    - Extremely popular spot--by 5:30 pm on a Friday, both the parking lot and dining room were already packed; our wait was reasonable, but it quickly grew much longer as the evening went on; there is a nice nook area in the front for waiting, and a mounted self-service corkscrew/beer bottle opening station in the entryway--cups provided - Large dining room with plenty of tables and booths, though still not quite enough for the constant stream of diners; tables were spacious and nicely spaced so you don't feel cramped; warm, comfortable lighting throughout, but crowd noise does get fairly loud - Service was warm, friendly, and attentive; despite how busy it was, the waitstaff remained efficient and genuinely cordial - Food was fantastic: the large tomato pie with sweet sausage and mushrooms arrived piping hot and generously topped (though not perfectly evenly distributed)--great flavor and a very thin crust that stayed soft without falling apart--cut tavern-style; the cold octopus salad featured a generous portion of tender octopus with a pleasant bite over arugula, lightly dressed with EVOO--adding a squeeze of lemon gave it the perfect pop of brightness

Went there on a high recommendation. It's just salads and thin crust pizza. I love thin crust, but this pizza was super thin to the point of tasting like cardboard toasted over a few times the pizza lacked flavor and the outer crust was actually burnt. Service was fair. No atmosphere. Not my fav

Time for an update here. We have been going to De Lorenzo's for over 20 years and they never fail to deliver the goods. Simply the best pizza (Trenton tomato pie) in Jersey. End of story!

I thank Dave for having this pizza place so high on the list. I wasn't sure what to expect for a tomato pie, my aunt mentioned the lack of cheese on the pizza. But my gosh!! The tomato sauce was the best I've ever had!! I just kept grabbing bite after bite after bite! I practically inhaled the large by myself. The pizza is thin crust, so a normal sized man will need 1.5 pies. Or maybe just 1 large pie to himself. The pies are cut into rectangles. I couldn't get past how amazing the tomato sauce was.. I'm so glad I was able to find a good pizza joint before leaving this go back to Arizona, land of no good pizza! I will definitely be returning here. We arrived 30 mins after open and the wait was a little over an hour for a table. Around 6:30pm we noticed tables were being left vacant. So that's seems to be when the wait time is minimal. Well worth the wait though!!

TL; DR: Skip the cheese and get the white pie Very casual place that has a limited menu, so you know whatever you get will be delicious. The Arugula Salad was easy to share with 4 people and had lots of cheese on it. The cheese pizza was fine, but I'm a person who loves cheese and there wasn't enough for me. The sauce is more tomato forward and didn't have a lot of cheese coverage on the top, so you could see the red sauce more than your usual pizza. The white pie with mushrooms, spinach, and garlic was delicious (my favorite by far). Every pizza came out hot, steaming, and perfectly cooked. Can't wait to go back!

This spot was packed on a Saturday night and there was quite a waitlist. Part of our group went to put our name down on the waitlist in advance and then we hung out elsewhere until it was our turn. The pizza was delicious! They offer both small and large sizes and you can pick which toppings to add. The crust is thin and crunchy. They don't really do white pizzas. They have several salad options as well. The atmosphere is casual and lively. Service was fine overall - a little slow at times but decent considering how busy it was!

Stopped by to grab a pizza for takeout. Definitely a 5 star pizza. Service was fast and friendly. Glad I came to try this legendary spot out.

Fast, affordable, delicious pies. Well done crust has a nice crunch but center is still very floppy. Still, some of the better clam pizzas around Jersey area.

Well, well, well.... If you know then you know. If you don't know then you better get over here quick! This unique style pizza flourishes down south jersey and this spot cooks it up to perfection. It hits your taste buds on all levels! The freshness, crispness, zestiness... I have day dreams and wet dreams about this pie! Too bad I don't live in the area, otherwise I'll be here a lottttttttt more than my diet would allow me to. Simple menu, and they don't skimp out on the toppings. Make it your way and DO NOT share! FYI: Parking might be tough since this is in a shared lot with other businesses.

I can't believe this was my first visit as a New Jersey native. The pizza was delicious, with a thin crust and incredible sauce. I can see what the hype is about. The service was friendly, and the place was busy despite the weekday lunch hour but we didn't have to wait long for our table

One of the best pies you'll ever have. Go and get some. No bs. No reservations taken but it's worth the wait.

First time here. This place is talked about throughout our company and when people come into town this is a go-to. Dave Portnoy rated this one of the highest ratings he has ever done and he isn't far off. The crust is unbelievable and the tomatoes just taste different here. I loved the pizza (one of five) where they put green peppers, sausage, onions and pepperoni...just amazing. The service was awesome and the ambiance is old school with a modern twist. Highly recommend this place and need to put this place on a "must go" every-time you are in town. Well done!

Rocco's closed down in Newtown, PA and their pork chop was the best...this pork chop was right up there with Rocco's. The mustard sauce, unique topping, was amazing. I am thinking about it today and my mouth is watering. My husband's veal was probably the best he has ever had. The most tender veal ever with a delicious marsala sauce. Then there were the pastas and seafood...all delicious. Oh and the calamari. It was all so darn good. Kyle was our server and he added to a perfect dining experience. He answered our questions, described the choices right on, made recommendations, he was friendly, had a wanting to please attitude and my 13 yr old granddaughter was crushing on him. (Haha). Wish all of our servers were that effecient and good. Gotta love a BYOB! The restaurant is modernly decorated and very comfortable. High energy kinda place. Noise level was high but all restaurants are loud these days and it really wasn't too bad. It was our first time at this restaurant and even though it is a bit far...we can't wait to go back. It is a pleasure to support a family run business. The owner came to our table and you could see her pride and we also felt our business was appreciated. We just quit going out for Italian other than for tomato pies, but now we've begun actively looking for a place to enjoy simple Italian food--outside of the ubiquitous tomato pies. Gennaro's was our first stop, with the menu definitely reading more New World Italian than Old World. We started with a couple of appetizers: The Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms in Scampi sauce and the Antipasto Salad. I'm not a fan of Antipasto salads (I've a three item max addition rule for salads and tomato pies), but my wife enjoyed it. It was your standard antipasto salad for the area--perhaps more generous with the meat and cheese than the last one we ordered up the street at Papa's. The stuffed mushrooms had a good flavor, and although the sauce didn't really hit me as Scampi (the garlic wasn't really there), it was still good on its own, and I'd order it again. My wife ordered the Pork Chop Giambotta, which she truly enjoyed. It was a thick, good sized pork chop covered with a sauce that included potatoes, sausage slices, and sautéed peppers. The menu said that the peppers were hot and sweet, but they were pretty much 99.9% hot peppers. If that's an issue for you, I'd make a point in mentioning it to your server first. My wife doesn't do spicy, but luckily I was there to find a home for the hot peppers, and she said she'd order it again if we returned. My Veal Saltimbocca, however, was a letdown. The veal was overcooked and had lost its tenderness, but most surprising to me was that it was very different from the standard version I've known for years. Had I read the description more carefully, I'd have caught the fact it was in a tomato demi-glace rather than the white wine and butter emulsion I know and love. Also, the ham that was used was not the thinly sliced prosciutto one normally sees, instead it was a thick slice of something that I can't honestly tell you was prosciutto or not. The use of spinach instead of a sage leaf wasn't a complete shock, as I've seen that before. Overcooked veal, the prosciutto mystery, and tradition straying aside, the flavor almost bordered on being alright, but it definitely wasn't what I'd hoped for when I placed the order. To add insult to injury, I asked for pasta as my side, and was given a couple choices--I chose the linguini and got served a dente-less spaghetti. When I asked the waiter (who was otherwise extremely conscientious and attentive) if they were out of linguini, I was told that there's really very little difference between the two, which so blew my mind that I just shrugged and ate. While we were there, we could see that there were many people who acted like regulars enjoying their meals, and many of them were also eating tomato pies, however, we're on the hunt for a place that's going to satisfy our need for an Italian place that provides beyond the pizza oven. I'm up in the air about a second shot--my wife was much happier than me with the location (which means we'll likely go), but I'll definitely ask our server more questions about what I'm ordering next time to avoid any surprises.

The desire to try out a new spot in the area that served up the more traditional round pie led me here. Although I stopped in for take out, they have a decent dining area between the tables inside and the outdoor patio area. I went with a standard cheese pizza and an order of garlic knots. The garlic knots (3.25/5) were a bit on the smaller side, but served in a nice portion size with a decent garlic kick to them. The large cheese pizza (3.5/5) was a small notch above the central New Jersey average, with the dough, sauce, & cheese coming together for a nice pizza experience, although I did have to sprinkle on some spices to add to the flavor profile a bit. Service (4/5) while picking up was friendly, although slightly slow at first since the guy at the counter was initially fixated on his phone for a bit. Overall, I'd rate Massimo's a 3.5/5 pizza experience, and don't mind rounding up since Yelp doesn't allow half stars and menu prices were fairly reasonable. While I'm not sure I'd choose Massimo's over other pizza competitors in the Robbinsville/Hamilton area, it's still a decent option should you find yourself looking for a more traditional round pizza experience.

You won't find philosophical arguments about char or hydration levels happening here. What you will find is a fairly dependable pie with thin crust that holds up, a good layer of cheese, and sauce that tastes like someone has been making it the same way for awhile. The slices fold without complaint and the toppings behave themselves. It's the sort of pizza you bring home on a Friday when everyone is tired and nobody wants to cook or a speech. The prices are kinder to your wallet than the famous spots nearby, and that matters. Not every meal needs to be a religious experience. Sometimes food just needs to feed five people without causing regret. The sandwiches and salads are solid citizens too. Nothing showy, just competent and filling. It's definitely not a fancy place you'd want to dine in at, despite having a full menu of pizza and Italian dishes. We kept things simple by ordering a large plain cheese pizza and a chicken parmigiana sandwich. The pizza was slightly above average for a central NJ pizzeria, with decent sauce, cheese, and crust. It was a slightly thinner base and crust as compared to more doughy and thicker counterparts in the area. The chicken parm sandwich was similarly above average with decent ingredients. Everything was satisfying and on par for a good central NJ pizza experience. I'd rate my overall experience a solid 3.5/5, but happy to round up since the person working the counter was kind and thanked me when I went to pick up.
