We've now used Deanna three times and have been very happy each time. She replaced two windows for us, and most recently installed a beautiful wall-to-wall mirror above the vanity in our master bathroom. Everything was done carefully, the fit was perfect, and her pricing was very fair. I noticed a few reviews mentioning that scheduling or call backs can sometimes take time. Lafayette Glass is a small, family-owned business, and that's often what happens when someone does excellent work at honest prices--word spreads and suddenly the phone rings faster than one person can answer it. As a former small business owner myself, I used to say my business let me work half days... I just got to choose which 12 hours I liked better. If you want quality craftsmanship and reasonable pricing, I've found Deanna is absolutely the person to call. A little patience may occasionally be required, but her results speak for themselves. **This will be long, but I feel my entire story needs to be shared ** We had 5 windows replaced, 2 of which were sliding glass doors. The work itself was completed professionally and looks amazing. However, this review is based off the unprofessionalism and unorganized mess at which this company operates. We had layfatte glass come out to take our measurements and upon doing so, we received a quote. We called to let them know we would move forward and spoke with Deanna, the owner, who asked for our address, but then quickly brushed us off the phone and said she would "take care of it" while scheduling our next appointment. Rather than spending more than 30 seconds with us to get our invoice #, she assumed we were new clients and send out another guy to take the same measurements for the same windows as before. (Frustrating, but we weren't super upset) We rescheduled and got the windows ordered and Deanna scheduled our replacement appointment to be the Friday of Labor Day weekend. She calls me 10 minutes after they were expected to show up and says they need to reschedule because they don't have the workers and we're super busy before the holiday break. (This appointment had been on my calendar for over a month). I'd like to add that I am a field based worker, so when I have appointments, I am having to take time away from work to be home and this is now the 3rd appointment I needed to be home for. She took $100 off the total to justify the mistake, but that doesn't change the fact that it felt like they just simply didn't want to work the Friday of labor day weekend. Fast forward to the actual appointment, she originally allotted me for 9-10am. At 10:15am I still had not heard from this company nor had anyone showed up. After having my realtor (who referred me) and myself contact her she calls me to address the situation and says "your time slot was 9-10, I can't expect my guys to travel all over the bay area to be there right at 9am". Okay fine I get it, but I am a first time homebuyer how am I supposed I know that. You laughed on the phone and said "the windows would have taken longer than an hour anyways" ....Again I have never done this before, so how would I have known without proper communication? After I explained my overall frustration of the experience, she did apologize, but justified it by saying they had Covid, a family wedding, and Labor Day weekend all in one. That is FINE! Life happens and things come up, I'm not upset about that, but I am upset about the disorganization, complete lack of communication, & unprofessionalism I felt our entire experience with Lafayette glass. Like I stated above, the work is great, but I wouldn't work with this company ever again. Lastly she said "you are the one appointment each year that goes wrong," but based on some of these reviews it doesn't seem that way. read more

So, I met Rob at my building and I wanted to get a shower door installed at my new place in the master bath. I called and left a message. I chatted with Deanna, but she always seemed rushed to have our conversation. I had Rob come out to measure and then we ordered. I originally ordered the brushed nickel but changed it to polished silver or so I thought. I waited over a week and a half even though when I checked in they said any day now, but it wasn't. It was definitely longer and when Deanna called me back she was confused with my order, so had to check and then called me back again. I got it that same day, which was nice. The guys did a great job minus not wearing masks half the time while doing the work. Also, when they came to install it was still the brushed nickel not polished silver like I asked to change it too. I feel like they aren't the most organized or the most communicative. She obviously didn't listen to me, but it's nice and installed. read more

Lafayette Glass installed new glass in a patio door and two windows in which the seals had failed. Glass and installation were priced competitively. Installation went smoothly except that in the process of removing the glass in the old patio door a piece of molding holding in the glass disintegrated--no surprise as it was 15 years old. What was a surprise was that the company did not have similar molding that could be installed. The company informed me that they would try and find replacement molding. While it took several months, and I was about to give up on them, they came by yesterday and installed replacement molding. Happy ending--I will use them again for our glass needs. read more

Mark comes and measures the window. 3 to 5 days later they come out and put it in perfectly. This last time (today) we needed a patio door window replaced. I told Dee that we had company coming next week to see if they could do it sooner than next Tuesday. Dee called me this morning and said they had a cancellation and could come today. As it happens, we couldn't have the glass installed right away, but they held the price for me for several weeks. When the time came, it took several days to get the glass cut. I contact this company to install shower doors for me and it was like pulling teeth to get them to come to Pleasanton. Finally they called me back after an e-mail and 3 more phone calls. They finally got here to measure and ordered my glass, I asked how long it would take and they told me 5-7 days. Two weeks passes and I call them and they said they would have to call me back. They called back and said the glass was in giving some excuse as to why I had to call them to see if my glass was in or not. They come to my house and one of the panels is the wrong size, the owner was the one that measured and he was also at my home with a helper to try to install. They blamed it on the manufacturer. What can you do? The owner was running his mouth about the tile work that was done by another contractor in the bathroom; this had nothing to do with the glass being the wrong size. Maybe he should change fields and do tile work. They leave the house and I assume that since they called my house prior to getting there that my number was accidently pocket dialed when they left and I could hear the helper saying to the owner that he had measured the glass wrong. By the way I gave them pictures, drawings and exact measurements then they measured themselves. 7 more days goes by and this time they call me to tell me the glass is in. This time the owner is not with them and they install the glass, break a bracket that holds the glass and tell me they have to order that. Come on, you don't have brackets to install the glass, this is your business!!! Now 1 week later no call, I call they and what a coincidence it just arrived. We schedule a day for them to come out. The guy comes and installs some bracket that doesn't even match the others. I said by the way when I ordered this glass I was told they had some special glass that would help with water spots but it was an upcharge. I agreed to pay for this and when I asked the guy that was here he looked at his paper work and the sticker that was on the glass and said no but offered to give me some polish I could use to held keep it clean. They have terrible attitudes and for the people who say I can't believe this they were great, I have known them for years, they may have been great years ago but not now. read more

I rarely write reviews of any kind but felt compelled to do so today after my experience with Lafayette Glass today. I called them asking questions about how to replace shower door trim pieces. The owner was very helpful over the phone and went as far as telling me that I could find the parts closer to where I live in Danville if I didn't want to come to Lafayette. I ended up heading there simply because I appreciated how helpful he was on the phone. I arrived at their store an hour later and the parts were waiting for me. I purchased them and as I was walking out I was getting a parking ticket for having not feed my meter right on the street in front of the store. A woman inside that had helped me came out and promptly refunded the $30 I had paid for the trim pieces saying she wanted to give me my money back for the purchase I just made because she saw them giving me a ticket. Deanna was so helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process, clearly explaining how she arrived at my estimate amount, why I needed 1/2 inch vs. 3/8 inch glass, and how the entire process would go. And now for why I'm giving them 5 stars: I was on a tight timeline to finish my project and Deanna and her team went out of their way to ensure I'd meet my timeline. My glass was ready before its scheduled date, but since the glass was scheduled to be delivered to the store after closing on a Friday, her team drove to San Ramon (15 miles away) to meet the delivery truck, pick up my glass, and brought it to my house so it could be installed that afternoon! This glass shop is a mess when it comes to communication. The tech came out and measured the locations where I wanted mirrors installed. I was told by the tech to call him to confirm when they could have the mirrors ready for install. I called him 3-4 times, left voicemails to check on my order. I received no response to my inquiries so I assumed that my order was not being processed and called another glass company to meet my deadline for my customer. Oh, btw I'm a general contractor. After a week went by I received a call today to set up an appointment to have my mirrors installed. WHAT!!!!! I told them that I called another company since I never heard back from them. They tried to tell me that I have to pay for the glass that was cut. The tech got on the phone and I told him that I would not pay for the material since they never responded to my calls. He told me that he couldn't retrieve his voicemail. WHAT!!! You couldn't call from another phone to call me back since I called so many times? I've never dealt with such a mess and hope you avoid this shop so you don't have to deal with it either. read more

I broke a window in a bathroom we were remodeling, and our contractor called Lafayette Glass. They were able to send a repair person out the next morning, and he arrived right on time. He installed the new glass quickly and professionally, and it matched perfectly with the glass in the adjoining window. In addition, we had purchased a mirror to install, but when we opened the box it was damaged. We called Diana, who told us the installer had just left for our house, but she called him back, cut a mirror for us, and sent it along. It was much better quality for a small difference in price, and it too was installed perfectly. The service was superior and the prices were extremely reasonable. What more could you want? I will certainly call them if I ever need glass replaced again. read more

We had Lafayette Glass install mirrors in our master bathroom as part of a remodel project. The installers were pleasant, but after they left we noticed a scratch on our brand new bathroom countertop. The scratch was not there before Lafayette Glass arrived. We called the store and were told that the owner would call us back. He never did, so we tried again and got the same story about the owner needing to call us back. Again, he (or anyone else at Lafayette Glass) never called back. A couple months passed and we began to notice black, gray, and white spots around the edges of the mirrors. Many of the spots are in locations not exposed to accidental splashes of water, and our very experienced cleaning lady insists the damage is not from her cleaning the mirrors, or some fault of our own. I called Lafayette Glass to report the damage and seek expertise on what may have caused the damage, especially so soon after installation. Again, we were told that the store owner would have to call us back, which he never did even after we made two more phone calls to the store. I understand phone numbers get lost, people forget, etc., but come on! Five time without the decency of a single return call. Sure makes it seem like they are trying to hide something. At a minimum, it's a clear sign of an unreputable and/or poorly managed business. I generally like to support small local businesses, but in this case I urge you find someone else besides Lafayette Glass. read more

FRUSTRATING TO DO BUSINESS WITH LAFAYETTE GLASS. Monday: Our yard maintenance crew broke the sliding glass door of our rental house in Moraga. We tried Diablo Glass, whom we usually use for glass replacement, however they gave an estimate of a week to replace glass. We called Lafayette Glass and were told they have the glass in stock and can replace the same day. We pay by phone, (approximately $500.), the installers came out and found that the glass they brought out would not fit and must order a different size. We were told the glass would be replaced in 3-5 days. Fine. The following Monday: we call the office to find out the status and were told they would check and call back; no call back. Tuesday: call again, no call back again. Wednesday: call again and this time ask for our receipt to be emailed. The women on the phone tells me she can not provide a receipt until the job is completed but finds that indeed the glass is in and will be installed the next day, 10 days after the glass has been ordered. Thursday: the glass is installed, no receipt, no call back. Friday: ask that the receipt be emailed again, nothing. Friday afternoon, called again left messages with the answering service that the receipt has been requested 3 times. Saturday, no call back, no receipt via email. Normally, I would just go into the business and get the receipt in person but cannot as we are 1.5 hours away from Lafayette. One final comment: the installers were very pleasant and professional. It is the women on the phone that seems to be the problem or the management of the business if this type of service is acceptable to the owner/manager of Lafayette Glass. Needless to say, we will use Diablo Glass in the future. read more

Just had the most amazing customer service today, the kind I'm not used to getting anywhere anymore. Went in with my mirrors I had ordered elsewhere that arrived covered in a sticky film from the protective glass covering. I had tried GooGone, rubbing alcohol, you name it, and nothing was taking it off. I went in to order replacement glass and they were able to save my original mirrors with their glass cleaner and a razor. The wonderful lady at front desk insisted on giving me the full size can of glass cleaner and the razors and charged me nothing! Lafayette Glass went out of their way for me, and I had never been in the store before and was giving them no business. I'm impressed, and I will be back next time!! Shop local!! read more

We had them place a mirror against a wall, once it was installed I told them it wasn't straight, they came out and said it was and if it wasn't it would get straight over time. I went in a month later and told the manager and his wife that I wanted the mirror to be fixed and or get my money back he said "sue me!" I had another glass company in Walnut Creek come out and replace the mirror and they got it straight. I would highly recommend going to another place if you want the job done right.
