Pepper Park Coffee is a cute shop located just off NW Hwy in a more industrial area. Their location had a drive through, outdoor patio, and plenty of seating inside. Their menu offers a favorite of coffee, teas, and sandwiches for food. Note that all syrups flavors are pumps over homemade. I was between some items but the staff member highly recommended the seasonal Pumpkin, Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso (med- 20oz). I changed the milk to oatmilk ($1 upcharge) and my total was $9.30. This is a bit pricey for how much I like to spend on coffee out but the flavor was amazing! A bit sweet but I found myself continuously going back for another sip. I would certainly come back for their seasonal offerings but couldn't sustain visiting sadly on a regular cadence. Either way, stop by Pepper Park Coffee to give them a try! read more

Date of visit: September 11, 2025 I had to drop a friend off down the street for a procedure and this seemed like the perfect place to hang out and get some work done while he was in with the doctor. They offered Wifi and a nice, varied menu with both bakery items and fun coffee drinks (what else is there to ask for?). Dessert first, because life is short: I went with a donut. I believe it was an old-fashioned sour cream, but not entirely sure as there was no sign indicating exactly what it was, but it was quite good and reminded me of the ones I have had from Kwik Trip (this is high praise!). My friend let me try a bite of the pumpkin roll/loaf I got for him and I agree that it was a tad dry but the cream cheese helped offset that. Suspect it was better in the morning but had been sitting out all day and got dry by 230 in the afternoon. For coffee, I went with the Pumpkin Cold Brew, which was quite tasty and the Roadmaster panini, which was also pretty good. I did not get asked what side I wanted and was given chips, though I was able to swap them for another flavor that I preferred, so that was nice. This place is like Starbucks and Panera had a baby, the service is exceptional, the store is always looking clean and bright, the decor fits the vibe and isn't too loud, flashy, or overbearing-- everything just works... Coffee is bold? Flavorful and fresh, menu is solid with everything been made fresh to order, and they also have a variety of specials and bakery items that rotate. The cashier that took our order wasn't very friendly, and got my drink order wrong. When I came back up, she added the flavors. I ordered the avocado toast, and couldn't help but notice the cashier helping another customer ordering the same thing asked what kind of bread and side. I wasn't asked anything so ended up with chips. Mine was also missing the balsamic drizzle which would have made a big difference as the avocado was lacking seasoning, but I didn't want to go back up a second time. Ample parking, lots of seating! We stopped in while waiting for an appointment nearby. I got a chai, and we both got sandwiches. They were both tasty, and I'm definitely open to returning! While we waited/ate, we sat on one of the comfy couches/chairs, and busted out one of the house chess sets they have. I'm definitely not good at chess and the pieces could definitely use some love, but it was nice that the had it as an option for patrons. read more

My first visit to Pepper Park Coffee was great the iced shaken espresso was good and strong which is why I decided to come back. Unfortunately, this second visit was disappointing. My caramel shaken espresso was overwhelmingly sweet, more like sugar water than coffee, and the cup was mostly ice. For the price and after tipping, I expected the same quality as before. I went back to share my concern, and for them to remake the coffee, however the responses felt dismissive. Instead of offering to remake the drink, the barista's explained away each issue and just added extra espresso shots, so therefore, I didn't feel there was any accountability or genuine care about making it right. As a customer and especially as a Black woman in an all-white area, I try to handle these situations calmly and respectfully. Still, it would mean a lot if the staff approached feedback or concerns with more openness and hospitality. A simple offer to remake the drink would've gone a long way toward keeping my confidence in your coffee and service. read more

Lovely independent coffee shop, delicious hot and cold coffee drinks. It's much better than Starbucks, which is the only other coffee choice nearby. Spacious, sunny interior, good WiFi, comfortable and varied choices in seating. Plenty of parking, it's in a strip mall that doesn't have much other traffic. Excellent service. read more

Around Barrington we have a lot of great breakfast places and good coffee options. We revisited one of the out of the way coffee shops at Pepper Park Coffee and it deserves everyone's attention. Even though we haven't tried most of their menu items we can still give them a strong recommendation just based on their coffee and their delicious scones. They serve Julius Meinl coffee from Vienna, Austria. It is excellent! Their dark roast is not as intense as Starbucks or Peet but still robust and very well complimented with half and half. Goes great with pastries or just black and solo. We consider ourselves aficionados of fresh baked scones because Nancy's favorite breakfast is one of her homemade scones and a fresh pot of coffee which we enjoy several mornings each week. Pepper Park's scones are the closest to fresh homemade that we have found. Better than Starbucks, Panera, and even Ambrosia's which is saying a lot. Priced better too! Another plus is the ambiance which has lots of comfortable seating and tables. People in business meetings, couples and individuals reading, socializing or just checking out their devices. I highly recommend you check out Pepper Park as a great asset for the neighborhood and a relaxing place for a great cup of coffee. read more

My friends frequent Pepper Park Coffee because the food and coffee is usually great, and atmosphere is warm and friendly. But not today. I ordered a bagel and it was stale, hard and very hard to eat. I tried to eat about half of it because I was hungry. Then I decided that management would want to know that there was something wrong with the bagel and I assumed that they would want me to be happy and offer me something else. WRONG. The baristas and the manager argued that it was fresh. I think it was frozen, microwaved and then toasted. Just awful. The only thing they wanted to do was give me another hard and stale bagel. Very strange customer service over a $3.50 bagel. Just don't order a bagel. read more

This place is the small town coffee house & chill spot you've been seeing in all the movies. The staff is friendly and polite, but they have an edge that demands respect. The coffee creations are fabulous. There are monthly seasonal changes which are a favorite. Just tried their Cinnamon Honey Tea Latte & it was love at first sip. The avocado toast is awesome. Would appreciate having it with a sharper knife, but I'm always able to eat the whole thing any way! Side bonus, they get a daily delivery of doughnuts from Spunky Dunkers & that's a nice treat!! Pepper park used to be my absolute favorite coffee, unfortunately after many many tries to see if they've improved, they haven't. I've been going there for years and went all the time - even though it's 15-20 minutes from me. I used to love their espresso they used - I'm a big coffee person and am picky about espresso and coffee places use. They used to have the best beans and they were delicious in espresso drinks! I'd say sometime this past fall/winter they changed their beans and they're horrendous!! Doesn't matter what milk, flavor, etc you have in there - they went from smooth and perfect to tasting like burnt acorns. Terrible! I've went back many times since to confirm and this is still the case (the last time I went was yesterday). The roast is horrible and they need to change what roaster/brand they buy from. I can't believe they don't taste this in their own coffee, it's pungent and terribly off putting. This makes me so so sad, I used to love this place and go many times a week! read more

Delicious coffee and food! My husband ordered a breakfast burrito and I had a cinnamon roll and we each had a latte. Both the burrito and roll were fresh and super tasty and the coffee was delicious. Great coffee, tea and other drink options in a fun, laid back, clean atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit - very friendly staff!- and we look forward to going again! There is a clear "masks required for entry sign" which was heartening, as the business I went to before was packed with a ton of unmasked employees. Pepper Park had three unmasked employees in the front (none masked) without even the pretense of an ear-dangler. Prepping food and drink for others sans mask is disgusting. The owner and her employees are friendly, easy going and not too busy to talk a little. The coffee, sandwiches and apple dapple cake are delicious! I've been bringing my friends and family here for years. My daughter gets the egg avocado pesto sandwich every time. Every month or so a different local artist has their paintings or photography or other works hanging on the wall for sale. I really love pepper park coffee- they seriously have the best brew around, with a great selection of breakfast and lunch munchies! they really do have their stuff together. my single complaint is that they're not super friendly- I've been there 50+ times and regularly tip $5+ on a coffee, and they typically will be extremely short and/or not even make eye contact. I'm not expecting a kiss on the hand, but a smile or occasional "thank you" back instead of a grunt every morning would be greatly appreciated :) read more

I am a frequent visitor to Pepper Park Coffee, but no more. This morning a guest walked in with 2 dogs. One of the dogs proceeded to jump up and put his paws on the counter where food was being prepared. Both the dog owner and the barista did nothing to get the dog down. The barista proceeded to let the dog lick her hands and then began cleaning the espresso machine without washing her hands. I'm a dog guy, but this was gross on multiple levels. The food and coffee were fine--nothing outstanding. I was excited to see a business stating a mask was required to be served. What turned me off during my visit--I went inside and of the 4 employees that I saw, none was wearing a mask correctly--in fact one girl was not even wearing a mask at all. I watched the no mask girl pick up a towel that had fallen on the floor and put it near the espresso machine. I then saw another girl pick it up to use it until I said it had fallen on the floor. I had to wait a long time for the sandwiches we ordered and ask for the donuts we had ordered, as they had been forgotten. At the same time I was waiting, another older woman also came up to say her table never got their scones. I can deal with a little extra wait for extraordinary food but the sanitary and infection control lapses turned me off. read more

I was having my car worked on across the street and it was going to take a while so I walked over to this coffee shop to get some work done. The staff was very friendly and inviting. If I can avoid going to national chains, I now prefer too. Staff, Ambience, Service is friendly and upbeat. Usually stop by for mini business meetings away from the office and it allows us to continue discussions. Hydration choices are good. Have had their Fresh Roasted Coffee, Cafe Americano (My go to drink of choice), Expresso as well as their Doppio. Sandwiches on the menu are delicious and filling without needing to get a 'doggie bag.' Have enjoyed their Fury & Thunderbird...definitely my go to choices.
