~Throwback Thursday Review back to the 2012 - 2013 era ~ When I lived in the Citrus Heights area, they rolled out IPTV along the Auburn Blvd Corridor around 2012 - 2013 , it was one of the best experiences ever. I had no drop outs or lapse in TV services whatsoever. The only thing that drove me batty at the time was when the set top boxes would shut off after a certain amount of hours of inactivity. But they had channels on their service that other provides did not. FYI- At the time, they were Surewest before the name Consolidated and before it was Roseville Telephone company. Comcast previously was the only TV provider at the time that offered high speed internet except in the case of Surewest which had DSL at the time. It was great to switch then in the area. Enjoyed the service for many months before I moved. Wonder if the staff from the old Surewest are still with the company in Roseville? I cannot speak for today but There was a good thing happening back in the day and hopefully it continues. read more

This company horrible. Treated long term customer like crap. Spent multiple days and multiple hours on the phone trying to resolve issue. Be aware of their cancellation policy. They will not prorate last bill if you cancel. If you plan on cancelling their service wait closer to the end of your billing cycle. They are going to charge you the full amount, even if you stop their service only a few days into you new billing cycle. They also have been advertising that they would get their fiber internet service in our area for years and they still do not have it in our area. I had been a customer of this company since it use to be surewest and it use to be a good company to be with. It has gone downhill. Stay away. read more

It's crazy to me that this company even exists. I called looking to install a landline in my dad's memory care apartment. It's the only option for this building in Roseville. Well at least for a regular landline but now I'll be getting a straight talk smart box or a community phone instead. She was asking me like I had one but I didn't want to tell her. If I had an account I would give you the number, trust me. I offered the job number but she said she didn't need it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She then said the same thing I heard before it's not available in their system yet. Then she asked me for a nearby address? I just told her the address to the building why tf doesn't she Google it?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Oh that's right there's no actual customer service here. After I could tell I was getting no where I politely explained that this company is ridiculous, and I won't be calling back. The worst part? It's not my frustration, it's not that this company continues to exist even though I'm not quite sure what their purpose is. The worst part is I can't communicate with my dad, who lives in memory care and can't remember how to charge his cellphone. This company's lack of service is preventing me from communicating with my loved one. So it's between the talk box or community phone right now. Consolidated communications? I'm not sure what they consolidated but they aren't capable of helping me communicate which, I don't know seems like should be a priority for a communication company. This company runs DSL lines to Citrus Heights as if it were the 90s. I have actually been okay with them for three solid years until the speed slowed down to 5 mbps and was throwing errors to their ceiling that they failed to notice. Fidium bought CCI and any CCI customer should leave now. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a rep come out with a three day wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He informed me they can't send over ten mbps here. I'm in a main suburb. Not in the sticks. Last year some idiot CCI rep came to my house and sold me 15 Mbps on an "upgrade" and as this rep told me, there is no such thing! Woke up today and CCI had turned off my internet when I start work at home at 7am. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Called and got two AI reps. About 2/3 of their reps are not real ppl.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Supposedly I had $55 overdue. I've been on the phone w three of their AI reps on Monday. Their AI reps are not programmed to think, clearly. I've already bought Xfinity service yesterday for less at 90-300 Mbps like it's really 2025 and need CCI to provide me service so I can pick up my xfinity equipment and fire CCI today. State law in California REQUIRES an accessibility department. This company has none. For the last 6 months they have sent me my normal bill. They are also sending a bill 2 weeks early stating that my bill is due the next day. That email is always for $0. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I call, they lie and say I am only getting one bill. Recently there was an outaged with the internet caused by a car accident. It was off for housrs before Consolidated sent any notification and we had to figure it out on our own. If they knew why di they wait so long to notify their customers? It seems all corporations are the same. It would be the first thing that would come to mind is our customers have no internet lets send a notifcation. I know its possible because they did send an email 12 hours after it was down telling us it was down due to an accident. read more

My fit Internet went out last night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I opened a ticket and was scheduled an appointment for 10 AM to noon today. No nobody showed when I called. I was told it was rescheduled for 3 to 5.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called back. I was told oh there's a service outage your ticket has your appointment has been canceled[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called back again. I was told oh the technicians won't be there till tomorrow because it's a holiday no idea when service will be restored[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]every time I called. I'm speaking to someone in the Philippines, who has no on the boots knowledge of what's happening in the neighborhood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Typical way that AT&T used to handle these service related calls, and the fiber Internet would be down for over a week because nobody could be bothered to investigate that the lines were actually down in the neighborhood you have to be physically on property to see where the problem is coming from, not located in the Philippines! read more

I cancelled my phone line and kept internet service. Paid monthly balance plus partial for internet service. Received a disconnect notice in mail. Called customer service and was told needed to talk to collections . After 45 minutes wit both calls have not talked to anyone from collections. I was told my account does not show that payment . Fidium Fiber (Consolidated Communications) has been awesome for me. I have been getting 1Gbps upload and download (see pic). I uploaded 450GB to Dropbox in minutes. I left for lunch, came back, and it was done. I will explain why I think there is a difference between my service and the 1-star reviews. First, proper installation is key, and my installer did a 10/10 job. I did my homework beforehand and discovered exactly what needed to be installed and where. I guided the installer on exactly where the Ethernet cable needed to be, where to make wholes in the walls, etc. The tech appreciated the simplicity. If somebody else had been here and given lame advice to the installer, the installation would not have come out as good. Second, the 1Gbps is via the raw Ethernet cable from the Fidium modem straight to my computer. That is the extent of Fidium's duty. Any slow down that occurs at the wifi router is NOT Fidium's fault. There are many factors, beyond Fidium's control, that can cause a slowdown at the wifi router. Third, I use my own wifi router. I have been using my own wifi router forever. So, I don't even know what it is like to use a provider's router. The installer told me my router is better than Fidium's wifi router. Any wifi router does chop down that 1Gbps, but that is universal for any provider and unrelated to the raw service provided to the home. Fidium could explain how their customers can buy a better router, but such an explanation is too much information for some customers. So, I understand why Fidium does not explain. I am a former Xfinity/Comcast customer of 15+ years. Xfinity's download speed was fine, but Xfinity could not provide faster than 9Mbps upload speed to my home. My plan was the second fastest they offered but was taking several days to upload 450GB to Dropbox. That was the last straw for me. read more

Our Wifi and internet has been down for several days and after calling several times with no response...I called today determined to get some customer service. I've been on hold for almost two full hours. I'm paying top dollar for no service. Be warned...if you can find a more reliable service at a reasonable price...grab it. I have been with Consolidated Communications for 20 years (Since when they were Surewest.). I called technical support & Brian refused to assist me unless I gave him my email password. He claimed he was a supervisor & he did not have a superior. when I asked for r a phone number or address to the corporate office, he stated that he was not allowed to give that information out. Five times in the last month we have lost our email service because Consolidated reset our passwords to default without telling us! A tech company that can't figure out how to contact its customers! A tech company that doesn't value its customers! I will disagree with others - I have found the tech support to be very good - timely and helpful. Consolidated says they are the best internet service and that they offer 24/7 tech support. I have been without service 16 hours and they are saying they may not get to me for another 2-3 days. Four hours ago they said they would send me an email about whether they could get to me faster, but no email so far. I've been a customer of Consolidated/surewest for 20 years. They seem to be doing everything possible to get me to cancel, I assume because I am a cable customer. I will not consider them as I look for a new provider. Communication from the various departments is not consistent, billing problems, long wait times for answers, no follow through. I've been waiting for a month to return a Consolidated owned router, continue to be billed for it and can't get a return label. I wanted my own router for better performance, and because when their's goes down, you have to wait for a by mail replacement, so that means being down for days. They also didn't tell me by using my own router, I will not be eligible for channel promotion pricing, which is $50/month, far and above the $10/month I get for returning the router. I was repeatedly told that using my own router, the only impact was the $10/fee would go away, and that I'd be responsible for any call that was router related. Even at my first attempt to return the router, they did not tell me about the $50 charge. Only when I had to escalate was I informed, after I already purchased and installed a new router. I'm spending over $300/month with Consolidated, and while I recognize they are moving away from cable, they seem to not want these customers for phone or fiber service either based on their customer service. Being a long-term customer means nothing to Consolidated. Time to change. read more

It's Sunday night I'm going to watch a movie on HBO cause I have been paying for it for over a year. I have " the works" plan. But when I get on it says my subscription was canceled by consolidated communications. What the.... and at this hour I can't even get help. They are awful there. Service doesn't exist. My controller has been faulty for months but I have to make an appt to waste a service person and my time to come over and give me one that works. Service used to be much better. We are a long standing Comcast and wave customer and have never had issues in the 10 years of having them in many different areas across California. Fidium who now owns consolidated made some pretty big promises on their website which all fell short, the first is they have false advertising, they advertise you will get blazing fast speeds across your entire household with zero delays and the best possible service you can ever use, this was a lie, they advertised that you'd get what you pay for with their whole home connectivity, this advertises you'll receive the max speeds throughout your entire house, also a lie, I never saw over 300 down and 400 up standing directly in front of the router, unfortunately the majority of the service experience was met with the internet constantly crashing and going down, high ping and jitter times, took 30 seconds to load single web pages and YouTube videos. Their field techs were rude and unhelpful stating that you'll never receive anywhere close to the advertised speeds unless you plug in directly, also a lie and a lie their site says otherwise, false marketing. Their tech support was no help and their router, pod extenders, and modem setup is total junk, we got tired of the constant network issues and went out and bought our own mesh system that's performing 100x better than the old. I urge new customers to tread carefully as fidium is lying to the consumer. read more

I am adjusting my review upward because of real good customer service I received today, not sure if the issues on phone are resolved, will find out next time it rains, but the tech went through a lot, replaced some suspect wiring so I hope for the best, internet is still slow though. original review: "Every time it rains I have buzzing on my phone land line. I plug an extra phone into the outside line on the outside of my house and get the same buzzing noise when it rains. This is the tell that the issue is not in my house wiring, but outside on the line somewhere. Consolidated has had techs come out over and over but the problem persists. I will cut back to only the most basic service if no resolution to the issue soon. My line was not prone to this issue years past. I also have internet from Consolidated and 2 MPBS! is average on speed check, buffers 'a lot.' I am trying to find a new internet provider but having trouble finding one, my name is in with T Mobile, but they have no more room on their line. I will find a new provider eventually. Some of the people who work at Consolidated are real fine people, especially techs, but their product needs to be modernized. read more

They lied about bringing fiber into our neighborhood. For a decade. The bill went up, the service and speed went down. Finally, a 5G option became available and we dumped them. They kept charging us. Then found out that if you call and cancel the service, you ALSO have to log on to the website and cancel your auto pay. Criminal. Crooked. More mafia than public utility. read more

I didn't have good Wi-Fi the whole time it kept cutting out, so I always had to use my phone hotspot. I had about 7 service calls to my house, and they still couldn't figure it out. There is nothing positive to say about this terrible company. No shows from technicians to fix phone or internet. A slight breeze and everything goes out. Rain or wind - no internet. Been told it is due to water collecting in their hubs. What??? They purport to have processes that customers must follow; however, CC does not even follow their own process. Consider 5G home internet or Starlink if 5G is not available in your area. I've been battling with this terrible company for too many years. Finally fired them this summer. Life is too short to put up with their nonsense and extremely poor service. Now they owe me money and I have to battle for a lousy $44 dollar charge for services not rendered. The WORST experience I've ever had. Haven't had internet at the house for over two months, and have spent HOURS upon hours trying to get this fixed. I've taken time off work and have had to arrange for people to be there only to have nothing done. I'm so exhausted and just want to cry. Then I finally get Mark, the area service manager on the phone, and all he wants to do is shift the blame and not take responsibility for the complete lack of communication and follow through. I tried getting a new connection with Consolidated. I filled the online form and scheduled an appointment for the installation. I then called their support to see if they can move the appointment to an earlier slot that aligns with my move in date. They said "in order for them to check if an earlier slot is available, they will have to cancel my existing appointment". That's so weird. It's a first that I am hearing a customer rep telling a new customer to cancel. I'll take the advice. BIG NO to Consolidated! Luckily I have better ISP options. Worst customer service. read more

I received a postcard with what looked like an incredible offer for TV, internet service. I contacted Consolidated Communications heard their offer and loved the price plus free Showtime for one year. I scheduled an installation date for a week later. I reached out to my current vender to schedule cancellation of my service. I asked them some technical questions and found not only could they offer me a similar price but very fast internet. The great deal with Consolidated Communications was for 20 megabytes internet speed while my current speed is 150. No great deal, would have to pay for additional speed. Read the fine print on the offers you receive. Needless to say I'm sticking with my current vendor. When I called to cancel my service request appointment, I did talk to a very friendly person who was most helpful with canceling my contract. read more

Update: 3-25-2021: Random CCI guy shows up at my house, unannounced, to come take the fiber box unit on the side of the home. Zero communication from CCI about this when I canceled my service. Zero communication for someone showing up. But I was on a work call and kids zooming, and told him to come back. I will have him sign a COVID question form too for fun. Then I called the customer service line to tell them this, and it turns out they didn't correct my bill for the days I had service. They wanted me to pay a full month but remember, they wanted me to wait 9 days for someone to come out to the area to fix their broke system. Unacceptable treatment of former customers. We have been their customer for over decade. I called for a replacement for the router and they scheduled me fast and easy. The guy that came in and do the work, Josh, really professional and did great job. He explained to us what we need to do, etc. Thanks Josh! We have 100/mpbs for $77/ mo with 5G network. Caviot: we used our own router. There router provided sucks! Got some Orbi's from Costco and a Linksys switch in the closet, connecting gigabit internet all over our house Other than the crappy router, there gigabit symmetric internet is solid. They quality of service us during the day down to 600 mbps down, which I find reasonable. Why? COVID undoubtedly congest there network. They said they are upgrading the network, which I hope is adding to there fiber infrastructure to reduce or eliminate need for QOS speed down, and hopefully add excess capacity. Fiber internet has been fantastic. No longer sharing connections with the neighbor like cable-based service providers, we have fewer issues with windowing and jitter. Our latency is great, around 5 to ten milliseconds usually. read more
