guys! We worked with Aria on an addition and complete interior remodel of our house in Sunnyvale. We could not have asked for a better builder to work with on our project. A couple of specific things that made Aria stand out to us compared to our worst fears: 1. Aria did not stall on the project at any stage. As long as we had the answers and the materials needed for Aria to move the project along, they did. The net result was that the major remodel was done in about 6 months to our surprise and that of a lot of our friends. 2. They did not pester us throughout the projects with change orders for every small thing. Yes, there were change orders as would be expected for a large project, but they were reasonable. We did not feel taken advantage of once we were a captive audience for them. It did help to keep the changes on the lower side, because we were prepared with interior designs with the help of Hilda Moattar. 3. All Aria employees and the sub contractors were respectful, flexible and open to feedback. Despite the best intentions, it is impossible to get everything down to the last detail in the plans. Decisions and changes have to be made on the fly, being flexible and respectful through the process is essential and Aria has that sorted out. 4. We hired Aria to remodel our master shower after it had major plumbing issues from the initial remodel with another company. During the remodel, an electrical outlet that was previously working before the remodel no longer worked after they did demolition. I told Amir that during the course of demolition, the outlet was broken and asked him to fix it. He responded that they didn't do anything and I needed to hire my own electrician. After further back and forth where I insisted it was working fine before demolition and after demolition, it stopped working, he called me and yelled at me that this was not their fault and he won't keep repeating himself and I have to hire an electrician to fix it on my own. Further on in the remodel, there were issues and pushy behavior with payment. The contract clearly outlined that we needed to pay after certain milestones were hit with tile installation. Also, the contract clearly outlined we had 10 days to make payment from when they request it. There were delays with the shower floor tile installation, so it wasn't completed according to schedule. The receptionist called and asked for our payment on the tile installation and said they would send someone to pick up the check that same day. I told her I wasn't paying because the shower floor tile wasn't completed so the payment shouldn't be due yet, plus even if the tile install was done we should have 10 days to make payment instead of a few hours notice and having someone sent to our home to collect payment. We ended the phone call with her saying she would talk to Amir and shortly after, I get an update that the tile installer will be at our house in 30 minutes (there was no one at our home doing work that day). I also get an email saying they updated the payment request so that now payment is based on completion of slab (which we had for our shower walls), not tile (which we had for the shower floor). Based on their amended verbiage, the only next step in the payment schedule was for "bathroom finishing" so there would have been no payment due for the completion of our shower floor. After they finished installing the tile and the shower was done, I sent photos to Amir of parts of the rest of the bathroom that got damaged from their demolition and remodeling of the shower, asking for them to fix the damages. He said fixing it would cost extra. Overall, very unprofessional company, constantly blaming the customer and not taking ownership of their mistakes, and amending contract verbiage to collect payments sooner as well as trying to send someone to your home same day to collect payment despite what the contract states. read more

Project : 606 sq feet addition (bathroom , living room and a bedroom) to the home, plus renovation of existing bathroom and removal of chimney). Constructed started June of 2024 and finished early December 2024. Hired Aria for both: Architecture : 3.5 stars Build & Construction : 5 stars. Construction: Reza's quote was very competitive. Reza did a great job of managing the project and the sub contractors. He managed the project very well , delivered on time with high quality. Most of the sub contractors that he hired were happy and passionate in doing their work. Reza is also very responsive and also pointed me where buy to buy needed items when i didn't know where to get them from. Architecture:: I think this is where Aria can perhaps improve. I had explained to the architect that we didn't want to disturb the existing house layout a lot, but all the 3 initial designs that he sent for review significantly modified all existing areas of the house eg the kitchen. So in the end, I ended up designing the internal layout with help from my family and then giving the architect the design to add finishing touches /file permit etc. I also wish the architect had discussed with me about the external façade and the entry-way before filing the permit. Other things to note/keep in mind: 1. Architecture and Construction are pretty much disjoint processes even if you are working with the same company. 2. As with any build project any addition/changes to permit design need to be cost accounted by the home owner. Overall, very satisfied and happy. We met with several contractors in 2023 for our remodeling project before hiring Aria. While the permit process with the City took longer than I anticipated, Reza (Aria) worked with me patiently though we changed the scope couple of times during that period. Reza's pricing was competitive, reviews on Yelp were pretty good and above all, communication with him was very pleasant - all these made us go with Aria and Reza! Our project was to remodel a 2000 sqft home which covered almost all of the areas and turned out to be a large project that included all new kitchen, bathrooms, floor, roof, electrical and plumbing. The work started in February 2024 and took around 9 months. We added several niceties in between which resulted in a large number of change orders. At the end, our house looked brand new - thanks to the work by Aria and team - they did well in understanding our needs and suggestions, and built those. All through the project Reza communicated promptly. He talked about any constraints upfront, discussed options and provided cost details upfront, which made decision making straighforward when we were exploring at each stage. Reza was generally flexible to accommodate our new asks - he always called out what it will cost and how long it would take. The sub-contractors he brought were also good and was open to we exploring other vendors for better prices. I also would call out few of Reza's people - Marvin, Polo, Ali and Nelson - they all were pretty good. There were couple of instances where things didn't go well - but, Reza and team worked with us to address those, and those ended well. I appreciate Reza's efforts to listen and work with us on those! Our remodel was a major one, We built a floor up, upgraded our panel to 400A and added about 1200 ft.² We went with Aria for the design and architecture as well and then proceeded with them for construction. We have a lot of positive things to say about Aria and Amir. Even before we started the project, Amir suggested that we talk to the city as we came under the flood zone. That proved to be really beneficial as we learned about the city's restrictions and worked around it. Our construction started in March 2024 and we moved in by the end of November, which was an amazing time line, given the scope of the project and all the roadblocks we faced with Pg&E, starting from needing a temporary power pole. Amir was always very prompt to respond to any questions we had via phone, or WhatsApp and met us throughout the project on site as needed. The entire Aria team and subcontractors did a phenomenal job in communicating with us and working with us on our project requirements. They were also accommodative of changes we requested and absorbed it within the timeline. We also requested for certain things to be done on specific days based on our beliefs, and they were very accommodating of that as well. A special shout out to Amir and team Aria! - The Architecture and design teams were very collaborative and arrived at a high-quality design while incorporating client feedback - Amir and Aria team were very patient and accommodative of design revisions and updates to city during permit process - Aria team was prompt in completing inspections and following-up promptly with PG&E - Plumbing and electrical sub teams need special mention as they were very collaborative through their work - If you need a speedy timeline with quality work, don't go anywhere other than Aria and team (they may not be the cheapest but aren't the most expensive either) - We have just moved-in and will post more updates at the end of 2025, but Aria team has been very responsive post move in as well! Fascinated by these positive reviews I'm seeing. Our experience couldn't have been more different. We hired Aria's team a couple years ago to do a modest remodel within our house. Aria's architect submitted our proposed build plan to the wrong department - the fire dept instead of planning/building. And, as we later found out, he submitted with blatantly incorrect measurements and parameters in various places that made our work with our next contractor all the more challenging and caused further delays. Instead of owning up to any error, they hid it and blamed the city for not routing the plan to the correct dept. When I found out about the mistake from the city by contacting them myself, everything started to unravel quickly. I always want to assume good intentions, but when I asked about this issue (and followed up a few times, because I was getting inconsistent answers or no response at all -- e.g. "i'll get back to you" or "city is taking too long to respond" when I was personally able to hear back from the city in a matter of 2 hours), instead of calmly owning up to the error made on your company's part, the Aria point of contact (spoken of remarkably favorably in some of these other reviews) actually shouted at me. I am in a service-oriented profession myself and have never spoken (or ever heard anyone else speak) to a client in the manner I was addressed. I especially cannot understand such aggressive behavior coming from the party at fault. I asked some reasonable questions - which I had the right to ask as a paying client - about the source of the delay in receiving our permit, since if there had in fact been a mistake from the city's side, that would be need to be handled differently. In response to my calm inquiries as to why this was not handled correctly, I was screamed at as follows: - "So you're saying that we're lying to you? Is that what you're saying?!" - "So [architect] made a mistake in submitting to the wrong dept - you want me to fire him? Is that what you want?!" - "You keep calling me and asking questions - why why why?!?! There is no answer! It is what it is! Mistakes happen!" - "I don't care how much you paid us - $8k, 9k, 20k" - it doesn't matter!" - "What do you want from me? These delays happen all the time! Move on!" - "Of course I had not gotten back to you sooner, you think you are my only client?" The most incredible part was that at the very end of this exchange, he actually said: "we care deeply about providing the best customer service to each and every client, no matter the size of the project". If he and Aria actually did care, I might have instead heard something like "I'm sorry that this happened, and I will be sure to follow up with the architect to ensure there are no further undue delays due to confusion or mistakes made on our side. We will stay more on top of this going forward, and if there are further delays expected of any kind, we will let you know so that we can work through it together." That is the very least I would expect from a company to whom I have paid over $10K for services. Nothing of the kind ever happened, and we shifted to another company to receive competent, professional and polite service. All told, this experience was unbelievably awful and I hope with this review to help others avoid the same outcome. read more

There were some hiccups, mainly around PG&E and COVID delays. Amir had been very patient and cooperative. We wanted to convert our 2 car garage to a fully self sufficient ADU unit and also add a master suite by extending into the backyard. There were a few other changes done to the existing living space to add a new half bath for guests and redo the interior walls so that all bed rooms have their private full baths. We signed the contract for 8 months with Aria and I am happy to say that the project was completed on time and to our satisfaction. Any issues that arose during the process were fixed promptly. It was for a significant house remodel for our home in Palo Alto which involved a bunch of work including increasing square footage, changing the layout of much of the house, adding a master bedroom and master bathroom, a new kitchen, new half-bath, redoing the common area to have a living room and office, etc. It was a big project. Amir's team was fantastic. I'll bullet point some of the highlights. * Setting good expectations for both price and timeline. Probably the most important and something I cared a lot about for the project. We added some work for change orders, but there weren't any real surprises in the price beyond a few things where the house itself was old (e.g. replacing some old wood in the framing) or things we chose to do (e.g. doing more exterior painting than we originally were thinking. The project would have actually beaten the timeline originally given to us except some of the things we ordered from other vendors took longer than we expected. This team held up their end of the bargain on timing. * Very communicative. We set up a chat group on whatsapp early between myself, Amir, and my wife. This was great as we could get answers to things quickly, and he could communicate with us about what was coming next in the project. * Professional and efficient staff, and high quality work. All the folks I interacted with both from Aria and the subcontractors were great to interact with. My neighbors commented that they were always respectful and friendly when working as well. All the people I interacted with seemed to care about their work and it showed in the finished work. I wasn't around for all the inspections but the ones I was around for went smoothly, and it never seemed like we were blocked on inspections or the city throughout the process. We've been living in our newly renovated house for a few weeks now and it's been pretty great. We've already been recommending Aria to some of our friends who are considering projects. This review is a few months late, our project was finished a few months ago and we have been enjoying the outcome for a few months now. They remodeled two bathrooms in our townhouse which needed to re-route some of the plumbing and electric circuits that was not trivial. We loved working with Reza, and all of the subcontractors he brought onsite. We have had other contractors before and Reza and his firm were by far the best and most professional! Reza is incredibly polite and accommodating. The price he quoted was very fair and reasonable (based on our extensive shopping around). We did the project during covid, so some of the material we ordered were delayed, and at the same time we decided to change some of the design. Reza and the subcontractors were kind enough to take all of this well and adjust the plan. We had some other complications that come up during the work because the building is very old, but Reza was able to handle all of them quickly and at a fair cost. The outcome looks great with high quality. This project has immensely improved our house and our quality of life. We have worked with Aria to rebuild our house from scratch and it was a fantastic experience right from the start till after we moved in. The whole process took us roughly 16-18 months. We went from 1100 sqft single floor house 2700 sqft 2 story house. Construction took 6 months and Amir gave us an estimate of 7 months. We lost 1-2 weeks due to rain. Amir took care of us from design to permitting as well which took 10-12 months. Amir has utmost clarity on every aspect and the best thing is to just follow his suggestions. For all interiors he gave us a list of stores to visit and when to order what from which store and went with that and we are very happy with that. Overall quality of work is awesome and highly recommend Aria. After we moved in whenever we saw small issues Amir's team would schedule and send someone from their team to take care of them. Amir was also very mindful of our budget and did the best possible within our budget. There was no change from original quote to final cost of construction. Finally Amir is always a call away and super responsive and constantly guided us through the whole process. Infact his whole team at the office is always available to guide through the whole process. We had a renovation last year (2021-2022) with a non-trivial scope including adding a living space, a master bedroom and converting the garage to an ADU. Amir and his team made it happen within 8 months. Through our collaboration, Amir, the owner Aira and project manager of my project, had been playing beyond my expectations on a general contractor with strong ownership, sense to details, high quality deliverables and high efficiency. - Ownership. Amir didn't finish what we were asking for but rather think ahead of a few steps, from preordering the materials in early 2021 (before the back order got worse), to suggesting the styles and materials during the interior work execution. - Detailed sense. With his deep experiences in constructions, he always looked around and covered the missing corner cases that we wouldn't have noticed, e.g. framing, insulation, flooring, electrician, finish, etc - High quality and high efficiency. We've enjoyed the finish work delivered from Amir's team, e.g. tiles, cabinets, painting, etc. What we got was exactly what we have imagined before the project given we have a high bar (we interviewed 7-8 general contractors before the project and compared their equality of work). We are also impressed by the velocity of his team. Many of our fiends who worked with contractors complained that they would only have the workers showing up on the job site 1-3 days per week thus the project can be easily delayed for 3-5 months. This never happened to Aira though. We randomly came to check the job site and there were always some workers there (from 2 and up to 7-8!). The upgrade included complete remodel of kitchen, all existing bedrooms & bathrooms, flooring, roofing, plumbing, electrical, windows & doors, heating & cooling and garage. Their pricing was very reasonable and quotes were very detailed & well explained. They are easy to work with, very reliable, very professional, capable and easily accessible. They act on requests and issues in a fast and timely manner and quick to provided solutions when encountering obstacles. They execute things very quickly and completed the project earlier than scheduled. They are very efficient with their execution and the quality of work is impressive. We had a great experience with Aria Build & Construction. Their team was very responsive to our questions and they were always available to help. We appreciated their communication in letting us know when we needed to purchase materials, where we could purchase them, and when our scheduled inspections were. Whenever work was scheduled, the team kept us updated by sending us emails and pictures of the work that was done. The team also takes feedback well and takes action to remedy issues promptly - for example, after our construction was complete, we found a few flaws, but Aria fixed them the very next day. Additionally, our ladder ended up missing during construction, but Aria promptly purchased us a new one and gave it to us the next day. We got introduced to Aria by a friend who had used them for a major remodel for his home and found the quality of the home very good. And Amir and his Aria team did not disappoint us. They exceeded our expectations for our new construction (approximately 3400 SQ foot home). The whole team has been very easy to work work, very detail oriented and timely. Before the start, Amir had given a timeline of 10 months and he delivered as per the plan without any delays. We also got our ADU (approximately 750 SQ feet) built by him which he delivered in under 4 months as planned. Amir has amazing project management and task management skills which became the driver for on time completion without impacting the quality of the end results.
