Definitely a staple spot of the Princeton area. The location is great being that it is in a huge shopping center so there is always lots of parking. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but when the weather is nice they can open up the roof and let the breeze in! They don't take reservations for smaller parties and it gets crowded quite quickly around dinner so definitely get there early if you are going on a weekend. BYOB! The pizza itself is Neapolitan and yummy though is underdone occasionally. We got the vodka pie and corn pie this time. The vodka was definitely more marg leaning and could've used more cheese but the dough is delicious. The corn pizza was unique and a hit with our table. Their desserts are also great, with Nutella pie and homemade ice cream. A solid spot for sure. read more

Came here with a large group after a battle reenactment at the nearby state park. We got there right when the restaurant opened and the staff quickly put together a table for 20. There are a lot of fancy personal pizza options on the menu. I had the wild mushroom pizza and shared a dessert Nutella pizza with the table. Their guanciale pizza is a classic with the guanciale and FIG JAM (genius move), though I did notice the flavor has changed a bit, probably from a new supplier, and it tastes a little more pork-forward than it used to. The margherita is a must for me every single time as it's simple, clean, perfectly balanced, and honestly one of their best pies. And the funghi is another standout: earthy, rich, and something they consistently do really well. A friend was performing in WOMENROCK! which is the kind of show that makes you think maybe we all still have some beauty left in us. Before the first chord was played and the sun had started to go down, we needed something to eat. Someone said "Let's get pizza from Nomad" and everyone nodded because it has that foodie glow around it. The kind of place that gets whispered about in brunch conversations and local blogs with too many adjectives. We figured it would be expensive but good. We were half right. When we got there it was chaos. Not the fun kind either. More the disorganized, distracted, hurry-up-and-wait kind. The meat slicer was broken, which meant they were out of several pizzas, all involving things like prosciutto and whatnot. Apparently one machine stood between us and several options on the menu. Life is like that sometimes. The pizzas only come in one size. That size is slightly too much for one person or not quite enough for two. A clever trick for the house, not so much for the customer. We got two pepperoni pies for our family. That's $42. I don't know what kind of pepperoni has to travel first class to justify that price but it didn't show up with a passport or a purpose. The pizza was fine. Let me say that again. It was fine. Dough was moist and chewy. The flavor was there. But the slices had all the structural integrity of a sad birthday balloon. They flopped over the moment you picked them up like they'd given up on life. No crispness. No backbone. Just sauce and cheese surrendering to gravity. And that's the thing. For $21 a pie and a reputation built on food pilgrimages and curated rusticity, I expected something better than "fine." I expected a little joy. I expected a slice I could hold in one hand without reenacting a pizza-based tragedy. There are too many great pizza places around Mercer County to settle for this again. We ate it. We did not suffer. But we will not return. The music in the shopping center's courtyard, by the way, was wonderful. read more

The guanciale and tartufo were excellent, but the spicy sausage was disappointing. It seemed like it was mostly onions on top of the pie, with a sprinkle of sausage. I think that Nomad is one of those places that you either love, or don't. Their service is friendly, the atmosphere, while a little loud, is what I'd expect to see in a more modern version of a pizza joint. The real issue comes down to whether or not you like the type of pizza that they serve. Here's the deal: If you like a soft, chewy dough, then you're probably going to be happy here. If you're a fan of thin crusts that have a crust to them, then you're probably not going to by happy with your pie. I'm a thin crust guy, and to by up-front and honest, I'll take a Trenton style Tomato Pie over a pizza any day of the week. I'd ordered the Guanciale pizza and shared my wife's Arugula and Prosciutto pie. The Guanciale pie, seemed a little light in the main ingredient to me. There was guanciale on there, but it seemed more an added ingredient than the main attraction. I had pieces of the pie that had jam with no guanciale, which seemed to defeat the entire purpose of the combination. The Arugula pie was good, but five slices of prosciutto seems a small amount for the most expensive pie on the menu. I appreciate the place helping me try to keep my cholesterol down, but I expected a little more of those ingredients on my pies. They weren't bad, but they weren't what I'd hoped. Having a soft, breadlike texture didn't help. The salads were good, and didn't seem overpriced. I liked the arugula salad the best--it was simple and to the point. My philosophy on salads is that if the leafy greens are good enough, then you don't need to waste my time with a bunch of toppings. To that end, the Greek salad was a little busy, but was still good. The others at my table seemed to enjoy the Caesar salad, but to me Caesar salad needs its own Casca and Brutus to put an end to its existence--however, the others at the table, as mentioned before, seemed happy with Ceasar, so I kept my dagger sheathed. The meatball appetizer surprised me with its light texture and flavor, and it was definitely something I'd order again. As I mentioned, the service for our table was friendly, although it took a long time for our drink orders to be delivered. I like it that they had some interesting soda options instead of being held hostage to the usual Pepsi/Coke choices. All in all, our meal was fine, but the pizza is just not my type, and I was underwhelmed by the ones I'd ordered. read more

Service was great. The restaurant was flooded with children the night we went (seemed like some PTA night out or something) and so naturally, the restaurant was louder than I'd think is normal. We asked our server to move us to another table that was farther from the children and he nicely helped us with the request. We order 2 pizzas, the Guanciale and the Hot Soppressata. We enjoyed both but liked the Hot Soppressata a bit more. The tomato sauce is light and the spice from the meat is a perfect cut/pairing with the light sauce. We also loved the sweet fig jam on the Guanciale and thought it was great with the salty mozzarella. The dough is sooo fluffy and perfectly bouncy. Throughout my years in Princeton my preferences in the pizza places have changed, obviously being a complete opinion I believe that Nomads has always been a truly great conterder both pizza and customer services have always been been great. My regular order is the pepperoni and the Nutella pizzas which are absolutely phenomenal. Always packed nothing more to say but good looking interior design and nice to dine in. We, a group of about 15 people, went there for a friend's birthday in March, 2024. Parking is plentiful and we had a reservation---so we did not have to wait. We ordered several pizzas. The ambiance is good and the service is nice. The menu is fascinating and their pizzas are somewhat unique. Some of us are vegetarians and they had plenty of vegetarian options. They have gluten-free options though we did not order any such. We liked the taste of the pizzas that we ordered. Kids were very happy. Would happily go there again. read more

I've had pizza from Nomad before when others have ordered it or through their food truck, which is amazing. However, this was the first time I'd dined in, and sadly, the service was pretty lacking. My friend and I walked in in a Tuesday at lunchtime and tried to stay out of the way in the very small, crowded space in front of the host station. Two people were already waiting, with no staff in sight. A waitress passed by, said something unintelligible (seriously, when I asked my friend if she had understood her, both she and one of the others waiting agreed it was nonsense). When she passed by again after a minute, she said "one sec," and never came back. Finally, a male staff member came, took a to-go order for the first person waiting, then asked if we also wanted to place an order. I told him we were looking to sit down to eat. We sat, and we waited a long time for a server to even acknowledge us, even though the restaurant was fairly empty. Once our server arrived, he was pretty good about taking our order, though it did take a long time to get the bill at the end. The arugula salad was FANTASTIC! Seriously, so good. I could eat that twice a week. The special pizza I ordered with spicy sausage was also delicious, with one minor caveat -- my first slice had a few hard bits that I had to spit out -- looked like bone or cartilage -- but that was the only food hiccup. Overall, the flavors are good, but I think I'll stick to takeout orders going forward. read more

Great atmosphere and service. Parking can be a little frustrating since it's a strip mall with a supermarket and popular bakery nearby. Good size on the inside but gets busy fast. It was packed for a Thursday. Pricy. Pizzas range $19-$22 and wines were $30+ for the bottle. Everything was good. Bruschetta was a small portion. The arugula salad was great. The margherita was good but pretty plain. It didn't have enough basil on it and even though the crust was burned, the bottom was floppy. The seasonal spicy peach pizza was my favorite - it was super unusual. The jalapeños, peaches and arugula all went well together. The Tartufo is good but it's an acquired taste and barely pizza. No red sauce. The egg is unusual. The truffle is balanced and not overpowering. My favorite was the Calabrian spicy one. Bathroom is small and clean. Chairs are all metal but mismatched designs and sizes which is frustrating. My purse kept falling off my chair so I hung it on my friends. Went here on a Saturday at about 5.. a nice amount of busyness.. not overwhelmingly packed, but lively enough. Had a nice mix of pop playlist lightly playing in the background... not too much where you couldn't talk or were distracted. I heard a couple faves, so I was happy lol. Solid pizza pies and a wonderful patio for outdoor dining. I like the eclectic mix of ingredients in their specialty pizzas. They give you a variety of flavors that you otherwise would not see in a pizza. The Soppressata pizza with spicy pepperoni and a hint of honey is very delicious. We added mushrooms which enhanced the flavor. The Arugula pizza comes with prosciutto and was equally tasty. Service was a little spotty as it was a busy night but the wait staff tried their best. Several pizzas arrived later in the meal and one didn't arrive at all. They apologized provided the pizza and then discounted the bill. Kudos for handling the poor service. read more
